  1. Why would Guru Gobind Singh Ji fake his death ? This is a very interesting question, why would Guru Gobind Singh Ji fake his death ? The reason given by some sects on the fringes of Sikhism is that the Moghals were pursuing him, that the emperor Bahadur Shah was hatching a plot to attack Guru Ji, and I quote “prompted by intuition the Guru was able to foresee the Emperor’s evil design and realising what was afoot he slipped away from Nanded during the night.” To appreciate how absurd this claim is one must take a quick look at the character and life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In the dangerous and volatile times of 1675 when Emperor Aurangzeb was persecuting Hindus, Gobind Rai at the tender age of nine unflinchingly took on the mantle of the Guruship after his father Guru Tegh Bhadur Ji sacrificed his life for the sake of Dharam. In such troubled times this fearless nine year old consoled the Sikhs and gave them leadership and direction. There were some – like there are today – who could not recognise the divine spirit in Guru Sahib Ji and only saw a nine year old child. To dispel this from their minds and to reveal his mission to all one day Guru Ji dressed in the finest saffron robes, put on a full set of weaponry and the full regalia of a King, and after the morning prayers had finished stepped up from his takhat and uttered the following words; Now I relate my own story How God sent me into this world while I was absorbed in meditation On the site of Hemkunt mountain where the seven peaks shine in glory That spot which is known as Sapat Saring where Pandav Kings practised yoga There I put in much spiritual effort I prayed to God, Mahakaal Thus I continued my meditations and became merged in the Divine Being My father and mother also worshipped the Indescribable One And carried out in various ways several spiritual practices For they served God with great conviction, He the Supreme Guru was much pleased When God gave me his command I was born in the age of Kalyuga My mind was not happy in coming to this world for it was attached to the feet of the Lord God explained to me His purpose and sent me to this world with His directive I have come into this world for this purpose The Supreme Guru has sent me for the protection of righteousness ‘You should propagate righteousness everywhere, seize and destroy the sinful and wicked’ I have taken birth for this purpose Let the holy men understand this in their minds I have come for spreading Divine religion and for protection of the saints And for annihilating uprooting all the tyrants. Chaupai, Bachittar Natak. The mission of Guru Sahib Ji is spelled out in no uncertain terms, ‘to root out tyrants and destroy the wicked’, not the words of someone who would ‘slip away’. In October 1686 Raja Bhim Chand and Raja Fateh Shah together with the twenty two hill chieftains rode towards Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s camp at Paonta Sahib with an army of over 30,000 men. Guru Sahib Ji, who incidentaly was 20 years old, gathered his men , who numbered around 4,000 and together with Pir Buddhu Shah and his four sons and 500 followers met the enemy forces at a place called Bhangani, six miles outside Poanta Sahib. The battle was fierce as it was bloody, although heavily outnumbered with lesser trained men Guru Sahib ji routed the enemy and won complete victory. Is this the deeds of someone who would ‘slip away’ because the Emperor may have been making plans to attack him ? In 1690 the battle of Nadaun took place, this time the Moghul forces were attacking the hill chieftains, in desperation they asked for Guru Ji’s help. Magnanimous Guru Gobind Singh Ji put aside the fact that these same Raja’s had attacked him and his Sikhs not so long ago fought along side them and defeated the forces led by Alaf Khan. The battles of Loh Garh, Nirmohi and of Anandpur also took place with Guru Sahib Ji leading his forces into battle against the combined forces of the Moghals and the treacherous hill chieftain Raja Bhim chand. The battle of Chamkaur is seared in the heart of every true Sikh. At Chamkaur in December 1704 Guru Gobind Singh Ji with a small band of just 40 Sikhs took on an enemy numbering in its thousands. From within the confines of a small fortress havali Guru ji could see the besieging army. Firstly Guru Ji’s eldest son , S.Ajit Singh Ji then next in line S. Jujhar Singh Ji asked permission to go clash swords with the