  1. I tie a Punjabi style dastar with starch. Why do people hate this so much? Once I was tying my dastar and my neck seized up. The apna doctor said holding that position daily for more than 5 mins is dangerous. He recommended a starched pagg like his dad ties. I took the advice but I still respect Dastar more than life. If someone TREATS their Dastar like a hat just because they don't tie it each time then this is unacceptable but just because one puts their pagg on their head rather than tying it each time doesn't mean they treat it as such. (and let's be honest, starched or not we've all put our dad's pagg on our head like a hat when we were kids as a joke and meant no disrespect. Intention is everything). I know Singhs who get angry tying their pagg and start doing maa/phen di gaaliyan, and when they take it off they just throw to the side and wait to tie it again next time. (Also, I'm from a Jat Sikh family so pls don't try to make this about "starched paggs are tarkhan/caste based" or anything stupid like that). PS: I do remember that stupidness in the 90s/early 2000s UK when Sikh men used to have a tiny starched paggs and were completely clean shaven or had a little goatee like Herbie Sahara/ Vijay Bhatti from Achanak. Now THAT was stupid and deserves all the hate but I just mean the concept of a starched dastar whether it's Punjabi Style, Kenyan style or whatever. I think if we respect our Dastar then that's all that matters

    Glasses

WJKK WJKF I have a big problem with wearing a dastar. After I tie my dastar (triangular style), I slide my glasses into the lars, so they sit behind my ears. This makes the dastar higher on my ears, and messes up the look of the bottom on my face, giving the pagri a much wider look. The glasses I have are thick plastic frames, and I can't wear contacts due to a financial situation. Is there anyway to adjust my pagri to fit the glasses without them ruining the look of the dastar?

    Turban Questions

Hi everyone I have decided to wear a turban for the rest of my life. I have some questions that I would like your help with please - and only sikhsangat posters would be experts :biggrin2: So here goes - I am tying a round turban with an orange keski underneath. My technique is to tie a orange keskhi. I then get the larr and cover my head by holding it directly vertical in the centre of my forehead i.e. joora and orange keshi is covered. Then I wrap it all the way around and I tuck in the final larr at the end. So the questions - 1. I have noticed some people have turbans which are flat at the top but with me - you can see my joora (covered) - it is really obvious and I have been 'checking' out other peoples turbans and they are flat with no joora. How do people get it flat? 2. Turban for sports - My turban gets loose very quickly - how do you get it to not get loose? Sometimes I am scared of running or doing sports 3. Too tight around ears - So i thought I should make it tighter to make it less loose and now my ears hurt - Is it supposed to cover the top parts of your ears? 4. Sleeping - so if I want a nap (middle of day) - my turban literally falls off! Do people sleep in turbans? How do they keep it looking neat. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers
  5. Hello, My question is what do you do if you are involved in a fight and your turban falls off , or the 'enemy' tries to rip it off? What would you ? Would you fight and dont care if your hair is seen? Take it off by yourself and wouldnt give him the chance to take it off? Run away? Please some serious thoughts - because this can happen everywhere and everytime . I mean if someone else sees your hair, what would you do/think/react?
