1. ONLY A FEW HOURS TO GO BEFORE POSTER/ADVERT IS FINALISED FOR THE UK PLEASE EMAIL Harjinder Singh with any updates on harjinder_2004@hotmail.com 144555 Any chance of someone posting the latest version of the on-line poster for the UK. I'm sure it can be updated with further details as the 17th approaches.
2. Please try and watch this 3 min 51 sec video regarding 1984. It concludes with Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwale talking about the decision in the Mandla v Lee case from 1983. It is surprising that one or two Sikhs who are advising the UK Government fail to recognise the importance of the 1983 decision in the House of Lords that Sant Ji speaks about. One of the advisers likes to see Sikhs simply as a religion and the other goes on about the 'infamous' Para 67 from South Africa that was portrayed as the international solution for the Sikhs which appears to have made no practical impact since being adopted in 2001. 144724 I assume the first reference is to Dr Indarjit Singh and the second to Dr Jasdev Singh Rai. All I say to the Sikhs in the UK and around the globe is do not be taken in by such individuals that will take anti-Panthic positions due to their own egos.
3. Let the World Hear Your Voice Sunday 18th December, 2005 Panthic Weekly Staff Columnist (KP) - We live in the 21st century where you would expect the whole world to be civilised and living a peaceful way in accordance to democratic principles. One would expect governments to protect their citizens and offer support for the citizen's needs. Furthermore, you would expect that maintaining human rights is a norm of for each and every country. Wake up dear brothers and sisters! Across the globe there are injustices happening. The media in the West focuses on certain countries and shares the terrible news of murder, violation of human rights and torture with the whole world watching the news on their television screens. However, the media forgot India. The newspapers overlooked the Sikhs being raped, tortured and illegally detained in Indian prisons. The news-broadcasters turned a blind eye to Sikhs facing death sentences in the “largest democracy” in the world, the country which we would have loved to call our “home country.” Wake up dear brothers and sisters! Not only did the media and western governments turn a blind eye to the innocent Sikh men and women political prisoners languishing in Indian jails, but also people who claimed to be Sikhs turned their backs on those they once considered fellow brothers and sisters. Those claiming to be Sikhs, living in a comfortable home with their family around them, silenced their ears to the cries of Sikh women being raped in Indian jails, so that they could protect their own security and the safety of their own family. But who will ensure the security and safety of our Sikh women in prisons? Those claiming to be Sikhs, working in high-flying jobs and driving expensive vehicles, covered their eyes to the physical, mental and sexual abuse inflicted on young Sikh men in Indian jails, so that they could ensure that they could roam the streets freely and not be scared of one day being arrested for standing up for the truth. But who will fight for the right to walk freely and speak the truth without fear of persecution for the young Sikh men in prisons? Those claiming to be Sikhs, running Gurdwaré Management Committees, attending political events and meeting with influential people as the representative of the Sikh community, blocked their conscience from feeling guilty that while they wine and dine with politicians, leaders and please the media, Sikh women are being raped and tortured in Indian prisons and their husbands are given electric shocks and humiliated with degrading abuse. Listen with your ears, open your eyes, and hear your conscience! Remind yourself of who you are, and where you came from. You are the son and daughter of Guru Gobind Singh jee, the brother or sister of the four Sahibzaadey (princes) who died till their last breath fighting to uphold truth and justice. Recognise your identity. Don’t rely on others to be the role-model. You become the role model. Serve the Panth, serve humanity and serve the world. Be a Saintly Knight who draws the sword of truth and holds the shield of justice, and fight against oppression, injustice and tyranny. You can help make a difference by participating in the Worldwide Day of Protest, which is being organised for 17 January 2006. Sikhs in cities around the world from London, to Paris, to Toronto and to New York are aiming on 17 January to show their opposition to the death penalty and call for the release of all Sikh political prisoners held in jails in India. Support this event and show solidarity to the cause of justice, which our Guru not only preached but also sacrificed themselves for. Brothers and sisters recognise your call to the Panth. Hear the cries of the daughters and sons of the Panth, and realise that the Sikh woman or man languishing in the Indian prison could be your brother or sister. The child being illegally detained by power-intoxicated police officers could be your son or daughter. If we cannot help our own people, how will we serve and help humanity? Don’t just say you are the Sikh of the Guru, instead live the message and spread the message like a rose flower spreads its fragrance all over the garden. Brothers and sisters, may a Sikh spread its fragrance of peace, truth, and justice across the whole world inspiring all to rise to make a better future not just for Sikhs, but for the whole world.

