  1. there's a programme on the BNP on sky three right now.
  2. There is a need for youth converts that are outside of the faith. Some of the most powerful leaders are usually of non Sikh birth. They adopt it in later life. Seek out people that are naturally leaders and began introducing them to Sikhi. of course, how did i not figure this out sooner? we brown people or punjabis are too stupid to even look after ourselves, so lets get someone else in to do it. as the ones you want are not brown/punjabi/sikh to begin with means that they are perfect in all possible ways and always honest.
  3. lol, i'm on about being out there for months on end. it dont matter what they say about nutrition or variety(!) of what they already have, the soldiers will be greatful. i've been told that they do have shops on the bigger bases over there but they dont get stuff like nando's sauces or that jamaican one (dunno what its called).
  4. what have you given? i'm just asking to get some kind of idea on how we can help as you obviously know so much about it already.
  5. i wonder what they were talking about.
  6. yogi bhajan is pro-sant ji? thats news to me. though i havent seen any of these supposed pictures.
  7. Exactly. Joint gurudwara committees, refusing to give surnames if you think someone wants to know your caste, intermarriage, refusing to help or encourage discriminatory acts etc is the way to start. i also think that each village in the punjab should be looked at and local solutions found to overcome caste issues. at the same time, we need to be aware and watchful of any attempts by outsiders to instigate divides in the panth.
  8. funnily we sikhs could be considered a small proportion of the overall punjab. none of us can deny the fact that the hindu control of our gurudwaras under the british and people who were pretty much hindus acting as sikhs have had a major effect in retarding our community. of course they are not solely to blame. but lets look at racism - its not the same everywhere (idi amin wasnt white!). the same goes for casteism - it is a little different in the punjab to the rest of india. for example, the benefits that the chumars get from actively labelling themselves as such. i know jatts do bad things to keep the caste thing going. but others are as bad. so we all have to do something about it. as for conspiracies, dont you feel blame where blame is due? the brahmins got the ball rolling (and by brahmins i dont mean just the caste). btw the link doesnt work.
  9. anything you send will be appreciated. just an idea: send some spicy sauces (or ketchup or anything that adds flavour to meals) as you can imagine the food out there can get depressing after a while.
  10. who are 'ourselves'? i'm not casteist but i know that caste issues are a lot more complicated than just saying "we have no one but ourselves to blame. The sooner we wake up to that fact, the quicker things will get rectified." never held any influence? oh dear. its not good to talk in absolutes unless you have unequivocal proof to back the statement.
  11. my poor friend, i dont like getting angry with other sikhs or feeling that i am the only one who uses my brain in our lot...... look at germany - hitler started a stupid party that most people would never vote for. but then he realised: his policies were doing him no favours. so he changed what he said to suit the people who could get him into power. they thought his new policies were for their benefit and were happy to go along with it. once hitler was in power, the old policies came back. you should know what happened next. the bnp is coming to the same stage, they are testing the water to see what they can get away with. once they realise that actually they should create policies that appease voters, then they will gain more power. once they are in power, they will still be the same people they were 5/10/20 years ago and act out all the delusions they went on about before they learned to keep their mouths shut in public. heed the warnings.
  12. http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread...;highlight=sikh http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread...;highlight=sikh http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread...;highlight=sikh read post no. 5, especially the part about 1984. http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread...;highlight=sikh http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread...;highlight=sikh and thats just a handful of views from one forum.
  13. dalsingh, i'm not quite sure what you mean as i said those things in my post. its not all their fault, sikhs are just as bad. but its not a case of being totally our fault or entirely their fault. the truth is their are a number of factors all coming together and causing these caste issues - and each one needs to be addressed. once again i am not saying we sikhs with a jatt background are off the hook for the bad things that happen.
  14. lol, they arent doing anyhting worse than the average gurudwara committee. though i would like to know if they are linked to 3HO and the picture that appeared of a virgin mary in front of a khanda.
  15. all good ideas. but we need to tell the youth that gurbani is of central importance in our lives. that means other things we learn are important 'satellites' to our mind and go hand in hand with our guru's teachings. unfortunately for some people in the panth they think bani is the only thing we should learn in our lives and they end up becoming the sikh versions of those christian/muslim/jewish fundamentalists.
  16. COV, why dont you spread your info on other forums? sikhawareness.com might be a good start.
  17. you should explain that a bit better as it could mean anything Fateh! I recall hearing somewhere that Singhs who were suffering from thirst while in battle would chatka a dusht and drink his blood then continue to fight without having to go back to camp to get refreshments. Khafi Khan in his book Muntakhabul-Lubab describes how some Sikhs in Bhanda Bahadur's time may have had to eat flesh from their own limbs to survive a siege. At the end of the day, if you are in dharam yudh, you do whatever it takes to continue the fight. If it means eating a roast Mughal for breakfast, so be it. K. hindustanis are quite skinny so i dont think they would be good to eat. a tubby brahmin on the other hand might be good if diced up and added to some thuri and paneer. :D
  18. either that or diane was poor/ugly or the attacker was off his face on drugs.
  19. of course your right tejvir, but lets face it the gurudwara committees wont do it. some are run by hindustanilovers, others are just there for the money or other dubious reasons. if we set up english missionary colleges and a british gurudwara committee, who would run it? some people would kill for the power/money. other amritdharis would do a half assed job. and if it wasnt done properly it would just alienate the moneh and keshdaris even more. and lets face it they are the ones who do better at school, life and fighting the enemies of sikhi. i hope any future leaders read this and realise that a united panth is a lot more useful than spartanising our faith.
  20. lol, and i thought discussing meat was banned! i think its a bad argument to say we are made out of meat. we dont want anyone starting a cannibal derah.
  21. ^^^ lol that little icon in the top right of the picture is the funniest thing i've seen in ages. intelligently done, congratulations to you.
  22. if the panth knew anything about the history of others and human civilizations, we would not be surprised that governments or powerful people lie. no one is truly good or completely bad - its just the way knowledge and pictures are spun to give that impression. and these hindustanis have been at it for centuries.
  23. rather than complaining you have no one to look up to, why dont you become a leader? live a life based on sikhi, learn and study hard and complete your education, train with weapons (firearms and contact types), practice a martial art that suits you and keep athletic (running, rowing) etc etc. leaders arent going to fall out of the sky - they need to be raised. if you dont have a good leader then there is only one solutions isnt there?
