  1. i told you about my father's opinion.. "He says business man's son should marry a business man's daughter then he gives me some examples of those families where sikhi bloomed more when someone non sikh girl came to sikhi .... .. if i look around myself non sikh girls married keshdhari guys are giving a good example of how a sikh woman should be ...but when it comes to me i still doubt.. and say No.. I would not.. My opinion is marry a woman who embraces sikhi .. does not matter to me if her background is not a sikh background....another thing i will be baptizing soon .. so obviously i don't want any beadbi at the time of marriage ..bcz i got it later being Gursikh you should marry a gursikh only...... and the questions? I really don't like to raise against our Gurus....

Duniya vale Dad has his opinions that meet with his ideas of how the world works , but Guru Pita has given us the whole perspective for this world and the next . Given what I know about my situation I would have made sure that we were both full on gursikhs before Anand Karaj as it would have saved on so many instances of outside interference by inlaws and helped produce a united front to the outside world. To get married a lot of girls and boys say a lot of things they don't really feel deeply in their heart

  2. i am not saying anything against you neither against your hubby .. even i am happy to see you brought someone to the rich heritage of sikhi unlike other sikh girls who seem to be desperate to marry non sikhs for their personal happiness .. i m just trying to ask ,was not that beadbi if you being amritdhari u married a guy who is not amritdhari? bcz i read your posts .. i feel you knew/know everything what is beadbi or what is not beadbi....but still u could not follow your own rehit properly... ...

    Veer ji,

I waited , I broke up with him even on the say so of my parents, I told him I would never love him as much as my Guru, I laid it all out ,but his love of what made me ,me i.e. my sikhi was too strong. He approached my parents to ask for my hand and they laid down conditions, my Dad even consulted with Chardikala singhs in India , sant da bachan was my husband will becoe a gursikh thus I did have Anand Karaj and that was the only ceremony we had apart from civil wedding in Gurdwara Sahib same day, it was , is and will always be honoured by us both. Even so, I was so fearful of the possible beadbhi but we both gave our solemn promises to live our lives gurmat anusar and raise Gursikh children and we have never wavered from that , the guruvak from the wedding was " bure bhale hum thare" and that is how we feel . I know I am guilty of many things but I live in the hope that I can regain Guru ji's favour

  3. but as u said above somewhere gursikh should marry only gursikh... so wasn't that beadbi? I m askin this bcz my father often sends me Gujrati rishte where Girls seem to be interested in marrying with sardar but my heart does not allow me to accept those girls bcz i find it beadbi if i have to go through anand karaz...

    Veer ji

I'm not being funny but they are all Hindu girls aren't there enough good sikh girls out there to choose from ? It's different if you said you wanted to be in a full on gursikh marriage to them and they agreed to become that but my own feeling is they wouldn't , but expect you to go through their rituals and culture , my friends (other mothers in neighbourhood) have done this and they are Gujrati married in Sikh households.

  4. but as u said above somewhere gursikh should marry only gursikh... so wasn't that beadbi? OK in my life something happened beyond my control which made me due for pesh ... so I wasn't doing beadbhi as I did ardas for resolution one way or the other and waited two years before Anand Karaj I entered Anand Karaj with full intention to live as a GurSikh, but as my husband hasn't got there yet I support him and my kids in their journey and do my best to progress also ,my faith in Guru ji is complete and I KNOW that special time will come in our lives soon.

  5. Are your in-laws non-Sikhs? Not judging you if they are or aren't, I just don't understand this particular Hukam, even if they're born into a Sikh familiy are they Sikh? No, a Sikh is by practice not by words or blood.

if we take hukam that without pahul/rehit binaa na sikh kaheva then most people have non-sikh inlaws/parents you cannot be sikh by just being born into a sikh household ...you have to make the step towards Guru ji yourself by give sir da bheta and taking pahul ...and living the life of a Gursikh ...

Salok in Japji Sahib gives you balance in terms of viewing others ... Karmi apo apnee , ke nehrde ke door... even in Guru ji's ghar there are examples of that ...

