  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Bibi Bhani was Guroo's Amar Das Jee's youngest daughter and used to attend her father regularly. She used to fan Him, draw water and also work in the kitchen. One day the Guroo was sitting on His couch (chauki) in deep meditation, when Bibi Bhani noticed that one leg of His couch had broken. Fearing that His meditation would be disturbed, she put her arm in place of the broken leg to support the couch. When the Guroo opened His eyes, He found blood coming out of Bibi Bhani's arm. On inquiry Bibi explained that the broken leg might have caused disturbance in His meditation and so she thought herself fortunate to serve the Guroo by substituting her arm for the broken leg of the couch. The Guroo commented, "whosoever does good work, shall reap the reward thereof." He invited her to ask for any favor. She humbly requested that the Gurooship should remain in her family. It is believed that the Guroo told Bibi Bhani that the Gurooship was not a bed of roses, and He warned her of the trouble and torture that the later Guroos would have to go through. Bibi Bhani agreed to embrace all those troubles, and again requested to grant her the wish that the Gurooship would remain in her family. So far the Gurooship was earned by obedience and devotion to the Guroo. Here again Bibi Bhani earned it, for her family, with her devotion and sacrifice. The Guroo granted her the wish and the Gurooship thereafter remained in Bibi Bhani's family. <_< Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Guroo Amar Das' elder daughter, Dani, was married to a pious Sikh named Rama. His younger daughter, Bibi Bhani, was married to Jetha who was also most devoted to serving the Guroo and his Sikhs. A gathering of followers came to the Guroo and said, " Both Rama and Jetha are equally related to you and both perform works with great devotion. Although Rama is older, you seem to favor Jetha. Would you please tell us why?" The Guroo said, "I am looking for the one who serves with greater faith, devotion, humility, and obedience. I am going to make a trial of Jetha and Rama; whoever fulfils my wishes the best will be the worthier of the two." The Guroo sat next to the sacred tank and called the two men. He ordered each of them to make a platform for him to sit on, one for the morning and the other for the evening. He said that whoever did the better work would receive the greater honour. They began working and after a time finished the platforms. Rama bowed to the Guroo and showed him his platform; he thought he had done a very good job. The Guroo looked at the platform and said," It's crooked. Tear it down and build another." Rama said that he had tried very hard to make a beautiful platform to please the Guroo. The Guroo said he was sure this was so; still, he was not satisfied. Rama built a second platform, yet this one also failed to please the Guroo. Rama tore it down, but refused to build a third one. He mumbled, "The Guroo has grown old, he must be senile." The Guroo replied, "Rama does not know how to obey, how can he lead others as the Guroo?" The Guroo then went over to Jetha's platform and, treating him in the same manner, said, "Your platform does not please me; tear it down and build another." At once, Jetha tore the platform down and built it again. When he had finished, the Guroo said he was still dissatisfied and asked him to do it again. Over and over he ordered Jetha to rebuild the platform, so that he had to work all day and all night. Finally, after Jetha had rebuilt the platform for the seventh time, the Guroo looked at him and said, "As this platform pleases me, so do you. As you have obeyed my order seven times, so shall seven generations of yours sit on the Guroo's throne." Turning to his Sikhs, the Guroo said, "I have tested both of my son-in-laws. You have seen why Jetha is my most beloved. He is a perfect being who has come to save mankind." Soon after, the Guroo bestowed the spiritual crown on Jetha. Thereafter, he was called by his given name, Ram Das, and became the fourth Sikh Guroo, Guroo Ram Das. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

  8. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Bhaajee, it is really good to know u have ssoooo much pyaar for Guroo Jee.... don't worry about feelin detached from society, maybe it is necessary in order for u to decide what ur priorities are in life.... in fact it is a sign that u know what is most important: Guroo Jee and earning profit of Naam Bani... not other people and the world of Maya..... However I agree wit ur dad too to some extent... it is vital that we do not just give up on working and our daily lives in terms of education, work and socialising as well.... that is why the Guroos instructed us not to go and live in jungles and go and find God, but to seek to find Him in our families, whilst earning a living (kirat karna) etc.... we should let the world help us to see Him in everyone, to