  1. Brother Big Tera, please do not fall in commiting the same mistakes, which other dharams do, by trying to convert people to their creed. That is very much agyanta, for converting is ahankar, and ahankar is the mother of all maladies. Coversions are not a part , nor poor shadows of sikhi. Guru Jee tells us, we become intoxicated with ahankar, when we keep Him out of our minds. In replying to the title of this present thread, let us see what Satguru Nanak tells us in His paviter Bani in the following verses : ਬੰਦਿ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਭਾਣੈ ਹੋਇ ॥ Bandh Khalaasee Bhaanai Hoe || Liberation from bondage comes only by Your Will. ਹੋਰੁ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ Hor Aakh N Sakai Koe || No one else has any say in this. You see, it is He, Wahiguru Akal Purukh, who by His Hukum/Will, Kirpa, chooses and gives liberation from birth and death to those wadbhagee souls. Not by any human conversions. So you see the question of conversion falls down by its own gravity, it has no place in sikhee, it is just as much manmat as done wrongly by other creeds, whether in the past, present or future. He Wahiguru, is the only Kartar, we are all puppets, and as such, we can not do nothing by ourselves, but get more and more trapped in the strong net of maya and agyanta, unless He by Himself pulls us out. Stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.
  2. The need of moral charcter for being spiritually strong If we wish to avoid falling under the influence of delusion we must guard our mind and prevent it from wandering in agyanta, mainly due to mother ahankar. We cannot practice moral discipline purely if we have an unguarded mind. If we can learn how to protect our mind from delusion and yoke it to the practice of virtue, or subh karam and being selfless, with utmost humility then our moral discipline will grow in strength and eventually be perfected. If we neglect to guard our mind, however, many faults will arise, and we shall get farther away and away from the Ultimate Truth

  4. Happiness Happiness perhaps once had featuresOf a single, compact whole, But countless are the craving creaturesPraying God some bliss to dole.He therefore must have sadly shatteredHappiness into many a bitAnd had the pieces widely scatteredTo give all eyes a glimpse of it.So, those who wish to own a shareShould not think it strain or stressTo search around, with utmost care, Some dazzling fragments to possess.A particle here, a particle there, To your happy lot may fall; Not any time, not anywhere, can you ever find them all. However long, however far-Spreading your quest may be, Too many are, too tiny areThe splinters all for you to see.In common can you best enjoyWhatever happiness comes your way. With others if you share your joy, It well may stage a longer stay.Give your neighbour just a halfAnd see your pleasure growig double: Make your neighbour smile or laugh; You yourself with glee will bubble. by Tulsi Hanumanthu Joy And Sorrow Chapter Viii by Khalil Gibran A woman said, "Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow." And he answered: Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be? The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater." But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed. Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy. Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced. When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.
  5. Hope Is Not Lost When the desperation hit When the people cried in the streets When everything felt at loss Hope stayed, even though fleaing would be easier When the eyes were full of tears. When kids and families were torn apart By that last desperate grasp Hope tried When all else gave up When all else backed off When people lost all they had Hope flew When they cried When the world was shocked with desperation and dispair When nothing seemed good Hope worked When those four planes crashed When the buildings fell When the lives were lost Hope was there Hope was only a tiny glimmer Hope was still there She ran to those who needed her She worked to help When all else failed Hope didn't She flew through us all Letting us know, we still had her We just needed to look hard enough Hope was there Hope remembers Jessica Millsaps
  6. A Broken Soul You were broken yesterday The pain this world is inflicting The tears you should have shed The sorrows you should have uttered This world is cruel my child It is OK to cry - let those tears fall Loosen those pains buried within your heart This world cares little for our plights Don't smile when you're suppose to cry Mourn when it's necessary, never fake happiness It is OK to be sad, open that closet Take off the bitterness of yesterday Open your mouth Break the silence of bitterness Let off those griefs and unspoken regrets You cannot walk with chains on your legs The past is holding you down Break those chains Let off those grudges Vengeance doesn't heal You're not broken my child You're just in repair mode This is the way of life Cry when you're in sorrow Smile when you're happy It shows you're alive Pick up the pieces and walk on Swim up the stream There is an Island of happiness This world is so cruel Fight your way through It may break you down Hold yourself still Stab your heart Tear your innocent soul. But keep on walking Regardless of the tortures They have been here long We've suffered Time sold us to sorrow. Pain held our hearts Tied it to the incessant plights of yesterday Please, my child Don't stay down Get up now. Claim what's yours By Lundi Ncuthu
  7. Let Love Be Universal As you see universally There is a great fall Let love stretch its hands being universal To love and teach us to love all, Love has a great power in its tender hands To touch with love and care of all, Yet you may ask how That's when they, you and we all will love one another Enmity, envy, hatred, greed, wrath, bestiality will be no more And then anyhow We all will solve together Misunderstandings, chaos, disputes in us appear, When love will be universal Man of earth will be angel Angel in activities Human in realities. Poem by Muzahidul Reza
  8. Anyone can love a virtue, but a good human being is he or she who loves even vicious people. Everyone Loves the melodious voice of cuckoo, but who cares for Kaw- Kaw of crow. Many possible things were impossible before they were possible One hour with Mother is more, than Without her, an age. No happiness gives happiness, until you share it with someone. No talented person remains a talented without a perseverance. No man can become perfect until he knows his true nature. And the person who knows his or her true nature cannot be an imperfect.
