1. There is a mistake in facts for name of continents,

    - North America

    -South America

are 2 continents which don't end with same letter.

WHY?? Because in rest of the world people study we have SIX continents but in United States, I learnt we have SEVEN continents.

    -Asia

    -Europe

    -Australia

    -North America

    -South America

    -Antartica

    -Africa

Its true because north and south america are on 2 different continental plates.

    152368

Logic about continental plates doesn't work, since there are many continental plates, and Asia has several ones - which means there would practicly be dozens of continents grin.gif

  2. There's no point in discussing it again. Heres the link to the previous discussion just a few weeks ago -

if we look at ithaas..there were many chardi kala gursikhs who weren't married and many that were...

guru sahib didn't say you are nOT allowed to NOT get married...

These have already been mentioned, and it turns out most of these were indeed married, although the wife's name might not have been written in the pages of our hitory, doens't mean they didn't exist

    http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=16643&hl=

Most claims posted pro celibacy have been responded to in the above thread:

Celibacy is a personal choice but not a pro-Gurmat principle and cannot be justified on the basis of Gurbani. All of the Gurus (except 8th Nanak – because of age) were married while they were head of the Sikh Panth. Celibacy is not a requirement for jathedari of Taksal. Sant Jarnail Singh Ji did not change his way of life after becoming the jathedar. Sikhi does not require anyone to adopt celibacy.

Just like to mention that theres loads of quotes telling Gurmukhs to live Gristi Jeevan, I have yet to encounter one SINGLE quote, acknowleding Celibacy beign accepted.

Namastang, although I agree it's wrong to make black and white out of controversial issues such as abortion, and other moral and ethical issues as Guru Sahib had a reason not mentiong these (considering he mentioned Kuri-mars, he could easily have mentioned banning abortion methods (not ultra sound technics, but technics used at the time), which they did not do) as he left some grey area for these, however Guru Sahib has showed, through their own jeevan as well as through Gurbani, Through Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaara etc, that a Gurmukh is designed for Grist Jeevan, there is absolutely nothing in Guru Sahibaans jeevan, or Gurbani, or Vaara etc, that acknowledge celibacy in a Gursikh's Life. A Gurmukh is designed for Grist Jeevan, and that Guru Sahib showed through his own jeevan, and Gurbani, by PRactising what he preached. If someone decides to practise celibacy, the does not mean it's a pro-gurmat principle.

it IS WRONG if we are running away from marriage because we feel we can't be spritiaul..that is wrong..and guru sahib spoke out against it...

BUT if someone just doesnt' feel like getting married..there is NOTHING wrong with that...

Nor does it make it a pro-gurmat concept. The Concept is that a Sikh Should live a life of a householder, if he decides not to, it's entirely up to him, but that person cannot claim that he's following the teachings of Gurus to the point.

GrbwrI gur isK hoie isKw sUqR ml mUqR ivfwxY]

gharabaaree gur sikh hoe sikhaa soothr mal moothr viddaanai||

The Sikh being householder abnegates tonsure, the sacred thread (Janeu), etc. and forsakes them like abominable faeces.

This is a clear instruction by Bhai Sahib Bhai Gurdas Ji, that a Sikh does and should indeed get married.

    http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=5680

Guru Sahib didn't just say that marriage didn't hinder spirituality but also made the Sikh a "gharbaree", or householder..

Those who have already made up their opinion, will not care less what Bhai Sahib Bhai Gurdas Ji Says, and will begin jsutfying other people's actions. Bhai Gurdas Ji's words are clear. Gurbani is clear. If one still has issues, it'äs because they have made up their mind and won't change it no matter what.

This has been discussed many time on this forum already.

Don't worry, all desi men do that..

Gore doa lil sneezi, like desi children.. Desi men get buildings to fall

I don't think the part of assinasion is true, as it orginsates from a people who sued to take "Hashish" after they've killed somone, and thus the word "assissine" came, which can be found in most european languages.

Also about the continents ending and starting with the smae leter, only applies for English - not Punjab

    Jurop

    Eshia

    Umrika

    The list goes on :)

No but seriously, other european languages don't have it that way...

