  2. Forwarded Press Release Third Sikh Holocaust Memorial Events in Chicago Sponsored by the Institute for Conflict and Peace Studies and the Sikh Religious Society Chicago, IL June 5, 2005. The Institute for Conflict and Peace Studies (IFCAPS) and Sikh Religious Society, Palatine organized a three day program to focus on Holocaust and genocide studies. On 4th June, 2005, a conference was held on Holocaust memorials and their impact in resolving conflicts and promoting peace. The research papers were presented by Dr. I.J Singh (New York), Dr. Amrik Singh (California), Dr. Swaranjeet Singh of IFCAPS. Prof. Jaginder Singh (Chicago), Dr. Amarjit Singh of KAC Washington, and S. Kulwant Singh (SRS). Dr. Swaranjeet Singh, Executive Director of Institute for Conflict and Peace Studies (IFCAPS), underlined the importance of promoting peace through resolving nagging conflicts in society. He identified more than 150 explosive spots for the escalation of conflicts. In the second phase, he said that efforts can be made to resolve them for promoting peace in the society. He further declared that the role of IFCAPS was academic and recommendatory in nature. He said he vowed to undertake the conflict studies under IFCAPS as there was hardly any endeavor made in that area. It would benefit not only South Asia but also the other marginalized communities of the world where conflicts were taking a big toll on the society. Dr. Swaranjeet Singh showed his deep concern at the growing trend of animating Sikh history. The animation of Sikh Gurus and Sahibzadas can’t be accepted as it is not different from theatrical production. He said there should be a debate before anything like this raises its ugly head to confuse the masses. The following decisions were taken by IFCAPS at the conference: 1.The entry of Indian Army into the Darbar Sahib on June ,1984, would be observed as Third Sikh Holocaust (Ghalughara) 2.The attack on Sikhs following the death of Indira Gandhi would be observed as Fourth Holocaust. 3.28th October every year would be observed as Sikhs Human Rights Day. Efforts will be made to set up Punjab Archives Dr. I.J. Singh, a prominent Sikh scholar, held that the effect of holocaust was tremendous on younger generations. Referring to the attack on Darbar Sahib by Indian Army in 1984, he said that it was not a civilized way to resolve the conflict. The use of force to exterminate innocent visitors in Darbar Sahib, Amritsar was horrendous and tragic. The entire community was traumatized and there was very little effort made to resolve the conflict with good faith. Peace can be promoted only if conflicts are analyzed and solutions are provided. His focus was on the Diaspora Sikh response to this event in Sikh history. Dr. I.J. Singh expressed the need for an oral history project so that the events of 1984 are never forgotten. Dr. Amrik Singh, a representative of IFCAPS in California, analyzed elements that constitute holocausts. The pattern was same in all holocausts that took place in the world. The majority community has exaggerated view of its own superiority and wants all others to accept subsidiary position. If any one doesn’t accept the lower grading and becomes an eyesore, a biting attack would take place in the garb of some veiled threat to the fabric of society. Referring to 1984, he said that it was a very systematic invasion on the patriotic people who were in the forefront of freedom struggle. Indian Army was given 48 hours to clean up therefore, the operation was done in accelerated manner without giving any thought to the loss of life of innocent people. Prof. Jaginder Singh Ramdev presented his paper on Akal Takhat and its importance. He said that the institution of Akal Takhat was misused many a time in the history of the Sikhs. Dr. Amarjit Singh of the Khalistan Affairs Center analyzed the resolution passed at Akal Takhat in 1986 and said that it was still relevant. He gave a number of reasons to justify the demand of Khalistan. Mr. Kulwant Singh Hundal spoke on the rampant use of drugs in Punjab villages. The youth of Punjab was threatened to be consumed away in the addiction to many intoxicants. How to wean the youth away from harmful use of drug was the major thrust of his paper. Harvind Kaur conducted the seminar in a very efficient manner giving equal opportunity to the audience who wanted to participate in the debate. A documentary written and directed by Harvind Kaur was screened. The short film titles “Keep the Faith” gives basic information about the turban and shows how a turban is tied. The documentary is now available in DVD format. Schools, institutions and other interested individuals can contact IFCAPS (info@ifcaps.org) for a copy of it. A candle light vigil was held late in the evening at the Palatine Gurudwara to commemorate the Third Holocaust that took place on Darbar Sahib from June 3, to June 6, 1984. More than 200 Sikhs took part in the vigil. A soulful tribute was paid to the memory of all devotees who exemplified calm, courage and sacrifice in the face of death. The artillery, mortar guns, tanks and missiles were used to kill innocent civilians in the Darbar Sahib. It may be the only incident in the history of the world when army turned their aim at their own people. Along with a few speeches the attendees did simran and viewed a slide show of photographs of the actual attack in June 1984. Another attractive event of the three day program was a discussion of the panel of representatives of different communities held on 5th June , 2005. The