  2. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Being blessed with Amrit shuld be seen as a blessing rather than as an order you see as a burden. Unless it is seen as a blessing, there's no point really.

Guru Gobind Singh ji himself showed us the importance of Amrit by, Guru Sahib HIMSELF taking Amrit. Guru Sahib did not need AMRIT. Yet to show hwo fundamental it is they begged the Khalsa to bless him with it. So important it must be. It needs to be highlighted that the Gurus did not NEED Amrit, they were already 1 with Vaheguru, Akal Purakh. Guru Sahib still took Amrit, prehaps to show us how fundamental it is?Btw Amrit does not mean straight ticket to heaven, so even someone who ahs taken Amrit is not guaranteed to become one with Vaheguru, except if they jap raam naam

Althoughthe Guru several abnis, it was essensially the same. They all have the same udnelying message, and do not contradict in anyway. It is as spiritual food for us.

It's liek asking us - "if our parents are our parents, then why is my does my mother cook in XYZ way and why does my dad cook in XYZ way" ( I know, a really bad example tongue.gif )

They do share the same jyot, and hence why the Bani, the Word of God does not contradict.

    Hope this helps

The turban is the crown worn by Kings.

The turban is the dignity held on the heads of warriors.

The turban is the honour of wise-men and sages.

When women were seen as inferior and considered impure.

When low castes were accepted as untouchables and treated as slaves.

When the downtrodden were held down by the fear and oppression and made to feel lowly.

Guru Jee reminded us that we are all the children of True Ruler, the One Creator, Waheguru.

Guru Jee reminded us that we are all Kings and Queens.

Guru Jee reminded us that we are all special and important beings.

Women, low castes and the downtrodden were raised higher than a Brahman, who called himself wise and a godly.

Women, low castes and the downtrodden were raised higher than a Kshatri, who called himself a warrior and heroes.

Women, low castes and the downtrodden were raised higher than a King, who called himself royal and the ruler.

The Guru gave his arm to the poor.

The Guru gave his arm to the oppressed.

The Guru gave his arm to the needy.

Pulling them up he gave them dignity, respect and honour.

    Rehatnama Bhai Nand Laal Jee

Placing a turban on the head of a woman, she could now boldy show the world she was no less than a man.

Placing a turban on the head of a low caste, he could now bravely show society that he was no less than high caste.

Placing a turban on the head of the downtrodden, they could now show the oppressors that they were no longer the oppressed but were all Kings and Queens.

Blessed is that Guru, who gave us the gift of being Sardars.

Blessed is that Guru, who gave us the life of being a Warrior Saint.

Blessed is that Guru, who reminded us that we to live like Singhs (Lions) & Kaurs (Princess).

Remember you have the honour of a Queen!

Remember you have the courage of a lioness!

Remember you are royality and the daughter of Guru Gobind Singh Ji!

Brother when you look at the turban on your head:

    May Waheguru bless you.

Pretty much sums it up really

  4. Harnek Singh, although the above surely belonged to Islam, and were pious to the max, I do not agree tha they followed the Qü'ran to the spot, and thus I do not tihnk critisizing Islam or the Qu'ran, is critisizing the above, since their teachings do not go in line wit the teachings of islam. Guru Sahib in Gurbani tells us what makes a real muslim .

  5. According to Sangat Singh and other historians it's because Ahmbedkar was convinced by Gandhi not to convert to Sikhi, that he didn't

Also Singh Sabha Movement came as a result of Gurdware being run by Udasis, and the fact that during Ranjit Singhs rule many (with out force9 decided to convert to Sikhi, but decided to keep the hindu rituals with them. And then came the SIngh Sabha chopping of the hindu rituals from the new Sikhs. Right now we are in a great need of a new Singh Sabha. As MQLK pointed out, if we have people converting just for the sake of converting, and not for love of Sikhi, then it is dubious if they would really adopt Sikh custom and abandon their previous ways, which would mean we would virtually become hindus... Again not support tara Singh (who did have alot of faults).

  6. Taksali Singh Veer jeeyo, Guru Nanak Dev Ji didn't resort to looking at others and just doing Paath, but he actually QUESTIONED everything being done. Gurmukhs, can have faults. Guru sahib Says that everyone is Bhullan har, and that only Vaheguru himself and the Guru are abhull. Instead of imitating others, it might be a very good things to question, since they might unconsciously doing blind faith, andif not he might have something extremely valueble to take with you. I'm not sure Guru Sahib wanted his Sikhs to be very passive.

If people want to do an extra chaupie sahib, extra japji Sahib after their rehras- mubarak tot hem - that's amazing, however we shouldn't impose our own ruitines and beliefs on others.

Guru Bin Ghor andra Gur Bin Samaj na avai.

Without Guru Sahib we won't understand, so yes we should read more and more Gurbani, and rely on Gurbani for answer. If Guru Sahibs jeevan and Gurbani makes something manmat, then it is manmat, if Guru Sahib embraces something it is Gurmat.

Guru Sahib was not passive in any way, and nor should a Sikh be IMHO.

  7. You will be able to find it in SGPC's Kirtan Archive -

    http://www.sgpc.net/kirtanarc.asp

Choose the date, and it will bring the Kirtan recorded during the whole day (from morning to evening). You will have to scroll it to 4-6 pm (whihc will probably be after 12 hours. Also, I suggest you use a program that you can record from the comuter with, since you can't download, but only listen on the net

  8. From the link someone earlier on provided-

Thus, we see that 'Sri Dasam Granth' does not say that 'Kalki Avtaar' will come into this world. The story of 'Kalki' has been given as a translation (though with some changes), as stories of other avatars (incarnations) are given. This is 'Chaubees Avtaar' (24 incarnations), so it is natural that the story of 'last and 24th incarnation has been written in Sri Dasam Granth.

So, dear Khalsa ji, no Kalki Avtaar will come into this world to save humanity. There is no need of Kalki Avtaar either. Khalsa is already there to do what is needed; only thing required is to wake the Khalsa up.

i think you may have misread the login names... the man named Devon was something different than the replier who replied with punjabi words..

DEvon's name was like..ctljksomethingsomething... but the one who replied was cavanagh..... they're two different people, i was confused at first too, but i checked the names again, (and the post counts) and figured out otherwise.

  10. Although FFI does have some eyeopening stuff about islam, they used to have a section about Sikhism as well where everyone was welcoem to make slurs about Sikhi, and what not.

It is not very good for your spiritual jeevna to sit there and argue with them since, they have made up their mind, and no matter how much you refute their arguments, it is fruitless. I hav epersonally wasted a lot of time there.

    bhull chukk maaf
