How does that save you money? The cost of a new mac comes in at nearly 1.5x the cost of a comparable PC, and that excludes the fact that Mac software is much much more expensive. And forget about upgrading, you gotta chuck out your old mac and buy a new one which gives it a really short life span.

Sure you COULD ask someone else and take a week to solve it. Or just use firefox (takes 2 minutes to download, 4 minutes to install) and never have these problems again

How does one go about switching to FireFox? Can someone provide a screen shot so I can see what it looks like!

Just click download and install. Its a small web browser, that you can add tons of new features that you want (like automatic advertisement blocking).
It looks similar to IE6, except you can change themes (to make it look like whatever you want).

I'm a Singhni with facial hair and it hasn't stopped me doing anything in life. With God's grace I am educated and have a decent job but no one wants to marry me. I'm everyone’s friend and confident and that’s all there is, no one looks further than that and I'm not bothered in the slightest (though my parents think differently). If with God's grace I do marry one day it'll be because someone accepts me for me. There is a lot of pressure today to look a certain way in order to 'fit in' and 'look the part' in society. For a long time i was ridiculed and laughed at (more by 'Sikhs' than those who don't know about Sikhi) but now as I've grown older and God's grace I have learnt from experiences and I can deal with it all.
I don't need a husband to complete me, we are here for a reason and we all have different views on what that reason may be. I don't feel the need to be accepted or even understood now, as my Sikhi is in-between Guru Sahib and I not anyone else. Sikhi is not an easy path to walk, but the joy and love one gets along this path cannot be matched by any other joy/event in the world.
Sorry if this post has nothing to do with the topic in hand but I felt like voicing a few opinions thoughts.

It really depends what sort of norton you have. If its updated, and the internet security version, then you're ok. If not, then you could still have spyware issues.
Norton or Symantec Antivirus, surprisingly, is only good against viruses. The internet security version has anti-spyware, firewall, etc all included as well.
I would recommend going to a free antivirus solution (AVG is good), a real time antispyware (like windows defender, free from microsoft) but more importantly....
switch to firefox!!! I was amazed before i used to get about 1-2 spyware every couple of months with internet explorer despite having antispyware, antivirus, and a firewall. Switching to firefox has brought that down to ZERO.

hmm... you caught me in an interesting play of words haha.
I will say this: even today, although caste, meat, sexism, dowries, and things like that are fobidden from sikhi, there are many people out there who still practice them, and call themselves sikh. This will worsen as time goes on. So a few hundred or thousand years, you will have many people who do not follow anything that we call sikhi today, but call themselves sikh. So the term "sikh" will be outdated... because everyone will use it to call themselves something which is NOT sikh by our guru's standards.

The difference in choosing the sikh path or the hindu path is that you must find out what the path was like at its inception. Only then was it true.
Every faith has rituals and stuff creeping into it over time, and gradually moves away from the true worship of God. So if you want to be a "true hindu" go ahead. But good luck finding out what a "true hindu" is, likely because there aren't very many left. Most people who would call themselves hindu are in fact practicing a screwed up form of it. The same goes with Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, etc.
The benefit of Sikhism is that being the most recent, it has the least amount of "filler" of rituals and stuff baked into it, so its the easiest and most direct path.

Well the test simply looks at what your answers are and guesses accordingly, trying to match beliefs with a religion. If you came across 100% for hinduism, then its a good chance that you agreed with things that are not a part of sikhi, but rather hinduistic in nature. Unless you post your answers, we can't say what you got right or wrong, but it may be time to reevaluate your thoughts in relation to sikhi.

Try to look into to see if there are any sangat type programs in your area. What I've noticed is that these sorts of programs usually don't have any politics or anything involved, and are usually strictly for the keertan and simran. The other alternative is to decide what days/times to goto gurdwara.
I know here at least when they have "major congregations" there is a LOT more politics and stuff going on, but there are smaller programs, saturday nights or sunday nights where its just some local sangat who get together for keertan.

It isn't "sikh architecture". Its simply arabic/indian architecture. Sikhi is a religion, the architecture and building styles are culture. So one might say that the design of a gurdwara might be important for symbolizing it is a cultural center, but that has little to do with sikhi.
For the sikhi component, the khanda flag (nishaan sahib) is what identifies a place of worship for a sikh.

To me, the point of a marriage isn't just to find someone to have kids with, if that were the only goal, then your parents choosing someone from a lineup would work. The problem is that MOST of the time, your parents DON'T feel the same way about many issues than you do.
I've seen it happen many times where parents are not into sikhi, and so they try and pick out people who have money, education, etc. for their (usually daughter), when the girl is trying so so hard to involve herself in a sikh lifestyle. The reverse is also true.
Basically, as stupid as this sounds, you have to follow your heart and your brain a bit. Your heart: Do you get along with this person? Do they understand your issues? Are they helpful to you? Your Brain: Do they share the same goals as you? Same beliefs? Same ideals?
Unless all the things above match, its a good chance the marriage may not work out. Note I didn't say "education" or "good looks" or "money". Those sorts of things will be what your parents will look for, but in all reality, will have NO impact on how happy the couple will be together.

Usually its best to do it from the line in of the mixer straight into a laptop, it maintains a very high level of quality. I know that the Archos Jukeboxes are very good for recording, as they convert directly to MP3 and support VBR and constant bit rates (like 490 kbps).

... and in addition to what jss just said, the clapping is done not as appreciation, but rather as a percussion instrument. It serves the same purpose as a tabla, providing beat. Its the same with singing, singing is wrong as "satgur bina hor kachee hai bani" but our gurus still say "gavoh sachee bani".
If the clapping is done to support the sachee bani, it remains pure also. There are never absolutes in sikhi. And of course, turn to Bhagat NaamDev Jee's recital of Prahlaad:

I am using the Firefox browser, and there is an extension called "VideoDownloader". On any site where there is a video (flash, avi, mpg, whatever) you can click the video-downloader icon in the bottom of the Firefox browser, and it will open up a new window with a direct link to the actual file. This also works for google video, youtube, etc.

Well, I personally use F-secure (Kaspesky) Internet Security. Not only is it better than Norton (97% vs 96%), it is much faster, and much much cheaper. It is also a full package, including antivirus, antispyware, firewall, parental controls (if needed), IEfilter, phishing filters (if needed).
So there are other alternatives that are better. There was a time when I refused to use anything but Norton. But looking at the bloatness and cost of their software, it becomes harder and harder to justify using it.

i use to work for symantec ( norton products ) . So take it from me dun bother using norton.. it takes up too much of ur pc resources.. slows the pc down.. it crashes most of the time.. liveupdate engine suxxx...

bhenji, i like norton . even though i takes lots of resources, but even then, its good antivirus. has a solid firewall . i m searching for it all over but can't get it. can u please give me the full version of norton antivirus.
