  1. How about Admins set the Sangat a target to collectively do "X" number of Chaupai Sahib Paaths for the Chardikala of the Panth? Something similar to what the UK naujawaan did a couple of years ago to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 1984. This will be a positive, Gursikhi step, which engages the youth in Naam/Bani.

thats a good idea , like we have collectively done in the past , may be 1lakh or 125000 paaths of chaupai /japji sahebor Jaap saheb

or 10 Mn paaath of Mool Mantaror any other baani

  2. all this makes new generation confused and go away!!!!

    who is right?

Not to be confused , as said in my previous post, over the time some local traditions get mingled with the

basic routines of the particular faith, we may accept it or not , but that remains a proven fact

I have seen in many south indian catholic , syrian catholic churches , hindu style arti of Jesus & Mary

in tribal areas Christian preachers very often mix tribal worships into church routine for gaining acceptability

    among tribal people.

Same way dakhni Singh remained isolated from Punjab Singhs till the time trains were common mode of transport

That reflects in the ardas at Hazoor Sahin Where they pray for Darshan of Punjab & Delhi Gurdwaras in same way

as we pray for Darshan of Gurdwaras of Pakistan . So it is only difference in point of view , nor the spirrit, which is the same

  3. guldasta in music is the composition where every stanza is sung in different rag , in different metre or different taal this kind of composition is sung by expert musicians , Late Bhai Avtaar Singh ji dilli wale , Late bhai Bakhshish Singh havesung many excellent compositions in this style. Now , at present time - Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa ,Bhai Amrik Singh Jakhmiand may raagis from jawaddi taksaals are good exponents of this style

  4. What is meant by the bolded words?

With the spread of faith over vast geographical area , local traditions get mixed with the basic religious acts , hence daily routine of Takhat Sri Patna Sahib,Takhat Sri HAzoor sahib are different from the gurdwaras in and around Punjab .( in South you can find semi brahminical Worship of Jesus & Mother Mary in some of the Catholic Churches , in kerala ,karnataka & Goa there is found even Caste based hierarchy in Christians of various sects), Without giving justifications to any thing What I suggest is to be tolerent to the point of view which does not match with ours,)

Only influence of local traditions and lack of communications when these Seats of Devotions were found (300- 350 yrs ago) is the cause of difference .I do not find any devotee any way less devoted than Singhs of Punjab . Of course Many , including myself do not find any justification in anty sewadar choosing celibacy( Brahmcharya ) as in Gurbani this has not been accepted as a virtue to be glorified ) , but that is their and local sangat choice we neither appriciate nor demean the practices which are at variance from those prevalent in other takhats, but at every available occasion do explain our point of view to the sangat

I feel the hidden question of the singh (only Five) putting question mark to the routine od Hazoor sahib is answered

thanks , bhul chuk maaf , Gur Fateh

  5. There was no teeka available during Maharaja sahib's time. Do not forget that the premises were in control of Nihungs and akali Phoola singh

was their leader. he knew Gurmat better than anyone else as he practiced Gurmat and not merely talked it.. He will not allow Gurbani to be twisted by anyone..

I have read that there was a granthi of harmandir sahib who was very poor, Someone approached

Maharaja sahib to give something to this Granthi. Maharaja personally went to see him in disguise. Granthi came to know and refused to meet Ranjit singh.

He went to his home and bolted the door. maharaja begged for him to open the door but he did not budge. Maharaja had to come back without meeting him.

How can such a selfless person ever scheme to alter the meanings of gurbani.

Also singhfauja ji , if you can provide a reference other than singh sabha canada source, it will be appreciated.

Singh sabha canada also propagates that old singh sabha stalwarts Gurmukh singh and Giani ditt singh were against Dasam Granth sahib. They also condemn

BHai Vir singh ji as a Brahminical writer. Such denunciations by them and missionaries arise because of a different philosophical stance towards Gurmat. They consider sikhi

as not a mystic path. We should not buy whatever they say.

Wha singhfauja is refering about is maharaja of faridkot , while GPS<<you are refering about MAharaja Ranjit singh.further do you have any reason to offer

why we should buy to your point of view only?

