  3. Oh OK, Khalsa Ji, I think you were referring to member 'p Singh'... Sorry for the confusion I'd like to say congrats to you also bro! Welcome to the Khalsa family, may guroo ji bless you with naam, gurbani and a WICKED Sikhi jeevan! :TH:
  4. LOL, forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I thought I was the ONLY P_Singh on this site?? If so, the above messages do not correspond to me, as I took amrit a while back, I've come back from India, but didnt go to take amrit... I'm confused? Khalsa ji, who are you talking about? :T:
  5. Waheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguroo Ji Ki Fateh! Well, I just came back from a holiday/yatra to India this sunday... I didnt really have a bad experience... When I went through the detector machine thing, it started bleeping, this was obvious, I already knew it would as I was wearing my sarbloh kara's...the guy started to check me over with that stick detector thing and he saw my kara and was trying to see how heavy it was, by like holding it in his hand while I was wearing it.... He was like, is this steel, I was like 'NO', its 'sarbloh', you should have seen his face ' ', like he's never seen a kara before!! Yeah, its heavy, but NOT the biggest kara around!!! The we had to go through a second lot of detectors a while later, and once again, my kara's went off and the guy started to check me, he felt my gatra underneath and was like, 'do you have a kirpan on you?'. 'where's your kirpan?'... I thought to myslef, what a 'duh', how stupid, why would I carry it on me and ask for trouble?! I was like NO, I dont have my kirpan on me, he was like 'But you have a gatra on?'....I was like 'yeah [and??...]'.....then he starts asking me if I have a slie/sly in my dastaar!!! All this happened in Amritsar airport!!! Lol...

Your are correct it is midnight they start, we went at 1am and they where in full flow, also there is usually loads of rooms available in Guru raam daas niwas, if not there are a number of good hotels close by. There are many chardikala Gursikhs that come to the amritvela at harmandar sahib and shoudln't be missed by anyone travelling there. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! WOW....thanks... I will definately try to stay in amritsar for a few days at the very least...and hopefully be there when the celebrations for 400 years since the 1st parkaash of siri guroo granth sahib ji.... 8. they do naam abyhaas from 1am WOW!!! Is it hard to get a room/place to stay nearby? I'd like to stay in amritsar for a while when I go to India....this weekend!...
  9. Waheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguroo Ji Ki Fateh! I want to learn kirtan too!! BUT you're lucky Tarunjeet Bharji, as you could learn from sangat at cov gurdwara...maybe on a weekend if possible? I want to learn kirtan and will try and start learning at the gurdwara soon.... I personally think that if you like take some lessons on the baja etc, once you get the hang/knack of the keys, you'll be able to get a kirtan book (i.e. Amrit kirtan etc...there are many others now available...) and start to learn for yourself... So I think, IF possible, try and get some lessons...pick up the basics and then work from there on.... Hope this helps  ...... I'd love to singh hari jas...(i.e. Waheguroo's praises....) WOW!
  10. Dear 'moorakh' ji, THANKS! I will be waiting for the info you will obtain regarding the chandigarh samagam....
  11. Waheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguroo Ji Ki Fateh! Sangat jeeo, I just wanted to know whether there are any rehansbhai's/samagams etc happening in India (Punjab) during september? I've been told that there are rehansbhai's in Amritsar at the end of each month...on the saturday?? BUT I just wanted to ask on here, as I have no idea about which gurdwara, when, etc.... I checked on akj.org and they list programmes in August only... Thanks in advance, ANY help would be appreciated!
  12. Waheg uroo Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguroo Ji Ki Fateh! Thanks very much 'bsbk123'...I appreciate ALL your suggestions/advice... Unfortunately, I dont think we'll be going to delhi...its sad, as I could have had your darshan, along with visiting gurdwara's, i.e. bangla sahib.... @ Our flight is straight to amritsar from the UK... Thanks for the info regarding bottled water, I was thinking of taking some from here??
  13. Dear 'SSB'... Come jeeo, lets explore INDIA!!!
  14. Thanks Bikramjit Singh!!! I'll make a note of these book stores you mention so that I know what to look for!! I'm def going to be wearing kurta's all the time...I'll mix in with the pindoo's and hopefully wont be 'spotted' from afar by the shop keepers... yeah, will go around with 'pindoo' relatives and hence it should be all good! I'll be coferring with them as to whether prices are sensible etc..Lol.. THANKS...
