  1. The answer of the above question lies in SGGS Ang 897.... which you can turn to and read the whole shabad. Sikhism does not attack and criticise other religions. Guru Granth sahib has many quotes in it regarding the koran, vedas and the Bible which are the foundations of these other religions. Bani which makes our religion greater than the other religions is so full of humility that it also says Beḏ kaṯeb na simriṯ sāsaṯ. There were no Vedas, Korans or Bibles, no Simritees or Shaastras. Pāṯẖ purāṇ uḏai nahī āsaṯ. There was no recitation of the Puraanas, no sunrise or sunset. Kahṯā bakṯā āp agocẖar āpe alakẖ lakẖā▫iḏā. ||13|| The Unfathomable Lord Himself was the speaker and the preacher; the unseen Lord Himself saw everything. Beḏ kaṯebī bẖeḏ na jāṯā. The Vedas and the Bible do not know the mystery of God. Beḏ kaṯeb kahhu maṯ jẖūṯẖe jẖūṯẖā jo na bicẖārai. Do not say that the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran are false. Those who do not contemplate them are false.
  2. Only belonging to the best dharam is not the way to salvation. If you are not able to practice it then you will not benefit from it. What makes sikhi the best dharam is bani. Aeyo sunan parhan ko bani is whatever SGGS tells us. If we are not making an effort to read as much bani as we possibly can then we carrying a pride which is not very worth. At the end of our days if we have managed to please the Lord of the universe and manage I escape the cycle of birth and death, then we will have made good use of the best dharam in the world. Mere debating on issues is indeed a waste of time. Aap japo avre naam japavo. This is what we should practice to the best of our ability.
  3. The sacrifices of the sikhs and the sikh Gurus could correctly be described by the word kurbani. This word means sacrifice. The Gurus sacrificed their lives for the cause of the truth. However the word ahimsa means non violence which is much easily achieved than kurbani. Even in ardaas the word used in kurbani and not ahimsa. Kurbani only takes place when someone has a higher truth to stand for. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji saved the Kashmiri pundits by taking it upon himself that if they manage to convert their Guru to Islam, they will comply too. He gave his life and thus saved their religion. Gandhi on the other hand made people sacrifice themselves for a cause in which he believed. His fasts are not real as he still maintained his fit body. He was still consuming some types of food to keep up his strength. He did not sacrifice himself for anyone else - it was just a play or a drama being conducted on his part. It was a false act which further got glorified by his followers - who were larger in number hence the greater publicity. Kurbani has its place in sikhism - not ahimsa. Kurbani has a greater divine purpose attached to it. Ahimsa is simply non-violence to make the enemy feel like a fool and to stop hitting or abusing you. I remember seeing a part in the film of Gandhi Ji where he was slapped on the face by the white man, he did not react at all and kept spinning his cloth himself.

  5. Unless you are planning a massive campaign to rescue them from the clutches of hell, I would not bother going into the topic. It is important to note that everyone is at a different spiritual level and so they take birth accordingly. Therefore, Guru maharaj Ji tells us hum nahi change bura nahi koi. One day we will all reach our destination - which is one for all - the ultimate union with the Supreme. Judging others is a weakness which we need to look into. sabh te jane apas ko mandha. Guru Nanak Dev Ji himself asks to be the slave of the slaves of the slaves of God. We should pray for such humility at all times. Judging others is a waste of time. That is the job given to dharam raaj... not to humans.
