  1. poor family is probably going mad with worry and here u lot r making a mockery of it. u sure u lot werent in the indian police after October 1984...?
  2. It is definitely an inspiration. The bhangra scene and people that go to gigs n that normally lead a "happy-go-lucky" kind of life and generally are quite happy in the world they are in. So i think its extremely difficult to give that up and grasp hold of Sikhi when you come from such a background. Bass Singh did used to be one of these DJ types - kinda like the one u wud see on Zee Music with their flash cars and semi-naked girls prancing around - and i imagine he probably would have gone down the same line, creating similar videos and getting a bit of fame whilst hes doing it. Its good to see you becoming a proper Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh Jee. These posts, and the comments on the blog, are from people Bass Singh and although they have ALL been so good, you should note that it doesnt matter what THEY think. What matters is what Guru Maharaj knows of you. Im just tryin to say - dont let it get to your head! Keep it up. Stay in high spirits always. VGKK VGKF
  3. lol! im sure they will be happy u put their pics up!!! Happy Birthday Twinzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
  4. "Ashes to Ashes... Dust to Dust" This phrase, taken from Genesis, is well known. But, in terms of our human origins, how accurate is it? Did we indeed arise from ashes, or did humanity truly emerge from dust? And, if it is true, how do ova and sperm fit into this scheme of things? Purely allegorical. We arose from basic chemicals, via amino acids etc. Whether a Creator was involved is a matter of personal choice, but the chemistry is pretty clear - from simple to complex. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust -- A phrase from the English burial service, used sometimes to denote total finality. It is based on scriptural texts such as 'Dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return' (Genesis 3:19), and 'I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee' (Ezekiel 27:18). Christians reckon if God won't have him the Devil must. According to Sir Walter Scott...that was the form of burial service given by the sexton to the body of the French spy Guiscard, who, in 1711, had attempted to murder Robert Harley." From "Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable" revised by Adrian Room (HarperCollinsPublishers, New York, 1999, Sixteenth Edition).
  5. Happy Birthday SSB, sher_panjabi, Manchester_Sikhi - all inspirational members of the forum! :-) Hope you live long and prosper :T:
  6. Police say Sikh funeral pyre may have broken cremation laws Thursday July 13, 2006 [The Guardian] Police are investigating what is claimed to be the first British religious funeral pyre in modern times, because they believe the blaze many have broken cremation laws which prohibit the burning of human remains in the open air. Yesterday's pyre in Stamfordham, Northumberland, was arranged after Rajpal Mehat, a 31-year-old Indian-born Sikh, drowned in a canal in Southall, west London, last December. His family asked Davender Ghai, president of the Newcastle-based Anglo-Asian Friendship Society, to help after authorities refused to allow his remains to be flown back to India. Mr Ghai, who is a leading campaigner for funeral pyres to be held in Britain, claims that the 1930 Cremation Act does not forbid such ceremonies, and that the legislation is concerned only with the day-to-day running of crematoriums. He said he had carried out the ceremony with the "blessing" of the Northumbria police, only to be told later that he had broken the law. "The police came down here and at first they stopped the cars," he said. "Then the officer said he had been in touch with the chief constable and said 'Yes, you can go ahead with the funeral pyre, according to your religion'." Mr Ghai added the family had not wanted Mr Mehat's soul to remain "restless" for so long after his death. Northumbria police said last night that although they had allowed the ceremony to go ahead, they believed offences may have been committed. "In respecting the values and beliefs of all faiths we did not wish to cause any additional upset to a grieving family," said Superintendent Graham Smith. "This meant all our inquiries were carried out in an extremely sensitive manner before the service got under way. Following further investigation, we believe offences may have been committed under the Cremation Act 1902 in relation to where human remains can legally be cremated." A spokesman for the Department of Constitutional Affairs said: "The 1930 Cremation Act prohibits the cremation of human remains anywhere except in a crematorium." Mr Ghai said: "We have got so many supporters, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Hindus."
  7. REQUEST TO PRITAM SINGH KHALSA: PLEASE bro, change ure pic. Its a horrid pic - i dont want to read any threads just incase i see it. its sick.
  8. My concern is now the long term effects this will have on Sikhi. I do not put it past Ek Niwas to go and start a campaign against our Gurdwaras. How? Well, at the meeting it was explained what the maryadha is for keeping Guru Granth Sahib Jee's saroop. Ek Niwas could challenge that by going around to the different Gurdwaras and filming anti-maryadha activities, and we all know there are still many Gurdwara that are guilty of such activities. I am sure there will be some people from Ek Niwas wanting to show-off to the police and the community. Be Warned.