    MODIFYED:

Just had a look on encarta:

    assassin

    as·sas·sin [ ə sáss'n ] (plural as·sas·sins)

    noun

    Definitions:

murderer: a killer, especially of a political leader or other public figure

[Mid-16th century. Via French < Arabic ḥašāšīn "hashish users"]

Appearntly, you can find it in Arabic, definetly in Ungreji, French I think as well. etc

  4. Guru sahib had desire to be married- or did they simply accept the law of God?

Baba Deep Singh Ji, etc had desire? Gyani Jarnail Singh ji had desire to get married? Gyani Kartar Singh Ji had desire to get married?

All of the above, were married, had kids - did any of them do little Parchar ? Can anyone say - "yes this maharapurash who was celebate has done more parchar than these married Gurmukhs"?

  5. That's what I'm saying. Bibi Bolan goes on forums, (and has previous written about some of the posts on the forum, re-call when Sikhsangat and W!N were one - then she write an article on online Sikh militants lol) Fair enough she writes about death threats, and online Sikh militants (lol) - why on earth do these (this is what they call themselves, but they are definetly not) "Western Academia, unbias scholars" etc etc

not ever publish about your post, condemning death threats, and instead encouraging peacefull discussion. This will NEVER happen. Its sad that although they are reading, they do not seem to want to write what e.g. you are writing.

  6. There has been a lengthy discussion on this subject. It usually turns out that person for celebacy usually mentions, Baba Buddha Ji and Baba Deep Singh Ji. Some Singhs provided with the info of Baba Deep Singh ji being married.

As for the other person you mentioned- would there be anything wrong in him getting marreid since, Gyani Kartaar Singh Ji, Gyani Jarnail Singh ji, all got married - don't see any reason at all why he wouldn't get married.

Bhai Gurdas JI himself mentions that a Gurmukh lives in a household family, and remembers Akal in the family.

Which means as Gurmukhs, we should have sangat of family and all together remember Kartar, and not just by ourself, as celibates. Perfect examples are provided above. None of the Gurus were celibate (except Guru Harkrishan jee, who Akal Charana at a very tender age)

Please make a search.. as there was a huge thread about it.. No use in discussing it again, since it's just going to be another endless debate.

  7. Something interesting I found

    Volume 6, Book 61, Number 556:

    Narrated Aisha:

The Prophet heard a man reciting the Qur'an in the mosque and said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on him, as he has reminded me of such-and-such Verses of such a Surah."

    Volume 6, Book 61, Number 557:

    Narrated Hisham:

(The same Hadith, adding): which I missed (modifying the Verses).

    Volume 6, Book 61, Number 558:

    Narrated Aisha:

Allah's Apostle heard a man reciting the Qur'an at night, and said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on him, as he has reminded me of such-and-such Verses of such-and-such Suras, which I was caused to forget

    Volume 6, Book 61, Number 559:

    Narrated Abdullah:

The Prophet said, "Why does anyone of the people say, 'I have forgotten such-and-such Verses (of the Qur'an)?' He, in fact, is caused (by Allah) to forget."

    Volume 6, Book 61, Number 561:

    Narrated Umar bin Khattab:

I heard Hisham bin Hakim bin Hizam reciting Surat-al-Furqan during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle, and I listened to his recitation and noticed that he recited it in several ways which Allah's Apostle had not taught me. So I was on the point of attacking him in the prayer, but I waited till he finished his prayer, and then I seized him by the collar and said, "Who taught you this Surah which I have heard you reciting?" He replied, "Allah's Apostle taught it to me." I said, "You are telling a lie; By Allah! Allah's Apostle taught me (in a different way) this very Surah which I have heard you reciting." So I took him, leading him to Allah's Apostle and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I heard this person reciting Surat-al-Furqan in a way that you did not teach me, and you have taught me Surat-al-Furqan." The Prophet said, "O Hisham, recite!" So he recited in the same way as I heard him recite it before. On that Allah's Apostle said, "It was revealed to be recited in this way." Then Allah's Apostle said, "Recite, O 'Umar!" So I recited it as he had taught me. Allah's Apostle then said, "It was revealed to be recited in this way." Allah" Apostle added, "The Quran has been revealed to be recited in several different ways, so recite of it that which is easier for you."

