Sadly there is a lot of crime that goes on within the Darbar Sahib complex. People have no fear when carrying out such crime in the presence of Guru Ji. There have been lots of cases of pickpockets stealing in the queue to enter the Harimandir Sahib. Money, cameras etc being stolen form womens bags in the special enclosed womens bathing areas. The SGPC task force know who the thieves are but appear to not want to take any action. It would not take more than 10 minutes to catch some of the criminals using the bait of cameras fitted with simple tracking technology. There are also cases of people flying into Amritsar airport having passports stolen within the complex. It is sad to say but please remain alert when visiting Gurdwara in India. Take it in turns to take a dip in the sarovar whilst others guard clothes and cameras etc. If you have females with you then make sure they take no bags into the womens bathing areas and are not wearing any gold. The usual modus operandi for thieves in the womens bathing areas is to cause a bit of congestion and then do the old bump into someone routine whilst stealing from their bag etc.

I think you got your words a bit mixed up. There are plenty of giddar like Bittu, Sukhi cat, Zaffarwal, Dr Sohan, J. Rode etc etc and plenty on this forum who act as their shills. And what was Bittu doing at the same time Badal Junior was living it up in the USA? His so called firneds may have been getting killed but he managed to arrange a surrender! He associated with police cats, he surrendered when the going got to hot for him, conveniently the surrender was from the same place Dr Sohan surrendered from. Be very careful in India, the youths (including girls) are more westernised than us in the UK. I know of several cases where they have used UK boys to get into the UK, getting their indefinite stay stamp and then divorcing to get their old boyfriend from Punjab over. Punjabi boys also do likewise. They will present you with a picture of being very humble and kind till after meeting the home office requirement they get that indefinite leave stamp. WJKK WJKF Me and my husband stayed there August last year and we had no problems (other than lizards!!!) with the service. We went and asked for the room facing Darbar Sahib it was on the 5th floor and we did not need to show any proof of ID but just had to let him know which country we were from as he has 2 signing in books one for people from India and the other for people out of India. We paid 300 rupees a night for that room or if you want any other room its alot less. The man who owns the Niwas is from Wolverhampon and he was very nice and polite. He also helped take out a lizard from the room and assured us that by next year(2009) they will have dealt with the lizard problem as the Niwas was just newly built with a few teething problems. All in all it was a nice place to stay and we would definately stay again. Thanks panji. I will give it a try without passports (will take some photocopies instead and my international driving permit). Yes the guy from Wolverhampton is same guy who handled the Hazur Sahib NRI Niwas project. He is a very soft spoken guy and very helpful. Is it by where Chattar Singh Jiwan Singh publishers have their shop (sort of back of Akal Takht office) If it is not very clean then I do not think we will be staying here, got some kids accompanying me and would not like them to see how badly organised out niwas are in India. The only time Akali Dal (Badal) make an issue of the 84 genocide is near election times. After elections the 84 victims are conveniently forgotten by Sukhbir and his dad.
