  1. You don't want to help Rohangya that is fine. You can can keep your money to yourself. But for god sake stop trying to justify rohangya genocide. That is true that they migrated to Burma during British era and now burmese govt dont want them. How would you feel if God forbid Malaysian Muslims start following your advice by kicking out all indian/sikh people who migrated to MALAYA during British period? And you don't need to worry about Rohangya settling in Punjab.First of all it is highly unlikely that in the presence of fascist Modi any rohnagya would be allowed to enter into India and even if they manage to enter india and come all the way to Jammu they can always migrate to Pakistan if things get messy.there are thousands of rohangya living in Karachi so it would not be a problem for them to migrate to Pakistan plus there exist huge support in favor of rohnagya muslims.Just last week there thousands of protesters in Islambad against Burmese govt. These protesters even tried to enter into diplomatic area in hope of breaching burma embassy.
  2. That's cool.I will definitely give a shot to Gurmukhi. Hmm.Do you know best site for learning Gurmukhi online ?
  3. As per the partition of India it was supposed to go with Pakistan.About law of agreement you're right but nobody gave a damn about it.It was also against the democratic principles. India did not accept Junagarh's accession to Pakistan even though ruler of that state had signed instrument of accession to Pakistan but here India insisted on princple of democratic rights and they maintained that Muslim ruler had no right to accede to Pakistan only people of that state will decide their future. Which right you're talking about ? You're being emotional. Everyone knew that muslim majority areas would go with Pakistan and non muslim areas would go to India. Any neutral person can look at the demographics and tell India got favorable deal in both Bengal and Punjab. Here see a blog by Indian https://southasiablog.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/religious-map-of-punjab-before-partition/ A Pakistani perspective http://pakgeotagging.blogspot.com/2014/10/partition-of-punjab-in-1947.html Partition of Punjab was the best deal you could have got. This can be supported by the fact that NOT A SINGLE hindu/sikh majority tehsil was included in Pakistan. There is no point in arguing about Punjab partition because both the countries have accepted it and Punjab is not a disputed land.
  4. wow.How much time did it take you to learn Urdu ? I have been thinking to learn Gurmukhi for a long time. And now a days i'm free so i'm planing to give it a go,anyone here can tell me how much time is required to learn Gurmukhi on average ?
  5. You can check Dr B.R Ambedkar's book "Pakistan or Partition of India".You can find all the statistics about British punjab and princely sates.According to 1941 census as given in this book.Muslim population was 57.1 % in British Punjab and if u also add princely states then overall population of Muslim was at 54.44 %. And frankly you are not the only one who aggrieves 1947 partition .In our side there is no shortage of people who think that we lost Muslim majority areas in Punjab which cost us Kashmir. And More than 8 Muslim majority tehsils were given to India whereas not a single hindu/sikh majority tehsil was awarded to Pakistan. Moreover there is no precedent to divide a country on the basis of overall majority/minority status. If i'm correct Ireland was also divided on county basis.Catholic majority counties went to Ireland and protestant majority counties remained with UK. And there is precedent for exchanging villages. In 1960s Indian govt request pak govt to exchange some land on punjab border? It was a place where Shaheed Bhagat Singh was cremated. So Pakistan changed that land with India.
  6. i'm just curious to learn about other cultures/people.FYI it was a simple google search on Khalistan that brought me here two years ago, back in those days when i used to be quite nationalist lolz and since then i'm here
  7. okay but what a person does if does not want to live with his/her partner.Do they approach some sikh panchayat for dissolving their marriage ? or they just stop living in the same house ?
  8. you mean to say that there is no word for divorce in Sikhi or in Punjabi language ? Just curious to know how divorce is done in Sikhism ? or marriage is a life long thing just like Catholics ?
  9. I think it answers my query This was certainly not my intention. Please keep in mind English is not my mother language and neither do I have studied in English medium schools.I have been to Urdu medium schools in all my life.So sometimes I have a hard time choosing the right word for expressing myself or asking any questions.
  10. I know that, Abolishing caste system and granting equal status to women is what sets sikhism apart from other religion. But i'm talking about slavery which is different from caste system.Once a person is enslaved his life no longer remains his.He has to serve his master, fulfill his/her sexual needs.I think now u see my point, there is difference between caste system and slavery.Although caste system is also bad but slavery is worse. So is there any explicit order from any Guru which prohibits slavery ? Or since slavery was not as common in India as was in Arabia so nobody paid any attention to it ?