This has been bugging me for some time, my good friends father passed away same time as a guru ji's gurpurab. Should they do a barsi/program/remeberance program for him on the same day as a gurpurab? I have seen the people do barsi of Sant giani takhur singh on same day as gurpurab, does mean its ok to do so, or is it overshadowing the gurpurab?

if we refer to different sanskars( ceremonies ) in the life of a sikh, thigs become self explanatory, we recite anand sahib and distribute karah prasad at every ceremony,

be it the birth, marriage or passing away of our beloved ones .barsi , remembrence are held to remember the good deeds of the departed and take inspiration , so

theoratically there should not be any problem but so many invitees may not be able to attend the programme , which should be kept in mind and preponing or postponing

    a few days is practical

  7. Mods Note: 3 hours added for the past 3 days for jaswinder veer ji

and a benti to sangat jeo to continue this seva of simran, till we have reached our goal, not to stop because the day has passed. We can never do enough simran

In rememberence to Bhai Kuldeep Singh Ji( great contributor of Gurmat knowledge through this site & my elder brother , who passed away in April)

plz add 50 Hours of simran by the family

waheguru jio ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

Mods Note: added Waheguru ji in the memory of Bhai Kuldeep Singh Ji

  8. The dasam granth banis are full of bir rass - like chandi di vaar and bachittar natak. Are these to be read when preparing for physical battle? or can they be read along with regular gurbani which is entirely naam rass?

For instance reciting the sukhmani and then reading chandi di vaar has a knock on affect - 2 different aspects bhagti and shakti

the question is - is the bani of dasam granth designed for a battle or can it be read day to day spiritually?

Most part of dasam Granth is full of puranic stories which is to be studied and imbibed as reference material for understanding SGGS

  9. Should it really be issue for us ? as we Khalsa have believe in oneness of

    humanity .

Guru nanak Dev ji was from Bedi gotra Khatri

Guru Angad Dev Ji was Trehan Khatri

Guru Amardas Ji was Bhalla Khatri

Guru ramdass ji onwards were Sodhi Khari

Further no one is respectable for the only reason that he hails from the

direct lineage of the Gurus . Ofcourse there are Bedi babes having their HQ at Una

about 30kms from Anandpur Sahib on Nangal Kangra Highway , they are direct descendants of

Baba Sahib Singh ji bedi( lieage runs from Lakhmi Chand, the Younger Son of guru Nanak Dev Ji

The Sons of Guru Angad dev ji were anti Gurmat always there is no account found of their lineage

Well known personality of the lineage of Guru Amar Dass ji are Baba Binod Singh ,

a companion of guru Gobind Singh jee and Baba Banda Singh jee , later aigned with tatt Khalsa

In early 20th century we had Bawa Harkihan Singh ji and all descendents of the 3rd guru use Bawa

surname and live around Goindwal Sahib(of course all persons with Bawa Surname are not from

    that clan

Sodhi descendents of 4th 6th & 7th gurus are mainly settled around Jandiala Guru , Amritsar

Anandpur Sahib(wher they were calles Sahibjades & Badi Sarkar)

  10. Can some of the Sikh organisations help our fellow Sikhs. I see Santa and Babas the SGPC doing earthquake relief around India, but nobody has helped the Sikhs that suffered the most. Can we get somebody to help, If our own won't do anything maybe we could try a western charity?

I am sure no sant or baba or the SGPC will do it , they have done only lip service , not even that with heart

till now only sangat has done .Many a fund raisers have looted the donors and the beneficiaries as well

So I suggest , at individual level , let one or two families jointly take up to sponsor individual cases for

rehabilitation, reemployment and justice delivery. It would ensure the beneficiary gets the real help

We can publicly announce the such adoptions through saperate site or blog

have you studied Guru granth sahib sateek by any learned sikh completely yet?

verses by the naths and jogies who abandoned the toughs and challanges of real life were condemned by

guru sahib ji , how come you want to put teachings of the same naths down the throats of Singhs

  12. do we know how many sects and subsects Do Christians , Muslims or buddists have ?

even jainis( a very smaall faith numberwise ) have not less than 50 subsects .

many amongst themselves ( within their faith) do not see eye to eye)

but nothing stops them from being muslims , jaini or christian . then why bother anyone

if he is convinced his belief is the correct one ? lets us follow the right path shown to us

    by the great gurus

    thanks WJKK WJKF

  13. no addition for 3 days by any member? wonder

Mods Note: I am adding 2 hours to the total, one hour for yesterday and one for today.

I know it is very disheartenning that more members aren't contributing to the seva, I just hope maybe like the Mool Mantar Thread, at the end people are going to post all the seva they have been doing all at once.