Documentary “Final Solution” produced by Rakesh Sharma was shown. It wasfollowed by a penal discussion. Mr. Dinesh Sampat of Hindu Community, Mr. Joe Anthony of the Christian, Mr. Rahul Depankar of Buddhist & Dalit, Mr. Inthiaze and Mr. Rasheed Ahmad of Muslim community, and Mr. Baldev Singh of the Sikh community participated in the Panel Discussion. Mr. Rajinder Singh Mago moderated the discussion in an appreciable manner. First of all, Dinesh Sampat of Hindu community said that Vedas are scriptures of universal values. All the principles of Vedas, if followed in their letter and spirit can end many problems that plague our society today. Mr. Anthony said that Christian community was under a great threat under the communal leadership of India, but their meaningful intervention from USA helped in punishing the guilty ones. Mr. Rasheed expressed a great hope of intercommunity relationships and appreciated the organizers for holding the event. Mr. Inthiaz also held that if no effort is made to resolve the conflicts, they can plague the whole society. The most exponent of all member participants was Dr. Rahul Depankar who said that he had had the opportunity to speak in Sikh Gurudwaras about the condition of Dalits. He said Guru Granth Sahib doesn’t support any discrimination of Dalits and seeks to provide equal opportunities to the have-nots. However, he wasn’t happy with the practices that allow Sikhs to treat Dalits like most Brahmins do. Mr. Baldev Singh spoke about attempts made to isolate Sikh community from the rest of the country. The feelings of hatred were created for political purposes and to overshadow overwhelming contribution of Sikhs in the freedom struggle. The ghostly past of 1984 can never be forgotten, whereas all out efforts have been to erase the tragedy from the memory of the people. The façade of secularism and democracy was against the minority community, he added. The Board of Panel adopted unanimously a motion concerning with the controversial decision of French Government to deny the religious rights of some people. They resolved to write to the Government of India about officially taking the matter with their French counterpart. The response to the panel discussion was really a salutary one. More such programs were requested by the audience Swaranjeet Singh info@ifcaps.org
  3. Sikhnet being a supporter of this animation rejected my original post. Replying to GSingh question who says that Christinaity and Hinduism have not suffered? My response to Sukhwinder also **************************************************************** Why have Christianity and Hidusim who have copied animation/dramas not suffered? Christinaity started as monotheistic and non-idol worshipping faith, but adopting the vaules of personfying jesus, it became an idol worshipping and Polythicistic faith. They revere mary more than God and consider Jesus as God, even when their bible doesnt say that. Do we want the same to happen to us? When are we going to connect to the Shabad and not pictures/idols/movies. It is a shame on who so ever has done this and people who are blindly supporting it. Right now the only strict religion which doesn't allow human art endeveour playing with their messenger is islam. We all know how much they are strong in their spirit. Are we sikhs that strong? We don't even have a country. Muslims are much connected to the message of Koran then connected to the Deh of their prophet. We are the ones who are connected more with pictures and animations then with the shabad. And now we even have people making idols and justifying it. How can someone make such a thing without consulting the panth? People here were lashing on Bhindrawale for not consulting the panth(even when he consulted the sangat),here we see the same who are ready and set to personify/commercialize or history without consulting the panth. Aren't there other means to make money?Aren't there other good things which we can do if we really care about Sikh history? If it is really panthic why $15, Infact your website says that you do this stuff for commercial purposes. I can get a hollywood movie for less than $15. I would say Why not make a historic movie otherwise,Why animation which is an activated picture? Infact Why not make movie of Bluestar, if it is really a panthic Karaj? You are today making on sahibzadey, I am sure tommorrow your step would be to make on Punj Pyares, then we will have conflict and confusion in Panth that who is our guru, is shabad our guru or was Deh our guru? It is wrong because the custody to represent the messenger rests in hands of producer who having a business interest always gives a filmy touch far from truth. The truth rests under his direction to represent it and he can mold it. When would be realize this? The art of Humans and art of Waheguru shouldn’t be brought on same table. Art is an instinct to represent which is something in the boundaries of humans and not outside of it. It will be dangerous to play with it. The thing which we should be concerned more about it Shabad Guru and message. Connect ur kids to Shabad and not Deh. They would forever remain confused and would never connect to message of Bani. And yes you must agree with the decision of Sangat and we must discuss this if this is going to rake controversy or divide us. What ever the decision would be should be accepted as Guru’s. Why run away from it? Mr Sukhwinder, you and your crew would be liable for this degradation of Sikhi and for all the questions you would have to answer in the near future.
