  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Pyaari saadh sangat ji - The Ragi singh at our Gurdwara always has a theme every week - last week it was "Lord as Protector" There were two shabads of Kabir sahib "Ganga Kinare Meri Tooti Zanjeer - Mrigshala par baithay Kabir" and "Prabh Khamb te Niksay Kai Bisthaar, Harnakash chediyo nakh beedaar" and the couplet from Salok Mehalla 9 "Bal Shutkiyo Bandhaan Paray - Kachoo Na hoth upaay Kaho Nanak ab oat har - gaj tio hoh saha-ae" On the way home my 12 year old son asked - "But then Papa - what happ
  2. There are discussions going on in some threads at the moment about whether Sheikh Farid ji was a Muslim. I would like to hold these discussions in one place, partially because they are extraneous to the thread titles in those other threads, and we should let those threads discuss the specific items that the thread creators wanted to originally discuss: http://sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/80863-human-rights-in-islam/ http://sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/80838-why-muslims-should-never-be-trusted/ I propose that Sheikh Farid ji was not a Muslim at then end, whatever he may hav
  3. Bhagat Kabir Ji writes on Ang. 1365 of Adhi Guru Granth Sahib, "Kabeer, when you are in love with the One Lord, duality and alienation depart. You may have long hair, or you may shave your head bald." What does Kabirji mean here, and more specifically, why would this be included in Shri Adhi Guru Granth Sahib? The Khalsa is instructed to wear unshorn kesh, but Bhagat Kabir Ji seems to say that is not relevant in merging with God.....then what's the point of being keshadhari? Blessings, Bhagat Singh PS: Neither Bhagat Jayadeva nor Bhagat Namdev wore unshorn kesh, and many other bhagats (i
  4. A collection of his writings are in a book, and some of the English translations say this (they're accurate): "i saw nothing in chanting Ram, and i saw nothing in books" "If there were another God besides You, what would it be? If it were that way, then what would it be? If it were this way, then what would it be?" "My lips wont utter Ram, My Ram recites me, I have found peace, Kabira!" These are poems of Bhagat Kabir Ji translated to English. I'm really looking for help in understanding them. Thanks! For more of an idea of where its from, this is the book http://www.google.ca/imgres?
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCvO76yG0vM (shabad) http://searchgurbani.com/guru_granth_sahib/shabad/1792/line/4 (Gurbani) The line that's sung the most is highlighted, and before the ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਹਨਿ ਰਹਉ ਰੇ part of it, is he adding his own "Sakhi mai" or something like that? Is this wrong? Is there another shabad that includes that? Did Bhagat Kabir Ji's original poem include that?
  6. WJKK WJKF! The SIKHI EXPLORED team (university students) has just published its 8th article.. This edition is on the life of BHAGAT RAVIDAS JEE and will reveal stories about his life, as told by Sant Maskeen Singh, Sant Waryam Singh and Baba Lakhbir Singh. Who was he? What did he do? Why do Sikhs show him so much respect? The article will answer these questions and use examples from His teachings and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee to tackle 'caste' issues, which are still prevalent in society today (despite the Gurus abolishing it centuries ago!)
