  1. Well done to the bibiya doing this, better then most singhs who do not exercise, eat a <banned word filter activated> diet have a pop belly but still think they are yodeh. The fact it is a womens only event shows they have organised the event with respect and decency in mind, i don't see any problem with it. Will give them a chance to get healthy and also do sangat with other bibiya. We are not muslle who make our women cover up head to toe in a black cloth and keep them oppressed. Dhan Sri Guru Amar Das Ji bestowed many rights on women that backward society at the time had taken away from them, lets not make the same mistakes those fools made. We want our girls to grow into self confident women who are knowledgeable about their faith, have self respect and decency and in the future will be good mothers to the next generation of Singhs and Kaurs. We dont want girls who have been locked up their whole life and not allowed to breathe or in this case go swimming with other sikh bibya.

  2. When a teacher teaches a classroom full of children she is faced with a room full of children all at different levels of budhi and gyan. Each child will have different strengths and weaknesses, each child will have different reasons for coming to school and different ambitions of what they want to achieve as a result of their coming to school.

Similarly the house of Guru Nanak is filled with students at various levels of gyan, budhi, icha, dyaan, sharda, bharosa etc

Sikhi is not something that happens in one lifetime as manush, it is a journey that spans over many lifetimes as a manushya. If you look back at your previous janams in the house of Nanak it will probably show an evolution in your gyan, budhi, guna etc but some unfortunate souls undo their good gains because of bad karam etc it's all part of the journey.

For me a Sikh is someone who has recognised The Guru as their Guru, they may only go to the Guru to ask for worldly gains but their journey in the house of Nanak has started, it will evolve over their coming janams and more importantly with 'gurprasad'. We are born out of maya into maya, the whole world sits in the lap of maya, we eat in maya, sleep in maya and die in maya, understanding maya is very difficult, even more difficult is detaching from it, this is not possible without gurprasad.

  3. I have to agree with this thread, these babeh are a joke. What's even more mind boggling is the fact that there is actual proof that 1 of these babas a few years ago celebrated his birthday by wearing a Kalgi but has since openly lied in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by saying it was a khanda on his head and not a Kalgi!!! But the worst part is people fall for the lies when clearly anyone with functioning eye sight can clearly see in the video that he is wearing a Kalgi! If that weren't bad enough it clearly shows people bowing down to him and him accepting gold, money and other gifts. The same baba then got caught up in the lal bathi controversy as he used to drive around in a car adorned with a red light which is only granted to those who have connections to the dodgy government of panjab!

I would urge the sangat and those babas fanboys to give your hard earned money to better projects like helping the families of shaheed singhs, donate towards genuine pracharaks from taksal and other puratan sampardas. The chimte vale have conned enough money out the sangat!

  4. Yeah I was talking to many parchariks regarding state of youth here for eg gyani sher Singh was flabbergasted regarding fascism here among sikh youths.. He said aurenzebi type sharia ism sikhi has taken birth in west.. While in East sikhs regardless of differences are very understanding, tolerant and in general very happy.

Situation in uk is very disturbing, the worse thing is it's not just contained to the youth. There are people with no knowledge what so ever teaching young kids at camps etc and spreading a very narrow minded view on Sikhi. No one seems to want to stay within their limits, everyone is a Giani lol. I met most dal jathedars and baba Jagjit Singh and they said when people with limited gyan and no kamai try to lead the pack then this is what happens. Everyone wants to be a jathedar, a Giani, appear on sikh tv but truth is kamai and jeevan are lacking

  5. Eating meat because your lifestyle demands it is understandable.

Taking bhang when one is perfectly healthy & when the panth is not at war..doesn't really make much sense to me. And if it aids in mediation, then why didn't Guru Ji tell the whole panth to take it regularly? The way im looking at it is this; If something could help a Sikh in mediation of all things, then would it be mentioned & stressed upon by our Gurus?

As for using goat's blood on Guru Ji's weapons..eh i really do want to understand the logic behind this but i need some historical reference of it being acceptable. So if you know about a source dating back to Guru Ji's time talking about this practice, let me know & i'll get to my reading.

