  1. Congrats Amrit, This whole experience has been so incredible and blissful, full of love, when I first heard you saying "You took amrit", I was like WOW, It seemed to me like Waheguru ji was speaking through you, I knew it was gonna happen soon, but i didnt know it was going to happen just on your 4th visit to the Gurudwara. You really deserved this sooner then me, your devotion is true, you are a khalsa of the Guru. Now all you need is a horse! .. and dont you love horses :wub:

    I feel so left out though i couldnt be there to see this blissful samagam. I would love to see the photos.. Maybe i should have gone there, that must be the reason, I got unemployed on that very same weekend, telling me to go!! Someone who I have spent so much time with, that gursikh is going to take amrit... although Im so lucky to have met you. Thank you for everything you done and are always doing. Iam always there for you, I know I'm not perfect but with your help i have always improved.

    please send me the photos, I have seen you glowing at other times too, not to forget your astral form full of bright blinding light, I have never seen that in anyone., Guru ji loves you SOOO MUCH... You are a beautiful soul, one in millions.

    Thanks to all the loving sangat, who got you there, took care of amrit!! :wub: You are the best!!

  2. after everything guru nanak dev ji didi in his life trying to abolish caste why do some sikhs still go around sayin jat for life and the rest of it they dont care about the religion they just go around being proud from the fact that they have a caste

    Why do we have to compare always, comparing gives rise to haumai(ego), it can either lead to an injured or a bloated haumai(ego).

  3. Do you want to be a pro? hmm dont mean to flood you with information.. but

  4. banda singh , you can take your propaganda someother place... I dont want to go in detail trying to argue with you...

    dont choose the name of banda singh,... haha .. you are nothing compared to the greatness of banda singh bahadur, get registered first and choose a proper nick

    As another poster Ambrosia has said somewhere on the forum.. "sikh is learner, the one who battles with maya, the one who tries to remember god, the one who does good actions, who loves all creation, who has thirst for the lord, who is humble, who remembers death, who is pure"

    Guru Nanak Dev Ji, saw hindus facing the east and watering the field to send water to their ancestors, Guru Nanak Dev ji started watering the field in the opposite direction.. and said if you can send water to your ancestors, im sending water to the crops in delhi, if your water can reach your dead ancestors, then ofcourse it will reach my crops in delhi.

    You see Guru ji smashed the hindu traditions, there are so many lessons to be learnt. But if you think if you are not for the sikh faith, then you better convert to hinduism, and stay there, please dont spread any misunderstandings here. And please stop twisting the words of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, Guru Tegh Bahadur ji saved the hindu religion , saved the humans from dying, they didnt do this to save the hindu tradition but to save the lives of millions.

    Anyway, I hope waheguru ji help you understand sikhi.

  5. The Dark Age of Kali Yuga is the vessel, filled with the wine of sex; the mind is the drinker. Anger is the cup, filled with emotional attachment; egotism is the bartender. Drinking too much in the company of falsehood and greed, one is ruined. So let good deeds be your distillery, and let Truth be the molasses you ferment; make the most excellent wine of

    Truth. Make virtue your bread, good conduct the ghee, and modesty the dish of meat. As Gurmukh, these are obtained, O Nanak; consuming them, evil and corruption depart. || 1 ||

    MARDAANAA: The body is the bottle, self-conceit is the wine, and desire is the company of drinking buddies. The glass of the minds longing is filled to overflowing with falsehood; the

    Messenger of Death is the bartender. Drinking in this wine, O Nanak, one takes on countless vices and corruption. So make spiritual wisdom your molasses, and the Praise of God your bread; let the Fear of God be the dish of meat. O Nanak, this is the true food; let the True Name be your only Support. ||

  6. try this, this will capture the enter key on that input field

    Put the following in the head section, the javascript to capture the enter key

    <script language="javascript">
       function Keytest(arg)
       {
     if (arg == 13)
           {
        results.location.replace('URL?q=' + escape(document.getElementById('q').value));
        }
       }
    </script>

    and modify your input code like this

    <input type='text' id='q'  onKeyDown="Keytest(event.keyCode)" />

  7. “Foolish people quarrel over the merit of partaking flesh because they do not have the knowledge and understanding of what constitutes flesh or vegetables (as both come from the living species). Why the eating of flesh is sinful and not the eating of vegetables?  (Does the sin lie in taking the animal life or eating animal flesh?)  (The Universal Spirit is present in all life.)... O, Pundit you don’t know how flesh is produced! Water is the source of life. It is water that produces grains, sugarcane, cotton and all forms of life. AGGS, M, 1, p1289

    What are you referring to AGGS ?

    I dont eat meat... i used to earlier.. but not anymore.

  8. About the Adam and Eve story, its all about the symbolism. Its not a real event, but a story. it has its meanings though... that relate to other things in life...

