This is what I don't understand. Why do people say stuff like "you are wearing bana but you should improve your nitnem, etc".

How on Earth does the other person know my nitnem or naam simran?

    Anyways..

    "Jatha"?

    LMAOOOO

Khalsa back then did jhatka, Khalsa is not a "jatha" as you say.

    "Raising my avastha"?

I smell a bit of ego.

I never said " jatha" mate.  - I said jhatka.

Neither did I say nitnem bani, I said Naam Jap, whic is waheguru gurmantar simian. At least half hour per day to start with.

I smell ego of your desire of tongue taste. If you don't want my suggestion, which comes from my own experience and not what someone told me, then "on your bike lad" good luck

  2. Do the 3 Naam Jap, Vand shakh and kirat kar

I've known a few that were cutting hair but continued with the 3 pillars of sikh. Over time, and as they continued living and doing 3 with pyar, they ended up making their own minds and keeping hair.

It comes automatically from within after clearing doubts.

  3. You don't need meat for protein. It's just a bull5h1t myth.  The proteins you get from meat are from the food chain of the plants consumed by animals. Plants make the major proteins using nitrogen from the air...animals can't do this.   The primary source of these major amino acids(amino acids make protein) are plants.   The other proteins are made inside our own bodies such as enzymes, c-reactive protein. blood proteins, and conjugate proteins used for immune system.

I'm NOT saying all this as some pro-veggie type, because I was an extreme meat eater before I started abyaas. I used to feel that my meal was incomplete without any meat. I would always insist on meat and 2 veg.     After a year or so of heavy Simran and raising my avastha, I developed a natural repulsion from all the meat products and was suddenly liking the taste of raw fruit and veg.   As mentioned in other thread, I went on to lose weight whilst also aiming to convert body weight into lean muscle. I can;t believe the results I've had with working out and sticking to veggie plant based diet.

I know the meat eating nangs and ted's will come out with their weaka55 jhatka stuff, but all that is another story. I used to do the same and would always rush to show someone the hzur sahib jhatka videos... nowadays. I understand the situation better, it's a shame the young nang's don't and go around eating willy nilly..

You guys ill only get it if you elevate your avasthas by doing naam jap.   The maas maas shabad by Guru Nanak ji says this-  "fools who argue over flesh know NOTHING about meditation"

Wondering if the shift from ghee to vegetable oil has played a factor.

    Yes.  Definitely.

I actually came off cholesterol med by shifting to ghee, virgin olive oil and coconut oil. Use NO other oil for anything.

Do any of the millennials even know what "communication" and "talking" to real people in the world is?? I mean, are there any younger folk who can learn and develop mutual understandings of other without social media, texting or using their goddmned thumbs?

I personally believe a fat person whose flab is leaking onto more than one seat in a train or bus should pay for two tickets

I wanna know if you had fat parent/grandparent, or relative,, and was purchasing their ticket for them,  .. Would you buy two?   … really be honest and have a think before you answer. Don't let ego answer for you.

  7. it's all about diet.

The food is what screws you, especially processed stuff. Cut out ALL artificial crap and GMO's from diet.  Eat fresh veg, fruit and superfoods. Then train a few hours 3 -4 times a week.

A lot of apnay train and train like mad, but then they go and eat crap at home, then wonder why the weight don't come off.

Just cutting out everything made in a lab, will boost your natural adrenaline and have you energized all the while. Check labels on foods and google what is artificial man-made ,  and what is not.

I've lost tons off my belly and transferred it into solid muscle. I've gone from rolly polly, podgy waist line to a pumped V shape torso with an inch on my chest and lats.

All faiths are right. We as Sikhs have no right to criticise how people follow their religion.

    Guru Nanank Ji

    Clearly states

'If you are a Hindu. Be a good hindu. If you are a buddist be a good buddist.

We belive all faiths can reach God.

Obviously If you belive Sikhi is the right choice for you then we welcome you.

