  1. i dont agree with what you said. for procreation purposes sex does not have to be pleasureable. you would do it simply because you want a child. if we follow the line of your argument then it leads us to say that sex for pleasure is a sin for some reason but it is not because it is pleasureable because other pleasureable acts are not sins. every religion has a tough time with matters relating to sex and sexuality, the reason is simple. sexual urges make us do things which are sometimes wrong or percieved to be wrong by the rest of society therefor religion gets involved as a way to control this. there should be nothing wrong with a married couple making love as they wish. there is no harm in it, the religious leaders only want to control all of this so that people stay in church, temple, mosque, gurdwara.
  2. drama queen? moi? the title of this topic is "gurdwara scandal" yet im the drama queen? i think you have the wrong end of the stick, my point is simple dont try to impose your views on others. let people marry as they wish. better to marry a good hindu/christian/muslim/athiest rather than a bad sikh person. religion is not the most important thing in life for some people and for others it is the most important thing in life.
  3. so what exactly is wrong with sex for pleasure? is any pleasureable act a sin? i enjoy cycling, should i only do this for exercise and not enjoy it?
  4. i did do a search but nothing came up so i started a new topic.
  5. perhaps some scientists believe that but they are not in the majority. the whole point of the word universe is that it covers everything. so all these other "universes" would be part of the one and only universe.
  6. im not lying, i am married, but that does not mean that i am definitely heterosexual or homosexual. if you really wish to know i will tell you
  7. do you really wish me to answer that question? dont you think that a persons sexuality is a private matter for them? i will answer if you really want
  8. very good answer. thanks. can i assume that the sikh religion would have no problems with other beings from other planets? ie. that we may not be the only life created by god?
  9. what if a couple has had 3 or 4 kids before 30 years old, should they refrain from sex forever? surely thats a bit harsh. can i assume from your answer that you believe contraceptives are not allowed? is there anything in the scriptures about this matter?
  10. that is for the gurdwara committee to address. if they are not running things correctly then it should be up to the congregation to vote them out.
  11. or they could just visit somewhere else in the world? i havent been to india since before i was married and that was 7 years ago. regardless of what the priest did or didnt do, he should not have been firebombed. and neither should the girls friends be firebombed. the family discuss these this with the couple and try to find a solution.
  12. yes christians, muslims, buddhists, athiests, blacks, whites. people are free to marry who they wish.
  13. freedom of choice must be allowed. we cannot force people into marrying or not marrying. violence should never be used
  14. so the priest should have been firebombed? perhaps the girl converted to hinduism or perhaps it is allowed for hindu to marry someone who is sikh, in that case the priest may have felt he was doing the right thing. he should not have been firebombed or the girls friend.
  15. and if they dont convert? still nothing you can do. we should not insist on conversion, thats what the muslim rulers of india used to do and guru gobind singhs sons and father died because someone insisted they convert their religion. surely the boy and his friends that committed the crime have put themselves in jail?
  16. well i have posed that question and i have posted it here. if there is anything wrong with it then that is upto the mods to deal with. until then the question is on here and remains unanswered.
  17. im not looking for negative or positive reaction. i dont want to insult or fight. im simply looking for an honest reply to a hypothetical question.
  18. you may think what you like of me but please believe this, i am not posting under any different names. these are my own ideas. this next question is for anyone and everyone. if your son or daughter wanted to marry a hindu/muslim/christian/athiest what would you do? assuming the first method did not change their mind, how far would you go? i never said you mentioned violence. i simply said that we should not use violence to prevent or protest at inter faith marriage
  19. perhaps with our own children and related children and children of friends. not just every child. if you wish you may give talks, write papers or make internet websites to encourage young sikhs to marry sikhs. it is not our place to pressure other people or do protests or burn stuff or do anything violent. also they are free to marry who they wish, not just hindu but anyone. we can only advise and explain we cannot force young people to marry sikhs
  20. what age is the planet earth according to the sikh religion?
  21. if a sikh girl or boy wishes to marry a hindu then that is between those people and their families and friends. why should we be concerned? we should look after our own families and friends and let other people live their lives. we are not the taliban. if you are not happy with the marriage then dont attend the marriage ceremony simple as that. sikh boys and girls are not owned by anyone, they are free to choose their own partner
  22. is it ok for a married man and woman to have sexual relations without procreating every time?
  23. probably cremate them, what else?
  24. what about sexual acts between husband and wife that are not for procreation? is that allowed?
