  1. I think we are just not used to hearing the word Waheguru used as much these days. In the olden times, our elders used it much more esp during the evening times. I remember my grandma using it everytime someone had a fall or a sneeze. OOthat bethat sovaat naam when we awake, sit down, stand up or get ready to sleep we need to say the naam - Waheguru or Satnaam or any other which you are comfortable with. I remember a bibi using it when we were at a playgroup with young kids and mixed race mums. She very loudly asked her son to finish up his fruit and say thankyou to Waheguru. I was left wondering inwardly how she got all that courage. She talked about Waheguru all the time. How Waheguru gave her the courage to look after her 5 kids. How Waheguru was helping her day in and day out. She definitely did make a good impact on me. Therefore keep it up - even if you make a difference to one person - it is still worth it. The ten others who deny and put you down might one day wonder about it and get the courage to stand up and say the words in front of others with all the bravery they can muster.

There is a WhatsApp going around on this topic. But dhandriawala has clearly stated in it, that it is a hindu ploy to mislead sikhs and a claim to push their deities into sikhi.
  3. I can rub it out if you want. You can tell it to some girl who knows you but we dont even know you and you are shying away. No one even knows your real name or anything else. Your parents brought you up, and it does not seem like they did a bad job or does it seem so to you?
  4. Well, just wondering did you portray your family in the negative sense to girls before they made their own decision? Somebody from outside your family will not view your family in the same negative sense you view them. If you got married, the chances are you will both be working and be at home only in the evenings and weekends. You will be visiting her side of the family quite a lot. That way you will get more people to socialise with. Once you get kids then you got nothing much of free time available to waste. I think you should stop portraying your family in the negative sense as it might spread around your area in gossip and that will do you no good in finding a suitable partner in the future. Be positive and focus on the positive as much as you can. No one likes negative people.
  5. Sukhmani sahib is a powerful bani which should be included aling with your nitnem as much as possible. You do not have to perform the whole path in one go for a start. However try to do a few astpadhiya everyday. Perform ardaas when you have completed one Sukhmani. Another thing we have forgotten these days is memorizing a shabad everyday. This way you will do more simran and be able to fight the punj chor better.
  6. In fact you should do your path when you feel that they are telling you something which hurts you. It will help divert your mind from focussingon wwhat they are saying so your mind will not be focused on their words later on. Sometimes we create non existent pictures in our mind and fail to understand the real picture of things. Sometimes our mind plays a trick on us leading us to think people hate us when they are actually trying to help us or trying to improve our behaviour. Try to talk to someone other than your uncle anlout your feelings and thoughts. You might look at their behaviour through another light.
  7. Many of the women I know are in their late 60s or so and they create a child in order to keep receiving housing benefit. Many of these youngsters have older brothers in university. In the UK, its all about milking the benefit system as much as possible. We go to work and pay tax to feed, clothe and educate the muslims.
  8. It all depends on whether whom you marry understands that you need some time.
  9. Sometimes dreams show you future events. The reason for this can be to guide you or to stop you from becoming too emotionally confused when certain events take place in reality and shock you. They tend to make the shock bearable and the happening bearable too. I had this dream when the builders were tearing down a part of the under wall to create an extension of the house. I saw a crack appear at the right side of the upper room. Now the next day, I was prepared as I knew things would not go right. I had woken up hearing the builders arguments too and shouting. The next day, I heard the exact words as I had in my dream. These words were in real life. I rushed upstairs and I saw the crack too. I was more baffled about having dreamt about it rather than the damage to the wall. Therefore, we should not worry too much about these dreams. They can have meanings and can help you accept certain happenings. The same happened to a certain black car we had bought. I had a dream about it being scrapped. Therefore when it got a dent on one end, I told my husband to not bother about putting it right and repairing it. After a month, we had an accident in which the car got damaged and got scraped. Just keep doing your simran and focus on God. These other events are just storms passing by. He saves us in various ways and keeps us joined to his name. Some dreams can be confusing. However it is better to dream about it first, and then see it in real life.
  10. If you want to be with people who have similar feelings and are looking for answers, then you should read this forum. http://www.sikhawareness.com/topic/12279-meditation-my-experiance-am-i-allowed-to-share/
  11. This is an eye opener of what messages are going to start to be spread about in the open.
  12. The more you keep repeating the path the shorter it becomes. Try to do just japji sahib 5 times. You will feel the length has decreased and you are able to do it faster too.
  13. katha on the meanings of the path helps you understand what the words mean. This allows you to concentrate better.
  14. I listen to mine coz my attention span is not too good these days with my son around. Do half and listen to half. At least your ears will hear it. That is equal to doing it. When you know it off head after continuous listening theb you might find it easier to concentrate when doing it yourself. Otherwise it is fine to take a break, get up walk around and come back refreshed to continue.
  15. Offering to educate the children around your area can be a good start. If you can teach mool mantra and a few sakhis, for a start, then you can add punjabi language and japji sahib as well. Its just like tuition. One lesson per week can make a big difference to educating the community around you. This can create closer communities which means greater support. It is a great way to share your knowledge. Meeting to watch a religious video and discussions can help too.
  16. You are most welcome. I have studied both Christianity and Sikhism to some depth. Any more questions, simply ask away.
  17. Jesus said the same things to the Pharisees as Guru Nanak did to the Brahmins. Read this and you will find similarities in him telling the pharisees that they will suffer too, though he did not specify hell. e does talk about punishment, which we will assume in offered only in hell or on earth. It cannot be in heaven as he talks about them blocking the gates of heaven for others too. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+23&version=CEV
  18. The best place to get answers to spiritual questions is to read the SGGS. Shabads explain in more exact detail what Guru Ji always had to say about the Brahmins. Guru Ji has great powers and whatever he says comes to pass. He has never condemned anyone to hell. However we have to understand that there is a way of getting across to people like the Brahmins. This lot had practically ruined any traces of true religion. They fooled the masses with false stories and ceremonies and looted their wealth. They believed they were the only one who were supposed to pray to God or perform any form of meditation. This was the stigma that Guru Ji had to break and dissolve in order to bring equality of mankind and true worship of God.

I have heard some katha many a time about karah parshad. You should always give it a priority. There was some katha recently as well on a miracle that took place when karah parshad was delayed, but the Sikh kept waiting for it. Karah parshadh is served in other heavenly worlds as well as is an important integral part of any Guradwara worship especially important - if there is an ongoing Akhand path. So yes, it is very important to have parshad before going off to your duties.
  20. If you have a bad urge to attend a disco, this diwan should do it for you instead.
