^^ wake up. why do you think family puts pressure on you? its cause of what's considered as "norm" in society. the fear is, "hai rabba, if we dont do it, what would peeople say"
i stand corrected.......yea ur right also goes for the alcohol and meat at weddings thing.......man it pisses me off even religious families cave into THAT one........

one thing thats great about arranged marriages is if it goes bad u can blame your parents because they arranged it ANYWAY i dont think society plays much of a role its the family who puts on the pressure.

why surrender to your parents wishes whn you know thy r wrong??
I dont know man some people give in because of guilt/family honour or something then u get those classic uphappy marrages and sometimes parents support you, thats life.

aaho..^^ wht u said.. but how many of us are like that?? and why rn't we like that ??
bibi rajni har koi ni bann sakda
people arent like that well some maybe BUT they get side tracked by thier parents who want the perfect son or daughter in law u got to remember marriage is a big family affair too.

I like that rajni story BUT seriously when it comes to marriage today yea a few put spirituality high on thier list but the vast majority only care about looks and everything else is secondary now init........yea i know its wrong BUT thats how people roll today......which is sad of course but what can you do..........forget what other people think init and choose someone who will support you in everything including ur sikhi.

"BURTONSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County police are investigating what they call a possible hate crime against two Sikh men.
The men were assaulted by a group of teenagers on Sept. 15 in Burtonsville.
The victims are a 75-year-old from Springfield, Va., and a 77-year-old from Burtonsville.
Police say the two were walking in the woods when they came across the group of 6 or seven boys, believed to be about 14 or 15. They say 2 of the teenagers punched the men in the face, causing them to fall to the ground.
Police said they have no information about the motive, but are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime."

backward thinking has alot to do with domestic violence..........alcoholism too plays a major part.........men too suffer from domestic violence but its not widely reported for obvious reason...........i guess women stay because they dont want to lose face in the community or they keep on thinking their man will change many many reason its such a complicated topic man. However, the woman in that case didnt kill herself because of violence maybe she was depressed.

So when we're at the Gurdwara Sahib, why do we bother to face Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj? Might as well turn our backs towards our King.
It's respect, pure and simple. You (hopefully) wouldn't stick your feet in front of someone's face if they were talking to you.
now THAT would be funny..............but i agree with you.

That "janak" story was really good  BUT i dont think people are THAT evolved on the inside appearances mean ALOT to people.........everybody has an idea of their perfect partner and if they meet someone who doesnt fit into that "pefect partner" model that they have in their heads they would not be interested i think........so the best thing to do i think is when you meet someone approach that person with an open mind without any prejudices and u never know what will happen.