  6. This means that in no way has the writer of the original script made a mistake as according to your original understanding you state that
  7. Since you have worked out that the whole shabad is on normal humans beings and not mahapurakhs...... asan actually means place.... and not seat. Hence the line actually just refers to the physical place which is occupied on earth. Jis āsaṇ ham baiṯẖe keṯe bais ga▫i▫ā. ||5|| That seat, upon which we now sit - many others sat on it and have since departed. ||5|
  8. The above is the full shabad from SGGS 488. If you read the whole of it and take the particular line Jis āsaṇ ham baiṯẖe keṯe bais ga▫i▫ā. ||5|| That seat, upon which we now sit - many others sat on it and have since departed. ||5|| You will then understand that the seat being referred to is the worldly seat. It is true that when any of the mahapurash come to the world, they occupy a seat which had already been occupied by someone else. The seat which once Guru Nanak Dev ji occupied was passed on to Guru Angad Dev ji and so on. However this does not mean that Guru Nank Dev Ji does not have any seat any more as per your translation or understanding of the line. Nothing in this world stays --- even when the Gurus came they had to depart. This is what we are being made to understand. Whoever comes will go. However there is a seat in heaven which is never lost - for all these mahapurash.

  10. An example with any lesson works better at getting some action. If Guru ji said ... naam japo naam japo... it would be bland and we are less likely to understand. However an example will motivate us better. Examples help us to understand and associate ourselves with real people who benefited from naam jap and who suffered from sin.
  11. I thought Guru Angad dev ji used to do durga puja. When he saw Guru Nanak dev Ji, he realised that he had found a greater Guru and stopped doing devi Darshan. However here we seem to be wanting to go back to devi puja. Sometimes I think we fail to use our common sense. If bani from Akal purakh can be recited at any time, apart from a few guidelines for nitnem banis, then what makes chandhi dhi vaar so different from other banis. Deh siva // mohe ehe subh karman te kabhu na daru is one line which can fill you with bir ras too. You may decide to recite it all night or just in the morning or only in tough situations. Some mahapurakh have continuous japji jaap going on in their minds and bodies despite it being prescribed as a morning prayer. Naam bani is medicine .....sansaar rogi naam daru.... use what works for you and whenever it does the job. The more important thing is doing it not just talking about it.
  12. SGGS Ang 864 is all about Guru dhi mehma. Your dhasam dhuar has been locked and Guru ji has the key. When that door is opened using Gurujis key then you will be able to understand God himself. Just like eyes are for sight, ears for hearing, dhasam dhuar is for feeling and connecting with God the master of the universe.
  13. I don't like to interpret bani..... it is self explanatory. However what I have understood from all that is that God does not exist in the Bible. He is above all that and the bani from the Guru Granth sahib is more supreme given to us by the Gurus. It is my belief that the Bible has been created for those beings who are at a certain level and who can digest only the Bible and will progress from there on to become Gursikhs in their next lives. I may be wrong - but it definitely seems to be a continuity and a promotion for our souls. Gursikhi requires more devotion than does Christianity. Where the Bible says cut your hands off if they cause you to sin, SGGS directs us more positively. Ŧaj bāve ḏāhne bikārā har paḏ ḏariṛ kar rahī▫ai. 15. Gursikh means someone whose a follower of the Guru, but Sikh means searcher - one who is still learning. So its possible it was a Sikh who done it. Secondly I say muslim because they are the ones with a record of sending stuff to girls parent to spoil their relationship before stepping in to reap the rewards and make full use of the spoils. Therefore it comes as a warning to OP - who knows who will be approaching her next. A normal boy would not benefit anyhow by reporting stuff to a girls parents. Pics which we place on facebook can allow strangers to identify you easily. So be it your school, workplace or home, keep your identity and whereabouts hidden away safely.
  16. My direct experience with tea is that it will spoil your restful sleep at night so that you are not fresh enough to wake up at Amrit vela. That way you start slipping in your routine. However tea taken at the right time - before noon sometimes can be a better option. When I went off tea completely, I was feeling too sleepy or I would sleep too much. Therefore it is an individual choice, it may help your spiritual life or it may decline it. Black tea without sugar is the best as milk acts to neutralise the healing effects of the antioxidants which exist in normal tea.