  9. Even the greatest, poshest, most expensivest restaurants trip up and fall sometimes. i am reminded of a recent Cadbury's fiasco recalling hundreds of thousands of chocolate bars which may have contained salmonella. Just chill. This is Guroo ka Langar. If you choked and died, then im sure it would have been his will. U didnt choke and die though. Luckily, Maharaj gave u gift of sight. instead of disrespecting his langar, udhaa shukar kar, that you are still alive and healthy today. Lakh Lakh Tera Shukarr Vaheguroo Jio
  10. hmm so in a way, the Ramgharia movement is similar to the AKJ movement, founded by Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh?? :|
  11. the KUMI monster beat me to it. Bani can be recited any time of the day. 12. Actually, with older PA systems in particular, they can pick up "wandering" transmissions. Gurdwaras ive seen also use cheapo cabling for their systems - so the actual wires inside are not properly shielded from external frequencies which can easily intercept the signal being sent through the actual cable. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Granthi may actually be right. Benefit of the doubt.
  13. u shudnt have put his email address up..

  15. Tva Prasad Singh : I did not call Gurdwaras "militant" for stopping Ek Niwaas issue. I was referring to the stopping of "printing Gurbani" on cards as a seperate issue. In terms of them coming together, thats a big joke, because they didnt really "come together" - they were all fighting over who would take the glory for it afterwards and it wasnt only the Gurdwaras, but other UK Sikh organisations. Thats a seperate issue to this anyway. In terms of DTF, thats fine. As i said, dont take my word for that as gospel as it was something that was said to me and i am not in a position myself at the moment, to go and find out so im glad u cleared that up.
  16. Jaspaul Singh, you rock! AllStarKobe, do something constructive rather than creating a special ID to come and start a war on a forum which really isnt going to get you anywhere. I was going to write something else to u but I have decided to try and control my josh a little.
  17. Forget that man - we need an official word on this by Akal Takht seeing as they did manage to send an official word on that Ek Nivaass thing. All printers in India, UK and around the world need to know its not only a "hand few militants" who are demanding this beadbi, on a MASS scale, to stop. And dont take this as gospel, but i was told by someone who went to DTF that SGGSJ was on a shelf in the basement area of the store... but i havent checked it out myself so i cant confirm that to be 100% accurate.
  18. WGKK WGKF How come beadbi is allowed by Sikhs on the whole, to Gurbani, to allow printing of "tukks" on wedding cards and other invitation cards so easily available in India and in the UK? People place the cards on shelves etc where they fall by wind, and dont treat it with any respect. This is not good at all. Also, why is DTF allowed to sell Guru Granth Sahib Jee to just anyone?
  19. Apparently, it has been agreed that Maharajs saroop will be taken off Ek Nivaas under an agreement reached today with police, members of the sangat and attendees from Ek Nivaas. And can i just say to the <banned word filter activated> who decided to text "Ek Bakwaass" to everyone ... have some respect for such places of worship. I find it really hurtful when people make fun of the Gurdwara and its damn right rude to go name-calling Ek Niwaas "Bakwaass". Whatever your views on it, it brings people (in a weird way maybe) closer to the Supreme Lord. Just because your views arent inline with it, doesnt mean you can resort to such name calling. I would rather more places of worship open rather than there being more pubs, clubs, bars etc etc opening in place of them. I am sure you would have hurt feelings of people who go to Ek Nivaass and are genuinely passionate about their worship to Maharaj... and for you to hurt their feelings brother, is big paap on your head. Watch what you say and inspire others. Peace out.
  20. "The Muslims refused to the Gurdwara, so you should refuse to go to the mosque." therefore...? ... "Hindus killed thousands of Sikhs in a matter of days in India, so lets go kill thousands of Hindus back??" Some of your replies are very worrying. Brother, go to the mosque. Im surprised i have to say this but back to basics... THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD. HE IS OMNIPRESENT. HE IS EVERYWHERE. HE BELONGS TO ALL. You arent going there for your Muslim peers bruv. Let us know how it goes.
  21. but veeraa, this is the thing. its all about INTENTIONS. I think chatting to a girl with the intention of marriage is better than chatting to a girl with the intention of indulgence in lust or just to have a bit of fun for a couple of months. And the intention to marry does not necessarily include lusftul intentions in there. I suppose your right! Just being pessamistic as I've seen a few of these amritdhari "long term" pre-marital dating relationship fall through lately. Yeh i know what u mean there too. And what i would also add to that is that no matter how long uve known someone or how much u think u know them... u can never know someone 100% and therefore only THEY know their true intentions. SOmetimes, even THEY dont know their own intentions so how could we possibly analyse it? A person can seem to hate on the outside, but have so much pyaar in their heart for u. But in the same way a person can appear to love u so much, yet have so much nuffrat in their heart for u. U can never REALLY know. But thats part and parcel of live. We have to give each other a chance and make up our own minds.
  22. more bani the better... paroh paroh paroh... gaavoh gaavoh gaavoh... BANI NIRANKAAR HAI
