  1. I agree about Khaliban term being banned on this forum. But the point I'm making is, the people who use the term Khaliban for Panthic Sikhs of today who they say are intolerant just because they don't tolerate Beadbi and Besti of Guru Granth and Guru Panth, but when the same has been done by Nihangs, Nirmalas and Udasins who took this Khaliban behavior to the next level that even modern Panthic Singhs cannot even touch, then they should not use terms like Khaliban. In fact name calling of any kind should not be allowed on Sikh Sangat because it ruins the brotherly atmosphere of this site.

I know brother they want us to lie down and die quietly while they steal from us , tell us our Gurus were the lowest criminals thats why they died , they want steal our children's futures and self-confidence ... the English knew that Dasam Granth is were our strength lies thats why they tried to reduce our nitnem from 5 to two to create kinthu pranthu over Dasam Granths legitimacy... and we are still fool enough to fall for all that .

My wish is that EVERY gurudwara worldwide start putting jor onto Dasam bani , doing Jaap sahib japs , Chaupai japs, even Chandi di // japs, camps to teach/ do katha

vichar on Dasam Bani. We need fauladi sikhs to become Khalsa ...

  2. Channel your efforts into learning proper raad vidiya and traditional puraatan instruments that existid in the court of Guru Hargobind Maharaj... You do know that the Vaaja is not a atraditional Sikhi/Kirtan or even Indian instrument it's origins are the "european harmonium" it was introdiced by the British during times of the Raj to make Kirtan sound closer to church organ music.

Yet another one of the long list of lost/changed/perverted Sikhi traditions. If you really want to learn proper Kirtan first learn real classical music and raag vidiya then learn Sarangi, Rabaab, Dilruba, Saranda etc etc.

    Veer ji

Bhaine ji is just getting started , I was starting to put her in touch with raag vidiya through vocal side then was going to share some resources to learn those tanti saaz .. however most vidya for raag kirtan is on vaaja .

I mean you can learn the raags but normally vids are mostly demoed on vaaja, even panthnrattan bhai Avtar Singh ji Hazoori raagi spent a long time using vaaja despite his family's background going back to Guru Har Gobind ji's time .

Jawaadi Taksal have a channel on youtube teaching raag they have made good efforts to keep Gurmat Sangeet alive

I would also use Bhai Avtar SIngh ji's books to study raag . I did find a gora teaching dilruba step by step videos I'm gonna try to locate his name again. Problem with Tanti saaz as taught in Gurudwara is the cost ... the instruments are in the hundreds as is the tutition ... shame that those who say they would love a revival (raj academy) love their paise that little bit more .

  3. I used to think it was Khalistanis too. But they have informed me it means one who is intolerant rather then Khalistani. And Nihangs, Nirmalas, Udasins have outdone anyone in Khalibani activity as they define this term. I am still doing research into the Khalibani activity of Nihangs, Nirmalas and Udasins. The more you dig deeper into it the more you get shocked at their violent Khalibani activity that would probably even make the most hardcore Taliban/ISIS terrorists cringe in fear.

How about actually saying what you mean instead of being cowards and start name-calling hoping that others will insinuate some harsher meaning from it .... if the act is not in line with Guru ji rehit i.e. warnings given three times then the sword can be lifted . However if Guru ji di beadbhi hova or Maa bhain di izzat di sawal then straight to action mode . Nirmalas may have been infiltrated by RSS agents same anywhere in the panth just look to rehit of guru and Bachan of Gurbani and you will be able to say this is NOT Sikhi . Khalbani term should be boycotted by all forums where sikhs speak as it has not any relation to Gursikhs..

  4. Thank you pen ji :)

but the only problem is my voice is really feminine and sometimes all you can hear is the vajja tune and a little squeak in the background haha!

  6. Basically I really REALLY want to learn how to play my vajja!

I've had it for a while now and have tried going to kirtan classes.

The first one I went to was quite good as I learnt my 'sa re ga ma...' there but then the teacher stopped teaching and would just leave the class, so everyone would just waste time and talk.

The second class I joined was okay but I just don't have enough time to make a commitment and join a class!

so I've begun learning at home myself! is there anyone here who knows how to play the vajja?

if you do could you help me out and suggest a shabad that would be the easiest to learn first ?

Bhul chuk maaf and thank you ji :)

you can learn via youtube ...try

    Satnam singh khalsa channel

    Manmohan SIngh channel

they show shabad on the keyboard then demonstrate it ... hope this helps

  8. Hi

A question that I hope sangat can help with.