There is no silly concepts in our religion such as non belivers are going to hell like christianity and islam.

That is what attracts droves to our faith.

    Agree,

    here's one shabad……..

    ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੧ ॥
    Salok mėhlā 1.
    Shalok, First Mehl:

    ਮਿਹਰ ਮਸੀਤਿ ਸਿਦਕੁ ਮੁਸਲਾ ਹਕੁ ਹਲਾਲੁ ਕੁਰਾਣੁ ॥
Mihar masīṯ siḏak muslā hak halāl kurāṇ.
Let mercy be your mosque, faith your prayer-mat, and honest living your Koran.

    ਸਰਮ ਸੁੰਨਤਿ ਸੀਲੁ ਰੋਜਾ ਹੋਹੁ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਣੁ ॥
Saram sunaṯ sīl rojā hohu musalmāṇ.
Make modesty your circumcision, and good conduct your fast. In this way, you shall be a true Muslim.

    ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਬਾ ਸਚੁ ਪੀਰੁ ਕਲਮਾ ਕਰਮ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥
Karṇī kābā sacẖ pīr kalmā karam nivāj.
Let good conduct be your Kaabaa, Truth your spiritual guide, and the karma of good deeds your prayer and chant.

    ਤਸਬੀ ਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਖੈ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥
Ŧasbī sā ṯis bẖāvsī Nānak rakẖai lāj. ||1||
Let your rosary be that which is pleasing to His Will. O Nanak, God shall preserve your honor. ||1||

    ANG 140

The SHABAD does NOT say abandon your faith. The faith believes in One God. This is fundamental for a sikh. The muslims are to "learn" how to find God because they've been following wrong set of man-mad guidelines from their mullahs and higher priests.

Guru Nanank ji has NEVER spoken against the texts. He's corrected the wrong practices that are not word's of God. Wrong practices do not mean they come from texts. Practices come from peope who twist the texts for their own agenda.

In above shabad, Muslim holds his place of worship-mosque in high esteem. On the other hand he may behave 100% unmerciful and uncompassionate towards others.   Guruji says,  mihar mastit sidat. "let mercy be your mosque" let kindness and compassion be your place of worship.

Then Guruji says, "let faith be your praymat" ie. Bow down and be humble to your belief in the One God. Let this belief be your prayer-mat.   The koran represent the text of guidance, the rules or lawa of conduct, so Guruji says let hak halal- honest living and not taking "hak" from someone or ripping them off for what's theirs as your Text of rules. ie. Live honestly; with strict adherence.

Circumcision is act of obedience and purity. It's NOT even mentioned in quaran , just a pagan tradition that crept in. Guru Nanak ji says "Make modesty (not bigging up islam ways) as your act of purity nd obedience.  AND roja hohu -Good conduct as your fasts.(sacrifice of food).. ….. Practice good conduct towards the path of God(kabbah) and let the TRUTH be your guide. REMEMBER Guru Nanak ji is teaching the TRUTH and Truthful living.  This is the spiritual guide.

Instead of empty chanting, and walking with rosary whilst pretending to please God but not chanting the name of One God/Allah from heart,  Guru Nanak ji says plant the seeds of Good karams. Write the account of food deeds - "Kalma karam nivaj"

Are there any downsides to switching to Apple?

what do you really think of apple?  It's cool?

Well, you want to go and check some info about it because there is nothing cool about having a laptop whose company has enough secret tools to remotely access your webcam without your little green light switching on. everything they have, every app, every disclaimer you sign is about granting access.  RSS agents use apple to spy on people on this forum.

Mac apps(all of them) can take screenshots whenever they wish to. Even when they are not being used and are in the background. You won't get any warning and it's all done quietly. Worse still, hackers can use OCR to read any text on pages that you enter. They can use any of the apps to steal your passwords.