enemy. From the fortress Guru Ji saw his sons achieve martyrdom in the most heroic fashion. Even when Panj Piaray (five Sikhs representing the Guru ) asked him that he must leave the fortress as he was much needed by his Sikhs. Guru Ji could not refuse this demand from the Panj Piaray, but such was the courage and fearlessness of Guru Sahib Ji that when he emerged from the fort in the early morning and faced the thousands of enemy he clapped his hands three times very loudly and shouted out aloud “ Here goes the Fakir of the Hindus, who so dares can test his mettle against me now” with this he rode off fighting his way through the hordes. This does not look like the actions of a person who, in 1708, would ‘slip away’ and leave his Sikhs in such a confused manner. After the above incident Guru Ji’s mother, Mata Gujri Ji was shaheed (martyred), Guru ji’s father Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji had sacrificed his life for the sake of Hindu dharam, Guru Ji’s two eldest sons had achieved shadeedi in the battle of Chamkaur and Guru ji’s two youngest sons had achieved shaheedi at Sirhand at the hands of the Moghuls. Was Guru Ji depressed ? Not at all, Guru Ji accepted everything as the Will of the Almighty. When reaching Damdama Sahib an d asked by his wife Mata Sundri Ji why she could not see her sons, Guru Ji replied “ I have sacrificed the four sons for the sake of all these Sikhs who are like my sons. What if four have been lost when thousands of them are alive.” Again this shows just how close Guru Gobind Singh Ji regarded his Khalsa to him, would he deceive them at the end ? Now, let us examine the compositions of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. After the battle of Chamkaur, a time when there was so much turmoil, when Guru Ji had lost so many Sikhs and many members of his family he wrote a letter to the Emperor Aurangzeb. This letter is famously known as the Zafarnama – Epistle of Victory. (note : full contents are reproduced elsewhere on this site). In it Guru Ji admonishes the emperor for his misdeeds and evil ways. The letter stresses the centrality of truth in statecraft, and underscored the importance of rulers abiding by the same moral principles they expected of the ruled. Guru ji’s communication to the emperor was a reaffirmation of his own commitment to the democratic ideal of openness and accountability. This letter is written by someone who is fearless and in defiant mood against such heavy odds. Why would someone who has taken on the might of the Moghul empire then decide to fake his death when he gets news that Emperor Bhadur Shah, who incidentally was not as powerful an Emperor as Aurangzeb, was planning on attacking him ? In he Dasam Granth (Compositions by the Tenth Master) Guru Ji writes; The Khalsa is a reflection of my form The Khalsa is my body and soul The Khalsa is my very life. For the many battles won, I am indebted to the Khalsa Sikhs owe their spirit and compassion to the Khalsa The inspiration for my learning came from the Khalsa Our enemies were vanquished by the steadfastness of the Khalsa Unlike countless others, we are adorned by the Khalsa. Savayia It is a great pleasure to serve them (Khalsa) for I do not regard the service of others as delightful to me It is beneficial to give them gifts, for granting favours to others does not appear good to me. Whatever is bestowed upon them will bear fruit in the future and bring honour to this world, to give something to others seems to be of little avail. I dedicate (and bequeath) whatever is in my home, my body, my mind, my wealth and all my belongings to them. Excerpts from the Sarbh Loh (All steel) Granth; He who has gained spiritual bliss is the real Khalsa, there is no difference between God, me and him. Khalsa is my form and shape, In Khalsa I reside. Khalsa is Gods own legion, it is created by His own sweet Will. Hardly the words of a Guru who would deceive his Khalsa and ‘slip away’ faking his death. Guru ji installed the guru ship with Sri guru granth sahib ji. he ordered that the panj pairyea would be his physical body and then left for suchkhand.
  2. the attack took place last year in september 2004. if u go to sikhchat.com under news forum u cam also see a picture of the singh with his injuries. i personally know the singh. he didnt fight back becuase he thought his newphew would have got hurt. but personally i think he should have used his kirpan to protect himself and his newphew.