My wife and I had a son in March of this year. My wife (who is from India) wants to go to India in Nov when our baby will be only 7.5 months. I think this is too soon to take a baby to India. I am worried about the weather and also him becoming ill through the water or from mosquitoes. I would rather go in Feb when he will be older.

I was wondering what people think? is it too soon to take a baby to india at 7 months.

    Veer ji,

I took my twin sons when they were eleven months for my bros wedding in March , weather was cool/ ok so that was not such a problem ... you will need to take all the milk powder , sterlising solution tablets and other feeding stuff from here as there it's unlikely you will find the same brands easily . Plus you will need filtered water for your wife and baby and then boil it. I would store the cooled boiled water in sterile bottles in fridge (an ounce or two less than normal feed) then top up with freshly boiled to make up formula . The main problems will be going and coming if there are delays make sure you take enough milk powder and sterile empty bottles and nappies in your cabin bags, get boiled water from cabin crew , if you ask they may cool them for you too. I would never travel lufthansa we ended up with 10 hour delay in berlin going and 14 hour delay in delhi and there was absolutely no support from the airline for baby food or formula.

Since your wife wants to go now in the hot season I think she will suffer more and the baby will have a rough time too as it is not used to the heat . If you can put it off a little so that the weather is cooler and your baby is a bit more sturdy. I took my daughter when she was about 10 months for an Akhand Path at Harimandir Sahib in October and she coped just fine, no illness. Good luck and I hope they have a good time when they do go... nappies are tricky size wise as over there they train babies a lot earlier than here so the sizes are to the smaller end of the baby ranges so if baby is older or chubby then take extra from here.

  9. I am a 14 year old boy and I am a Sikh. I wanted to know if is it bad to kiss strangers? By strangers I mean other non-sikh women that are older than me. I dont have any sexual desires. I just want to kiss them on the lips. Is this wrong? Please reply to this by sending me an email. My email is smoney451@gmx.com

    Beta,

hormones kabbu'ch karla... you aren't meant to be kissing or doing anything with anyone... just learn about you and do your studies, spend time with your friends but you don't have to be in a rush to get involved with anyone else... you don't know you yet.

These other girls why do you want to kiss them because you think they are different from the sikh girls ? you are using the same twisted arguments that muslim boys do for going after apni bhaina , betiaan 'because we respect our muslim sisters too much' . You need to cool down and refocus ...you are Guru ji's son ..do you think he would approve of all this preoccupation? You are gonna live until your in your nineties there's plenty of time to sort out a life partner ...right now enjoy being fourteen it only happens once in this life.

  10. Thanks Turbansguys,

    thats great advice.

Unfortunately I do not know anyone in India to send it to me and will not be going there anytime soon. Any UK based shops/online shops that I could use?

try some of these UK online stores:

    www.turbansdirect.com

    www.sikhistore.com

    failing that

www.sardarpagrihouse.com based in Amritsar have every colour and weight available

  11. OMG the teacher kicking the young child like that

    Very disturbing

why on earth would a three year old need a tutor ...maa ABC nahin pardah sakdi? ..naliak maa pio

That kuttha principal/teacher i would put in stocks and let the people loose on him see how he likes feeling helpless, he was so tough he had to get someone to hold the boy for him ...that guy I would do the same too

  12. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh,

My view is simple , ALL our kids need to be brought up with LOVE and made to feel being a sikh is as natural as breathing ... the only way that is going to happen is you show understanding and PREM to the youths who are going to be the next generation of Sikh parents , especially the girls I think Parents need to know their duties to their kids in terms of passing on Sikhi if they are ill-equipped for the job through life circumstances they should be made aware of programs, video courses available online . Heck, They can sit with the kids and learn alongside them, talk about it together.

Guru Gobind SIngh ji respected parents who never scolded and abused their kids so much ... are we saying we cannot manage to keep our krodh/ahankar in check and acknowledge sadde 'ch bahut kammian han as humans and try to change to his worldview?

Christians say 'the family that prays together stays together' I Think they have a point ...even if we start small we can action this, bacche love to please their parents and their Guru why not use this to help them get used to nam japna by the time they hit their twenties think how much nam kamai they would have earned ....

  13. and I forgot to write, I do behave good. I would not wear short clothes while wearing it or just do other bad stuff. I would respect the turban, and I actually think that I am a good sikh, and a good person. I honestly do think that people would get a good impression of sikhism when they see me wearing it :)

Are you doing this for the image ? I mean I love looking in the mirror and seeing my dastaar but at the same time I know that Guru Gobind SIngh ji blessed me with it as I was willing to follow his commands.

