  4. Do not give up on path and simran, these are the things you will need to help you through this hard time. Whose opinion do you care about most 'other people' or your Guru's? The main thing about sikhs is that we stand out, thats why Guru Ji gave us this saroop, you should be proud of it. Also, look on the bright side if people to ask you about facial hair it gives you the opportunity to tell them about sikhi. Don't worry about, to most people facial hair does not matter.
  5. Vjkk Vjkf I was in a similar posistion before I got married, but my husband is not really bothered it, i dont think he even notices...so dont worry about it, marriage is about much more than just looks, trust me! I also agree with the others and think you should talk about it with him. The main thing is that you should have confidence in yourself, if you show that it doesnt matter to you and be confident about it it wont be an issue. You should be proud that you are a gursikh!
  6. you put your faith un Guru Ji that whatever he does will be the right thing for you.
  7. Did I say that my husband had not revised? He has been revising hard for ages, just because some people pass first time does not mean it is the same for everyone! Also, I do not want the governement to change their rules just because of my husband. Its my husbands experience that had helped me to see what nonsense the test and how hard it is for people to learn stupid facts and figures about the UK which they are never going to need after the test. Prem Veer Ji I find your post riduculous, this topic is asking for help, so if you haven't got anything useful to say don't say anything. I think I might start a petition to add to forum rules so that only uselful and helpful replies are posted to topics, as you say people start a petition for anything these days! Proud to be singhni penji could you tell me more about Hounslow,
  8. please sign this petition: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Foreign-Spouses/ My husband has taken this test 4 times each time it costs 35 pounds and now cos he still hasnt passed we have to pay 395 for an extensiona and then 750 pounds once he has passed for a visa. Its crazy half the people in the uk wudnt even no the answers to the qs they ask, my husband does well to at least get most of them right. Please please help.
  9. ok so back to the issue How could we get Monty involved? any ideas?
  10. vjkk vjkf Does anybody have a contact number for Bhai Roop Singh the story teller in Leeds, I would like to ask him to come to the school i'm on placement in to come and talk to the kids. Also does anybody know of people who could come and do a Gatka demonstration at the school, in the wk beginning 30th June? Vjkk vjkf
  11. VJKK VJKF In Leeds we have many Muslim school, church of england school, catholic school etc etc but no Sikh school. I am on placement in a Church of England School and there are so many Sikhs there! Wouldn't it be better if they went to a faith school of their and learnt about their own religion? Also i recently listened to a talk by a very inspiration singh entitled Jago (Sorry cnt remember his name). Nway he was sayin how we as a community do not do enough to teach our children about sikhi and that why we are so open to conversion cos its soo easy for others to put doubts in our minds. so why can't we do this for our children, Sikhs that what we are about - teaching and learning, so then why aren't we educating out young. We could make such a big difference, we could even teach Punjabi as a modern foreign Lang. Is there anybody hu wud be interested in supporting me with this? Vjkk Vjkf
  12. vjkk vjkf I did not get it, BUMP! Anyway I said to Guru Jee before I went for the interview that whatever you do is for the best, so its all good, whatever he does is the best, though I can't help feeling a little down. Oh well. I just hated the whole process of applying and now I'll have to do it all again! hmmm 6 x table How about games like bingo, the ping pong game - where you say 1 and they say 6 etc, I don't know if you've seen the who wants to be a millionaire powerpoint (if you haven't i'll post a link where you can get it) but maybe you could use that as a quiz. how about a CD where they could sing along to it - could they even compose a song themselves in a music lesson? What I use is this game but i use it with yr2 don't know if year 4 would like it? Its a spelling game, but i use it for the times tables - when it spins i get them to say it and then afterwards get them to come up and see if they can remember the sum. http://www.crickweb.co.uk/assets/resources...p;file=looksay2 hope this helps. vjkk vjkf
  13. vjkk vjkf Thank you! Right here's what I've decided to do. L.O. - To recite a poem with appropriate intonation and expression. First I'm gonna read the poem in the wrong way, so basically no expression, monotone, really boring. Then get the kids to feedback - did I read it out well? Why not? Next split children into small groups with at least with one good reader in each group. Rest of the class direct the best reader on how to read the poem, using points they fed back. plenary Perform and then use plenary triangle to assess learning. - What have you learnt from what you Saw, Heard, Did? How does that sound??? I'm trying not to get them too hyper so that I can manage them as its going to be a class that I know. I think we should have our own little section on this site or something, it would be really good to swap ideas etc - especially from the other countries. Vjkk Vjkf Thanks again! vjkk vjkf Wicked idea! I never thought about it like that thanx. :D
  14. vjkk vjkf Thank you for your support! there are 23 children in the class, 1 lsa who is not allocated to a child. level range from p8-2b. English new Framework for english. All they have said is choose a poem suitable for yr2 so i was thinking the NIng nang nong by spike mulligan and to do some sort speaking and listening. the school is really big on VAK and accellerated learning. thank you VJkk Vjkf
  15. Vjkk Vjkf I have to teach a 30 min lesson for a year 2 class as part of my interview task. I have to choose an objective from the new framework and teach it through a poem. Has anybody got any ideas pleaseeeeeeee??? Thank you Vjkk Vjkf

  17. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!! I THINK GURU GOBIND SINGH JEE TOLD US TO THINK OF GURU GRANTH SAHIB JEE MAHARAJ AS OUR LIVING GURU AND GURU GRANTH SAHIB JEE IS INFACT LIVING - THE 10 JOHTS ALL IN ONE.......THE JOHTS ARE THERE ! INSIDE THATS WHAT MAKES GURU JEE LIVING.......... VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!!!!!!!!!!