You know back in the 80's, when I was at high school. We used to laugh and tease the kid that had an apple macintosh computer at home. That's how bad their image was. It was all about having a commodore or zx spectrum. Even schools never touched the macintosh and had BBC computers installed. You couldn't play any games on a mac and you couldn't even plug in a joystick fro what I recall.   The company has been given a lot of help by the big governments and co. in return for favours to help spy on the dumbed down generations that are rising.

Apple?  mera kelaa.(long live the banana)

Personally, I'd recommend Lenovo, HP or Dell.  Thes have reputations and don't hide anything in the background.  IBM made the first processors and they had always been dedicated to privacy and security of business. Although IBM was sold off some years ago, IBM divisions of personal machines is now called Lenovo. That's why you will see old thinkpads with IBM logo, whereas newer ones have Lenovo logo.

No, your spouse in this life, may have been your father mother, sibling, child in previous life.

Gurbani calls all of these "bandan" chains/bonds of MOH.  The MOH has to be eradicated and overcome in this life by dying in the shabad. This shabad is not the shabad that is akhree (one you read). This shabad is Heard. Only heard in sukham ears.

Well, bro, there are two aspects of Sikhism: miri and piri. Miri is the temporal, worldly aspect.

In order to have resources to conduct miri, you have to have money. And that's what he's asking about.

So why not ask your Sikh brothers about good ways to earn money, that will also be in accord with dharam di kirat? Where else would he ask that? General forums don't care about a business being in accord with Sikh maryada or not.

I grant that this particular forum "What's Happening" might not have been appropriate, but the question is indeed vital for us as Sikhs.

Miri Piri.  Miri is about money?   I've never come across this and find it difficult to understand.

Also, what is DHARAM DI KIRAT?  How is that different from KIRAT ?

Isn't KIRAT done as per karams, since this body is given to perform the weight of karams ..bani says Karmee avai kaprah.?

Another question, You also say(imply) that Maya=Money.    My question is  "WHAT IS MAYA?"  is it confined to money?

Bai things are harder to digest , they take more bodily effort to break down then they also can create extra gas/inflammation in the system e.g. gobi, yoghurt . Because of the overuse of antibiotics/steroids, increase in processed foods  the digestive tract is low on beneficial bacteria so you get younger people getting problems with bai than you would traditionally see. Garam masala is added to our foods to keep the digestion ticking along nicely as well as ginger . Yoghurt is one of those things that people add black pepper to because of bai

    Yeh, she's got it.

For Bai, you need to take garam foods.  Haldee and black peppercorns, as well as ginger mentioned above.

As for pro-biotics,... I'm still trying to suss them out. I'm inclined to believe that home-made dhayeen has sufficient amount of pro-biotics that we need.

Agree, that antibiotics, which apnay take willy nilly for the occasional sniffle, ..do you more harm than good. Use alternative anti bacterials/anti fungals like oregano oil.

I would also pay attention to all the akhar (even sihari or aunkar after a word). This way you will read with less mistakes.

I personally also need to stop and pay attention to all the akhar as well.

Spot on.    Since I've been doing this, I've noticed just how many paathis mispronounce many words. The SIHARIS seem to be ignored and overlooked the most. I've actually learned from a old friend that in some words, it is imperative because your tongue won't initiate the same spiritual effect inside you.

I need to buy a new one soon. Mainly for study purposes, but also web-browsing, and maybe to watch videos.

I do not want to buy Apple - only Windows. Screen should be 17 inch or bigger.

Is it better to buy a laptop or buy a computer that has a small 'tower' with a separate screen?

I need something reliable, so please suggest good brands from your experience. I have used Dell for a long time but want to use alternative company.

    Thanks

!7 inch or more are mostly gaming laptops.  15" or lower are usually for reg. web browsing, videos.

You need to be aware of this because gaming laptops are about double/triple the price of smaller 15.5" or lower.

