  1. Here is a question for you people. I'd like your views on this sort of situation which is common nowadays. What are your views on boyfriend/girlfriend relationships (assume no sexual relationship)? It would be wrong for a Amritdhari and a Non-Amtridhari to engage in such activities, but what about two people who are both seeking the same thing..>Amrit...both are on the same point on the path and both feel the same about Sikhi? If they both agreed to get married would this be acceptable (assuming their parents knew about it and agreed too). This is a common situation amongst us youngster nowadays, espicially in the West. In this situation, assuming both people had that love for the Guru...or that they both made each become closer to the Guru, would a relationship like this be acceptable? I agree to some extent with the idea of arranged marriages, letting mom and dad decide...but I also think that we there is something to be said for a slighlty more modern viewpoint on the issue...mom and dad may know more about life but they may be from a previous generation...if the girl and boy both were decent honest people, aiming to both become Amritdhari, is this good thing or bad thing? And in the eyes of the GuruJi, if they both decided to get married and the parents both agreed....is this good? To me, as long as the boy and girl are both Sikh and both felt strongly for the Guru and both respected and loved each other then there should not be any issues or problems (providing no sexual relations occur until after marrage). What do you thing?
  2. I would have to agree...you cannot tell if it is or isnt the real Dastaar. Either way, I disagree to some extent with the idea of displaying such items, even if identified as authentic, as they will inevitably lead to them being viewed as sacred items to some extent..which is wrong. I doubt its real and I also think we should be spending our time remembering WaheGuru Ji in a spiritual sense and forgo such materialisitic items. What do you think?
  3. hey. I have a treo 650 (had a 600, but 650 is much better!). Dunno if that helps. Raj
  4. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh! :T: Hi there. I'm a new member to this forum (seems to be one of the more active forums for Sikhs out there!!). I'm a recent convert, so to speak...convert from the usual Punjabi culture to my proper Sikh roots. I'm currently in Manchester, UK and looking to meet other Sikhs in and around the area to chat and learn more about Sikhi. Essentially I'd like to meet other SIkhs to find out about Sikhi and guidence with regards to all things Sikhi. Thats not to say I'm a complete no-brainer! I did grow up in a Pubjabi/Sikh family here in the UK, but as I said before, the Punjabi thing usually takes over and its rare to find other my age (26) who love Sikhi, keep their Kesh and dont eat meat or drink. Of course there is the Gudwara, the best place I guess, but still, if there is anyone out there in the Manchester area and would be willing to meet up or chat over a coffe or something, I'd be more then happy! I hope some of you people out there would be able to help a fellow brother on his road towards Sikhi and, eventually, Amrit. Thank you. Raj