My inlaws are not of our culture, country or dharam but I don't hold it against them , I just stick to my lifestyle and asool in line with gurmat my household is a gursikh one. funny thing is they are getting exposure to gurbani from other quarters too , my bro in law came to me to ask the meaning of something ...the mool mantar ...apparently his yoga teacher in Brasil is using mool manter as a meditation before session . My cousins in law have been to the gurdwara in Sao Paulo.

  6. Massacres and genocide only happen if people in power organize them . I hope India learns what a democratic process is from this vote, all done in a nonviolent way. The Kashmir region has a UN mandate for a vote on Independence that India refuses to honour. The Kashmiris reminded India of this and told them to look at the Scottish process.

There are questions about the handling of the referendum count by the Russians and others as the goings on were not up to standards set by observing bodies ... I wouldn't put it past the Government to mess about ...as the tories have done questionable things in the past , manipulating postal votes, jerrymandering - it would serve their needs and the vote was so close .

India doesn't want to learn ...they want to destroy and assimilate everyone thinking or behaving different to their ideology. I mean they are bullying and beating people who even suggest to help those in strife in Jammu and Kashmir ...there is no humanity there

  7. India's Sikh cagers opt for haircut as Turban won't be an issue at Asiad

NAGPUR: The International Basketball Federation's (Fiba) announcement to allow players to wear religious headgear may have come a little too late for Amritpal and Amjyot Singh. The Sikh players, who were asked by organizers to remove their turbans before their opening match at the Asia Cup Basketball Championship in Wuhan (China) in July, chose to cut their hair prior to boarding the flight to Incheon for the Asian Games on Wednesday.

It is reliably learnt that both players will continue to wear their turbans, but now won't be needing patkas during their matches. The duo chose to avoid questions on why they opted for a haircut, but was relieved with Fiba's decision to allow religious headgear.

"I woke up this morning and was pleasantly surprised with the news that Fiba has reversed the turban ban. I am grateful for the support from all quarters," Amritpal said. "We have been saved from any future humiliation," Amjyot added.

Top sources in the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), however, confirmed the development and said they took the decision to shed their hairs on their own and turban won't be an issue at Asiad.

With no exposure trips before the all important event, a confident Indian contingent boarded the flight to Korea on Wednesday night.

  8. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Yeah...everyone wait for XXX Singh/Kaur or YYY Avtar to come and save them.

First, if any Gursikh came back to the world/from hiding/alternate dimension/Costco/Kmart/Tesco's (Sant Baba Maha Harnam Singh Ji/Sant Jarnail Singh Ji included and for examples), can you imagine the conversation. Let's pretend the Sikh is surrounded by other Sikhs in the below conversation.

Sikh: Baba Ji, you have returned to us!! (Sikhs look on with wide smiles and hopes in their hearts).

Baba Ji: Yes, Gursikho - by the Hukam of Akaal Purakh, I have returned.

Sikh: BOLE SO NIHAAL!!! LEAD US TO SACHKHAND AND ESTABLISH KHALSA RAAJ!!! (Other Sikhs join in on Jakara).

Baba Ji: Uhhh...ok...(puzzled at the enthusiasm) Gurmukho, how have you maintained your Sikhi? Have you kept Rehat? Are you getting up at Amritvela? Do you do Simran/Nitnem/seva? How about the other Sikhs around you?

Sikh: (Sikhs nervously look around at each other)...BABA JI...SAVE US!! WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR RETURN!!

Baba Ji: Answer the question! What have you been doing since I was not here? Have you done Sehaj Paath? Something?

Sikh: (Sikhs lower their gaze to the ground) No Ji. We awaited your return and now that you are here (hopeful looks return), EVERYTHING IS FIXED. BOLE SO...

    .

Baba Ji: (Interrupts Jakara). So...you haven't done ANYTHING since I left?

Sikh: Well...I mean we went to Gurudwara, had langar and talked about your arrival...(Sikhs murmur to each other).