Dell Alienware is best recommended for 17. if you want go lower, then look at Lenovo. They are what used to be IBM. the most secure and fail safe laptops in my opinion.  I've traded many of these especially the Lenovo yoga's.

tGet Sikh Punjabi's to partake in a genetic test or become more aware about them. And I can guarantee, having already seen the results of Jatts, Khatris, Rajputs, Tarkhans, that there is no little to no difference. This will erase any doubts about genetic or familial superiority when they realize they're the same blood and people. And as for the Dalit populations, well they are the original inhabitants of Punjab, and therefore we all have a substantial amount of Dalit "in all of us" as evidenced by the "South Indian" and "Baloch" component we share with them, so there is that. Anyways, I don't think genetic tests should warrant how we treat someone or not, but it helps in bringing us closer through logic.

Here's some results for those who are interested:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mTH_BnLv9riKKwHeNpjFmu7flT6_ekTuYij0juxnjb4/edit#gid=1369294505

To break it down, I'll explain the major components:

South Indian - pretty obvious (this is found in Dalits/Chamaars in heavy percentages - approx. 60%).

Baloch - this is not named after the Balochi people, however a Gedrosian component that came to South Asia from Iran during the Indus Valley, it's also referred to as Iranian Neolithic Farmer.

Caucasian - this is from the Caucasus, believed to have been passed on to us from the Aryans.

NE Euro - this is not from the British, but has also been passed on to us from the Aryans who mixed with populations living in the Eurasian steppes.

    Totally agree

Christianity in their opinions is so easy and lenient, no need for rehit etc. But if you look at a true christian they are dedicated and always talking about God.

These so called Sikhs becoming christians will leave christianity as well because they are not pakey to begin with.

You hit the nail on the head!

    This is the problem. >>>

There are too too many confused and halfway sikhs that are never sure what they really should be. This is why hundreds of thousands jump around different babay shabay deras from radhasoamees to darshan dassees  Until our pacharaks don't put their foot down and show the positive qualities of security, strength and righteousness,>> we will forever be going around in the same circles.

You right, true christians>>the orthodox,  practice naam and mantar simran. All the stuff about naam and God's temple being within was taken out of the bible when King james standardised it. A lot of the catholic mystics and teachers were elbowed out because they taught about finding God within.

Ok i won't judge. I am kinda new to this stuff and like i was searching videos to learn about gurbani and i liked giani thakur singhs explanations and talks. I then wanted to see more of him and stuff. I respect giani thakur singh.

I was just asking if this video was fake or real. Im not trying to anger anyone here. If u got angry im sorry. Please forgive my mistakes of thinking badly of giani takhur singh. I wont do this ever again. Im sorry. ????

i'm not angry mate. Gyani is good and us british born sikhs with some weakness in understanding dooung boli find gyani quite good cuz he explains on our communication level with simple punjabi.   In other words, the common valaithi munda and kurri, can listen to him as if listening to their parents.

I mean, lets be honest, would you like to be judged on some past mistake of your own for the rest of your life?   >>>of course not and neither would I.

Just browsing through facebook. I have seen quite a few profiles of Sikh women with christian slogans in their profiles.

At least 4 have converted to Christianity.

What can be done about this. Is it the parents fault or has the Sikh community as a whole failed these kids?

Many Sikhs are growing up with simply no belief in Sikhism. They say that christianitu makes more sence to them. Which is obviously wrong.

    SO?

Why you feel it's a christian threat?

Its only a threat if you feel threatened. A sikh of Guru Gobind Singh doesn't get scared or feel threatened.  It;'s about REACTING your GURMAT REACTION to any action

  20. I would add to this>>> but most sikhs wont grasp it unless they have spiritual experience.  Major learnig curve in abyaas is awakening to the realms that exist.  The granths and gurbani are actually talking about these and not physical earth plane.  We just plonkas for thinking that everything is here and in this planet

Can't believe you didn't know about this? It was about 2 yrs or so. YES, it aint no bull>> it;'s all real.

Should make you realise that we are all in the shackles of maya.  BTW. I know who this family is but I would be a fool to say it on the forum. They're well respected and good singhs who really put themselves out doing seva for gyani ji.