  3. Guru - The Divine Light GU- means darkness and RU- means Light. In Sikhism the word ‘Guru’ is, thus, defined as the Light that dispels all darkness, and that is called JOT (Divine Light). Guru Nanak was, therefore, the EMBODIMENT of Divine Light: ‘Gur Nanak Dev Govind roop.’ ‘Guru Nanak is embodiment of the Light of God.’ (Basant Mohalla 5, p-1192, Guru Granth Sahib) The Guru in sikhi is a perfect Prophet or Messenger of God in whom the Light of God shines fully, Guru is in union with Divine. Thus he ushers the devotees, into a spiritual path of truth. Through the guru the Glory of the Lord is transmitted to humanity. Though God is everywhere and in everybody but His traits are illuminated through the Guru. The Jot (Divine Light) that enshrined Guru Nanak’s body and the Primal Jot of God are, therefore, one and the same: ‘Gur Nanak Nanak har soai.’ ‘O Nanak, Jot of Nanak and God are one.’ (Gaund Mohalla 5, p-865) When Guru Nanak conferred Guruship on Bhai Lehna (later called Guru Angad), the JOT was passed on and Guru Angad too became the embodiment of Divine Light. In the same way all the nine Gurus were the embodiments of Gur Nanak Jot. (i.e one candle lighting another candle) The tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh then conferred the Guruship on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, which too became the embodiment of Divine Light. Gur Nanak JOT is, therefore, enshrined and preserved in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and it is the Living Guru for ever. note: that salvation is only obtained with the grace of the true guru.(sri guru granth sahib ji) all other pankandis such as the radhoswamis and namdharis who bel ieve in thier fake gurus are on the wrong path and are losing their salvation through their ignorance.
  4. Panj Kakkar Issue - Kacchera Sikhnet is giving ANTI-GURMAT ADVICE in the past...and they have done it again. Now they say we can remove Kashera while bathing! According to rehatnamas, we are not supposed to remove our Kashera when we wash our bodies, and supposed to change one leg at a time...but Sikhnet says that this is fanatical! Sikhnet needs to get its act together and actually study rehatnamas etc...and give advice accordingly, rather than use their own views... PS---i have alot of respect for the 'American-born Gursikhs'...my complaint is not against them...it is against the people who are giving advice on the youth message board. HERE IS THE QUESTION AND ANSWER... Hello..first of all i would like to congratulate to those who are maintaining this forum sessions...u people r doin a great job.. i would just want to know how to handle the kachera when we are bathing.. can we take it off while we r bathing or do we need to have it attached with us..i`m confused abt this.. and also i would like to KNOW how to handle kachera while having sex..i hope u people could clear my doubt Sat Siri Akaal. Of course you should remove kachera when bathing (as in washing your body, not swimming). And, kachera can also be removed for sex with one's spouse (can't imagine not removing them!). We must not be fanatic! The idea of kachera is a consciousness of chastity and that the sexual organs and their functions are sacred. Kacheras are not to make us fanatic about hiding our bodies, that sex is bad, and/or that we should never take them off. Kacheras should be changed daily, too. Guru ang sang, - DKK The main reason im upset because, who knows how many people out there have read that reply and began removing their Kasheras when bathing. By Singh Once we went to see Bhai Harbhajan Singh Yogi in New Mexico and while we were talking, he told us that when he just came abroad he didn't bring a lot of stuff with him. He only had one kashera which we was wearing when he came here and he used to bathe in the same kacheara and then wait for it to dry up while he was wearing it! If someone who lived with hundreds of western minded people and didn't have a problem obeying this rehit, why should we? By Singh Post is still up there on Sikhnet Youth Forum with no edition at all. Finally we are forced to make this website to alert Sangats on these important issues.