  18. VAHGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !! Maybe Guru Ji is demonstrating to us the fact that bani is to be recited/repeated ? Also the contexts these banis are repeated in may well have great bearing on the meaning of the whole shabad, those small differences you refer to in your post have great influences on the meaning of the whole shabad. Just a point about this comment........The Guru's were one Joht in 11 different forms...whether it be the human form or another as demonstrated by the form of Guru Granth Sahib Jee. This leads me to the reason we do not refer to Guru Jee's ANGS (Meaning Limbs) as Pages as Guru Jee is a living Guru, it is direspectful to refer to Guru Jee as a book whether directly or indirectly. hope that helps phull chukk muaff VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!!!!!!!!!

  20. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!! GUJRI, FOURTH MEHL: O Gurmukhs, O my friends and companions, give me the gift of the Lords Name, the life of my very life. I am the slave, the servant of the Gurus Sikhs, who meditate on the Lord God, the Primal Being, night and day. || 1 || Within my mind and body, I have enshrined love for the feet of the Gurus Sikhs. O my life-mates, O Sikhs of the Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, instruct me in the Teachings, that I might merge in the Lords Merger. || 1 || Pause || When it pleases the Lord God, he causes us to meet the Gurmukhs; the Hymns of the Guru, the True Guru, are very sweet to their minds. Very fortunate are the beloved Sikhs of the Guru; through the Lord, they attain the supreme state of Nirvaanaa. || 2 || The Sat Sangat, the True Congregation of the Guru, is loved by the Lord. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is sweet and pleasing to their minds. One who does not obtain the Association of the True Guru, is a most unfortunate sinner; he is consumed by the Messenger of Death. || 3 || If God, the Kind Master, Himself shows His kindness, then the Lord causes the Gurmukh to merge into Himself. Servant Nanak chants the Glorious Words of the Gurus Bani; through them, one is absorbed into the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 4 || 5 || Friday, 3rd Poh (Samvat 537 Nanakshahi) (ANG: 493-494) VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEHGURU JI KI FATEH !!
  21. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!!!!!!! WADAHANS, THIRD MEHL: O my mind, the world comes and goes in birth and death; only the True Name shall emancipate you in the end. When the True Lord Himself grants forgiveness, then one does not have to enter the cycle of reincarnation again. He does not have to enter the cycle of reincarnation again, and he is emancipated in the end; as Gurmukh, he obtains glorious greatness. Imbued with love for the True Lord, he is intoxicated with celestial bliss, and he remains absorbed in the Celestial Lord. The True Lord is pleasing to his mind; he enshrines the True Lord in his mind. Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, he is emancipated in the end. O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam, merge in the True Lord; they are not cast into the terrifying world-ocean again. || 1 || Emotional attachment to Maya is total madness; through the love of duality, one is ruined. Mother and father all are subject to this love; in this love, they are entangled. They are entangled in this love, on account of their past actions, which no one can erase. The One who created the Universe, beholds it; no other is as great as He. The blind, self-willed manmukh is consumed by his burning rage; without the Word of the Shabad, peace does not come. O Nanak, without the Name, everyone is deluded, ruined by emotional attachment to Maya. || 2 || Seeing this world on fire, I have hurried to the Sanctuary of the Lord. I offer my prayer to the Perfect Guru: please save me, and bless me with Your glorious greatness. Preserve me in Your Sanctuary, and bless me with the glorious greatness of the Lords Name; there is no other Giver as great as You. Those who are engaged in serving You are very fortunate; throughout the ages, they know the One Lord. You may practice celibacy, truth, austere self-discipline and rituals, but without the Guru, you shall not be emancipated. O Nanak, he alone understands the Word of the Shabad, who goes and seeks the Lords Sanctuary. || 3 || That understanding, imparted by the Lord, wells up; there is no other understanding. Deep within, and beyond as well, You alone exist, O Lord; You Yourself impart this understanding. One whom He Himself blesses with this understanding, does not love any other. As Gurmukh, he tastes the subtle essence of the Lord. In the True Court, he is forever True; with love, he chants the True Word of the Shabad. Within his home, he finds the home of his own inner being; the True Guru blesses him with greatness. O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam find the Mansion of the Lords Presence; their understanding is true and approved. || 4 || 6 || Sunday, 28th Maghar (Samvat 537 Nanakshahi) (ANG 571) VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!!!!!!!
  22. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!!!!!! JAITSREE, FOURTH MEHL: The Lords Name does not abide within their hearts their mothers should have been sterile. These bodies wander around, forlorn and abandoned, without the Name; their lives waste away, and they die, crying out in pain. || 1 || O my mind, chant the Name of the Lord, the Lord within you. The Merciful Lord God, Har, Har, has showered me with His Mercy; the Guru has imparted spiritual wisdom to me, and my mind has been instructed. || Pause || In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Kirtan of the Lords Praise brings the most noble and exalted status; the Lord is found through the True Guru. I am a sacrifice to my True Guru, who has revealed the Lords hidden Name to me. || 2 || By great good fortune, I obtained the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the Holy; it removes all stains of sin. I have found the True Guru, the great, all-knowing King; He has shared with me the many Glorious Virtues of the Lord. || 3 || Those, unto whom the Lord, the Life of the world, has shown Mercy, enshrine Him within their hearts, and cherish Him in their minds. The Righteous Judge of Dharma, in the Court of the Lord, has torn up my papers; servant Nanaks account has been settled. || 4 || 5 || Saturday, 27th Maghar (Samvat 537 Nanakshahi) (ANG : 697) VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!!!
