  2. A British Politician spoke at the Sikh Federation UK Conference today and he clearly said "you Sikhs need to make as much noise as you possibly can" he said "keep on making the noise". He was saying that was the only way things were going to change and get done!

This member of parliament knows better than the man on Sangat tv who said that you need to be sophisticated and take the politicians to the secret rooms of gentleman clubs and wine and dine them. If that's sophisticated I rather be honest!

Lets keep making noise. Like the honest politician said at the Sikh Federation UK conference, lets all attend on the 25th September 2011!!!

  3. I think everyone firstly needs to become a good human being and have compassion for humanity regardless of race, religion, sex, creed etc. THEN and only then can someone even try to become a good Sikh or whatever religion they belong too.

You're right, we need to have compassion for humanity regardless of race, religion, sex creed etc. But how come when we talk about the race of people called Sikhs being killed, the people who follow their own Sikh religion being killed, the women and girls of the female gender who were gang rapped in public, and all this happened to thousands and thosands men, women and children, how come then we are told we are bad for having compassion for humanity? Why is it we have to be silent about that compassion? Especially as the people who rapped, burnt, bombed, shot those people are all walking around FREE! But, on the other hand, the indian jails are filled with Sikhs in jails. What about that imbalance!

Do you know how often we feel pain when we realise that so many Sikh Girls and boys, women and men can be murdered rapped without any justice for the murderers and rapist

You tell me how to get rid of that pain, and how to forget all those innocent Sikh Children, women and men, and I will talk to you a sweet as you want me too!

You tell me how to forget and I will never mention it again!

You say we treat the British differently. However, how many of their own citizens have they shot, bombed and raped and burnt in the last 30 years? None what so ever?

  4. Let me also emphasize that this is a Sikh forum. As long as the messages posted are in accordance with Gurmat and/or Gurbani, and since Gurbani is the topmost authority for us, we are least bothered as to how offended someone would feel as a result of our Gurmat views. It is never our intention to hurt a single soul, it is in fact a sin to do so. However, if the truth in Gurbani shatters someone's false pride, we are not at all concerned about that. We will continue to speak the truth, come what may.

While we do respect other faiths, don't think that by posting quotes from your religious scriptures you can justify anything to us, because as stated above, as far as Sikhs are concerned, Gurbani is the final word. Posting quotes from non-Sikh scriptures just to disprove what is said in Gurbani will get you nothing but a permanent ban from this website. So far I don't see it done directly, and I hope we don't need to ban anyone because of that reason.

    - Mehtab Singh

Singh Ji, would you mind if I always use the above when I think a Post is Anti Gurmat? You have phrased it in such a clear manner!

  5. What the GOI does we all know. But why are we so weak that we cannot just say a simple no to alcohol? During the puraatan times the same circumstances were there too, but back then Sikhs were morally strong and that strength came from Rehet and Naam/Gurbani. Now Sikhs are morally weak and I don't think it is just a coincident that we also happen to be ignoring rehet/Amrit plus Gurbani and Nam Simran.

Sikh Panth can only grow stronger as we get stronger in our rehet and read more Bani and do more Simran. Once we are strong on that front no amount of alcohol or women will be able to break our resolve. We will be as strong as puraatan Singhs.

Singh Ji, I can't deny a single word you say - pure Gurmat!

  6. Johnny you are right! It is down to each Sikh stop drinking, or even better still never start and prevent their children from Starting too. However, there is absolutely no getting away from the fact that the Central Government of India, are promoting alcohol and drugs in the Punjab. That fact cannot be denied!!

  7. Ajj kal deh Nihangs aint Sikh - true SIKHS are Singhs like Satwant Singh Beant Singh Jinda Sukha Dilavar Singh - these nihangs are just Hindus in my view

Southall Youth, you have picked the best of the best in your pick of Sikhs. However, I think it's unfair to compare the Sikh Nihangs to Hindus who dresses like Sikhs, like the Hindu Niddar dresses like a Sikh. Come on, that's not fair on the Sikh Nihangs.

It's probably like the opening poster, Astral says, there were probably some cults set up here and there where some chaps tried to set up their own Hindu/Durga religion but thought would it would be nice to bring the Sikh Uniform into their Hindu religious sect, that's all Niddar has done. Many people dress differently to the religion they believe in, like Niddar. Niddar is a Hindu who choses to dress like a Sikh, it's a free country!

