  1. Bhenji are you sure your on the right website? from a sikhi stand point, veer Singh123456777 said it all. I don't know what to say. Is your family ok with moving in with him? Again this is not to insult you but are you looking for a religious/sikhi point of view or western style couples counselling? And I know someone who is similar. I wish I could say they change but if they are punjabi and not sikhi oriented they tend to go in a downhill spiral. alchohol, opium all that crap. Is your boyfriend trying to become religious?...i honestly don't know what to tell you b/c I'm not sure where your coming from
  2. Right click the file, properties and tell me what format the video file is in so we know what we need to convert it from. it will be something like these: .mp3 .mkv .mp4 .mov
  3. I'm reading Life stories of great sikh saints by Dr.Hakam Singh. I wanted to share this with the sangat because I normally think of the only right way being Sikhi and everything else being false (including other religions) but then I read this: While at Baagh a Muslim Pir, Murad Shah Kukara, who was a big landlord of this area also, came to see Baba Nand Singh Ji. When Baba Ji heard of his arrival he came out of his room to meet him. The shah bowed and then took his sash (which he always carried around his neck), spread it before Baba ji and said "I have come to a perfect fakir today and am not ready to go back empty handed". Baba ji stayed quiet for a moment and then said " Do you know shah ji! That what you are asking for comes at a price, and I hope you know that price?" The pir replied " Yes sir, i know the price for what I am requesting is my head." Baba ji then said, "Think and tell me whether or not you have already given your head to someone else?" The shah stayed quiet for some time and then picked up his sash and said " thank you sir, you have already filled my sash because you have restored my faith in my preceptor." pg 172 What I gather from this is that Baba ji and other mahapurakh not only help sikhs stay attached to god but also help other people stay on their own paths. I think this also shows the power/bonds formed when we offer ourselves to someone/something in this world. We must be careful because the price of betraying ones religion in favour of another, even though they lead to the same source, seems to be a dangerous. Obviously the on true lord is the creator of all, but maybe there are temporal consequences? Forces that act in the world/powers that surround religions? Anybody else wanna add in their 2 cents?
  4. VLC is probably the best media player available: http://download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-13632_4-10267151.html?tag=mncol;1 that link is a safe place to download it from if your concerned about virus's and what not.

    Is there GOD?

I'm not singer23 veer ji, singh23 and yes your kinda right. A hypothesis remains a hypothesis until proven. Once something is a theory it has been experimentally proven which allows us to make predictions based on the theory which will tend to be right. What you have to understand the god particle is not something that came out of nowhere, it gained media attention now but its been researched for years. In order for our current model of physics to be acceptable we needed a particle that imparted mass onto objects. Which is the higgs boson or god particle. It's named god particle just because it interacts with almost all particles and imparts mass on most of them. Progress? yes, we know its real now, which is huge. This allows us to confirm our current mathematical models and carry on. quantum cosmology is way past mesons and bosons now though, its almost confirmed fact. The problem is to further understand these particles we need upgrades in technology that allow us to see the particles long enough to study as they are very short lived. The extra dimensions and membranes and strings may seem like science fiction but its got some hardcore science behind it. either way we will find out in the next few years, if the world doesn't end that is
  6. But remember people, this doesn't work with goreh!! I learned the hard way when I was working in retail and helped put furniture in an old mans car. He was going to tip me a 20 and I followed proper indian protocol and said "no, no sir, its ok". Mind you I was reaching out for it at the same time. The gora said "well your a nice lad" stuffed the 20 in his wallet and walked away. leaving me looking like: :blink2:
  7. Being distracted while your doing naam simran is a good thing, it's a sign that your on the right path. There are things trying to distract you to prevent you from reaching your goal. Keep fighting, everyday go to the gurudwara and pray for strength to continue and sadh sangat.

    Is there GOD?