  5. I have read this one reply posted on 3/11/2004. A girl who considers herself a Sikh and want to marry a muslim. The moderator does NOT have the gutts to say that Sikhs are only allowed to marry Sikhs. As I have posted one of my replies in another email on this topic in response to DKK's reply. Sikhnet folks are misleading people. Is there anything we can do? Why not we do something as a group? so that sikhnet ppls stop misleading ppl??? I still have not heard anything from sikhnet about my previous email. Its been few weeks. anyway, read it: waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ke fateh... I am a 19 year old sikh woman and i do consider myself to be religious. I follow things which i understand and believe is right such as doing my paat going to the gurdwara and doing sewa etc, although i do cut my hair. I have been with my boyfriend for 1 and a half years and he is muslim. Our relationship has been an on-off relationship because of the hassles we get for having different beliefs and choosing different ways of praying. He has never not once asked me to convert to his religion and tells me he appreciates the way i believe some things so strongly about my religion. The problem is we just got engaged a month ago and i don't know if i should go through with the marriage or if my religion will allow me to? So many people are against us being together just because we hold different beliefs...especially my family. I hate lieing to my family but i feel as though im forced to do so when it comes to him. I love him so much i feel like im torn between him and the rest of the world. What i don't understand is that out guru's made it so clear that we are all equal in God's eyes.So why can't sikhs and muslims still not be seen as equal in everyone's eyes? We don't want to marry until another three years and i am upsetting him and myself by worrying sick about whether my guru would allow this to happen or not. Could you please advise me in whether or not it is actually allowed-marrying a muslim-or not. Would anyone be willing to marry us in a gurdwara because that is the only place i would ever want to get married. Is there anyone i could directly speak to in London or Southampton about gettin married to a muslim in a gurdwara? Thankyou so much for your time... siknet replied...... Take the emotions out of your decision. Sit down with your self and think about what is really important to you in relation to your religion and marriage. For example, does it matter to you that you and your husband will not pray together? Does it matter to you that you will celebrate different holidays? How will you raise the children? Love is more than attraction and "chemistry" between two people. After you have thoroughly thought this out, discuss it all with your fiance. How does he feel about these things? I'm not saying that you can't work these things out, but its better to discuss it now before you marry. Don't be in an illusion. The decision you make will be with you for your life. Conflict erases love faster than anything. If you can work it out, go to one of the Gurdwaras in London and ask if you can be married there. Don't base your decision on what others think, but you must be realistic and practicle. Blessings, GTKK
  6. By Harmit Athwal 30 September 2004, 4:00pm A Sikh human rights activist has been brutally beaten by racists in Coventry. On 26 September, 34 year-old Jagdeesh Singh was walking home with his 10-year-old nephew from Walsgrave Hospital when he was subjected to a barrage of racist abuse. Two White men then launched a physical attack on Mr Singh - punching him some 30 times, while calling him 'Bin Laden' and 'Paki'. According to Mr Singh, the attack was the seventh violent racist attack on him in the last ten years, and definitely the worst. 'On none of these seven occasions has the culprits been punished. They have either escaped or the police have not felt it appropriate to pursue the matter further.' Mr Singh, who wears a beard and turban, suggested that these visible 'symbols' had been the trigger for the attacks. The latest attack comes at a time, when incidents against Muslims, Sikhs and other visible ethnic minorities are increasing and in recent months, the city of Coventry has been targeted by British National Party propaganda about Muslims and Asians 'preying on their girls'
  7. every khlasa is meant to greet each other by saying "waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ke fateh." the khlasa belongs to god, victory is of god meaning thta the khlasa is the army of god, when victorious in battle the victory doesnt go to know man but the victory goes to god, becuase the khalsa fights for rightouness. but mordern day youngsters have created their own slang, which when u think about has no real meaning when greeting another sikh. for example. fateh-means victory, gur fateh, victory to the guru but most youth spell it as gur instaed of guru............ guru ji is already victourious , guru ji teaches his diciples how to win the game of life. i really think we need to stick to the traditional greeting. stay old skool.
  8. it is every sikhs duty to protect the truth. it is every sikhs duty to protect the honour of guru ji. if there r certain groups slanderin guru ji and spredin falsness. then a true sikh must speak against these activities and make the masses aware. if all peaceful means fail the sikh has no choice but to lift the sword and go in to war. u tease a lion u get bit. but right now we need to shame and name the fake sects and make sure the futher youth dont get cuaght up in these false webs.
