  2. We have our own forum for suggestions : http://www.sikhchannel.tv/forum/ PLEASE NOTE : This is no means an alternative for this SikhSangat forum - discussions on the Sikh Channel TV forum is for the TV suggestions etc and not to compete or drive sangat away from any other forums, as they are doing great sewa for the panth already.
  3. Yes, the poster above is right, there are all Singhnia and are all sisters. Please click the link below for recordings of their keertan... http://www.sikhroots.com/zina/Keertani%20-...(Wolverhampton) http://www.sikhroots.com/zina/Keertani%20-...mpton)/dukhsukh
  4. Thank you to everyone who is supporting us and thanks for the suggestions. Regarding the translations and scroll, we will be sorting that issue out soon. we are currently working improving the graphics on the channel...
  5. Thank you for the review and the positive and negative comments. The panel will review the negatives and discuss them. You have to understand, there is one guy who has given us the initial funding - out of his own pocket. He has handed majority of the control over to the youth. The idea being that the elder generations have run gurdwaras and organisations and had their chance to do something big for the panth. His idea was to start this channel, hand it to the youth to see what "we" can do and give us the chance. We need to keep up with Sky costs every single month, and finance new programmes. So therefore, we are allowing people to sponsor shows, submit messages on screen etc whilst total Gurmat programming is playing. We know its not an ideal solution, but it helps to bring in funding which we need to keep the channel alive. Your ideas, suggestions are always welcome and the panel are always reviewing emails we get from the sangat. its early days yet too - we cemebrated our 1 month anniversary a few days ago. It can take up a year to establish a professional and consistent TV channel, especially one which has live events EVERY single day. Theres a lot happening behind the scenes - our news programme is coming very soon where issues, panthic issues, will be addressed. But we have to prove to organisations including Ofcom that the channel is trustworthy and professional - our aim is to inspire and ignite the passion for Sikhi into the hearts of the viewers. Thanks again frontline, and if you have any more comments on it, just let us know - feel free to email us or call in. Forgive our many mistakes ps. frontline, you got the wrong channel logo on your blogspot lol
  6. We never said we dont need sangats' support. Of course we do. However, if someone is not going to watch our channel because we will have non-Amrit dhaaris on there... then thats fine. We cant force anyone to watch the channel. We want people WANTING to watch the channel, NEEDING to watch the channel NOT forced to watch the channel As we said, presenters dont usually offer their views. They are impartial and that is what we will be looking for. Every organisation has an agenda, including SikhSangat - that does not mean the agendas are negative or anti-Gurmat or whatever. We have an agenda... to bring people closer to Sikhi, to help inspire the Sikhi way of life and offer the chance to participate and get involved. By involving people, you will help bring them closer to Guru Maharaj Besides, as we said, the reason why we have posted on Sikhsangat is to get more Gursikhs involved. If you dont get involved and come forward to do seva of presenting etc. then we cant force people. Lets not cause a divide between amrit dhaaris and non-amrit dhaaris. Lets bring them in, as our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers and welcome them - not say "we are better than you, you havent taken amrit, you are not allowed on the channel". We all talk about unity... but none of us are willing to get off their high horses and actually practice the true meaning of it. Forgive our mistakes, we are learning still along with you all. We hope you will help us learn from our mistakes.
  7. If you want to go down that road, thats fine. However, the Singh behind SikhWorld.tv is also non-amrit dhaari... so it seems you have a dilemma Singh#
  8. Not necessarily. Presenters are to talk to Gursikhs about their life experiences... they are their to present. Its their prime role. Presenters dont normally talk about their own life experiences etc. Channel is to focus on non-amrit dhaaris as well as Gursikhs. Gursikhs should already have knowledge and practice Sikhi themselves... you cant bring people into Sikhi who are already into Sikhi. Ive personally met some non-amrit dhaari's in my own life who have had a lot more respect and knowledge about Sikhi than some amrit dhaaris i know and theyve gone on to become great Gursikhs. So lets not cause a fraction between amrit dhaari and non amrit dhaaris and work together to inspire a Sikh way of life.
  9. No, they dont have to be amrit dhaari... the reason why we have posted this on Sikh Sangat is that because everywhere else we have posted this, the majority of the response has been from non amrit dhaaris, who we will audition as well, theres no issues there. Our aim here though, is to get more amrit dhaari presenters and panelists on board who have knowledge of Sikhi to help with shows etc as the response from Gursikhs has been very low.