    Volume 6, Book 61, Number 562:

    Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet heard a reciter reciting, the Qur'an in the mosque at night. The Prophet said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on him, as he has remind ed me of such-and-such Verses of such and-such Suras, which I missed!"

  8. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Daas has read a few books on 1984. It seems pretty clear , from interviewing some police officers, and confessions by Gill that cats were pretty successful. It seems as if the vast majority of the innocent killed are by cats. Where there Sikhs militants who killed innocent people?

Reading Bibi Cynthias book, one realises how the Jhujharoos of the time thought. I recommend everyone out to read the truth, read that book. In it she interviews quite a few of them, and the vast majority of them condemn killing of innocent people. On several occasions it turns out the Singhs didn't shoot, even though they had their target, because it could risk killing an innocent - so they cancelled and decided to do the operation later on. In one (one of like 10-15 interviews), the militant, confesses detonating a bomb in a market full of Hindus. I can't remember the exact cause why they did it... however their aim was clear - to target innocent Hindus on the market. It seems plausible to say that most of the people killed are either made up, fake, or killed by black cats. There were some militants indeed who did kill innocent people unfortunately. Tully (who is generally pretty bias against Sikhs), mentions that during the Delhi riots, people were told stories on national and government radio stations about trains arriving with dead bodies of Hindus, to fuel the fire against Sikhs. Inderjit Singh Jaijee in his politics of genocide gives several cases where police were caught of being dressed up as Sikhs and looting people's houses, and were later on eliminated by the higher authorities as they had been exposed.

My Conclusion : Although most of the killings were absolutely not made by Sikhs, there was some kala in the daal. In other words, yes we did have some gullible militants who killed innocent Hindus, presumably being inspired by others who penetrated themselves into the movement. Whereas the government exaggerates it, and thus making a big media blow out of it, this is probably where HRW got there info from.

It is vital to remember that these organisations, HRW; and Amnesty are still banned from entering India, so they really don’t have much first hand info on what's going on in India, and those small Human Rights Organisations trying to do something are badly beaten, as seen in Bibi Cynthias & Bhai Ram Narayan Kumar Ji's report known as "Disappearances in Punjab" =>

    http://panthkhalsa.org/humanrights/index.php

Neither of us has any personal stake in the Punjab conflict. Neither of us is Sikh, though we are both regarded as experts on Sikh affairs.

Our interest here is humanitarian only. We believe we have a moral obligation to speak out on an issue that has not received the international attention it warrants.

Heightening awareness of the push for accountability has led to a rise in calls for the necessity of impunity for rights abusers. In addition, there have been deliberate attempts to thwart the efforts of human rights workers. Since India has never allowed Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch or other internationally respected organizations to visit Punjab, grassroots workers have provided the bulk of the information that has come out. But these workers are then particularly vulnerable to harassments and threats in India. Many of the activists now working with the Committee for Coordination on Disappearances in Punjab have been themselves arrested, tortured, and jailed (Kumar among them). Since the work of documenting disappearances has begun in earnest, an elaborate hoax was orchestrated to frame several activists in a purported plot to break Sikh militants out of Burail jail. This has the effect not only of tying up the time and resources of the remaining activists - who now have to mobilize to get their colleagues released - but of identifying human rights activism with sympathy for militancy in the public mind.

On July 18, 1998, three members of the Committee for Coordination on Disappearances in Punjab came out of India to speak about the efforts of the Committee at Columbia University in New York. These were Ram Narayan Kumar (current author), Amar Singh Chahal (Lawyers for Human Rights) and Inderjit Singh Jaijee (Movement Against State Repression). Also speaking at the human rights symposium were Cynthia Mahmood (current author), Mary Pike (Center for Constitutional Law), and Ami Laws (Physicians for Human Rights) from the United States. Just days after the seminar, word was received that Jaspal Singh Dhillon, another member of the Committee for Coordination, head of the Human Rights and Democracy Forum, and close associate of Jaswant Singh Khalra's, had been arrested in India once again in connection with the jailbreak conspiracy. A string of volunteers for the Committee for Coordination were picked up for questioning at the same time.

We fear for the well-being and indeed for the lives of our colleagues who continue to work to document the egregious abuse of state power exemplified in the phenomenon of "disappearance."

