  1. This might make me unpopular, but has anyone else ever considered this might all be a psyop by Indian government? I.e. what if amritpal has actually been created by Indian government as "controlled opposition" to control the narrative on khalistan. Maybe by showing him now running away, they are trying to invoke fear in Sikhs- don't bother starting any movement because you can't face the wrath of the Indian government- and they show this by having their agent (amritpal) talk big and then get scared and run when police come after him.  If you look at all the media in india - they are pushing the same narrative. I think this might all be a big drama created by Indian government to make Sikhs lose faith in activism, and show rest of the world and india that there are major problems in punjab and with Sikhs across the world, so that they can then be 'justified'to do things they want to do to punjab/Sikhs (agendas to do with controlling punjab,  water etc).

    Thank you Veer Ji.

Is there any reason for me to be concerned about the taxis? Even though I can speak Punjabi, my accent will immediately give away that I am an NRI. Is there any chance that taxi drivers may try to kidnap me or rob me or anything like that?

The idea of staying the night at a reputable hotel overnight and going through them sounds good.

You are definite right to be concerned about taxi safety.  The suggestions I've given I think are the safest bets,  as airports and hotel taxis are quite official so one would be hope that it should be safer than randoms. Taxis through big companies are also safer.

A hotel like marriot, hyatt etc deals with foreign people all the time and they provide taxi service - this I would imagine is generally one of the safest options.

  3. Whether dehli airport or amritsar Airport, both have got a taxi kiosk INSIDE the airport itself.

Once you have collected luggage, the last part of the airport before you exit the airport building, you have the last restaurant or two, currency exchange and also a taxi kiosk. You go to the kiosk and tell them where you need the taxi to - if I remember correctly you get a slip with a number on it and get told to go to the relevant area just outside the airport. Your driver will approach you and should tell you the same number you have on the slip to prove they are your taxi driver. Price will have been arranged inside with the kiosk people already. I'm not sure if the system has changed but the taxi kiosk inside inside airport should definitely be safe I believe.

The only issue I can see with the above is that I'm not sure if the airport one will take you all the way to moga (or if they do,not sure if they will give you a difficult rate). In this case what I can suggest is getting the airport taxi to a reputable hotel nearby. E.g. marriot or hyatt etc. Stay the night and get them to arrange you a taxi for your longer journey to moga.

Another option if you land in Sri Amritsar Sahib is to get the airport taxi to take you up to Harmandar Sahib. Once at Harmandar Sahib there is a road where all the saraan (sgpc guesthouses for sangat) are , this is the road which leads up to baba atal rai ji gurdwara /kaulsar sahib gurdwara , it is just to one side of Harmandar Sahib about 3 mins away. On this road there should be some taxi ranks - i have used one there which I think has since closed down, but I would hope any of those stalls would be trustworthy as they are based in quite a prominent position so would probably want to avoid bad pr.

Finally india has apps such as uber and an india only equivalent called "ola". There are also big taxi companies like "megacabs" which you can book over the phone.

Dressing as a nihang singh in india generally leads to being dealt with with respect.

As for hotels, you may struggle in moga. Websites like Expedia and booking.com will have hotel listings. Unless someone gives you you recommendation, it is better to stay in a known international chain hotel.on the better end you have marriott, hyatt, Ramada , you also have decent hotels like best western, holiday Inn etc. They are in bigger towns and cities like amritsar Sahib, Jalandhar,  chandigarh, ludhiana etc

  4. Kanshi TV (SKY 772) the Ravidassi Channel which is supposedly run by followers of Bhagat Ravidaas Jee, quite contradictorily also shows Christian programming.

In the below video you can see shameless distortion of Gurbani shabad "sun sun jeeva teri bani" and also a cheap imitation copy of famous Sikh dharna "vaheguru bol kade na dol"

Video is of the episode of "All Nations Church" currently showing live today 1 August 2022 at 20:00

I request sangat to please complain to the channel who must apologise for this disrespect and provide assurance that this will not happen again.

  5. There is a video going around of a nihang Singh at the farmers protest in Delhi talking about how at some nihang Dal Amrit sanchars there are two baate of Amrit - from reading around apparently 'mazbhi Sikh" have to have a separate bata of Amrit from everyone else and also there are separate pangats in langar.

Does anyone know what this is about?

  6. Who is the jathedar of Tarna Dal?

What are the different branches of Tarna Dal?

Which section of to Tarna Dal is associated with Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Jee, I have heard it is hariavela but then I have also heard it is Baba Bakala?

  7. I would suggest becoming a nihang, this way *DELETED*

Also nihang Singh often just wear the *DELETED*

Nihang Singhs often don't mind their *DELETED*- but encourage them to keep head hair uncut.

I would strongly recommend finding some local nihang Singhs and I am almost sure they will convince you to stay in Sikhi and show you a more liveable and workable Sikhi.

It's fine to listen to nitnem if you don't do it yourself.

Sikhi is not meant to be stressful, don't hold yourselves to the standards of the amritdharis you initially saw.

In the West, you have basically got Amritdhari groups that have been based upon the most extreme sections of Amritdhari community. If you go to Punjab, or outside like hazur sahib etc you will see much more normal Amritdharis that don't do half the stuff Amritdharis in the West say you need to do.

It is fine if you just listen to your nitnem, don't eat halal meat,  don't have sex outside your marriage,. Don't smoke tobacco and don't cut your hair and don't take intoxicants.

With kakkars just do your best as you can and don't get too hung up on it. It is fine to have your own interpretation. Many Sikhs eg 3ho don't stress on wearing all 5ks while bathing etc.

Other than the above, three main focus should just be on fixing your inside being more humble and defeating the five evils.

It is better to follow a moderate Sikhi than to cut your hair. Just follow the basic for now.

Ask yourself - what would guru ji say to me right now? Would he say it is better to just do the bear minimum as an Amritdhari and add in on more later or to leave Amrit altogether? You don't have to be a perfect Saint, it's fine that you enjoy a physical relationship with your wife. Don't beat yourself up over it.

You don't have to wear Bana, just wear your normal dastar and 5ks

Do ardaas to guru sahib that he may give you the power and mindset to live in the way he wishes you to, not how your mind tells you to.

And don't even worry about panthic issues and khalistan etc for now

  8. Can sangat please suggest hotels or nivas asthans near sri darbar sahib. They have to be a decent standard and no more than half an hour walk.

I have heard about nishkam jatha niwas but when i phoned nobody picked up.

Failing nivas, even hotels which are not too far would be great. I have stayed in hyatt before but as it is on gt road you always need to travel by car to reach darbar sahib. Id prefer a hotel i can get a motor rickshaw from or walk from.

    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  9. When bhatras say rajput this really confuses me, arent bhatras who say they are of rajput backgrounds actually KASHYAP Rajputs which is different from Rajputs who are not related to bhatra community at all?

There are Rajput Sikhs and they are not bhatray, more similar to Khatri so I really don't get it when bhatray say they are rajput.