In Kali Yuga, the Koran and the Bible have become famous. ਪੋਥੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਰਹੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥ पोथी पंडित रहे पुराण ॥ Pothī pandiṯ rahe purāṇ. The Pandit's scriptures and the Puraanas are not respected. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਉ ਭਇਆ ਰਹਮਾਣੁ ॥ नानक नाउ भइआ रहमाणु ॥ Nānak nā▫o bẖa▫i▫ā rėhmāṇ. O Nanak, the Lord's Name now is Rehmaan, the Merciful. ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੭॥ करि करता तू एको जाणु ॥७॥ Kar karṯā ṯū eko jāṇ. ||7|| Know that there is only One Creator of the creation. ||7|| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਏਦੂ ਉਪਰਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਨਹੀ ॥ नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई एदू उपरि करमु नही ॥ Nānak nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī eḏū upar karam nahī. Nanak has obtained the glorious greatness of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. There is no action higher than this. ਜੇ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਦੈ ਮੰਗਣਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਓਲਾਮਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਹੀ ॥੮॥੧॥ जे घरि होदै मंगणि जाईऐ फिरि ओलामा मिलै तही ॥८॥१॥ Je gẖar hoḏai mangaṇ jā▫ī▫ai fir olāmā milai ṯahī. ||8||1|| If someone goes out to beg for what is already in his own home, then he should be chastised. ||8||1||
  20. Healing can take time, sometimes years. Cut contact with the person, and either allow yourself rest and reflect on the situation. If you can do path regularly it will help. You reap what you sow. If you sowed sin you will have to burn and suffer. However if you sow bani and simran and ardaas, one day the rewards will come to you which are peace and wisdom. Feelings of anger and revenge will prevail at the start but don't give up. Remember always mera vedh Guru Gobinda.
  21. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to hid disciples. This means that he conquered death. Therefore he is not in the churasi. Anyone who believes in him wholeheartedly will not fall into churasi. Sikhi however has had gurus with greater kamayi. However Jesus was the first to give shahidhi. There is a gap of 1500 years between Jesus time and Sikhi developing into what we know it today. It was possibly during this time that our Gurus were doing their kamayi and bhagti. The problems we faced were greater than what people were facing in the times of Jesus. Jesus spent only 3 years preaching. Guru Nanak dev ji spent all his life preaching. The nine gurus who followed refindd the message for us to a great extent. What will apologising for your past life as a Christian do or achieve? Nothing. Salvation without doubt is gained by being born as sikh and doing great kamai. It is not an easy path. Eh teri ausar eh teri vaar. This is your chance - don't loose and make the most of it for who knows what we will be born as next. It is a continuity as the lord can choose which caste or joon he wishes us to be according to our deeds. An example is Ravidas ji who did great seva in his last janam. However because it was raining a bit too hard he borrowed some item from the house of some women whom his Guru had forbidden him to go to. Because of his one mistake he was cursed to be born in low caste chamaar.
  22. What if you were to die and went to heaven. Then you see Jesus sitting next to God, are you going to order him out ? Tbere was a time that I developed a great hate for the muslims. Everytime I saw one of them, I had seriously bad thoughts aboug them. I would be burning with rage. Then one day I got this dream - the guradwara was full of muslim saints. They were doing bhagti like no one else business. I was the only lady standing there. None starred up ar all. I walked through them and came outside. No one outside would talk to me either. The meaning of this dream was - respect other people and their religion. They are part of God's kingdom too. Follow your religion lkkd no one else's business but know that there is no end to Gods kingdom. We may have been Christians too in our last lives never know. In any case when Jesus came, the world was in utter darkness. What he preached did not make much sense. However after reading SGGS the parables seem much clearer and you understand that he was spreading the very same message 2000 ysars ago. Yes I use Christian examples because I started off with Christianity before I understood Sikhi fully. The examples come to me more easily. Jesus was part of Gods creation and is - so whilst not worshipping him directly we should not ill talk about him and put him down. Just because giani ji gave us an example of Guru Arjun dev jis patience compared to Jesus asking - where are you lord at this time does not mean he totally failed in his mission.
  23. He needs to know the true meaning if hand chopping though. Thats all.