try and understand Him, and how He operates thru everyone ..... We must keep our minds attuned to Him at all times, wherever we are.... at work, amongst family and friends etc.... like Bhagat NamDev Jee, even whilst working he would focus his surtee and dhiaan on Parmatma...whilst washing dirt out of clothes with soap and water, he imagined that he was washing dirt out of his mind with Seva and Prabhoo's Naam.... We must do the same.... earn enough to get by in life and live comfortably, but the rest of the time concentrate on earning the real profit in this world.... Anyhow, i think it is important to get the balance right....the ideal i think is to be successful and sociable etc yet still have Parmatma in your mind at all times.... however the moment this proves difficult to maintain decrease ur workload and socialising time, and concentrate more on the Seva, Simran and Naam.... eyh mwieAw ijqu hir ivsrY mohu aupjY Bwau dUjw lwieAw ] eaeh maaeiaa jith har visarai mohu oupajai bhaao dhoojaa laaeiaa || This is Maya, by which the Lord is forgotten; emotional attachment and love of duality well up. khY nwnku gur prswdI ijnw ilv lwgI iqnI ivcy mwieAw pwieAw ]29] kehai naanak gur parasaadhee jinaa liv laagee thinee vichae maaeiaa paaeiaa ||29|| Says Nanak, by Guru's Grace, those who enshrine love for the Lord find Him, in the midst of Maya. ||29|| I certainly dont think that this feeling of isolation or detachment should prevent u from takin Amrit tho... everyone faces such difficulties even when Amritdhari... difference is that once u have given ur head to Guroo Jee, He will help guide you thru ur problems and help you stay on this path to reach Him.... Hope I have helped somehow...... sorry if I haven't.... Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Buddhu Shah was a resident of Lahore and was a big businessman. His work was to get bricks that had been moulded and baked in kilns by labourers, and then sell them on. His trade was flourishing, so much so that bricks were even being bought from him for government works. Once, when Buddhu Shah had a large order for bricks, he went to Guroo Arjan Dev Jee and asked that Guroo Jee may ensure that all the bricks placed in his newly started kilns would be well baked. Guroo Jee said that in order for this to happen, Buddhu Shah must serve Sangat with langar. So Buddhu Shah did just that, and invited Sangat to his house in order to feed them. Whilst the Sikh devotees were taking their meals, Bhai Lakhu Jee (also called Bhai Kamaliya by the village men) reached the gate of Buddhu Shah’s house. Seeing the torn dress of Bhai Lakhu, Buddhu Shah who was standing at the gate, ordered Bhai Lakhu to go away, saying that he would not be given food, as he was too late. Bhai Lakhu remained standing outside the closed gate. After the Sikh devotees had finished their meals, one Sikh offered a prayer that Buddhu Shah’s bricks may be well baked and earn him lots of money. However, outside Bhai Lakhu could be heard saying, “I am hungry and need some food. Feed me, or else your bricks will remain unbaked.” When Buddhu Shah checked his bricks, they were still unbaked. He was very cross, for he had done as the Guroo had instructed him and had fed the Sangat, yet Guroo Jee had not ensured that his bricks had been baked. He went to visit Guroo Arjan Dev Jee to express his anger. “Are you sure that nobody was left hungry?” asked Guroo Jee. “Everybody was fed until they were full, except one beggar who came too late,” replied Buddhu Shah. “A beggar?” questioned Guroo Arjan Dev Jee. “Yes, someone known by the name of Bhai Kamaliya.” Guroo Arjan Dev Jee replied, “In accordance with the words of Bhai Kamaliya, the bricks of your kiln remained unbaked as you refused to feed a hungry man. However, the prayers of a Sikh devotee can neither go unheeded. Therefore your bricks will fetch the same price as the baked ones despite being unbaked.” Buddhu Shah was very pleased to sell unbaked bricks at the rate of baked ones. From then on, he grasped the truth: God listens to the hungry and naked, and grants the wishes of those who give clothes to the naked, food to the hungry and help to the needy. Would it not be possible to take Maharaj's Saroop to your local Gurdwara?...that way when your family feels they are ready to look after Guru Maharaj Jee with full care and respect they can again bring the Saroop home.... In the mean time, Guroo Maharaj Jee can be treated in the appropriate manner at the Gurdwara....and you can still have Darshan of this Saroop. Ideally however, your mum must realise that actually all Guroo Maharaj Jee's Saroops are the same....same 10 Guroo Jees' Jot in each Saroop....you should explain that she should not get attached to that Saroop alone, just because your Grandma gave it to her.... Also, I'm sure that your Grandma would have wanted your family to treat Maharaj Jee with utmost respect and not do beadbi of Maharaj Jee.... Forgive my mistakes...no offence intended...