  9. Let's then at least keep away from them. We allow them to do Kirtan in our Gurdwaras because they are considered to to good classical Raag kirtan. Local Sikh Council of Gurdwaras allow them to be part of the group. They are consulted on Sikh issues. We even give them a float when we have Nagar Kirtans. Their monthly publications such as 'Satyug' are seen inside UK Gurdwara libraries. We should have no contact with them as per Dhirmalias or Ram Rais. But the fact is we do.
  10. What will we ever do about the Namdharis and their Gurudom?! No other group claims to have direct Guru lineage from Guru Gobind Singh. Pakhandi Namdhari guru Jagjit Singh claims to be the 15th Nanak. But why do we not do anything about their claims. Just because they wear white and do paka Rag Kirtan we seem to let them get away with their claims. They have now started puting a white Nishaan Sahib outside their deras. They are classified as Gurdwaras, they are part of the local council of Gurdwaras along with Singh Sabha Gurdwaras. They claim our history is a mistake. They mock our Kirpans and claim that we have got it wrong. They mock our Guru, Sacahy Padshah Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. So why do we associate ourselves with them. Why have we never done anything about them. Just because they are politically linked!? When did we start getting scared of the politically connected. Isn't it time we did something about it ?
  11. just found out , this had nothing to do with no sikh society, it was done by a new group of people called the science of sprituality UK-the main head quarters in dehli. so yet another government funded project to divide sikhi. www.sos.org ---- website of the people who organised the event. Sorry to the sikh society of kings uni
  12. OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what is the sikh society of that uni letting him promote his bul for. im sure some one invited him in the first place. some one needs to sort it out. sikh society should have no associations with slanderers of guru ji. or is there a radhasowami society at that uni. where is the boss lot, u need to step in, if a sikh society is behind this act!!!!
  13. GET REAL< GET REAL GET REAL GET REAL GET REAL FIX UP a khalsa is a saint soldier. anyone regardless of colour gender can jion the khalsa panth by the administraion of amrit.(water mixed with the double-edged sword). the khalsa follows guru ji(sri guru granth sahib ji). Khalsa is to be armed at all times(kirpan). khalsa is to fight against opression, help the poor and the weak. khalsa is too deliver justive protect humanity and nature. khalsa is too protect trurh. A true khlasa follows the commands in Sri guru granth sahib ji-our living guru. Sri guru granth sahib ji codemns killing and eating of animals. no intoxicants are to be taken. Bhang was used as a medicine back in the days. a sikh is not too eat meat under no costs. a sikh fights crime, a sikh does not commit crime. when u try to kill a chicken it runs, would u want to get killed so that some1 can eat u. get real people dont listen to the slanders of sikhi, they r planted by indian government to weaken khalsa sprit. Sri guru gobind Singh ji didnt allow his Singhs to kill animals even in extreme conditions. becuase there is no point fighting crime when u r gonna commite a crime by bucthering an animal. a sikh is a punisher not a murderer. sikhs punish the evil-doer to death. they dont murder other living beings. namdharis, nangs(fake nihangs created by indiain government, e.g nidder singh) radhasomis and all other sects are slanderes of guru ji and sikhi. u r either a sikh of Sri guru granth sahib ji- or a khalsa of sri guru granth sahib ji. all sikhs must take amrit to become khalsa. without amrit there is no salvation- "take amrit prepared with double edged sword, so that ur life becomes sucessful and blessed" bhai gurdas singh ji(2) // 41 U r only true blessed if u become amritdhari and live a truthful life following the path of gurbani. only then with guru ji,s grace can you obtain salvation. people say u dont need amrit, that is bul, without amrit there is no salvation.
  14. the taksal has never been apart of budha dal. stop chatting waffles. taksal was craeted by Sri guru gobind singh ji. get ur facts right b4 putting up a post. it is wrong to confuse the youngsters.