You can find and read any if the historical sources listed below:

All the historical Sikh texts such as Sri Gur Sobha by Kavi Saina Singh (1741), Gur Rattan Mala by Sahib Singh (1734), Gurbilas by Kuir Singh (1751), Bansavlinama by Kesar Singh (1769), Mehima Prakash by Saroop Singh (1776), Guru Kian Sakhian by Saroop Singh Kaushish (1790), Shaheed Bilas by Seva Singh (1803), Singh Sagar by Bir Singh Bal (1827), Sri Guru Pracheen Panth Prakash by Rattan Singh Bhangu (1841), Sri Gurpratap Suraj Prakash by Kavi Santokh Singh (1843), Gurmat Nirannya by Pandit Tara Singh Narotam (1877), and Naveen Panth Prakash by Giani Gian Singh (1878), as well as the puratan rehit namas all have references to jhatka being accepted within the Sikh code of conduct (Rehit Maryada), or the clear ban on eating flesh that has been killed according to the Muslim ritual of Halal, also known as Kutha within the Sikh community.

In response to your questions about shaheedi degh:

During puratan times the fauj had no pain killers or morphine etc and not all singhs became shaheed, some had arms chopped etc but still survived. There were no hospitals or medicine, all the fauj had with them for use as first aid supplies was haldi, mustard oil, salt, neem and bhang. Bhang was grinded up and used as a pain killer hence it being referred to as 'sukhnidhan'. When the bhang is grinded up other things like black pepper, almonds, cardamom, cus cus and sweet crystals or sugar are also added. This mixture is very high in protein and the black pepper wards of general illness like colds & flu. Bhang is known to have a meditative effect when consumed so an added bonus if u like was after being so good to consume for physical reasons it also aided with your spiritual practice.

These days when people get ill they go to the doctor for all sorts, get pain killers, injections for various health problems, most medicine contains alcohol but sikhs still consume it?! Now how is that different to nihangs consuming shaheedi degh as a medinine with added side effects of aiding in meditation? Is that not a better side effect then the ones caused by western medicine?

The nihangs I met in India are generally very healthy and do do suffer from problems like high blood pressure or diabetes which so many people suffer from these days. They also live to quite an old age whilst being fully physical able and put this all down to the consumption of shaheedi degh. If u ever in panjab or hazoor sahib I recommend you spend some time with them, u will realise they are not as bad as everyone thinks they are and their lifestyle has a lot of logic behind it.

  6. I agree bro, I didn't mention anything regarding mahaprashad being tamogun.. above was general statement regarding two extreme. I agree extreme tamoguni would be aghoris and extreme satoguni would be jains.. Jains make vaishnu bhramins look like murders lol... There is always a future fanatic nut bar out there somewhere from both sides make current fanatic from their ghetto look kacha pilla dhilla and put them out of their business to take over. Both extremes are wrong.

This fanaticism on both sides is wrong and very damaging to the panth but I must say that from all the real nihangs I met in India they are very respectful of sato gun aradhnah path and likewise singhs from taksal accepted Nihang Singh practice of jhatka and degh. The problem is in the west. Unknowledgeable jatha fanatics and wana be nihangs and taksalis fighting over what they consume just to feed this temporary body we are living in, it's sad state of affairs.

  7. VJKKVJKF. does anybody have katha on chandi, jatka , maha parshad and shaheedi degh ? or other puratan traditions by mahapurakh or uchi avasta singhs such as giani thakur singh jee....

be it taksali , nihang or whatever point of view...

lets get gyan of these amazing mahapurakh on these topics , as we are dirt and know nothing.

    posts the links pleas babeyo!

p.s the video of baba nihal singh jee on shaheedi degh is very old... he doesn't shak shaheedi degh anymore nor tells anybody too

    akaal

Veere listen to Asa di vaar viakhiya part 25 by Giani thakur Singh ji. He talks about jhatka. You can listen to it on http://www.gurmatveechar.com/audio

Here is a translation of what Giani ji says:

"Nihang Singhs eat Jhatka meat because of their traditions. The Guru allowed this tradition of Jhatka to be practised within his army and by his soldiers; it was not for civilians to eat. Maharaj said to them that if need be you may Jhatka an animal and eat it, not just goats or chickens but any animal you may find in the jungle. The Nihang Singhs of today still follow this tradition. When performing Jhatka on a goat, first the goat is bathed, then Japji Sahib and Chandi Di // are read. One Singh stands by the head of the goat and upon the final lines of Chandi Di // being read, Those who sing this divine ballad will be liberated from the realm of life and death, at this moment the goat is decapitated with one blow and the soul of the goat is liberated. The goat itself lowers its head to receive salvation. (Giani Thakur Singh, Asa Di // Viakhya Part 25)

  8. Yes there are many paths that lead to akal purakh. But im talking about the path laid out in Sikhi. So with that in mind, how exactly does those practices help me reach akal purakh? And for arguments sake, consider me a murakh who knows nothing about these matters.

