  1. WJKK WJKF Please can everyone watch the forthcoming Channel 4 TV dramatisation titled, 'The Hamburg Cell'. This is the first major TV dramatisation of the 9/11 hijackings involving two years of research for the programme makers. The programme is on Channel 4 at 9.00PM BST, Thursday 2nd September 2004 UK. Apologies for the North American and European communities but I am not sure if C4 is available on digital satellite/cable. You have 3 days before the programme is transmitted please check with your service provider. You may need to record the programme as the time difference will mean the North American community will be at work. http://www.channel4.co.uk/listings/C4/inde...et=3&position=3 Jeevan
  2. Question, How did the British Museum come in to possesion of this particular Shri Guru Granth Sahib? WGJKK WGJKF Jeevan
  3. Dear Sikhs, Please contact Amnesty International www.amnesty.org, your Local MP as the Coalition Forces out in Iraq are supposed to protect ALL workers in the re-building of the country. Contact our Sikh papers Des Pardes, The Sikh Times, Panjab Times, British Sikh Federation. I don't hold out for much hope for the Indian goverment in protecting the Sikhs. As for the SGPC as a Sikh organisation acting on our behalf you can draw your own conclusions. Jeevan
  4. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/5983_91...99,00430005.htm Did the Hindustan Times go to a different rally to what US Sikhs attended on the 25th July 2004 at Trafalgar Square? How many Hindus do you recall seeing? Raj Karega Khalsa Jeevan
  5. To Jahan, it was great meeting you. Please do not be disappointed by the numbers, considering this was lead by the youth and Gurjeet Singh, National Press Secretary, Sikh Federation (UK) stated, 'an official protest is not being organised by the Sikh community', we have ALL done amazingly well. I see this is a rallying cry to other Sikhs who did not come on Sunday to now get on board. This event was brought to the attention to the Sikhs by various individuals. From this literally overnight, meetings were held, numbers gathered, coaches booked, code of conduct published, banners printed, a uniform in clothing agreed upon, then the Sikhs rallied on Sunday 25th July 2004 at Trafalgar Square as one voice. To top it up, the media, the police, right wing & left wing groups, the good people of Britain and Tourists knew what we were all about. We made friends with each other and managed to reach out to vast sections of the community in a country we love and respect. :TH: I slept like a baby on Sunday night, I know Al-Muhajiroun did not sleep at all. They will have many sleepless nights to come and will be bickering amongst themselves by now. Jahan, if you ever feel down or have a question, leave a message up for me. Be careful though DO NOT give each others identities away. Waheguru will keep you. You sought to protect His people He w ill seek to protect you. :TH: WGJK WGJK Jeevan
  6. To Gursa Singh, Thanks for your comments I was one of the Sikhs who attended the the Rally. A big thank to all Sikhs who went. I see Northants did not get a mention. I appreciate I was the only one from Northants but hey it was the quality not the quantity. :TH: There will no doubt be other events where Sikhs who did not attend yesterday will be there (in much bigger numbers) with us in the future. We have set an example, others will follow, I have no doubt about this. Yesterday was just the begginning of something much bigger to come. No doubt I will see many of you Sikhs in future rallies. :TH: Raj Karega Khalsa!!! Jeevan
  7. I was there today, and it was Sikhs like us that can show what can be done. Waheguru only wants us to take one step then he will carry us to where we need to go ALL THE WAY. The NF and BNP argument was with Al-Muhajiroun today. Only a extreme group like Al-Muhajiroun could bring together Sikhs, Hindus, right wing groups, left wing groups, gays and lesbians, That is some achievement Al-Muhajiroun achieved today. They do say 'God works in mysterious ways'. WGJK WGKF
  8. I have just come back from Trafalgar Square. A big, big, big thank you to all Sikhs, Hindus, and other organisations that turned up today to oppose Al-Muhajiroun who as everyone knows by now failed to show up. The Sikhs turned a negative in to a positive. When it came to the crunch, Sikhs turned up in mass from all parts of Britain, staged our protest peacefully and it gave us an opportunity to tell the British people what we are about. Many thanks to the Sikh organisers for putting this protest together, the Police for allowing us to protest, and other individuals and organisations that are too many to mention. WGJK WGJF