    Aadmi means man in punjabi, adam in english... interesting link...

    Hmm! a line just came to my mind... relating to this topic of Christianity and Sikhism....

    "But the teachers of the teachers is the One who appears in so many forms" -Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

  9. Does anyone know if any of the guru's actually write or define the rehat maryada? If so who and the source please.

    Thanks

    113061[/snapback]

    Guru Gobind Singh Ji said the Five K's, reading the banis, which i belive is the normal sikh marayada that has been going on.

    But there are others, There are even some like the namdharis, who had considered A saint Bhai Ram Singh Ji as the living guru, instead of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This was against the wishes of Bhai Ram Singh Ji.

    People like namdhairs are blind... Although I dont say the same for others like Damdami Taksal which trains scholars of Gurbani. And AKJ which do the some of the best kirtan around.. They dont sing according to the raags, they face quite an opposition about this.

    If you want to know how a sikh lives ? Then what better source then Guru Granth Sahib ji .. Or the Vaars of Bhai Gurdas Ji.. Who lived during the times of our Gurus and had recieved the title/status of 'Bhai' , (brother) from the Guru.

    You can find the vaars of Bhai Gurdas Ji here

    http://www.searchgurbani.com/main.php?book...ction=vaarindex

  10. thats damdami taksal Rehit maryada... I know it has a lineage, But it was Guru Gobind Singh ji himself who started the sikh rehit maryada, so why difference

    The main thing is read the banis, the five K's, and naam simran.

    there are issues like eating meat, keski being one of the K's(AKJ maryada), combing hair before eating food, raagmala( the last stanzas in Guru Granth Sahib), description of the ragas; if authentic or not...

    Issues like these are a different in rehit maryadas.

  11. Here are some more Kabir quotes

    Flickering, Swinging, struggling no one is left out

    Mind ocean, mind born waves, dont let the tide sweep you away

    The river rushes where can the foot be pianted

    As long as the stars glitter, the sun wont rise

    ============

    Brother, see what comforts man-

    it's an untellable story.

    Lion and tiger are yoked to a plow

    sowing rice in a barren field.

    The wild bear is pulling weeds,

    the billy goat runs the farm.

    The nanny goat married a lion

    while a cow sang wedding songs.

    The dowry was an antelope,

    the bridesmaid was a lizard.

    The crow washed all the laundry

    while the heron gnashed its teeth.

    The fly shaved it head, shouting

    I must join the marriage party.

    Kabir says, can you figure out this poetry?

    If so, I'll call you scholar, genius, devotee.

    ==

    according to some people..

    the lion is the soul, the tiger is the mind. The male goat is the false guru, nanny goat is maya. the male goat takes work out of the animals lion and tiger to plow the fields of karma. They sow many seeds of desires and wishes. They are the teachings of the false Guru, maya. The bear is another false teacher. The crows are interpreted as false teachers , as they are often big black beards, trouble-causing. These dirty, corrupt creatures try to wash other people's laundry. The fly is a deluded being who desires salvation, the false guru says, come ill shave your head and you join the party and get initiated. The lizards are portrayed as senses. The restless soul goes with the many companions sensual , the lizards.

    There are so many interpretations , we can go on forever, Or there might not be any.

    drop falling in the ocean, everyone knows

    ocean absorbed in the drop, a rare one knows

    Kabir in his upside down language is repeatedly trying to tell us that the mind is the problem and it cannot solve the problem, how can we check the counterfiet coin by testing it with another counterfiet coin. This is the problem with the mind.

    The first line of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, after the mool mantra is

    "Sochai Soch na Hovai, Je Sochai Lakh Vaar"

    Thinking cannot accomplish, even if thinking 100,000 times

    I feel every line of Jap Ji has to be understood and contemplated before one can proceed further.... a line a day, repeat the line, observe it.

    Yesterday, I just came on the realization, that this line maybe also means..."We should have no desires"...we think because we want to accomplish, achieve desires, etc

    now the next three lines , we find Guru ji is telling us even by remaining silent, or compiling loads of worldy goods, or clever tricks, nothing is of any avail.. After this when we have total faith in the lines of the Guru... our minds are ready for the hukam .. when Guru ji says

    Hukam Rajai Chalna, Nanak Likhia naal

    Then only the hukam prevails ... the mind is gone as thinking is of no avail..

    Ok back to the topic....

    Kabir is trying to tell us something by constantly introducing impossible images in our minds; for example of an upside down tree, the calf gave brith to the cow.. that we let go of the mind to try to solve the problem of life.

  12. If I do something bad, and I dream good..? it doesn't seem correct.. but I never know.

    I believe Guru ji was just giving an example of trying to explain the sikh of the benefits of reading bani. But it doesnt mean dream is the only medium, its more of an example.. it can be many things.. you feel lighter, your worries are going away, you are finding you get blissful when you read bani etc..

    But dont expect anything..