Im gonna ignore your next paragraph since i got nothing against people eating meat when they need to.

A veragi teagi Bhagat will lead a life of complete detachment and eat very simple and live very simply as this will be beneficial to his way of life and path of bhagti.

A ghristi jeeve will live his life as a householder and be required to pay attention to his wordly affairs whilst doing whatever bhagti he does. His bhagti may take on the form of visiting gurdwara, basic nitnem and lots of pun dhaan but it's his path.

A warrior who worships Akal Purekh through his sargun shakti whilst being knowledgeable about gods nirgun form will carry out shaster pooja, perfect his knowledge and use of weapons. As nihangs could lead a nomadic lifestyle that is physically very demanding and will consume shaheedi degh as part of that lifestyle as a medicine, aid in meditation and for general up keep of maryada. He will perform jhatka to anoint his weapons, to practice his martial skill and consume the meat to keep his body physically fit and robust for his nomadic lifestyle.... All of this is his bhagti. Reaching god does not mean sitting crossed leg in a room, he can be experienced & worshipped in all of the above and countless other ways.

The vastness of Sikhi is what gives it beauty and balance

  9. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Forget the chicken, jhatka this one:

    http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/72982-visiting-sikh-priest-received-90-days-in-jail-for-sex-assault/

Look, put the whole complex, deep, big-worded, mystical arguments aside and look at this a bit practically:

With all of the corrupt "Sikh" politicians and genocidal Punjab Police officers, it really does not make sense to kill a chicken - its not like there is a lack of targets to practice on. With all of the jhatka going on to prove warrior status and infuse Shakti etc. etc., you would think that the Indian government would be shaking in their boots from the Nihungs doing jhatka on every Panthic enemy that dares to do anything against the Panth. Sadly, I haven't seen any Nihungs in a crusade to rid the Panth of such enemies.

If exceptions are made for Nihungs due to their being warriors and Guru Da Ladli Fauj, do they not have a responsibility to act upon their special status in the Panth? If Taksal is teaching Santhiya, Paath, Keertan, Nanaksar is teaching utmost devotion and seva to Guru Sahib, AKJ is going Keertan seva - Nihungs are doing what exactly? If the role based model of Sikhi, where each Jathebandi has a role is to be accepted, are the Nihung Singhs actually serving their purpose? Jhatka is not supposed to be a way to get Bibek KFC or Mahaparshad - if everything that is used to defend jhatka is to be believed, the Nihungs would be an indomitable force that would fight to the last breath and body to liberate the Panth from its enemies - where are the Youtube videos of that? I don't see any Nihung brothers and sisters out there in force (not talking about individuals - entire Nihung regiments) waging Dharm Yudh against the enemies of the Panth.

If you want to do Jhakta and claim this is the warrior's path - should there not be a warrior's output from those belonging to Nihung jathebandis? It's like signing onto a nation's army, performing all of the training, and then when a foreign nation's army attacks you, so sit there stabbing target dummies and polishing/oiling their guns.

    Something don't add up.

The 'panth' your talking about forsake the nihangs and long ago turned their backs on the nihangs. When the 'panth' thought everything was hunky dorey with the formation of SGPC and Singh Sabha no one gave a second thought about nihangs. The 'panth' thought their future was secure and that bad times or war would not be faced by the 'panth' so what need is there for nihangs?! The 'panth' had their new committees and leaders, who gave the nihangs a second thought?