Baba Ji: So...you don't get up at Amritvela, don't keep Rehat and don't do any Paath/Seva?

Sikh: ...well...no...I mean I personally try to get up at Amritvela and fall asleep, I do Nitnem when I do get up and I go to Nagar Keertans...(more murmurings and general agreement with the Sikh's statement).

Baba Ji: ??? So instead of following the Hukam of the Punj Pyare and Gurbani, which tell you to be a better Sikh and improving your own lives, you...waited for MY ARRIVAL??? YOU HAVE THE EVER PRESENT ETERNAL GURU THIS ENTIRE TIME!!! WHAT AM I COMPARED TO GURU SAHIB??? YOU HAVE ALL TEN GURUS PRESENT WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES AND YOU ARE DEPENDING ON HIS POOR SIKH TO LEAD YOU TO SACHKHAND AND KHALSA RAAJ?

Sikh: ...but Baba Ji...you have returned...so and so Bhai Sahib said you would come back...

Baba Ji: Oh Gursikha - the Guru is the same, the Punj Pyare are the same, the Sun is the same, the moon is the same, but how the Sikh has changed. Where the true Gursikhs would rely upon the Guru and maintain the Rehat given to them by the Punj Pyare, there are now many who would forsake all of that and wait for another to arrive and fix everything. Guru Kirpa Karan...

<Awkward silence follows. Baba Ji goes off doing Mool Mantar Jaap and gets ready to do evening Nitnem.>

Words of Sant Hardev Singh (Loolo Vale): Sangat Ji, we talk of Bhai Suthra, who had Darshan of 4 Guru Sahiban. We talk of Baba Buddha, who had Darshan of 6 Guru Sahiban. But how unlucky are we that we have the Darshan of ALL TEN Guru Sahiban here in the Gurudwara and we do not understand it.

Sikhi was meant to take the lowest of the low and make them highest of the high, to where the Guru gave his very image to his Sikhs and praised them through his own compositions. Don't rely on others to do what you yourself have to do.

    AGREED

Guru ji didn't just leave hints how to make khalsa raj he gave Us three granths to make it so , and told us to do our works ourselves...so every1 is a warrior and a saint and the saviour of this world. GURU PANTH and GURU GRANTH make POORA GURU = AKAL PURAKH

  9. "Do not given a daughter's hand to a clean shaven. Give her hand in a house where God's Sikhi exists, where the household is not in debt, is of a good nature, is disciplined and knowledgeable." Hukam 38 of 52. It is true that Nihangs did intermarry with Muslim and Hindu women during their Chackarvarti(not sure if its still true). I also think that we have to ackwoledge that men and women despite being equal are just not the same. I really wanted to know these points because it (Hukam) says daughter and not son. Please someone explain it to me(only after reading the Hukam) and tell me if it has 2 sides.

Guru Pita would only sanction Anand Karaj for gursikhs and only they can have anand karaj not anyone else ...so if Nihangs would marry it would be within rehit . Hindu bibis would have pahul and become gursikhs , if muslim bibis (never heard of this but possible) same .

If you have Gursikh daughter why on Earth would you give her in marriage to those who do not keep the rehit ? and would also prevent her from being a gursikh in the fullest and possibly force her to make her children other than Gursikhs? A man should not marry out either , if he does he runs the risk of his progeny becoming nastik, or agnoist or even another faith.

A mother is primary caregiver of a child and spends an extraordinary amount of time around her children colouring their worldview , if she is a good Gursikh then it is a positive for the future generations but if she has opposing views or is maya-driven the kids will suffer for it.The Hukam is explicit for females because at the time sikh people were in transition from families /clans of different faiths so may be tempted to appease elders by marrying daughters to people who were not Gursikhs (keeping them out of the crosshairs of the mughals). Today it is still important look for strong moral sikh character in your life partner if you want good, upstanding gursikhs in the future.

  10. This is actually false. For about 300 years Christians were prosecuted and killed until emporor Constantine became a Christian himself but before that the Christians were being killed left right and centre.

