  1. Waheguru Jee..veera is right..bleaching/dying is prohibited. Plus looking at from a women's opinion 1) Of course women 'back then' had facial hair, but they were strong and graceful & didn't live for society. 2) Practically speaking all bleach does is lighten your facial hair, so basically it would be like having a blonde 'dhari' or blond upper lip hair. Are we pleasing society or Guru jee?? The soul-bride pleases her/his Husband-Lord when she shows beauty from within, when her face glows with the jewels of his naam & devotion... Gur Kirpa...bul chuk maaf jeeio...

  3. Waheguru..that's right jeeio..our punj pyaray do tell us that, and it's also in the Rehitnaamas with many direct/indirect references to this in Guru Granth Sahib Jee! That's why our head is covered during Langar, during keertan, naam japna, our head should always be covered. Veera is right this is why the keski is the best choice. For example my dad wears a dustaar and when he comes home will tie a keski at home--that would be a good choice for you too jeeio. Guru Jee is everywhere, and we must always be humble and graceful. The food that you eat is a gift from Waheguru Jee, how can we not cover our head? nugun hoe baahur firehi nugun sees jo khaae nugun prusaadh jo baa(n)ttee thunukhaahee buddo kehaae ||24|| Those who walk outside, eat or distribute food without their head covered will be punished severely. Thankhaanama Bhai Nand Laal Jee In Gurdev Pita Maharaj's 52 Hukams he says: 35)Dastaar bina nahi rehnaa - Wear a turban at all times. Also in his Hukam at Kabul he says that our kesh are the 'seal of Guru jee'
  4. Just a personal note on the subject of our 'punj pyaray'...I'm so blessed that I get to see them at least once a week at the Gurdwara Sahib, I've bridged quite a relationship with all of them. They have guided me with studies, work, stress, problems at home..whatever they say goes for me, and I can say with confidence it always creates peace and bliss in my soul ..waheguru..
  5. :D I know jee... Thank you veera for your support, and thank you Singh jee for letting the local Gurdwara Sahib know. It just hurts so much, there was NO NEED at all for them to touch this man, even if a robbery. How did cutting this Uncle Jee's hair somehow help their robbery?? They were going to get the money anyway..they did it for their own 'swaad'...waheguru buksh lai... All I know is 'true is the lord, true is HIS JUSTICE', he will help us through this horrific crime... with tears OF STRENGTH, Summeet Kaur
  6. Pyareo, I read this and started crying, my heart and soul are full of dukh right now :'( They cut a pyara Uncle jee's hair and slit his wrists during a robbery at a CVS Pharamcy store in NJ. My dear brothers and sisters please stand by me and let us fight for Justice, raise more awareness, and pray for & support our pyaray Uncle Jee... Those veer/bhaina in New Jersey we're really counting on you for the most help...I will send out emails to various Sikh groups, Vicky Singh jee and everyone else please let's write a small note to send out to all our contacts and organisations [sMART, our local gurdwaras, etc]. ---news story--- Wednesday, July 2, 2003 By AMY KLEIN STAFF WRITER NORTH ARLINGTON - Two armed men cut the power to a Schuyler Avenue drugstore, herded employees to the back of the store, and sliced off one worker's hair before making off with nearly $5,000 Monday night, police said. One of the men waited until the CVS closed at 10 p.m. before approaching two employees as they rounded up shopping carts outside, said Police Capt. Louis Ghione. Meanwhile, another man cut the power lines to the store, he said. Armed with a handgun and a knife, the two robbers led the two workers into t he store. The robbers then cornered a Sikh employee who was wearing a turban, pulled off the turban, and cut off part of the man's long hair while taunting him with slurs, Ghione said. Sikhs are forbidden by their religion to cut their hair, believing it is a gift from God. The man was also slashed on the hand while trying to fend off the attack, Ghione said. As the robbers emptied the day's receipts from the cash registers, an accomplice kept watch outside the store, Ghione said. Employees described him as white, with blond hair and wearing a white T-shirt. The man holding the handgun was described as black and about 5 feet 5 inches. He was wearing a dark sleeveless shirt and loose khaki pants and had cornrows in his hair, the employees told police. The second robber was described as black, about 5 feet 10 inches, and wearing a black mask and a black T-shirt with "I love you" written in red across the front. Employees did not see which way the robbers fled, Ghione said. Anyone with information is asked to call (201) 955-5680. New Jersey Media Group article