The nihangs who were once allowed to take whatever maya they needed from any gurdwara for their day to day running were no forced out to the outskirts of the 'panth' unable to financially keep good horses or keep good up to date weapons. They were thrown out of gurdware where they once resided and at some places even refused langar. When the British in panjab employed a shoot on site policy for nihangs what did the 'panth' do?! When the nihangs all left panjab and went into exile at hazoor sahib or hid away living in jungles what did the 'panth' do?! The nihangs who were once feared by all, the nihangs who used to use the money from gurus golak to keep the best horses and best weapons and protect all were now replaced by corrupt sell outs who only intended on stealing from the gurus golak then what did the panth do?!

Fast forward in time and people ask why don't the nihangs do anything? Why don't they help the 'panth'?

You don't see nihangs getting their dastars removed or getting hassled by anyone do you?

The time WILL come when 96krore Khalsa fauj will take part in Dharam Yudh..... Not for the 'panth' but for Dharam.

Every bachan that mahraj has said about his fauj will become partak, just like the bachans about fake singhs in the 'panth' are becoming partak.....

  10. This is a quote I read from a book

" You Know you have found GOD when you observe that you will not murder ( that is willfully kill without cause). For while you will understand that you cannot end another's life in any event ( all life in eternal ) , you will not choose to terminate any particular incarnation, nor change any life energy from one form to another, without the most sacred justification. Your new reverence for life will cause you to honor all life forms- including plants, trees and animals-and to impact them only when it is for the highest good"

Might as well become a Jain then and tie up your mouth so you don't kill any bacteria and carry a broom and fixate your eyes to the floor so you don't kill any insects. Stop eating plants as they are described in bani as life forms and also proven by science to have life.

  11. Everyone should read the following shabad completely, do vichaar & then make a logical decision

    First Mehl:

The fools argue about flesh and meat, but they know nothing about meditation and spiritual wisdom.

What is called meat, and what is called green vegetables? What leads to sin?

It was the habit of the gods to kill the rhinoceros, and make a feast of the burnt offering.

Those who renounce meat, and hold their noses when sitting near it, devour men at night.

They practice hypocrisy, and make a show before other people, but they do not understand anything about meditation or spiritual wisdom.

O Nanak, what can be said to the blind people? They cannot answer, or even understand what is said.

They alone are blind, who act blindly. They have no eyes in their hearts.

They are produced from the blood of their mothers and fathers, but they do not eat fish or meat.

But when men and women meet in the night, they come together in the flesh.

In the flesh we are conceived, and in the flesh we are born; we are vessels of flesh.

You know nothing of spiritual wisdom and meditation, even though you call yourself clever, O religious scholar.

O master, you believe that flesh on the outside is bad, but the flesh of those in your own home is good.

All beings and creatures are flesh; the soul has taken up its home in the flesh.

They eat the uneatable; they reject and abandon what they could eat. They have a teacher who is blind.

In the flesh we are conceived, and in the flesh we are born; we are vessels of flesh.

You know nothing of spiritual wisdom and meditation, even though you call yourself clever, O religious scholar.

Meat is allowed in the Puraanas, meat is allowed in the Bible and the Koran. Throughout the four ages, meat has been used.

It is featured in sacred feasts and marriage festivities; meat is used in them.

Women, men, kings and emperors originate from meat.

If you see them going to hell, then do not accept charitable gifts from them.

The giver goes to hell, while the receiver goes to heaven - look at this injustice.

You do not understand your own self, but you preach to other people. O Pandit, you are very wise indeed.

O Pandit, you do not know where meat originated.

Corn, sugar cane and cotton are produced from water. The three worlds came from water.

Water says, "I am good in many ways." But water takes many forms.

Forsaking these delicacies, one becomes a true Sannyaasee, a detached hermit. Nanak reflects and speaks. ||2||

  12. Well, if by Dal Panth you mean the UK Nangs, then yeah. But my knowledge of this subject comes from my interaction with Nihangs and Taksali Singhs in India who say Babeki food can only be considered Babeki if it is cooked by Tyar Bar Tyar Khalsa. Cooked food(by a non Sikh) done Kirpan Bhet wouldn't pass as Babeki food by Nihangs. The Niddarites are a different story who kirpan bhet their KFC chicken legs and think they are eating Babeki food.

I'm not Babeki myself. In this regard I will admit that I am weak. But because of my weakness I'm not going to project my weakness on Guru's noble rehit which has very high standards.

