what would u say to putting ur children in sikhi school, i my self dont agree with it, it just would'nt feel right wearing salwaar kameez all day,i was brought up in a normall states school with one punjabi lesson to attend and that was just right for me. be honest to ur self and let me know if u agree with me if not please state ur reasons. only just think about ur children feeling nomall and working in this enviornment.

it's ok to have an english accent to your punjabi.....as long as you can speak punjabi it's all good....just speak more at home i guess i personally learned punjabi in india LOL so no accent haha.....buh yeah....both english and punjabi are a must...if you can't speak or read punjabi...then it'll be difficult to read gurbani from a gutka...yes there are ones written in english...but its easier in gurmukhi....that way you know exactly how to prounouce each word :TH: haha and khalsagirl panji that was sooo funny haha get used to understanding people who speak punjabi fast i know alot of em next time ye wan directions i givin da phone to my nana ji :wub: and like i said...punjabi at home..english at school and other places :wub: bhul chuk maaf

im basically having a bit of a problem with my partner. we are not married yet. but are hoping to take that step in the near future. she said she only wants 2 kids maxuimum. but i told her that i wanted alot of kids. becuase i come from a big family myself.

she comes from a small family herself. is this a punjabi thing not to have many kids??

why do most sikh punjabi families only have 2-3 kids??

I'm of the opinion that no marriage is truly arranged... the choice is ALWAYS with the person getting married. If they choose to agree to whatever their parents say, fine, but that is a dangerous prospect, especially today when so many parents DO NOT SHARE the ideals of their kids.

This works both ways. I know people whose parents are strict gursikhs, and their kids are effective party animals. But I also know (personally) some people who are very much on the path of Sikhi, but their parents and family couldn't give a damn. In these cases, it should be upto the individual to decide what they feel is best.