  15. Dear Daasn Daas, YEAH, thats exactly what I was saying....theres NO point in go ing IF we don't go to Hemkunt Sahib!! We're going after so long, and who knows whether they'll be another chance, thus I really want to go there, hopefully it wont be raining in India (as it has started to now...) so Hemkunt Sahib SHOULD BE OPEN etc.. "Other than that... my dad had international licence, so wherever we went .. i had my moma (moms bro) to guide us and saved money by travelling on our own" LOL... Hanji, I'll take loads of pics hopefully..one thing I'm noticing with these digitial cameras is that the battery goes too quick! But I've been told that you can save them by taking pics with the 'viewfinder' switched off, hence you take them as you do with the 'regular' cameras... WILL post pics on here when/IF (you never know...) i get back... :T:

  17. Thanks Singho! For the information regarding books, I'll def do a search like you say... Names of shops in Jullendar would be great...I think that Jullendar is not all that close to our pind, BUT I WILL MAKESURE we make a trip down there, even if its just for shopping! Lol.. ALSO, checking out other gurdwara's and having darshan along the way...
  18. P.S. ANY good books in english that you could recommend buying?? Has anyone been to the Singh brothers shop in Amritsar??
  19. S1ingh Ji, Well, we have got loads of family over there and I'm not going alone which is a good thing as its been soo long since having gone before... This thing about being ripped off is kinda worrying-lol, I just gotto be careful I guess... Would 'singhs' at shops try and rip you off also? As 'stopsingh' was saying that amritsar is a rip off??? Lol....S1ngh....theres NOOOO WAAAAAAAAAAYYY I'll be eating ANYTHING from outside...I've heard all the dodgy stories about refilling water bottles with tap water etc! :D THANKS...for ALL your comments/advice so far...Yeah, I WILL try to stay at darbaar sahib for amritvela as we have this dvd over here which someone made...they basically went to India and gave in-depth info about darbaar sahib- it was AMAZING...showing the parkaash and sukhasan seva etc... Hopefully will be able to see such sights also... Will need some of my 'pindoo' relatives to help me barter!! LOL  Then again...I think I should get used to it after a couple of weeks! :TH:
  20. Thanks Mintu Ji! Very kind of you...
  21. Hanji Singhstah, BUT I heard that they can tell that you're from abroad a mile off? Lol... maybe it'll be a little harder for them to figure that out as I'll mix in with the local pindoo's with my ghol dastaar  .....LOL! When they hear me speak...thats another story! They'll figure it out for sure!
  22. Waheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguroo Ji Ki Fateh! Dear Sangat! I'm finally going to India after like 14 years!! Lol...that was the last time I went, so things must have changed LOADS since then !! I wanted to know, do you have any tips/suggestions for going to India? Like from where to purchase things such as books, khanda's etc? I'm guessing the main place is Amritsar right? I'm gonna miss coming on here to read all your posts ....BUT then again, I STILL have 2 weeks left! Lol! I really want to go to Hemkunt Sahib...guroo's kirpa...it might happen!...Along with visiting many other gurdwara's!!! Heard its like 35 degrees over in India at the moment , I'll be looking like a tuva by the time I get back  @ .... IS ANYONE ELSE HERE PLANNING ON/GOING TO INDIA???
  23. Dear Gurpedro Ji... That trully is a bad situation and ashame...Hopefully you can get together with the sangat of the gurdwara and do something about it... Let me narrate something to you...these e.g.'s show us the current state of gurdwara's- more specifically the so called 'committee's' which are NOT focusing on the sangat (as they should be...in terms of listening to their advice etc and doing things in their favour)...INSTEAD its all about the MONEY! Anyways, I found out like last week that this 1 bibi ji whom I know fairly well was told that she could no longer do 'rauls' (i.e. read from siri guroo granth sahib ji) as her voice was 'not good enough'! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! @ I mean the fact is that this bibi ji has done ALOT of santhia and reads SHUDH (i.e. correctly!!) GURBANI!!! Such people get away with treating sangat like this!! Nothing can really be done anout it as the people in the committee are basically toghether like glue!!!
  24. A BENTI TO ALL SANGAT... PLEASE COME TO THIS AKHAND KIRTAN PROGRAMME..... ITS IN TWO WEEKS TIME TODAY!!!!