If a window cleaner wore a Doctors Uniform, you wouldn't recognise him as a Doctor would you? To be honest I feel a bit sorry for Niddar. I just wish he wouldn't dress like a Sikh while living the life of a Hindu. It's unfair on Sikhs and Hindus! I'm sure it's not just the SIkhs that are hurt by Niddar's disrepect for the Sikh Bana, I think some Hindus must find his approach disturbing too .

  8. If there were ever some Sikhs who were following the Guru's Path, it the Sikhs of SOPW.

We have supported you in the past, and will support you in the future. I've watched some of the SOPW representatives on TV and remember thinking 'why can't we all be more like them and just get on with it?"

SOPW are an inspiration to us all. May Vaheguru Ji bless all at SOPW, and all the Sangat that supports them!

SOPW, you will be in my Ardaas to Guru Ji.

  9. I think it's shows great maturity when someone takes the time to find out in advance.

All new comers need to do is, as you say

    • Take your shoes and socks off
    • Wash your hands
    • Cover your head
    • Bow down in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaaj (you'll see every one doing this so just follow)
    • After that you just sit down, in silence, and simply listen.

Even some Sikhs who have been to the Gurdwara hundreds of times can't manage to sit in silence whilst in the Darbar of Guru Maharaaj, so if you managed to sit in silence whilst in the Darbar (main hall where Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is present) then you have already surpassed some of those forgetful Sikhs who keep on talking in Guru Ji's Darbar!

  10. I watched that and thought what cheap and foolish idiots.

Another example why Sikhs can't progress together by working together. I recorded it and will try to upload onto youtube to share with everyone.

Really hope Sikh Channel retaliate to teach those nindthak's a lesson!

    PrabhKaSimran,

Is there any chance you could upload the two programmes onto youtube. That would be a great seva for those of us who missed out. I'm really interested to find out what arguements were put forward.

    Many Thanks

  11. Guys and girls, please remember what our Guru ji's were like. They were the kind of individuals who would not hesitate to wipe the feet of holy saints with their beard or to do seva of sangat who was visiting from kabul or other places.

Whist we must maintain satkaar of Guru Granth sahib je, we must also remember the satkaar of Sangat because Guru and Sangat are the same.

if a disabled person came to see guru ji and could not sit on the floor then do you think Guru ji will mind that person sitting at the same level as Guru ji?

I think, benches, lowered floor are all good compromises as long as Guru ji's palki is still higher.

This is a briiliant point. Guru Ji is the Guru for all wanting to connect with God! People with a physical disability have the same mind as people without a physical disability. Anyone with respect for Guru Ji comes to the Gurdwara to be at the Guru's feet and get Guru Ji's blessings and protection. Making sure Guru Ji's Palki, in all Gurdware, is high enough, is a great suggestion!

  12. and now i have become gursikh , having beard and hair and do nitnem daily

i want to know that KI HUN MAI AMRIT CHAKK SAKDA HAAN ??

If you do nitnem daily, and will continue to do it, and don't do any Kuretha, then I can't think of reason why you could not take Amrit.

The Panj Piyare will tell you if you are ready. The Forgiveness in Sikhi means it's your present and future that count now!

Nice to hear that Sikhi has transformed yet another person into a disciplined human being!

  13. I remember teaching myself that style from a similar youtube video. I was in the same position as you. I actually went to a turban tying class on one occasion at my local gurdwara, unfortunately both of the sevadaars couldnt speak english and my punjabi skills are very limited. They ended up saying that the current style i was tying is fine and "modern" . they were going to teach the traditional triangle punjabi dastaar. The best solution is to ask local gursikhs you know for help with tying round/dummallaa. i certainly agree that all gurdwaras should have the 5ks available and dastaar material. Not having these things is just an extra hurdle monas from non amritdhari families have to cross to become practising gursikhs.

    Thanks for the Tip Singh.

I know from personal experience that your statement is 100% correct. If Gurdwares were serious about helping Sikhs into Gursikhi, then they would definately sell all 5k's, Dastaar Material, and give Dastaar tying classes!