7. SIKH FEDERATION (UK) PRESS RELEASE Friday 12 August 2005 SIKHS DEMAND INTERNATIONAL ACTION TO DEAL WITH 21 YEARS OF INDIAN INJUSTICE AND SHAME The Sikh Federation (UK) has to date been silent about the hot air following the release of the Nanavati Commission report earlier this week and the reaction of political opportunists in India. The contents of the report and the inevitable delay in the report being made public came as no surprise. The whitewash and clean chit it has provided for the Congress leadership simply reinforces our firmly held view that Sikhs will never get justice in India. If India was a democratic country with respect for human rights and the right to life, the anti-Sikh pogroms would never have been allowed to take place. If the rule of law existed and prevailed Sikhs would have been protected and received some form of justice many years ago. Independent civil liberty groups identified and named the main perpetrators and instigators in reports produced within weeks of the massacres. However, successive governments, commissions and investigations have come and gone in the last 21 years with no action to provide justice to the tens of thousands of victims of the anti-Sikh pogroms. The little hope that victims had that Manmohan Singh's government may prosecute politicians and officials that have been implicated has been totally shattered in the last 72 hours. In the last few days some of those implicated, such as, Jagdish Tytler has been forced to resign from the Cabinet and Sajjan Kumar has stepped down as Chairman of the Delhi Rural Development Board. Much is also being written about Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's public apology. However, Manmohan Singh has been Prime Minister for well over a year and yet it has taken the publication of the Nanavati Commission report and political opposition for him to realise the shame associated with the events of November 1984 and the need for him to apologise. The apology by Manmohan Singh has more to do with saving political face than a genuine desire to ensure all instigators are prosecuted. Resignations and apologies will soon be forgotten. The events of the last few days have done nothing, but fuel the complete alienation of Sikhs within India. On the 20th anniversary of the anti-Sikh pogroms British Sikhs launched a report in the UK Parliament titled: "Twenty years on - A call for action". The report recommended the following measures be taken by the international community: A UN investigation should be set up to investigate the persistent failure of successive Indian Governments to ensure the prosecution of those alleged to be responsible for to the killings and destruction. That UN initiative should require the Indian authorities to: - Take action against those responsible including proportionate criminal sanctions - Ensure that the victims (or their families) are adequately compensated and provided for Appropriate sanctions (trade and diplomatic) should be applied, both by the UN and by individual states, in case of default by the Indian authorities in relation to these UN requirements. All Governments should ensure that those reportedly responsible for these gross human rights violations are denied entry to their respective States until such time they have been subjected to the due processes of investigation and criminal proceedings. Failure to do this will encourage a sense of impunity for the perpetrators. If any such persons are found to have entered the territory of any State, consideration should be given to prosecuting those persons under applicable local and international law. Threats of violence and intimidation against those championing the rights of the victims and their families and seeking prosecution of the guilty should be roundly condemned. The international community must require India to secure the safety of human rights defenders so that justice can be done. These recommendations are even more relevant today as Sikhs who are peacefully protesting in India about the lack of action following the Nanavati Commission report are being manhandled and injured in Delhi with the use of water cannon by police. This is the same police that stood by 21 years ago as Government supported gangs and mobs burned thousands of Sikh’s alive, Sikh homes were destroyed, Sikh women were raped, and Gurdwara Sahibs and sacred scriptures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were burned. All this went on not just under the watchful eyes, but with the full blessing of some of the highest seats in Indian authority. For over two decades high-ranking members of the Congress party have continued to enjoy political impunity for this violence. For every day, and every year which passes without convictions, injustice is still being served to the broken, shattered homes of Sikhs. This is strengthening the resolve of Sikhs across the world to lobby the international community to not only take action against India and the culprits, but to campaign for the establishment of an independent sovereign Sikh State. 8. Isn't Jaswant Singh Tekhedar that twat that opposed the Sikh Federation (UK) and the Sikh youngsters at the June 2004 and 2005 rallies in Central London. He should be kicked out of the Federation of Sikh Organisations (FSO) and any others that support him.