I do not eat meat or drink or bring questions against Guru ji's roop by any faults in my dress or behaviour as I am amritdhari. You need to stop trimming your hair and doing your eyebrows for at least 4 weeks as a start towards being sabat 'whole' in your roop. Then start distancing yourself from eating meat and increasing your banis see how that makes you feel ...if you feel better/ capable of handling that then try wearing your dastaar. Clothing is an external non-verbal cue as to how people should treat you if you are wearing what aaam western girls are wearing in terms of skirts and shoulderless tops peeps are not going to take either you or Gurroop seriously and I'm sure you don't want that.

The Boys who mix and match deserve a karari chuperd I mean both ears pierced , trimmed stubble and then dastaar on top while you're ogling girls or drinking ...you are dragging your father's name through the mud ...sharam ohna nu ohni chahidi ha. Don't try to measure against others , think of what Guru ji would wish for you.

  14. This is great! The more choice in Dasataar websites the better.

Are you able to change the picture on your website to that of a Gursikh?

Or maybe a whole load of different styles of dastaar so it widen the appeal ... links to good turban tying vids might be helpful to those experimenting (youths and women).

  15. London, United Kingdom (July 24, 2014): The Sikh Federation (UK) notes with concern recent developments following the formation of the Haryana Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC).
Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chair of the Sikh Federation (UK) said: ‘We appeal to the Sikh masses to remain vigilant of politicians on all sides that will go to any length and use the situation to their own personal advantage.’
‘Parkash Singh Badal knows Sikh voters in Punjab in very large numbers rejected him and Congress in the recent Lok Sabha elections. To his surprise many voted for a party (AAP) that had little or no party structure, finances or history in Punjab and incredibly took 4 of the 13 seats from Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala and Sangrur, defeating some heavyweights on both sides in the process.’
‘Badal and his family are now fighting for their political futures. He is playing with fire and doing his utmost to use the formation of the HSGPC to play on Sikh sentiments and try and be seen in Punjab as representing Sikh interests. Sikh masses should be wary of the role of Congress as well as Badal’s crude political motives to retain power and control within his family at the expense of Sikh institutions.’
‘’It is obvious that Badal will use any tactic. He sees nothing wrong with overtly exerting political pressure for the unprecedented speedy excommunication of several Sikh leaders in Haryana. His actions are distasteful and he has once again undermined the institution of the Akaal Takht. This will prove to be a costly mistake.’
‘Due to the formation of the HSGPC he has threatened to resign as Chief Minister to put pressure on the Centre to intervene and forced the SGPC to send its staff and task force to Gurdwaras in Haryana. The pressure on the Centre has had limited impact, but the possibility of a violent clash in Haryana remains a real possibility. We appeal to all sides to show restraint and maintain calm.’
‘Badal has now convened a so-called Panthic meeting at the Sri Harmandir Sahib complex in Amritsar on 27 July. This is only for show and to rubber stamp his course of action. As far as we and many Sikhs in the Diaspora (UK and the rest of Europe, Canada, USA, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand) that have been consulted are concerned the meeting on 27 July is a dangerous political gimmick and it has no Panthic legitimacy or credibility.’
‘Instead it is time to put in place a process to consult Sikhs worldwide and call a Sarbat Khalsa to fundamentally review and strengthen the supreme Sikh institution of the Akaal Takht that must at all costs be independent and sovereign. It should never be under the control and be accountable to any political party or the central Government of India. Legislation was first imposed in 1925 by the British to control Sikhs and the SGPC and similar bodies are inherently under the control of the central Government of India.’

Sarbat Khalsa first item of business to reinstate dal khalsa at Akal Takht and Have Jathedar of Dal as Jathedar of Akal Takht as it was in the Tat Khalsa days

  19. Bullcrap..

I myself know where a Sikh guy married a Muslim girl. The mother of the girls was unhappy at marriage but last I heard, even she accepted it..

    Stop pushing dumb steretypes...

Find me 30 cases in the west where Muslim family killed their daughter for marrying a non-Muslim.....

    Mate

a Muslimah cannot marry outside islam it is forbidden in sharia law , she has an instant fatwa on her just as if she had turned apostate. A friend of the family had to convert to marry his wife (Christian to Muslim) and her family were not strict so I think most families would have a similar expectations.

  20. I theorise that certain Western parties will allow and encourage large parts of the Middle East to wipe each other out. After 25-30 years of attrition from all Islamics sides and with all the depletion of oil reserves, the Bible will be introduced.

    Nah

gadaffi kehnda see ..these western guys are funding jihadists via saudis so they create problems in Africa (majorly untapped resources) and middle east so they can'save ' the people and take the wealth as payment for asissting those countries and rebuilding them ....muah ha ha ha