Even the human rights organisations fear their well begin, as whilst they are trying to free innocents, their own colleagues are being trapped!

  9. The best way to get the message across about accountability for human rights abuses in India is not by burning the flag. These things just make us look fundamentalist like the crazy Muslims on demonstrations. You have to appear noble and better than that - not play into the hands of those who want to discredit the Sikh human rights cause. People who do this are not thinking rationally - they give ammunition to the enemy. Images mean a lot. Those who get some kind of ego-satisfaction from it do not think of the bigger picture.

    152185

    Love your responses bhaji.

We should do protest, demonstrations, write email, contact ocal mps, but with a cold head, not a fuming one, with half of the words being abuses and death threats.

It's actually pretty sad how authors like Bibi Bolan, happily writes about Sikhs who goaround making death threats, but doesn't spare a single sentance for those who oppose it (the vast majority). Pretty sad. WHy can't journalists, who are capable like Bolan make an effort to report unbias-ly no.gif

  10. Make a search for gnostics and reincarnation on google. You'll find loads. From what I've read on some sources, a lot of Christian braches still believe in reincarnation, it is in the 300 ad sometime that Constatine decided to modify Christianity to his political benifit that reincarnation was removed, Jesus was madethe divine Son of God (By ignoring other Gospels, previewing him as a divine being - but a HUMAN BEING, married etc)

Loads of modifications made. Similar to the way Sikhi is changing today by R.S.S influence, and Sikhs now happily accept photos today, and ignore hukmi raag Kirtan etc - some pretty important things...

  11. About Bhagat Pipa Ji:

    http://searchgurbani.com/bhagats/bhagatpipa.htm

According to the link, there's only one shabad by Bhagat jeeyo. The Shabad has ben posted on the bottom. To see it in Gurmukhi:

    http://searchgurbani.com/main.php?book=sri...ction=pageindex

Scroll down to "Raag Dhanasri" to Bhagat Pipa Jee, on ang 695.

When searching for Bhagat Pipa Ji on tha site, I couldn't find any mroe.. so that's most likely the only shabad by BHagat jeeyo.

  12. kanhaiya.jpg

    kanhaiyafel.jpg

    bgurdas.jpg

Although I recommend you have photos of Gursikhs, Daas does not agree with having photos of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, as they are merely an artist's impression of how Guru Nanak Dev JI looked like. As the "Guru" in Guru Nanak Dev ji wasn't ever the physical, but the Shabad, Gubani, Jyot Parkash, it doesn't matter how he looked, or any picture of him. By us Sikhs having photos of his physical, only shows that we acknowledge that the photos are authentic, as we ourselves are showing them to non-sikhs, and telling them -"This is Guru Nanak Dev Ji". It's like me drawing a picture of someone i've never seen, me drawing apictire of i.e. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's father, and Indian pariots, hanging up photos of him in their bedroom, and acknowledging the photo! I might draw him skinny, fare skined etc - but that doesnt make his father look like that, it's just my impression of how he might have looked.

Thus Daas strongly discourages from having paintings of Guru Sahibans..and instead have pictures of Gurmukhs, which are there for us to remind ourself of our rich heritage

  13. well, sant singh ji maskeen proved all to be very correct. never mind if u dont believe, but i m prepared. wahegurooooooooooooooooo!!!

I jsut want you to be aware if tha it's dubious, and not e convinced tha it's Guru Sahibs bachan, but be cautioned about it.

Where di Gyani Sant Singh Maskeen ji say they are all correct (very doubtful grin.gif )

  14. Where did the talk of B Russell come from?

Look at "The excellence of Sikhism", a book which cites non-sikh's view on Sikhism, historians, journalists, politicians etc.

He gives reference to most of his quotes, but some of them he himself interviewed, such as an Swiss Professor page 120-122.

If you're really after the source (which will show that you are actually making an effort to reserach) then I suggest you go to his website.

    http://www.sikhglory.alagshabadyug.org/contact.php

I recommend you either email him or phone him (his number is on the above link)

Tell him it's regarding the statements regardin B Russell, in chapter 8 "Excellency of Sikhism" page 120.

And he should definetly be able to answer.