  4. The reason we don’t do Animation/Movies etc of Gurus but can do for any historical human figure is because there is a very thin line between Gurus and humans which represents respect. Yes, history can never be said exactly but we need to have some respect for gurus whose acting we can never express exactly. We can never make exact human figure or animation which represents them. It is out of respect that my guru is superior to me and I can never copy his acting and bring myself to the same level of behaviour. Here is the catch Picture only represent Physical form but animantion represents behaviour. I don't really care how my guru looks, but I do care if anyone wants to copy the behaviour of my guru. Yes we can copy any other acting like ranjit singh or Jassa Singh ahluwalia etc although we still might not be able to copy the exact move, but we are not insulting our guru anywhere. Trying to Copy the verbal, physical, emotional expression of gurus is not only insulting but dangerous too. We cannot copy the hukam of God. Humans can’t act like Gurus. If that is so then our gurus are below humans. Before making such movies, there should be discussion and debate in sangat. This is my opinion and should be everyone’s too.It is sad and unfortunate that people are bringing up their own controversies without consulting the Panth. There should be a overall discussion and debate on Animation. Secondly, the pictorial portrayal of gurus doesn’t say anything about the behavior of Gurus which talking and walking in animation does tells and which scale would we use to judge the best behaviour? Well, that would be based on manmat. Sincerely,
  5. Jassa SIngh or ranjit Singh are not our Gurus or Sahibzadey? How can you ever produce the same voice with same emotions which was originally done by Sahibzadey? YOu can never becasue that was done under the HUkam of God and you trying to copy the Hukam.
  6. Sangat ji fateh from Sahibzadey.com About movie So we will have profit building exercise on Sahibzadeys showing them in cartoons.SHAME If any anyone could confirm this, if the Sahibzadey are shown speaking? How much is DVD priced? Some days back they were trying to show in Gurudwara and Sangat objected. Secondly there is a difference between pictures and moving pictures speaking wheather it is of Gurus or Sahibzadey. Could we ever make the exact same acting which the real sahibzadey did in motion 300 yrs ago? Yes or No? If no then if it is not insult then what it is. We will just reduce our Sahibzadey to another comic cartoons of teenage mutant ninja turtles. Should we make motion pictures of Gurus with Humans speaking the language of Gurus? This is abuse.
  7. www.sahibzadey.com Tommorrow they will make animation on Gurus. We must stop this commercialization. We need to contact Gurudwaras and issue Panthic Alert. Contact organization like SALDEF, Sikh Coalition etc.

  9. I have been noticing BBC is crossing it limits of ethical journalism when reporting news about Sikhs. Please send your protests. Is there any Sikh organization who can sue BBC for stooping so low. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4571987.stm Please go see comments, in particular by Adam,UK "Once again it seems the Sikh faith is the most intolerant in the world, with ANY criticism leading to bombing, riots or other types of violence." Do something!
  10. Hey that came out of heart bhenji Bhenji you are right why work for someone who doesn't care about work ethic but rathe worry about how we look from outside? BTW I think it is myth that shaving grows more hair afterwards. Anyway If you could give me the Hawala of it i.e. Reference.
  11. If they are true khalistani, that s cool. BUT BE aware of this Chohan, He seems to be a indian govt agent. It may also be another indian govt tactic to show india is becoming free of spech and wants to drive back the khalistani back to india so they can torcher them, also india uses a lot of such tactics divide sikhs.
  12. BTW i want to know on what charges was reyat arrested? Also I agree with you that evidence is laughable but also unfortunate for canada. clearly there is movement by the canadian media and govt to make sikhs as scapegoats. canadian justice system is already a farce, hopelfully they won't go the way indian justice system goes.
  13. Hello I have seen the documentries by CBC, I dont trust them. They sound so racist. "two sikhs arrested for bombing plane" Would they say "two hindus arrested....."two christians arrested...."two muslims arrested..." having worldwide protests! But asking justice for sikhs is I guess too much for the canadian media. I mean talk about evidence, they don't have evidence against malik and bagri. What about the evidence which CSIS said againg Indian consulate? I don't believe malik and bagri did this. I tell you what will happen on march 16. canadian gov and media need a reason to make sikhs scapegoats for forever sikhs live in canada. With every news report they are projecting all sikhs with terrorists projecting the term sikhs and terrorist a synonym for them. 20 years and you don't have proof for anyone that did the bombing? I am sure Indian gov did it. why would sikhs kill sikhs? I dont understand. Canadian gov wont end this case, they will try there best to preserve this incident (done by the indian govt) forever to malign sikhs as terrorists.
  14. I saw this documentry here by CBC news http://www.khalsa.tv/?view=9 I don't know and can't understand who is guilty. I want to know why was tara singh hayer killed and they mention the editor of newspaper Des Pardes. Documentry says bagri told tara singh that he did it. They also show FBI sting operation on sikhs? What is that about? Please I am very naive on this whole thing which has happened as I am not born in Canada so please tell what is the truth?
  15. Please tell me who is inderjit Reyat who I read pled guilty?