So langar we get in gurdwaras is not bibeki then because most of the time it's prepared by non-amritdhari sikhs?

In dal panth the maryada for preparing langar is very strict. Only tyar bar tyar naam abyhasi singhs who have gurbani kunt can do langar seva. No outsider and definitely no non-amritdhari is allowed in the vicinity of where the langar is being prepared, they are not even allowed to wash the sarb loh dishes. However they are allowed to eat as much as they like in the langer lol

  13. Mahakal Singh ji ,

what i meant was they eat maha prashad after getting initiated ,

nihangs jhatka goats and make mahaparshad for newjoinees i think. :) (please correct if wrong)

also , when some one vaishnavi badai khalsa . were to join tat khalsa back .

then they were first given mahaparshaad before joining

Jhatka is always performed at jorh mele and this is usually when the dals hold Amrit sanchars but it is not compulsory for new singhs to have to eat mahaprashad and it definitely is not a part of any initiation and new singhs defiantly DO NOT have to jhatka a chicken, don't know where people get this rubbish from! There is a very high percentage of nihangs who do not eat meat, it's optional. Chakarvati Singhs eat mahaprashad on a regular basis because of their lifestyle which western singhs living in comfortable homes with heating, hot water and nice comfy beds will not understand.

Yes you are right, when there was a split between tat Khalsa and bandai Khalsa then once mahraj had shown tat Khalsa to be the true singhs the bandai Khalsa lot who repented and wanted to join tat Khalsa were made to partake mahaprashad as this was one of the main reasons for the split between the two.

  14. WaheguruJiKaKhalsa!!WaheguruJiKiFateh!!

Yes Bhenji , its normal initiation ceremony

its just you thinking this way. please read the following book.

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/100583067/Jhatka-Parkash

Savinderpalsingh how is jhatkaing a chicken a part of initiation for nihangs?

What dal has this initiation? I must have missed something!

Better still, what Dal do you belong too who made you Jhatka a chicken as a part of an initiation for becoming a Nihang?!! I would like to talk to the jathedar of that Dal.

Bhenji the only initiation a Nihang goes through is being blessed with Khanda da Amrit administered by the panj pyare in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji.

In respects to the tradition and maryada of Jhatka then yes this is a part of Akali Nihang Singh maryada, read what savinderpalsingh copied from nihangsingh.org to learn its history.

  15. People need to read Dasam Granth before making absurd posts.

    Guru sahib writes

He is Limitless Entity and hath infinite celestial strain.

The goddess Durga takes refuge at His Feet and abides there.

    Dasam Granth sahib

Posting two pangtia from Sri Dasam Granth does not constitute 'reading Dasam granth' but I understand the point you trying to make.

This is a very complex subject that can not be put into a box or defined by two pangtia read in isolation. Sikhi is wide spectrum, complex, not something that can be defined as black and white, right and wrong, left and right. People with that mind set are better of following Islam or Christianity. Sikhi is beyond boundaries and limits, just like parmeshvar.

Complete vichaar on adh bani and Dasam bani is needed to understand 'overall' gurmat stance on adh shakti, this can not be achieved by just reading two pangtia.

  16. As per my understanding when Sri Akal Purekh was obsorbed in himself and self contemplation and there was nothing else he had the itcha (wish) to become many from 'one' (iq). It was this itcha that gave birth to adh-shakti (primal energy). It was his adh-shakti that would bring forth his many sargun forms out of his nirgun constant state. Sri adh-shakti then gave birth or took on three forms (which ever way you want to look at it) to tre-gun (three attributes) of maya (form of Sri-Adh Shakti). These tre-gun represent themselves and exist in sargun saroop as the 'tin chela', brahma (creative - rajo gun), Visnu (preserver - sato gun) and shiva (destroyer - tamo gun). Even these tin chela are powerless and useless without adh-shakti, the primal energy of adh Purekh nirankar Sri Waheguru.

The khanda, Chandi, baguati are given upmost respect by mahraj because they are physical (sargun) embodiment of Sri Adh-Shakti. The universe has a beautiful natural but deliberate balance too it, male-female, dark-light, etc so as he is described as the ultimate male energy we as the creation out of adh shakti and the rest of maya are his female counter balance.