  11. Thanks for your reply.bro i'm asking for some verse in Gurbani which explicitly says that from now on slavery is banned and no human can enslave another human. Or there is no such thing verse in Gurbani because slavery was not common in India in those times so gurus did not know about it ?? Can that be the case ?
  12. I have been on this forum for quite a long time now and gradually I have developed a keen interest in Sikhism. So,I was just wondering what does Sikhi say on slavery ? Does it condemn openly or it is silent on this issue ? Please give your answer with reference from Sikh scriptures.Thank you
  13. Is this guy Rona Bannerjee for real ? He says India has great human rights record.Well, thousands of Kashmiris have been killed by hindutva forces in occupied kashmir. There are hundreds of unmarked graves in Kashmir not to mention forced dissaperance of Kashmriri youth. And in Punjab too, this great Indian state did the same with minority. They did not spare even human rights activist like Jaswant Singh Khalra yet this guy has the audacity to claim that india has great human right record.
  14. Partition was done on the basis of districts. If it had been done on tehsil basis then we had a very good claim on two muslim majority tehsil in firozpur ,Zira 65 % ,Ferozpur 55 %tehsils were majority muslims.Ajnala tehsil in Amritsar was also Muslim majority. And about Gurdas pur, most muslims in gurdaspur district lived in Batala where they were 55 percent of tehsil population. There were four tehsils of Gurdaspur out of which only Pathankot was Hindu majority rest were muslim majority. Are you talking about just british punjab or whole punjab including princely states ?
  15. From historical perspective ; Punjabi had never been a state language.Even during Ranjit Singh era persian was the language of state. It is only in recent times that Punjabi got official status.
  16. i watched that video on utube.I read somewher ,when a delegation of punjabi language activist wen to visit Nawaz Sharif when he was CM of Punjab and asked him to promote punjabi in punjab and also in punjab assebmly as punjabi is our mother tongue. But that dude said that "I'm Kashmiri not Punjabi" even though his family has been living in punjab since the last 3 generations. Situation of bengalis is different from punjabis. Bengalis have one common script which both hindu and bengali muslims use.Wheras we Punjabis don't have one. There used to be a script called landa which was neutral script but that is not used anywhere now.You have gurmukhi,we have persian script and hindus have Devanagari.Had there been a common script to which all punjabi ascribed regardless of religious difference situation might have been different. It's pity that punjabi is orphan language in a country where Punjabis are in majority wheras it is flourshing in countries where there are less than 2 percent punjabis live.
  17. It was Mirpur or Poonch where there ware great many retired military soldiers.Majority of them were Muslims and now when the ww2 was over they had no jobs. And they were also fed up of mahraja and and heavy taxes so they decided to fight and liberate their lands.About Gilgit, over there muslim scouts led by british army officer played huge role in liberating it.This area was given to british by maharaja on lease for 90 years (if i member correctly) and just a couple of days back it has been officially returned to Mahraja by British govt and maharaj's representative was sent there to secure possession of gilgit but later on he had to flee to save his life.
  18. Not Pakistani narrative as Pakistani narrative gives no credit to locals. All credit is given to pak army and tribal pathans.Whatever i wrote i took it from two sources Christopher Snedden's books on kashmir and Alex von Tunzelmann's book Indian summer. Here is page from Indian summer.
  19. Good to know.I hope they are successful in their mission.I'm waiting for the day when Punjabi will be revived in punjab and our CM will address the punjab assembly in Punjabi. But I don't know if i would be alive to see that day lol
  20. well i can only speaks for west Punjab.Recently i have come across some pages on Facebook run by Urdu speakers of Karachi. They have started a campaign on social media against the usage of Punjabi in tv talk shows.Even though these tv shows are are private channels and theses shows are produced in Punjab. They are so insecure that they can't tolerate a few Punjabi words in tv talk shows or funny programs even though now Punjabis are more than 110 millions (according to 2017 census) in Pakistan which is more than half population of punjab.I was to see the reponse of some punabis against this propganda by Urdu speakers. And this is a good start but i think it will be miracle when Punjabis in pak will take pride in speaking Punjabi without feeling embarrassed.