  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! This is a poem I wrote last night, expresses how 'naam' is the only support which has brought productivity, peace, bliss, and love into my life :D Har Naam Adhaar (The naam is my support) I have no achievements, merit, intellect, nor progress. Kindness bestowed awakened this once widowed soul. Hope, desire, and support immersed with love lit the way. Soon the miseries of separation seized...instantaneously… Moments, and my widowed soul was wed. I was wed to the everlasting Husband-Lord. My Husband-Lord adorned me with jewels of devotion, grace, and humility. Naam became my support, Guru Maharaj Jee the guide, and my lord’s gifts turned to ever lasting bliss… “On the road, and on the river, these supplies are always with me. I have made my mind the Lord's companion.” Through every instant the support elevates to summits of anand , sat , santokh , and dya . Studying, and working, to serve his kingdom, with his benevolent soul-brides. My forever companion revitalizes my soul, sustains my spirit alive, with a tender touch frees me from duality, and sweetens my inner Harmandir. Forever and ever, praise the Lord, O Saints; how glorious is His greatness! …Har Naam Adhaar… In & With Love, Summeet Kaur

  12. To my Pyarey Vicky Singh Jee here is the definition you asked about: as·cet·ic n. A person who renounces material comforts and leads a life of austere self-discipline, especially as an act of religious devotion. adj. Leading a life of self-discipline and self-denial, especially for spiritual improvement. See Synonyms at severe. Pertaining to or characteristic of an ascetic; self-denying and austere: an ascetic existence. [Late Greek asktikos, from Greek askts, practitioner, hermit, monk, from askein, to work.]
  13. Episode No. 3 ESCHEW RETALIATION Once when Guru Amar Das was in Goindwal, Sikhs used to bring water for the langar in earthen pitchers. Young Turks (alien Muslims from the ruling class) would break the pitchers with mud-pellets shot from catapults. Those Turks were called Sheikhs. Their parents were aware of this activity. But they would not stop them. Rather, they enjoyed the fun. "O True Master, kids of the Turks, with pellets from their slings, break our pitchers,"complained the Sikhs. The Guru instructed them to use mashaks (leather bags) to fetch water. The Sikhs started using mashaks. But the young Turks would make holes in them with arrows. "O True Master, they make holes in the mashaks also," reported the Sikhs. The Guru advised them' to use brass vessels, and the Sikhs obeyed. But this did not deter the young Turks who started pelting brick-bats, causing dents in the vessels. In the mean time, a roving band of armed ascetics (sanyasins) arrived and camped there. The boys shot a ball which hit one of them in the eye, and caused grave injury. The victim happened to be the leader of the group. All the sanyasins came out with arms and attacked the Sheikhs with swords, killing several of them. On the following day, a mule carrying State treasures disap-peared. This mule was recovered from a house belonging to one of the Sheikhs. So the few Sheikhs who had survived the assault of the sanyasins, were taken as prisoners to Delhi. The Sikhs reported this to the Guru, "O True Master, this is the fate the Sheikhs have met." "Brothers, they have received what their actions merited, but we did not retaliate," said the Guru. In the same connection Guru Baba narrated a sakhi: "A sadhu asked his fellow sadhu, 'If you do good to somebody and he returns it with evil, how should he be treated?' 'You should again do good,' was the reply. 'If you again do him good, and he again returns it with evil, then how should we treat him?' 'You should again do him good.' 'Why so?' asked the sadhu. The reply given was 'He will get his reward for evil, while you will get yours for good. If he so firmly slicks to evil, you should stick to good even more firmly. This is the reason.' The fellow agreed." The Guru elaborated and said, "If one commits aggression, and the other does not retaliate, God will punish the aggressor. This is His justice. There may be some delay in its dispensation. But when He catches him, he will not be spared, and will suffer blow after blow. So, the Sheikhs have been punished by God. We have no hand in this." 14. Dear friend I was too late to return your Fatheh ! Fateh is like a favour, A warm applause, A standing ovation, A pat on the back. Fateh is courage, grace, passion, victory And those who live by it, attain it Fateh is a salutation, A declaration, A war-cry, A handshake between comrades, An embrace, A celebration of a meeting, A commandment, An honour. Fateh is like a rose, of love and respect. In the future, Say it loud and proud! Waaheguroo Jee Kaa Khaalsaa !!! Waaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh !!!

  17. 1) Sixth Sense 2) Unbreakable 3) Signs ...lol..I'm a M.Night. Shamalyam fan :D 4) Dead Poets' Society..amazing movie.. 5) Scent of a Women..powerful movie about a blind man 6) As Good as it Gets...Obsessive Complusive Disorder man's funny life I like deep, thoughtful, yet somewhat relaxed movies that reflect on an aspect of life. Sixth Sense is about the things we overlook, Unbreakable is about heroic confidence, Signs is about 'will'. Dead Poets' Society shows different types of people & the way they handle what life throws at them. Scent of a Women is an inner-struggle, the man never allows himself to feel disabled/weak due to his blindness. As Good as it Gets is just a very funny movie :D I haven't watched movies of late..I'm kinda picky..love to hear from everyone else..I also keep in mind that I watch a movie that doesn't affect my ego, or instill some sort of lust, pride, anger, nationalism, fear..etc..waheguru..
