The restoration of the forts is part of a year-long celebration of the 350th anniversary of Anandpur Sahib, which was founded on June 19. Gurdwara Lohgarh Labh Singh has been handed over the kar sewa of Anandgarh Sahib Fort, while Dilbagh Singh and Sulakhar Singh have taken up kar sewa of Taragarh Fort. Amrik Singh and Joginder Singh Dumeliwale will restore Holgarh and Lohgarh Forts, respectively. Fort Fatehgarh Sahib will be restored by Baba Bachan Singh from Delhi. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said 15 nagar kirtan processions from different parts of the country would soon arrive in Anandpur Sahib.

According to media reports, Mohan Bhagwant on August 18 reasserted his Hindu claim saying: “Hindustan is a Hindu nation … Hindutva is the identity of our nation and it (Hinduism) can incorporate others (religions) in itself”. Last week, Bhagwat had said in Cuttack, “The cultural identity of all Indians is Hindutva and the present inhabitants of the country are descendants of this great culture.” Since the formation of Narendra Modi led BJP government in India, the RSS chief has been repeatedly asserting his “Hindu Nation” claims. In Cuttack Mohan Bhagwat had said that f inhabitants of England were English, Germany were Germans and USA were Americans, then why all inhabitants of Hindustan are not known as Hindus? Bhagwat was in Mumbai today on the occasion of Krishna Janamashtami to attend the inauguration programme of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Vishav Hindu Parishad, that was founded in Mumbai on August 29-30, 1964. He said the goal of the VHP in the coming five years would be to ensure equality among the “Hindus of the nation”. “For the next five years we have to work with the aim of bringing equality among all the Hindus in the country. All Hindus should be drinking water at one place, should be praying at one place and after their death, their bodies should be burnt at the same place,” he said. Hindutva agenda of RSS has caused major concerns among minorities residing in Indian peninsula. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar have already condemned Mohan Bhagwat’s “Hindu nation” comment. Sikh body Dal Khalsa yesterday said that it won’t let RSS to implement it’s “fascist’ agenda in Punjab. The organization urged the people of Punjab to defeat the nefarious designs of the RSS. Taking a dig at RSS for dubbing all citizens as Hindus, party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said Sikhs would not tolerate such non-sense any more. He said the RSS looks in a hurry to materialize their long dream to make India as Hindu Rashtar. “We have no objections to their dream, but one thing is clear Punjab won’t be part of Hindu rashtar”, he said while addressing the gathering of workers at local Gurdwara. He called upon people to defeat the malafide intentions of the saffron party. “Power has gone to the head of the RSS leadership as they have tasted the absolute power after a long wait. The RSS has infiltrated in the government, its power structure, bureaucracy and educational set-up to strengthen its cultural hegemony, said Kanwar Pal Singh. Dal Khalsa leader Kanwar Pal Singh addressing the meeting flayed the RSS’s supremacist ideology and slammed Shiromani Akali Dal for mortgaging the Sikh interests to Hindutva forces in lieu of cabinet berth for Badal’s Bhau in Union ministry. Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s independence day statement that communalism, regionalism and discrimination are all obstacles in our way forward, he said it’s the state that was discriminating against those people who refused to bow before the dictates of the New Delhi. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Amritsar, Punjab: Senior advocate and Aam Aadmi Party leader Harwinder Singh Phoolka has reminded Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) of its promise of formation of SIT for re opening and re investigating 237cases of 1984 Sikh genocide which were closed untraced. “The SAD(B) had fully supported this demand and on May 8th 2013 when SAD (B) president Sukhbir Singh had announced the same while breaking the fast of Nirpreet Kaur , he had stated that SAD (B) would pursue the demand of formation of SIT. In February 2014 the Kejriwal government in Delhi announced the formation of SIT. After the resignation of Kejriwal ,this SIT was first stalled by the UPA government and now it is stalled by the NDA government” Phoolka reportedly while talking to Times of India (TOI). He said NDA government was in power since May to which the SAD(B) was an alliance partner but not even a single step had been taken in securing justice for the victims and punishing the guilty. “The incident is 30 years old. Some of the victims are no longer alive and others victims are getting old. Immediate steps are