Another myth I just read about was about BHai Khanaiya jee inspiring Sir Henry of Red cross, to find the REd Cross. This is not true, all he says is tha a few hundred years before the Red cross, Bhai Kanyia Ji, a Sikh, did exactly the same - selfless service. It does not say that he INSPIRED Sir henry to do so.

Again, I recommend everyone this book, and if you're out to find out where he got his info from, I recommend you call him (as Punjabis can be pretty dodgy with emails)

Also, please post what he says

P.s whether John Smith is real or not - his statements are for sure (most of thme atleast), the responses made by Ali Sina of Faithfreedom.org, are absurd and have no base whatsoever. He was again refuted by "Ryan", to which he did not respond. All of the mails sent back and forth were published on his website, until he re-made the site, and removed some sections, including that of John Smith's email, Ali SIna's response, and "Ryan's" response to his respons. I should have it somewhere on the computer.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

If only someone would come, and lead me to meet my Darling Beloved; I would sell myself to him. ||1||

I long for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.

When the Lord shows Mercy unto me, then I meet the True Guru; I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||

If You will bless me with happiness, then I will worship and adore You. Even in pain, I will meditate on You. ||2||

Even if You give me hunger, I will still feel satisfied; I am joyful, even in the midst of sorrow. ||3||

I would cut my mind and body apart into pieces, and offer them all to You; I would burn myself in fire. ||4||

I wave the fan over You, and carry water for You; whatever You give me, I take. ||5||

Poor Nanak has fallen at the Lord's Door; please, O Lord, unite me with Yourself, by Your Glorious Greatness. ||6||

Taking out my eyes, I place them at Your Feet; after travelling over the entire earth, I have come to understand this. ||7||

If You seat me near You, then I worship and adore You. Even if You beat me and drive me out, I will still meditate on You. ||8||

If people praise me, the praise is Yours. Even if they slander me, I will not leave You. ||9||

If You are on my side, then anyone can say anything. But if I were to forget You, then I would die. ||10||

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to my Guru; falling at His Feet, I surrender to the Saintly Guru. ||11||

Poor Nanak has gone insane, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||12||

Even in violent storms and torrential rain, I go out to catch a glimpse of my Guru. ||13||

Even though the oceans and the salty seas are very vast, the GurSikh will cross over it to get to his Guru. ||14||

Just as the mortal dies without water, so does the Sikh die without the Guru. ||15||

Just as the earth looks beautiful when the rain falls, so does the Sikh blossom forth meeting the Guru. ||16||

I long to be the servant of Your servants; I call upon You reverently in prayer. ||17||

Nanak offers this prayer to the Lord, that he may meet the Guru, and find peace. ||18||

You Yourself are the Guru, and You Yourself are the chaylaa, the disciple; through the Guru, I meditate on You. ||19||

Those who serve You, become You. You preserve the honor of Your servants. ||20||

O Lord, Your devotional worship is a treasure over-flowing. One who loves You, is blessed with it. ||21||

That humble being alone receives it, unto whom You bestow it. All other clever tricks are fruitless. ||22||

Remembering, remembering, remembering my Guru in meditation, my sleeping mind is awakened. ||23||

Poor Nanak begs for this one blessing, that he may become the slave of the slaves of the Lord. ||24||

Even if the Guru rebukes me, He still seems very sweet to me. And if He actually forgives me, that is the Guru's greatness. ||25||

That which Gurmukh speaks is certified and approved. Whatever the self-willed manmukh says is not accepted. ||26||

Even in the cold, the frost and the snow, the GurSikh still goes out to see his Guru. ||27||

All day and night, I gaze upon my Guru; I install the Guru's Feet in my eyes. ||28||

I make so many efforts for the sake of the Guru; only that which pleases the Guru is accepted and approved. ||29||

Night and day, I worship the Guru's Feet in adoration; have Mercy upon me, O my Lord and Master. ||30||

The Guru is Nanak's body and soul; meeting the Guru, he is satisfied and satiated. ||31||

Nanak's God is perfectly permeating and all-pervading. Here and there and everywhere, the Lord of the Universe. ||32||1||

May Guru Ji bless all of us with such a preet d_oh.gif
