Nikalsaini or Narangkaria, a sect of faqirs whose origin is thus described :-

"After the battle of Gujrat and the pursuit of the enemy by Sir Walter Gilbert, the Khalsa (Sikh) army surrendered at Rawalpindi, and giving up their arms and receiving a gratuity of a rupee each, they were permitted to disperse to their homes. A great panic prevailed among the Sikhs of the District: very many cut off their kes or long hair, and were in great dread of being forcibly converted to Christianity. Some months after three men were seen going about the cantonments of Rawalpindi, dressed up in the cast-off clothes and hats of Europeans, and with shaven heads and face.. The eldest gave himself out to be the mahant or chief of a sect, and the others to be his chelas or disciples. The mahant played upon a two-stringed instrument known as the 'dutara' and he and his chelas. sang songs in praise of the English in general, and of John Nicholson in particular, whom they declared to he their guru. It should be borne in mind that during the Sikh rule it was by no means uncommon for faqirs to receive, through the good offices of the kardars or district officers, assignments of land-revenue from the central government at Lahore, for the maintenance of religions or quasi-religious institutions. John Nicholson was well known to the people of Rawalpindi. He had waged in the neighbourhood a guerrilla warfare during the hot weather of 1848 with Sir Chatar Singh and other rebels, and when by the proclamation of the Governor-General, dated the 29th March 1849, the Punjab was annexed, John Nicholson was appointed the first Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi. Therefore these men, by calling themselves Nikalsaini faqirs, were under the idea that the Deputy Commissioner of the District would feel flattered at being associated with a new sect, whose Guru he was acknowledged to be and would no doubt get them a handsome jagir or free grant with which to establish a dharmsala or. monastery all to themselves! But when they found that they were un-cared for by Nicho1son (I have been told that he had them flogged once), and got nothing for their pains, their enthusiasm cooled down, and after two or three years they were heard of no more. I often saw them and once or twice spoke to them in 1850, and, as far as I can remember,. they had not a particle of an idea concerning any of the doctrines of Christianity. They affirmed that the Bible was true, like-wise the Quran and the Granth! Indeed, I fancy that they were the originators of the Narangkarias, Nirankari, a sect of schismatic Sikhs, which sprang up in the Rawalpindi District about the time, and which 20 years ago, promised to bring every Hindu in the Sind Sagar Doab into its fold; but afterwards, for some unknown reason, a considerable number of the converts slid back into orthodoxy, and I believe there are few Narangkarias in Rawalpindi District now. The monument to general Nicholson is at the head of the Margala Pass, about 16 miles from Rawalpindi, on the Peshawar Road. I never heard of any Nikalsaini faqirs there: indeed, I never heard of the existence of any since 1852 or 1853, certainly never since the mutiny."

Bhagat Naamdev Jee is glorifiying surrender to SatGuruJee. Where is he glorifying the Gita? He says that even the Gita asks one to surrender to the true Guru! Note how he speaks against worshipping deities, so how can he say that Gita is an authority? As per my limited knowledge on Gita, I am not sure if Shri Krishan told Arjun to worship deities.

Yeah, Maharaj did create some of their own rags, but some most are either adapted versions of indian rags or actually indian rags

Actually that scholar gave rare information as he has spent more than 30 years on that particular reasearch he said that none of the indian ragas match matches SIKH RAGAS as mode is distinct from indian ragas there different type of stop and pause in THE GURBANI unlike indian ragas gurvani must be sung in that form. Unfotunately even I used to think differently why dancing is banned in gurmat as the indian raga has negligle link with SIKH RAGAS. In 1994 some kathak dancers did sing sikh ragas in dancing form but shockingly no sikh group took note of it despite the fact that it was a conpricacy by antisikh forces.

Just last month I came to know about a important fact that during a address by a sikh scholar in a GURDWARA SHAIB in delhi that SIKH RAGAS are not taken from indian music system in indian ragas there are two ragas one north and other south in both systems there are just 3 ragas. In GRANTH SHAIB there are 32 ragas and tone of singing is according to pattern of grammer and tone in GRANTH SHAIB AND IS ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT THAN INDIAN RAGAS IN INDIAN RAGAS THERE ARE 3 RAGAS AND OTHERS ARE RAGINIS. In south indian pattern ragas are sung in dancing form.So RAGAS contained in GURU GRANTH SHAIB ARE NOT THEINDIAN RAGAS .Further in hindu belief DEEPAK ut in RAGA is consisdered dangerous but in sikhism it is asgood as others RAGAS .BHUL CHUK MAUF I WILL WELCOME ANY INFORMATION FROM THE MEMBERS.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), headed by Simranjit Singh Mann is on the verge of split as Daljit Singh Bittu, senior vice chief of the party, is adamant to continue to be co- convener of the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC), despite the warning issued by the party chief.

The fissures within the SAD(A) had come to the fore when party president had announced the snapping of ties with the KAC. Bittu had merged his Shiromani Khalsa Dal with the SAD (A) at Akal Takht on June 9 last year and became its senior vice-president.

But both have indulged in most undignified manner of mudslinging as some members of party having leftist leanings have created the rift.

Talking to The Tribune here today, Bittu said he would actively participate in the forthcoming meeting of the KAC. He said he had taken this decision since the KAC had been doing a great job by organising Panthic marches against the living gurus, especially Dera Sacha Sauda chief who had been indulging in blasphemous activities. Bittu said after consulting his confidants he would take a formal decision whether to snap ties with the SAD (A) or not .

However, he said he had been receiving a number of calls from India and abroad suggesting he should serve the Panth by organising Khalsa marches, being organised by the KAC .

SAD (A) secretary general Bhai Ram Singh however, reiterated the party’s stand that Bittu would have to decide whether to remain with the party or the KAC as announced by the party president . He said Mann had already made it clear that no party leader could hold position in any other organisation. “ Party discipline is more important than anything”, he said.

Earlier, Bittu held a marathon meeting with Kanwarpal Singh, a spokesman for the Dal Khalsa and Harinder Singh Khalsa, a former MP in the office of the Dal Khalsa here to discuss next course of action . However, the meeting of the KAC which was proposed to be held was postponed due to lack of quorum.
