  4. RajanSingh, Bhai Tejinderpal Singh Ji is a GurSikh who has done so much kirtan seva for Panth and to simply call him "Doola" is bit disrespectful. Please use his full name next time. Rehraas audio link: link
  5. One way of looking at it is that during the time that a laptop is being used for Gurbani purposes such as STTM or Gutka then wash your hands and treat as you would any Gutka. Once you are done with the Gurbani use, treat as a normal laptop.

  7. My opinion on which transalations should be used is that if the person doing the translations actually lives a GurSikh lifestyle, does Simran, has Amrit Vayla, is proper in Rehit, etc. THEN that person's translations should be considered. IF that person has KAMAEE then listen to that person. If the person doing the translations is a bookworm and has 10 Phds but that person has never done a single minute of Simran or has no Nitnem, Amrit Vayla, no Rehit, then why listen to that person? Because of the 10 Phds? I think not. If that person has no Kamaee then that person has no experience in GurSikhi. Others listen to people who have Kamaee. Look at the GurSikhs like Bhai Vir Singh Ji, Bhai Randhir Singh Ji, Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa (DDT), and others they had Kamaee and people to this day still read their books and are influenced. No one questions them. People like Ghaaga believe that the path to God is through the mind, what they are missing is that the path to God is through the heart. It doesn't matter if you don't have all the Giaan in the world, you can be an illeterate, but if you have love and longing for Guru Sahib, he will bless you.

  12. Hi-MDs work great. All you need to do is hook up 2 Minidisc mics to the Hi-MD recorder. Pretty easy and the quality is quite good. You can buy more mics, amps, and so on and you will get better results but the setup time and hassle is too much. Here are some links if you go the Hi-MD route: http://www.minidisco.com/Sony-MZ-NH700L_2 2 of these you will need: http://www.minidisco.com/Sony-ECM-MS907?sc...amp;category=29
  13. Singh2k, one thing that I will recommend is that you start doing Paat everyday, start listening to kirtan, and attend local Sangat on a weekly basis. The reason for this is that without reading Gurbani everyday, listening to kirtan, and attending Sangat on a regular basis you are not watering the plant of Sikhi inside of you. Most parents tell their kids to keep their hair at a young age and once the child becomes older, doubts and negative influences take over their minds and lead them to cut their hair because they don't know why they keep their hair and they don't have the power of Gurbani and Sangat behind them. Sikhi doesn't stop at keeping one's hair and wearing a Turban. That is only the first step, most people can't take that first step or if they do, they step back. If you can't read Punjabi, that's no problem, get an English Gutka. Start doing Jap Ji Sahib everyday. If you can't do it initially burn a Nitnem cd and just listen to the Paat each morning before going to work/school. Also make sure to find local Sangat and attend on a weekly basis. Without watering our Sikhi plant within us it will become weak and possibly die. We have to take care and maintain it. So if any negative thoughts do enter our mind, they will have no effect on us due to the protection of Guru Sahib because we read Gurbani everyday. It's very easy to go down the wrong path, it takes no effort at all. It does take effort to remain steadfast on the right path. We have to make sure that we never let our guard down and fall victim to going the wrong path. In order to be a successful Sikh you can not do without Gurbani and Sangat. And I don't mean small doses of these, you need LARGE and CONSTANT doses of these. :D Some useful links: English Nitnem Gutka and Nitnem MP3 tracks: http://gursikhijeevan.com/media/audio/inde...i_Jarnail_Singh Nitnem.pdf

  16. Actually it is a fact that in the Golden Temple there is a sign in the kitchen that says that only Amritdharees can make the Langar. Something to think about. Also when people say that veggies for example are handled by others before we use them that is true. The idea that you eat food made by Amritdharees applies to the finished product. Of course everything we eat is grown by others and harvested then we cook it into something. Yes it is handled by others, that's not the point, and that can't be avoided. So the finished product is what we are talking about. That should be made yourself or an Amritdharee person if you are Amritdharee, not the ingredients that it took to make the food.
  17. I can tell you that at my local Gurdwara most if not all who make the Langar are mona or they wear a turban but shave their beards. And I used to eat at the Gurdwara but inside I felt that it was wrong. Knowing who was preparing the Langar without regard for proper Langar Maryada hurt. I was also told by others who did seva in the kitchen that some of the sevadaars would "taste test" the Langar without regard for Jooth. I once was talking to one of the Sevadaars, he was mona and he was eating his breakfast in the kitchen. And right next to his meal, I mean like 2 inches away, was a container full of Degh cooling off. He was litterally eating his meal on the Degh. As I was standing there, someone told him to take the Degh upstairs in the Darbar Hall. And as he was eating, he put down the food that he was eating, and picked up the Degh and took it upstairs. I was shocked. So after these incidents I stopped eating at my local Gurdwara. You can say why don't you tell them to do the right thing. The reason being that no one would listen. Monas run the Gurdwara and they make the Langar. Vaheguru Rakha..
  18. The Singhs involved did an amazing job. The cool thing was that the Singh who was proving ghagga wrong was so cool, ghaaga was left quiet. Great job Guru Kay Singho!!!
  19. I'm not taking any sides here, I know nothing, but I am just trying to present all sides of the debate. As far as RehitNaamays go, I was referring to the ones written by the original Panj Payarays as guided by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Also I think that if you take Amrit and your Panj Payarays say that only eat from Amritdharis, how can one debate that? Why would one debate that? Something to think about.
  20. Can you do ardaas for a turkey on a platter and do ardaas and give it to Sangat? Does it become pure?