Although your attempt to use physics is wrong, I still agree with "Something cannot come out of nothing, so there must be a creator". The current hypothesis in quantum cosmology is that before the big bang there were two 4 dimensional universes that collided resulting in a 4 dimensional universe expanding in a 5th dimensional plane. This was the big bang. As for all of the energy not being accounted for, you are referring to dark matter and it is most likely going to be discovered that they are actually super-symmetrical particles such as super bosons and super fermions. As for force surrounding the universe, there is no such thing. Everything is accelerating away from a centre point of the universe including light. Nothing can break the speed of light according to physics...like ever. So therefore if we sent any radiation out into space hoping it would bounce against anything and come back its impossible for it to go to the edge of the universe and come back. Because the universe is expanding just as fast. We know generally what the universe looks like from inside b/c of cosmological background radiation. And to add some more read up on M-theory. It basically says the basic constituents of matter are strings that vibrate and the resonance of these strings are carried across all eleven dimensions resulting in the resonance being expressed as particles. In short read up bro because physics is going to some insane places right now, and as soon as the LHC in CERN is up to 7000 GeV the collider is going to be capable of producing particles the we need to prove string theory! IT IS AN EXCITING TIME TO BE A NERD! and to the OP, there is a god.
  10. I locked my sister in the closet once....does that count? They probably did, but only when they had to. The prisoners were probably so overwhelmed by how nicely the were treated they probably converted... In a perfect world. I dunno, I've been reading some more about our history between the time guru gobind singh ji merged with akaal purakh and the khalsa raj fell. From what I've read so far, which isn't a lot mind you, the panth kinda imploded attacking each other. If it got that bad, who knows what the armies were doing to the enemy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I wish I were, It's kinda depressing.

LOL ahaha, I guess I did lay the smackdown on his candy..... .... sorry If I went a bit overboard but my point was to say that what will happen will happen. The only thing we can do is jap naam, bani. And the funniest thing is, if we did more bhagti and talked less about when something/whats going to happen to the world because we are not doing bhagti, this whole situation can be averted! we all can be quite moronic sometimes :s

