- The sikh rehit Maryada published by the SGPC states as under (this is supposed to be followed universally , irrespective of sects (sampradays ) by all Singhs
- about the banis to be recited during amrit sanchar Sec6Chap12 ARTicle 24
- para j states that
j. The scriptural composition to be recited are : The Japuji, The Jaap, The Ten Sawayyas
(commencing with Sarawag Sud), The Bainti Chaupai (From "hamri karo hath dai rachha"
to "dusht dokh te leho te bachai"), Anand Sahib.
Further about the nitnem Chapter3 Article 4 states that
1. A Sikh should wake up in the ambrosial hours (three hours before the dawn), take bath and, concentrating his/her thoughts on One Immortal Being, repeat the name Waheguru (Wondrous Destroyer of darkness).
2. He/she should recite the following scriptural compositions every day :
a. The Japu, the Jaapu and the Ten Sawayyas (Quartets) - beginning "Sarwag sudh"-- in the morning.
b. Sodar Rehras comprising the following compositions:-
i) nine hymns of the Guru Granth Sahib, occuring in the holy book after the Japuji Sahib, (The Phrase in Italic has been interpolated by the translator to help locate the hymns more conveniently.) the first of which begins with "Sodar" and the last of which ends with "saran pare ki rakho sarma",
ii) The Benti Chaupai of the tenth Guru (beginning "hamri karo hath dai rachha" and ending with "dusht dokh te leho bachai",
iii) the Sawayya beginning with the words "pae gahe jab te tumre",
iv) the Dohira beginning with the words "sagal duar kau chhad kai".
v) the first five and the last pauris (stanzas) of Anand Sahib (The object of reciting the Anand as part of Sodar Rehras or at the conclusion of the congregational gathering is just to express joy and gratitude for the communion with the Guru ) and.
vi) the Mundawani and the slok Mahla 5 beginning "tera kita jato nahi"- in the evening after sunset.
© The Sohila - to be recited at night before going to bed. The morning and evening recitations should be concluded with the Ardas (formal supplication litany).
3 (a)The text (This is a model of the Ardas. It may be adapted to different occasions and for different purposes. However, the initial composition with "Pritham Bhagauti......" and the concluding phrases commencing "Nanak Nam" must not be altered.) of the Ardas : (LIT. Supplication or prayer. in reality, It is a litany comprehending very briefly the whole gamut of Sikh History and enumerating all that Sikhism holds sacred. Portions of it are invocations and prayer for the grant of strength and virtue. It concludes with : O Nanak, may the Nam (Holy) be ever in ascendance : in Thy will, may the good of all prevail !
This nitnem is the minimum prescribed, ( fixed considering the routine life of a commoner, as we being Sikh are , l
supposed to earn our livelihood ourselves and 30-40minutes can be spared by even the busiest person , if time permits
we can recite more baani(in order to understand and adopt our way of life accordingly.

Which is for the blessed few , but for the rest of us .................. it's going to be shittar in Narak
no it warns us to mend ourselves

the same thing has happened in Rochester about a month ago , when some singhs said it
is only personal feud between rival groups , when we give control of guru ghars in the hands
og ppl who are least concerned about GURMAT , same things have happened and will happen
in future, just imagine if the Panj PYARE (on baisakhi in 1699 ) WERE CHOSEN BY ELECTION
WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED
please do not get agitated by reading these words , the words are coming from a heart
who has been seeing this happen many many times , and read many times ?
please give it a thought , why ppl spend a fortune in Gurdwara elections , SGPC elections ?
the answer you will find yoyrselves

Gurbani teaches us to rise above the concept of SWARg and narak
"surag baas nahi banchiye dariye na nark niwas" that is what
gurbani says . simran leads us to be in unison with the creator,
a state far above the conventional the concept of SWARg and narak

SHOULD WE EXPECT THAT SOME GOOD WOULD COME OUT
FROM THE LIKES OF BADALS & sarnas ? who all along the
years have been playing in the hands of National parties to
further their personal interests ? God please save us from
these two and likes!!

to bring those ignorant brethren back to fold , and expand with like minded ppl
we need to meet & interact with them , so we cannot segregate ourselves
in cocoon , just tell them need to keep hygine & purity in kitchen .Or we can
forget that those , whom we call patits were sometime part of our community
I have seen ppl running away from sikhi , just by seeing lifestyle of the so called
Bibekis .Some time I feel the goodwork done by the moderate pracharaks going
to drains
Plz . no hard feelings , ppl like me have been working really hard to bring the
lost tribes (of our faith ) back into mainstream and the comments are ground
realities
sorry if some brother feels offended

Lets be realistic on some points :-
1 If boy and the girl have compatible ideas and views about the life style
the marriage is advisable
2 Being Amritdhari , we are supposed to ge marriage solemnised before the
SGGS in the presence of Sangat
3 In indian culture marriage is start of relations between the families
not just bride and the groom
4 We always say that ours is Universal Religion , hence when ppl from different
cultures embrace our faith, they are supposed to bring traces of their parent culture
5 in any faith , for devout follower the married life is kick started by invoking
blessing from the God , in our faith it is Anand karaj
6 Love in itself is not bad , but lust practised in name of love is which we should
refrain from
in light of the above points we should decide our course of action when we
meet or come across a person we think can be our compatible life partner ,
In nutshell , an amritdhari is supposed to start married life by invoking blessings of SGGS
THROUGH Anand Karaj , rest of the thing are of minor importance , if we have
met the life partner before the marriage (what i think the query is about) ther is nothing
bad , till we have the same view about spending life in the light of Gurmat

Bro , in simple words , without any philosophical jargon, i would state
does our creation is not an extension of ourselves ?
when we discuss art we ask have you seen Picasso , have you seen Rodin?
or in literature , we ask - have you read Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Dante,
Tagore etc? same way what has been created by the God is an extension
of Him , We every daty recite - Balihari KUDRAT WASSIA(i bow to thee
living in your creation) , yes he is without form , at least he is beyond our
intellect can imagine .
Does this answer your question ? i have tried to simplify the statement

now a days many communities have been running microfinance service
for underprivilaged brethern . We have so many in our own community
who donot get any assistance from the relg institutions , as we all know
indulge more in promoting themselves(leaders) cring little for the community
In our community we have many underprivilaged sections like sikligars
banjaras , sikhs of assam and maharashtra ets , living in penury.
by arranging for them necessary implements \ imparting training which
costs us little ( viewing our income levels ) WE CAN HELP THEM IMPROVE
theirlives , which i feel would be the real sewa .
IF
we have will our little contributions regularly can make big difference
in the life of the poor brethern. If my brothers living in or out india
can start such initiative ( in group of 15- 20 contributors ) , I
being banker of 30 yrs experience , havin worked in rural area
lending through NGOs can join you by collecting profiles of
deserving prospects .
if interested plz contact thru PM

Do we not have even a few singhs who believe in this kind of nishkam
sewa without publicity , witha lot of satisfaction ?
If some one requires we can guarantee handsome returns on investments
too , because we want the beneficiaries to share their returns with the
benefactors and the peoples like them in future
till now there has been only one response , should we assume Singhs in this era
do not spare daswandh , or do not believe in the Guru's saying that the needy person's
mouth is the pocket is Guru ?
Am i being harsh , sorry for that , but I am just trying to be link between haves & havenots
