  1. some old yogis are shown as blue b/c they used to eat snakes. the poison changed thier colour. can't comment on Baba Sri Chand ji's saroop though.

Udasin sampradaye followers believe that he is incarnation of Shiva ( and Gorakhnath) .Being Shiva incarnate they show him blue coloured , wearing bhabhoot wearing mundras in his ears( it is said that he was born with mundra in his ears)

  2. Hello . Can a monnah sikh ( clean shaven ) be a singh if he chooses to wear only 4 kakkars [kangha , kada , kirpan ,kachhera] but does not keep kes and wear turban . he can keep kanga tied to kirpan .

can you imagine a monnah person he wears kirpan , kada , kachhera and kanga but keeps no kes or turban . thanks a lot

A sikh is a person , in simplest words and as explained to this humble servant by great scholars who leads his\her life the way God wants his loved ones to .The very first submission to his will is - to live with and keep the body as given to us by Him , that is the reason why our great Gurus ordained us to keep hair (of head ,face and other body hair ) as we got from naTURE, UNSHORN

I feel this is sufficient in nutshell

  4. Hey all

Been a long time, i`m just wandering what is required of one to become a sikh?

Like is there anything in peticular i`d have to do or do i just know i`m a sikh and that`s it?

Also do you have to change your name? as i was reading a pm someone sent me ages ago,and i said something about having to change my name?

    cheers

    C

in nutshell, a sikh believes in one supreme power the God , does not believe in incarnation theory, and tryto reach the ultimate aim of life through the teachings of the Masters , present before us in the form of the Book , ADISri Guru Granth Sahib .he is expected to lead simple life living off honest earnings, serving the needy , respecting the divergent views regarding faith ,but firm in his own faith

full version of the sikh view of life can be found at the site sgpc.net under the head - sikh rehat maryada

    thanks

  5. I was Referring to Raja Bikramajit who started the Samat. He was a Raj yogi and Brahmgyani. He was from Suryavanshi Clan. He had recieved Gyan from Surya Devtaa. I know few of the Sakhis related to him. But i was looking for Detailed Info about Bikramajit Raja

the name of the king is Vikramaditya , we can have some of his stories in Bhavishya puran . based on his mention in this book is the popular book called Singhasan battisi (a collection of 32 stories told to raja bhoj by the 32 fairies guarding the throne ofvikramaditya , when the the throne was found by the Bhoj and he tried to sit on it , every time he would try to sit, a fairy . everytime a different one told a story of wisdom of Vikramaditya and ask Bhoj to sit in throne if he can match the wisdom and justice of Vikramaditya

  6. Sewa at gurdwara prepares us to actual sewa, the sewa of humanity, and the all

the living world, as examplified by the likes of Bhai KANAHAIA JI , further examples

set by our great gurus themselves by digging bowlies(deep wells) sarowars where

required , curing and caring for the sick ( by 7th & 8thguru sahiban)and ultimate of it

by the 9th Guru sahbs giving his life in the safeguard of Human rights

  7. When you say samat, what exactly you mean?

There is a samat calendar also and that was started by militant tribe of Punjab.

samat or samvat\samvatsar is sanskrit word meaning year , in common parlance

refered as vedic calander, there are two systems prevalent , one is lunar calander

where one revolution of moon arounr earth is taken as one month , callaed

Saka samvat (named after Sakas , the warrior clan) the other is solar calender

where one revolution of our earth around sun is taken as one year, further

divider in 12 months and this is called as Biktami Samvat , named after Bikramaditya

the king of Ujjain who is under reference here

further study of the subject is suggested to update yourself in the subject

    SSAji,

By any chance anyone of you have detailed info. about Bikramajit. He was a Raj Yogi and Brahmagyani who started Samat. I know few of the Sakhis related to him. But i'm looking for Detailed Info. about him. Please share if anyone of you have it.

    Thanks and Regards,

we have his stories in puranic literature, i have read some in Bhavishya puran , if you can get it

  8. Sehajdhari is someone who keeps hair intact and performs all of the Sikh ceremonies and believes only in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He slowly adopts Khalsa lifestyle. Those who have cut their hair are not classified as sehajdharis since cutting hair is a bajjar kurehat. Whether a Sikh or not, he who cuts hair is a bajjar kurehatee and will be punished accordingly. Non-Sikhs, monay, patit etc have no exceptions. Gurmat principles are universal and apply to everyone.

ther word Sehaj dhari is most misquoted in our times , take any reference, it means a person, gradually embracing external and spiritualtenets of sikhi, In our time - parents are strictfollowers of Sikhi, the sons and daughters are Rodey Bhodey and calling themselves sehajdhari while in practice they are going away from Sikhi , shedding the tenets one by one

are they sehajdhari or what ? is easy to judge

  9. is it true that the lala pair bindi started in 1960-70 by patiaala uni??

and the other pair bindis which are aira and haha and tata was started in the 1930s by bhai kaahn singh nabha - the dude who done the mahaan kosh?

all im reely askin bout is the dates reely...

    thanks...

I do not know who started it in punjabi, but for sure lala pair bindi is not punjabi syllable, of other languages owing origin to sanskritit is found in marathi (spoken in maharashtra ) and drawidian ( southern indian languages. In hindi, only some kaidas ( primers) have itin written hindi it is seldom used, in punjabi we find it in latter day paintee , ( thirty five word primer) only , almost never came across in real print . Putting bindibelow a letter in punjabi ascribes stressed voice to the letter , as described by the linguist. For other pairi bindi letters, as said above ,these are stressed syllables, normally used in persial script(used to write urdu) and Bhai Kahan Singh NABHA has written in his treatise clearly, that he has used these forms to explain words having origin in other langage, and punjabi as written in gurmukhi script does not require these letters .

  10. Simple , God created us the way he liked us to be, so we

should keep the same as token of love , thanks and show

of gratitude to Him, it is like living in his razaa ( wish)

as it is said in Japji Sahib -

Kiv sachiara hoiye, kiv korey tutey paal

(how to become truthful and how can we break the wall of fallacy

between us and the God Almighty )

Hukam Razai chalna , Nanak likhia naal

( we can do so , O Nanak , by following His hukam (THE EXPRESSED

COMMANDMENTS )and the razaa(the implied wishes) of the Almighty

And he created us the way he wanted us to be , hence we should

    remain that way