I SOLVED IT! If you do a google search for the years, you find a website outlining which days Mardi Gras has taken place in the past and when it will take present in the future! MARDI GRAS stems from a Roman Catholic Tradition. I took the the days it will/has taken place from the website and came up with these 6 numbers: 18 2 22 6 4 16 I took the first 3 numbers and came with the correlating shabad from the bible: Genesis 2:18-22New International Version (NIV) 18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” when searching for the next three numbers I found a line out of Ephesians 6:16 "In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil." Therefore it is these days that a "suitable helper will come onto this earth and stop the fiery arrows of the devil"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ............now being a bit more serious Stop with these cryptic hints and messages. There are 4 situations here: 1. You have been given a warning through god/ a mahapurakh which you have been told to spread as much as you can because of the horrible times to come. In sending cryptic hints and messages you are not doing your duty and should fess up. 2. You have been given a warning through god/ a mahapurakh which you have been told to keep to yourself in which case you suck and shouldn't be attempting to get some attention with this information. 3. You have been doing a lot of research and listening to katha and know something you should share but your being annoying and are keeping the bulk of it to yourself and alluding to it with small hints. 4. You go on the internet and believe everything you read. Yes the world is going down a dark path but we don't know when/what things will happen. God read some bani/simran because realistically there is nothing else you can do. If you know something, the time has come to either fess up or shut up.
  14. People keep debating about whether the world will end or not. But there's another question: Should this world end? We know the true reason for living. Simran, Bani, Seva. Reflect upon your own life and see if you uphold these principles. Do you fulfill your duties as a sikh or do you feel like you contribute to the disease that has taken hold of this world. This world is so lost and we as Sikhs have been given the responsibility to do something about it. But we don't. We squabble: over whose pocket the money in the golak goes to, whose jatha is following the more puratan rehit, whose right and whose wrong....the list can go on quite long. Where are the sikhs that people used to be in awe of? The sikhs who even going through such hardships still fought for the hindu family who had their daughter stolen, who still served others before they served themselves. Why are the gurudwara langar halls, and I'm speaking from a western point of view, filled with fat punjabi kids stuffing their mouths with samosas. Where are the poor, the needy for which this langar service was started. Why don't they know they can come to the gurudwara to get help regardless of caste/creed/race/religion? But I guess if we are not going to listen to parchar and give ourselves to sikhi, how are we ever going to show others how great the darbar of the guru can be? If the Sikhs of the Guru have failed in spreading Naam and Bani in the world, there's no one else left. So what's the point of prolonging it, bring on the fire and brimstone.
  15. He will love you because god loves us all, but your punishment will be severe, do not give away this life. Don't think I will get an A+ for effort, no way. There are somethings you start that must be completed or you end up worse than before. Amrit and gursikh jeevani are one of them b/c after tasting amrit and naam and going back into the life of maya everything will taste fikha, it will never be the same bc you know its all BS. If nothing can console you, go do ishnaan, find a clean place and isolate your self and do naam simran until you literally can't do anymore, then come back and tell us how you feel.
  16. you will be considered worse than a murderer. Because you had knowledge, you had gyan, you understand the purpose of this life which is to do naam simran, you know all dukh in this life is rab de bana, gods will. By killing yourself you reject gods will, you throw away this life and immense opportunity. You take guru ji's gift of amrit and throw it away. The funny thing is you post this right after the day we commemorate the chalee mukhteh, the 40 singhs who rejected sikhi b/c they were tired of fighting and going hungry. They left and guru ji kept a slip which they all signed which they said they were no longer the guru's sikh. Their life went so bad they ran back and fought and died for guru ji. As Maha singh lay dying guru ji asked if there was anything he wanted and maha singh begged for their renunciation paper to be ripped, and guru ji did. Maha singhs face was washed with the Guru's tears. If you commit suicide you will not be forgiven like maha singh. The hard thing for them was to go back into to the battle. That is what you must do. Life can be like crap but you have to just keep getting back on the battle field no matter how many hardships you suffer. Naam will be your strength, Bani will be your shastar, Gurmat gyan will be your shastar vidya. You will strike down your enemies, all five, you will conquer your mind/battlefield, Man Jeeteh Jag Jeet, and when the clouds of paap, maya, enemies get too thick and you can't find safe passage, ardas to your guru, your constant companion, will be the light that guides you to the next battle.
  17. how do you position your eyes during meditation? staring at nose, rolling the eyes back into your head? do you squeeze them by any chance?
  18. I dunno, through school I've met quite a few amritdhari youths who do swear. It was so surprising the first I heard it I just stared open mouth at the singh and he just continued on. They don't say fateh either, like they're embarrassed. Not too embarrassed to swear though :s edit: I'm not perfect though, it does come out every once in a while especially when you're so used to hearing it around you. But if its all the time you have a problem.

  20. Mod this thread is getting out of hand, people are insulting pizza which is intolerable. What has it come to, kaljug must be at full strength right now
  21. it could just be congealed blood from a bruise, still worth checking out at the doctors at the very least.
  22. I would be beaten by jamdhoots and I would probably go through chaurasi again... how do you guys think you've done? be honest, good or bad.
  23. Does anyone have any information/english literature on Sant Baba Ranjit Singh Hargobind Ghar wale? Online searches only return katha done by Dhandrianwale Santha about Guru Hargobind sahib ji
  24. You need to find an athletic therapist or if not a chiropractor. It's safer to check it out, much less time consuming than rehab from a ligament rip or a tendon rupture. Does the joint click at all on its own? does it feel like its locking up, or not able to go the full range of motion? Does it hurt only during practice or continue afterwards as well? Sharp pain, radiating, pins and needles? Have you ever had this injury before?
  25. As to the authenticity of the biography, It was written by Sant Baba Seva Singh Ji Rampur Khere Wale. Chaloh veerjee, your are set on your views and I on mine. As long as we believe in Guru Granth Sahib as Guru and try to follow Gurbani I don't see any harm in our impasse. Because if we agree Gurbani is the ultimate protector, whether pooths/preths exist, we are both right. Hopefully we can agree on this