Yes adh shakti is divine female energy and should be worshipped respected to the highest level but to say mahraj was solely a worshiper of adh shakti is narrow minded and incomplete. Also the right wing and left wing uneducated average joey from the pind mentality who reject this reality about importance of adh shakti because their brain can only cope with imaging a man with a white beard as being god are equally if not more foolish.

  17. I agree that sikh channel should be audited by Sri Akal Takht Sahib or an independant body to make sure there are no irregularities going on with the sangats donations. We should not place BLIND FAITH in them just because they are called 'sikh' channel and operated by 'Sikhs'. When Guru Gobind Singh Ji were travelling to Decan accompanied by sangat and the Akali Nihang Singh fauj, mahraj stopped & bowed his head towards the grave of a Muslim Saint. When the sangat asked why he had done this mahraj replied that he was bowing to the grave of a Muslim Saint, without any further questions or giving it a second thought, those with BLIND FAITH turned thier backs to mahraj and ran off towards the grave, racing, pushing each other to be the first one to reach the grave so they could do mahta tek to the grave. All those with blind faith were now doing mahta tek to a Muslim grave.

Mahraj stood at a distant and observed his sikhs bowing to a Muslim grave but saw the Akali Nihang Singh fauj had not moved an inch, they hadn't even bothered to get down off their horses. Mahraj could see that his fauj was not pleased & soon enough the Singhs expressed their displeasure at what mahraj had done. They refused to bow to the Muslims grave saying that mahraj had instructed them to always only bow thier heads to Akal Purekh Wahegure and their Guru who was the sargun form of Akal Purekh Waheguru. The Singhs then said that mahraj had violated his own maryada and that they were going to put a thankah (fine/punishment) on mahraj. When mahraj heard this they accepted the hukam from the singhs without hesitation or protest. The Singhs then placed a fine on mahraj which he happily paid.

Mahraj then declared that he was very pleased with his fauj and had a look of immense happiness on his face & was in a very joyous mood. He then declared to the whole sangat that he had done this as a test to see who the real Khalse were, who had listened too his bachans and actually acted upon them and made them a part of thier actual being. He declared his fauj as being his very own image and those deserving of being called 'The Khalsa'.

The ones with 'BLIND FAITH' stood with long faces.

Blind faith is not always a bad thing, it is however not the way of the Khalsa.

    Fateh

  18. When an animal is relentlessly pursued and cornered it can either submit or fight back. Animals are animals and choose to fight back and what's what appears to be the response of those behind the beadbhi and those supporting them.

To run through what has happened -

1)The Guru Nanak Darbar Committee is the organisation (with a warehouse owner) behind the collection/ beadbhi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Saroops dating back many years (they were previously warned and they agreed not to do this in future).

2)Recently, the issue has been discovered to be re-occurring at a warehouse with the involvement of Guru Nanak Darbar Committee. Once caught out, the warehouse owner did not hesitate in naming his conspirators.

3)The Sangat went to Guru Nanak Darbar and found a collection of Saroops. Various Gurdwara personnel were clearly under the impression that the Saroops were biirdh, however after checking the Saroops agreed they could be repaired and were not biirdh.

4)The Afgan community stepped in to resolve the issue peacefully in order to avoid further conflict.

5)A meeting was held at Guru Nanak Darbar where a group of Sikhs & Sikh channel CEO agreed that a beadbhi had taken place, would not re-occur and an Akhand Path and Ardas at an agreed time would end the matter.

6)The Akhand Path and Ardas never took place.

Throughout, the Guru Nanak Darbar committee have refused to make a statement or answer questions in public. The committee can continue to be silent and further damage inter-community respect or take responsible actions.

The failure of Sikh elders to take responsible actions is not going to damage individual committee members as much as the Sangat of Guru Nanak Darbar. It's also becoming apparent that people within the gurdwara have a lot more to say.

So, will the Guru Nanak Darbar committee respond? or will they allow the Sikh youth to decide what to do next because so called Sikh elders and media are unable to deal with this as adults?

I think it is a waste of time asking these dusht to take part in an Akand path & ardas for forgiveness. They were intending on burning 22 saroops of Mahraj with no hesitation so what makes you think they have any respect towards an Akand path?

Best thing sangat can do is remain vigilant and get these masands out of the gurdwara somehow.