required to be taken to record the statement of these witnesses” he said . He also wrote a letter to Sukhbir asking him to fulfil his promise made to the Sikhs and make the SIT operational immediately, without any further delay. He said the recent revelations of Daman Singh daughter of former Congress party’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had once again revived the wounds of Sikhs. “She had revealed that Manmohan Singh’s house was also attacked by mob in November 1984 in Ashok Vihar area of Delhi. It was Manmohan Singh’s son in law, who happens to be a Hindu, who saved the house from burning when the house was almost set on fire by the mob ” he said adding that she had also admitted that the rioters who attacked the house were known to them. Phooka said in Ashok Vihar area where Manmohan Singh’s house was located 7 Sikhs were killed, 4 Gurdwara were burnt, 5 houses were burnt, 7 shops were burnt and 42 vehicles were burnt. “It’s unfortunate that no one has been punished for all these offences and the cases were closed as untraced” he said. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Barnala, Punjab (August 15, 2014): According to information released by Sikh Organization of Prisoners Welfare one Jasvir Singh ‘Jassa’ of village Manaki in Barnala was taken from his home by Punjab police in the early hours of 13th August, under very suspicious circumstances and there has been no whereabouts of him since then. “In a move that mirrors the dark days of the 1980-90’s, the family home was surrounded by officers, who entered the house by climbing over the walls. Jasvir Singh was taken under false pretences, with claims that he wpuld simply be questioned and would return home soon”, reads a release by SOPW, an NGO working for the welfare and rehabilitation of prisoners. According to SOPW, Jasvir Singh’s family have gone from police station to police station in the local area of Barnala and nobody has claimed that they made the arrest or that they know where he is being held. The family have told us that when the police raided their house there were no local police officers or panchayat members present and when they asked for the name and number of the arresting officer the reply they got was that the “SHO summoned Jasvir Singh.” Jasvir Singh had only just returned home in the last couple of months when he was released after spending 5 years separated from his family. The Dal Khalsa, that held a a Conference on the subject of ‘Azaadi – the only way’ at Jalandhar to commemorate the organization’s 36th foundation day on 13 August, stressed that the struggle of Sikhs was aimed at finding a separate homeland. Dal Khalsa president Bhai Harchranjit Singh Dhami said that 67 years ago Hindus got their independence on 15 August while Muslims got it on 14 August. He said that the Sikh Nation missed the bus as it was not lucky enough to get its own homeland. He said that since then Sikhs had been aspiring for their sovereign self-rule. He rued the torturous and humiliating journey of the last seven decades. Another view of Azadi March held by Dal Khalsa in Jalandhar City on August 13, 2014 Giving the call to Sikhs to observe 15th August as Black Day, he said that there was no reason for Sikhs to celebrate India’s Independence Day. Rather it should be a day to pledge to reinforce our efforts to break the shackles of slavery, he added. He said that their organization was asking for the right of self-determination for the people of the state. Taking Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of Hindu extremist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, to task for stating that the cultural identity of all Indians is Hindutva, he said, Sikhs take it as an affront to their separate distinct identity. Sikhs are not Hindus and we reiterate this loud and clear. He said that ever since the Modi Sarkar was formed, RSS had got a field day to mock and tease minorities. Dal Khalsa spokesperson, Kanwar Pal Singh welcomed the statement of Member Parliament from Telangana Rastra Samiti party, K Kavitha, and condemned the registration of a case against her under sedition laws. He echoed Kavitha’s statement that Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana were both forcefully annexed to India. He praised Kavitha for showing courage to speak truth and said that the Sikhs too were cheated by the Indian leadership.

However, the hindu community blamed ALL Sikhs (without discrimination) for the death of Indira Gandhi and conducted the 2nd Sikh genocide of 1984. Sikhs have never had justice. Ask yourself why? is it because the same establishment is still in place? All those thousands of Sikhs that were raped and slaughtered, they were our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, what crimes did they commit? where is the evidence against them?