  9. Dear Sikhi, The British Media is now reporting the rally. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3923327.stm Islamic group rally 'to go ahead' Omar Bakri Muhammad accused London's authorities of bias The spiritual leader of an Islamic group has insisted an unofficial rally will go ahead despite threats of prosecution by London authorities. Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad said his group Al-Muhajiroun, which is alleged to have extremist views, was entitled to meet in Trafalgar Square on Sunday. Mayor of London Ken Livingstone has written to the group warning of prosecution if the rally goes ahead. The sheikh said by-laws for the square were being used unfairly against them. 'Not controversial' Mr Livingstone wrote to Al-Muhajiroun's leader in Britain, Anjem Choudary, to warn him he risked breaking the law. The Greater London Authority was successful in using by-laws to prosecute Mr Choudary after a 2002 rally in Trafalgar Square. The sheikh claimed London's authorities were biased in their treatment of Al-Muhajiroun. He insisted the group's "controversial" tag was not warranted and said he was committed to peace and decency. He told a press conference he was not worried by the possibility that extreme right-wing activists, from groups such as the British National Party, might attend Sunday's event. Several hundred Al-Muhajiroun members are expected to take part. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim Parliament, said a mosque or Islamic centre was a more appropriate pl ace for such a rally to be held. To all Sikhi going today please 'keep your wits about you'. We have decided to stand up and be counted for Sikhism now our Waheguru has put his hand upon us and and will lead us to Victory. "Raj Karega Khalsa". WGJK WGJF Jeevan
  10. Dear Sikh Sangat, For those attending the event, please ensure you carry water, small amounts of food, medicine you may be on, A to Z London, etc. London prices are very expensive and it will be a long day. Please refer to the weblink below to establish the weather for the day. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3866 WGJK WGJK PS Tarunjeet Singh I have left a message on your phone please can you give me a ring.
  11. Dear Fellow Sikhs, Please be on your guard against falsehood from so called friends from other communities. I have been monitoring these events extensively across all the various media types, and I pulled this of the following website:- http://forums.gawaher.com/index.ppa?showto...pic=15232&st=15 It reads as follows:- Posted by Yasmin Asalaamualaikum I know alot of people from other faiths are offended by this event because apparently in the last one when the people took their shahadah or in some other part of the event they put down the religion they 'used' to belong to. Thats not exactly fair isit, just because they are joining Islam does not mean they should put down the other faiths. If this information is wrong then please do forgive me. Isit really good dawah to have a spectacle like this? Why the need to do it all in public in front of thousands? Isit true that Sikhs who 'convert' on that day cut their hair and take off their turbans on stage? That disgusts me, thats not the behaviour of true Muslims. The part about having different stalls where Islam can be discussed debated, and shared is a good idea, but this whole public show and spectacle just doesnt seem right to me. And doesnt sem good dawah, what are passing by non-muslims going to think? 'Oh theres the Muslims again trying to convert everyone on the planet, and thinking so big of themselves for converting these people today'. Sis Sparkllz I would have to disagree, I think some people are in fact pressured into doing it., we cannot say that every person up th ere is there of compleyely their own free will, and even I would feel a bit pressured to carry something out if I just walked on stage in front of thousands, even if say I was not ready to take my shahadah thats better than feeling embarrassed and walking off! Hmmmm I dunno i'm in 2 minds about this event. I can see its positived and good sides but also things that concern me. Asalaamualaikum Edit: I heard that the mayor of london actually refused permission for this event to take place and so might take action if it does?? Does anyone know if thats true  This post has been edited by --Yasmin-- on Jul 20 2004, 18:39 This is surely not the same Yasmin who has been posting up on our www.sikhsangat.com? If it is the same Yasmin, please explain yourself by what exactly do you mean by the statement "I can also see its positived and good sides..." My dear Sikh Brethren please be careful who you trust! WGJK WGJF
  12. Sat Sri Akal, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3872289.stm Please read the article above and then contact your local Gudwaras, local councillors, MPs, the Labour Party and the Mayor's Office to ask for Ken Livingstone's resignation. Can you blame Al-Muhajiroun in persisting to go ahead with the rally especially with the Mayor’s track record? The Mayor has been incredibly insensitive to all minorities such as the Jews, Christians, Hindus, and Sikhs etc. I spoke with the Mayor’s Office, they are refusing to issue a statement against the rally as they feel it will only give Al-Muhajiroun further publicity? What hypocrisy, it is OK to invite a controversial Moslem Cleric but the Mayor’s Office feels it is not necessary to condemn this illegal gathering schedule for the 25th July at Trafalgar Square. WGJK WGJF Jeevan
  13. For Yasmin, Thank you Yasmin for your kind comments. I will take it you will be there on the 25th July London’s Trafalgar Square together with other moderate moslems opposing Al-Muhajiroun? Jeevan
