Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji kee fateh. I know of people who have taken Amrit that come from non gursikh families and after a number of years their parents or one parent takes Amrit. My question is do people do ardas to maharaj for their families to become amritdhari?

I am a sikh girl..I know somewhere in my mind the importance of naam simran..And I have experienced the bliss as well by doing naam simran..one day I completely engrossed myself in naam simran..but the very other day my mind was not ready to accept the fact that naam simran is the only source of peace and gettin relieved from this world.i know it is sounding weird since some time i feel naam simran is the only way out but the other day i feel why am i doing naam simran, who has told me to do so..Kindly help me to strengthen my believe in naam simran so that I can make my birth successful. Vjkkvjkf Sangat Ji, So my dad is either confused or doesn't know the first clue about Sikhi. I am an amritdhari and sometimes he acts like I am emotionally blackmailing him? I have no idea what he means. I think it's because he has expectations of what he wants me to look like or be my personality like. I can't pretend to be something I am not but he does not understand at all. When I wear kurta pajama or a hazooria he gets mad LOL. Sometimes I would wear gurmukhi fastest with yellow keski and he would get mad. How do I make him understand that I can't change who I am. Thanks

Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it. -
Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. back then was waaaay different. ppl didn’t attend higher education or have much to do after the age of like… 13, lol. you’d have 13 year olds boys and girls that know how to do kethi, cook entire meals, etc nowadays even 22 year olds are extremely immature and can be sheltered. the average person doesn’t know how to do anything except their 9-5 which they are probably half arsing as well.