  9. This is a sensitive answer. Congrats. This your statement above is more in accordance with sikhee. Science is limited to the mind, while sikhee is the path which, takes you across and above the mental spheres, in the real spiritual planes, right upto Sach Khand. To follow and walk on the path of sikhee, only love and faith are required, of course His grace also above all. That is why Guru Jee said: Sochay soch na hovaee. Means think or try to reason about Him, be it hundreds of thousands of times, then too it will be of no avail, for the indriyas used as instruments by the body and mind to analyze His Nature, are poor and limited, they are good for the material and finite creation, but not for Him, who is apaar and beant Soami. Sat Sree Akal.
  10. ????????????☝???????????????????? ??????????????☝ This is what could be called an answer from a sikh in essence. Keep up bro this your precious attitude towards sikhee. Stay blessed, Sat Sree Akal.
  11. Brother, the only answer to your question above, I can give you, is that, first of all, anybody who believes in the teachings of sikhee, is more by His kirpa, than our human understanding. Secondly, again it is by His grace, for even if there is no conatct/preaching/support, then, they(other people) get inspired, and get the message of sikhee, from each sikh brother and sister, when others see or look at us and come in conatct with us, for Guru Sahiban, made us, to their form of purity, love, and discipline, through Gurbani/Bhakti. So if Guru Jee has made us to their image, with their blessings, it is our duty as individuals and collectivelly sikhs, to stay up to the values and high standards Guru Jee taught us to fill ourselves with them, such as truthfulness, purity, mercy, devotion, sewa, kindness, sweetness, towards all; just as They themselves did so with mankind, irrespective of caste, color, or creed. Sabna jeea ka Iko Daata. Wahiguru Akal purukh Sat Sree Akal.
  12. Well the way you present this present thread, is most likely to be from a muslim person. No sikh, can ever ask things you do here, or the way you present them. It is just not possible, and though we have ample variety of people with quite different views, but never the way you do. It looks more like an outsider, than from a sikh background, not even as an hindu, nor christian. Then too, it has nothing to do with smartpants as you perceive it, it is more to logic, and common sense, or call it attention, as we all learn here, from the types of people coming and going, all these years. A true sikh never debates with another sikh, a sikh can inspire or uplift another sikh, lastly sikh only listens to Guru Jee to get his/her answers, for himself or herself, through Gurbani only. For, Guru Jee is the only teacher, and we are all sikhs, means disciples, students, learners .... If you considere yourself knowledgeable, just write what you want to say, and see the replies you get from the wise sangat here, as if they agree with you or not, but do not debate, for debating is done within 2 or more parties of different creeds, for example islamic or sikhee, hindu, catholic, etc Debating is more to inflate hankar, by defeating opponents, than to do with learning humbly, for as it is in sikhee with humility and devotion, for the only one Supreme Truth, Wahiguru Akal Purukh. A student learns from a teacher, but then, the student does not debate with the teacher in order to learn something. Ask freely, and you will be answered. Wahiguru has wisely given us double the ears than the mouth, so that we humbly listen more, and talk less with haume .... Stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.
  13. It is better to conquer someone´s mind and heart, by sharing with them the supreme Truth through Gurbani, which is nothing, but a story of love between the father or Wahiguru Akal Purukh and the jeev atma/soul. There where is love at heart, no sword, no violence, no oppression, can arise. Then too, Sikhee´s aim is Sach Khand, the so called place of eternity, that too, through only love, only bhakti, at His lotus Feet, rest is all "koorr", "maya", manmukhta, all which, a real sikh is not interested in it at all, for his only intention and duty, is to follow, the very steps and teachings of our beloved Guru Sahiban, through one pointedness Bhakti. Politics and demographic policies are world oriented, while sikhee´s direction is far beyond any creation, is right into the realms of the only Kartar, Wahiguru Akal Purukh Sat Sree Akal.