And what exactly did these Christians do after the Romans relented, they allowed their granth and dharam to be violated with pagan beliefs and propagation of idol worship and then they started doing things the roman way i.e. put people to the sword and conversion....the oppressed became the oppressors again the Jews have done the same

  11. penji i heard in katha from a very good giani ji i forgot, he is a credible source

that it was a huge tent , very costly

Think about it logically ...crowds of 80,000 and a big tent ...where would people be inspired ...why would people run away unless something scary happened , these are war-hardened people , standard response of Indians are to stand and stare (hard). I believe Guru ji took those heads and I believe he made the khalsa whole again in full view else why would the mohameddan spies report the same , no goats , no other room/hidden goings on ... Akal Purakh ne Khalsa sajjeiya apne hathi and that is what changed those hearts who were full of fear and hatred of Gursikhs. Aj kal school in UK thrown scorn on Panj piarey's bheta by saying it was just a trick that goats were sacrificed , my sons were livid hearing this and argued with the RE teacher ...who was an atheist anyways...My Guru ji is not a charlatan, trickster or liar he is Akal Purakh with all the cosmos in its control .

  12. Thanks jkvlondon much appreciated.

No Problem , Veer/Bhaine ji just remember when someone pushes their agenda on you 1. what's in it for them 2. what's in it for them 3. what's in it for them .... in the case of palmistry /birthchart peeps they can control you and extort money.

  13. This is the reason why I have the opinion that Sikhi isn't merely a religion, its way more than just that. It started as a revolution by Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj and was completed as a challenge by Dasmesh Pita Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. The reason our numbers are so small is because the number of people who can come forward and accept a challenge is usually pretty small. In 1699 it was 5 out of 80,000.

Then 35,000 woke up that day including Mughal spies who saw the whole thing and became khalsa ...in his last report there was NO tent. btw for the doubters

  14. u shud read how zoroastrians (parsis) were expelled from iran, and iran itself was FORCEFULLY conquered TWICE, 1st by arab sunnis, the by shias. South america was conquered and converted by portugese/spanish into christians, hence the old aztecs and the inca people r sumink u read in books now, not people u can meet. If maharaja ranjit singh/sikh misls/banda singh bahadur had done wat all other religious rulers done during their stints as sikh rulers, and converted every1 with the populations, then not 1 single hindu/muslim wud of been seen in 2014 north of delhi and east of the khyber pass & west of tibet! sometimes wen i see sikhs in s.asia as a lost power, it makes me at times, wish ranjit n co. did do it, but that wudnt b the sikhi/gurus way!

that was not done by mughals, that was the afghans (nadir shah/abdali), they were hated by mughals.

I was saying the numbers of sikhs by the end of mughal era were 120,000...samaje bus itne seegee gal

  15. But we've been more severely persecuted at the hands of the hindus!

that's not true in the time of the mughals the sikh population was approx 120,000 in Vadda and chotta ghalugharey the Khalsa population was reduced by 70% remember that is men women and children. We are more than 15 million in India and estimates are around quarter to half million sikhs were killed during the eighties and nineties we can see it is not as drastic but it feels worse because there are so few khalsey at the starting point (5-10% estimates of total sikhs) and those who were killed were predominately amritdhari/keshadhri sikhs

  16. For people like me living in the UK its a good thing that's happened.

Unity is very powerful. Just look at the Jewish community to see what can be achieved with it. Alternatively, at this point in time, look at us (Nanak Naam Leva Sikhs) we haven't got unity and we're being attacked and torn internally and externally on all fronts!

we have lost the bibek budhi that Guru ji blessed us with , that's why we trust people who we would normally know not to , listen to advice from people who know zilch about being a sikh and fail to recognise our true sikh family members. Not every sikh will look the same every dastaar is tied by a different soul , but the longing for nam and His kirpa is the same in every heart. I would not use the Jewish community as a exemplar , they are diminishing in numbers, they also have internal rifts but are very good at hiding it . Be glad who you are Waheguru doesn't make mistakes
