  1. Forgive me, but I am unable to reference my sarcasm... "A historical account, one of many, of Guru Gobind Singh jee commanding us to wear kakkars is in a description of the first amrit sanchar in 1699 in Guru Kian Sakhian, Bhatt Sarup Singh Kaushish, 1790: "Thereafter, Guru ji pronounced, 'on your rebirth in the Khalsa Panth, your previous lineage, caste, creed, calling, customs, beliefs and superstitions, etc. stand annulled from now onwards. Transforming you into the Order of Khalsa, I have endowed you with the apparel of the Almighty God, you shall have to keep its honour. Before administering this nectar of steel, I also bestowed you with five kakaars (Ks, i.e. defining emblems). You have never to keep them away from your body even by mistake. I gave you, at the start, a blue keski, kangha, kirpan, sarbloh ka kara and white kachhehra. In the event of the loss or misplacement of any of these, get its infringement pardoned in the Sangat by going to Gurdwara without any delay." " taken from http://www.akj.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=281 Now everyone cheer up :T: May the Force be with you.
  2. what about a stripy one then? Or one with stars on it? How about one with mickey mouse on it? Gurmukho, Kecheira is Guru Sahib's bakshish, Gurmatt requires a certain type of discipline in order to stay Chardi Kalha. You may think I'm talking cack, parr meri gall kahee yaad rakhiyo! Kacheiray da Satkaar rakho if nothing else.
  3. Sometimes the answer we seek or the theories we apply are more complicated then they need to be. Kacheira should be white, because it instigates discipline. No one would wear a dirty white kacheira would they! A black one, well you can't always see how clean it is. Remember here that scientifically, white is not actually a 'colour'. My two shillings worth!

  5. Gurfateh Ji, Yes, they have similar security to the airport. You will have to pass through a metal detector and also have your bags scanned. Unfortunate thing about Eurostar is that you can't check your luggage in, therefore you might not be able to carry a Sri Sahib with your luggage either. Perhaps someone who regularly uses Eurostar could clarify how they normally deal with this?

  11. As far as I know Bhai Manpreet Singh will be in Italy that week. I do believe he is in the UK the week following the Smagam.
  12. Singh Ji was very well spoken and he got his point across very well. The interviewer was just doing his job, I don't think the question he asked was very constructive but what was interesting was that he described those who can't tell the difference between different religions/ethnic groups as "stupid". On the whole, being given time on the news is definitely a step in the right direction on a very long road.
  13. What can I say, my SatGuru is everything, my mother, my father, my lord, my master, my teacher, my companion.... Many Sajjan recite the full Pauri before and after doing paath or undertaking any task for that matter. Click here for the full translation.
  14. Gurmukho, the shabad is: "Paatee torai maalinee paatee paatee jeeo ", not as you have quoted it. You can view the full shabad here Good luck with finding the shabad!

  18. "Fear is the path to the darkside... Fear leads to anger... anger leads to hate... hate leads to suffering" (Master Yoda) And so true!
  19. singh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease! When we go to school, or work for that matter, and our teacher/boss gives us work to do, we are not obliged to do it, but it is in our best interests to comply, for the sake of educating ourselves or earning a living... If we decide not to comply, we get kicked out of school and become bums or lose our jobs and again become bums! This is just an analogy, but same with Nitnem, if you don't comply with Guru Sahib's hukam you will have to face the consequences - whether you recognise them or not.
  20. Oh My Gosh! You're a liability!! You do realise I could have you done for Hit & Run!!! Anyway, before you do some real damage - PUBLIC TRANSPORT!!