  10. We are looking for presenters, panelists, audience members and anyone who wishes to participate on the Sikh Channel shows which will begin production in 2 weeks time. On 16th May 2009, (this Saturday) from 1pm, we would like to invite you to get involved. We will be interviewing candidates thoroughly, checking CV's and doing screen tests to find the right people for shows. So if you wish to take part, please drop us a private message or email gurpreet@sikhchannel.tv We desperately require confident amrit dhaari Gursikhs to come forward for pre-recorded shows - this our chance as Gursikhs to help inspire others to follow the path Guru Nanak Dev Jee wishes us to follow.
  11. Vaheguru jee ka Khalsa. Vaheguru jee kee Fateh. We are aware of the issues and Sikh Channel panel decided to give the speaker a chance. We had conditions which he adhered to. If anyone wants more information, they can send us a PM on this forum and we can provide you with more information. His parchaar, his speech was actually quite good and having personally sat there and listened to it all, i learnt a lot from it myself. To summarise a few points, the speaker was willing to say the Guru's fateh (beginning and end) and we vetted his entire speech before he went on - the producers were sitting with their fingers on the cut button ready to cut in case anything wrong was said at all. He even changed his appearance there and then for us. He is on youtube : Part 1 : Part 2 : If anyone can find him doing parchaar which is pro-naamdhari or anti-Sikhi, then please let us know. If not, lets look beyond the looks and take away something positive from the parchaar. There are a lot of friction between organisations and individuals in the panth. Its our policy to give people chances. Yes, there are certain groups which are blatently ex communicated from the panth and as such, we do not allow them on despite them attempting to get on air. Forgive our mistakes and please continue to keep helping us. We do value your input and all suggestions and comments in this thread and others are taken on board. Vaheguru jee ka Khalsa. Vaheguru jee kee Fateh.
  12. Khalistan_Zindabaad jee, we definitely take what you say into account and its been great having your presence in the studio from time to time. The Chaupai Sahib project will be advertised very soon once we have created the trailer for it. We are getting more support everyday so we will be up to full speed quite quick we imagine. The keertan - yes we will definitely feature a wide range of keertani including Bhai Balbir Singh. Please do keep the suggestions coming in because we are going by the feedback we get and the posts that are posted on this forum.
  13. I get that aswell. It just starts jumping as if it has a bad signal. Its quite regular aswell. We will indeed investigate this and try and resolve any issues.
  14. Web streaming coming very soon. At the moment, you cant get it on TV in the Americas, or Australia but if the channel recieves worldwide support then i wouldnt rule out extending it accross the globe. These are still VERY early days.
  15. Fateh ji - it could be a problem with your signal. Best thing to do is contact sky support and get them to check the box and the signal and see what they say. if more people are having the same issue, please let us know and we will look at it deeper from our end.
  16. We have approached several Gurdwaras and have had good response - we will be approaching more Gurdwaras very soon as we get a few more sevadars to help out with the running of the channel.
  17. Sure - i have sent u a PM with contact details for one of the sevadars.
  18. If you have content, we would love to meet up with you at the Sikh Channel studios. If you are not from UK or are living far from the studios, you can send in your videos to : Unit 3 Avenue Road Aston Birmingham B6 4DY Sikh Channel doesnt have a mobile broadcasting system yet but we are working towards it as it costs a LOT of money - but with sangats support, anything is possible.
  19. Thank you again on behalf of the sevadars on the Sikh Channel. The post above is very true and its what we are aiming for. We already have internships opening up for work on the Sikh Channel. By the way, to the Gursikh asking about subtitlng, its one of our top top priorities at the moment and we have sevadars in the background working on this. In addition, we would also like to make clear that EVERYONE regardless of being amrit dhaari or not can help on the channel in some way or form. There is plenty to do so please dont feel this channel is for Amrit dhaaris only. One of our main aims is to bring people into Sikhi who are not already working towards a pure Gursikhi jeevan. So please dont feel left out in any way shape or form if you are not amrit dhaari or dont keep kesh. We have plenty of seva for you to help with and the guys who are working around the clock voluntarily on the channel, are ready to welcome you.
