  1. haha.. waheguru waheguru That is surely gonna make me look good on this thread!! haha
  2. good post bhai sahib. I hope I didn't give you that impression when I met you in Chicago! lol
  3. Bhai Sahib you should have recorded your speech!! Now we should have you address the sangat again on Yahoo! voice chat!!! What do you say? Maybe Waheguroo! Network admins can record it and put it on kathaa.net
  4. GurVir singh ji, I don't really think this is the soul reason why we have 'rebel gurdwara sahibs'. There are actually two different Gurdwara Sahibs being run by two different 'Ravidaaseay' commettes in the small town of Fresno. As it's been mentioned here on this thread, there MANY other sevas which can be done at the Gurdwara Sahib. Moreover, is it ok to overlook Gurmat just because of sentiments of others? Traditionally this is how seva was done and if we get sad because we aren't allowed to do seva of certain kind, then it's only our fault because we really haven't understand where we belong and where we don't. If everyone understood their role then there wouldn't be any problem. You know that non-muslims cannot enter the Kabba, so you wouldn't even try to do that because it's understood to you that it's against their rules. So why is it that we have a problem of following the rules of Sikhi where we are wiling to abide by rules of other religions? Shanti and peace of mind will come easily if we focused more on listenting to Gurbani, and no one can stop anyone from listening to Gurbani anywhere. We are only discussioning that some certain sevas are to be performed by rehitnaam Singhs and Kaurs. I'm not 'holy' at all so you don't have to use the word 'holier' when making a addressing a statement towards me. ANd if someone would explain to me why I cannot perform a certain seva, I will step down ASAP. I know it will be my own fault if I was to do something which I'm not supposed to, and hence I would only be hurting myself. Guru Sahib has blessed me with doing chaur s ahib di seva at our local gurdwara sahib, and to do seva there you have to wear a white dastar. So I know that if I want to do seva there I have to tie a white dumalle, it's basic understanding that I have to follow. And when sometimes I cannot change the dumalla I just don't go to do the seva becaue I don't want to break their rules. I don't understand how you cannot recite Gurbani while doing seva of washing utensils or while cleaning the joore of Sangat. "Rehit Binaa Tankhaae Jaano" Anyone who doesn't follow rehit is a tankhaae to even begin with, so there really shouldn't be this question if tankhaaes can do seva of Guru Sahib.
  5. Does anyone know of a good site to buy KVM switch w/ cables from? I just a good deal on ecost.com with 2 ports for 20 bucks but I was thinking if I can get one with 3 or 4 ports that would be better. Anyone know of any site with it costing around 40-45 bucks?
  6. So amrittharis are not Sikhs? and read other posts about charna amrit. and JSS, did you miss my post on Bhai Kanhiya Ji above?
  7. Yes, that's exactly what we needed, another excuse to not year your Sri Sahib!! Thanks Gujreet Kaur and Bhupinder Singh!! lol.. Just kidding
  8. JSS, the reason why you don't hear the word 'Singh' attached to Bhai Kanheiya Ji's name is because he was desciple of Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji so he 'must have' taken Charna amrit from Guru Sahib, and I haven't come across any other Sikhs who had to take Khande Baate Ki pahul again once the charna amrit initiation was put to an end by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Perhaps this is the explanation
  9. I don't think there's really that big of a need to rip apart Sikh soldiers point of view. All he was doing was stating the points from Sri Akal Takhat Sahib's maryada. If we have to accept that just believing in something is ok, without actually following it, then won't we also have to accept people who say, oh I believe it's not good to drink, but I still drink anyway because I like to drink! And what about those who know it's wrong to commit adultry but yet still do anyway? In Gursikhi we know that we are supposed to live a life of 'karni pardhaan' which means to do it. Belief in something without practising it is of little value. Imagine what the state of Sikh panth would be if we all lived the life of believing in Guru Ji's teaching without practising them? Can this be accepted aswell? Imagine how little importance would remain to status of Khande Baate ki Pahul if there was no need to actually take it from Punj Pyare because having a belief in it was acceptable? It is very obvious that people will get offended when someone tells them that they cannot perform a certain seva, but seriously, isn't there a bit of ego behind such behavior? If someone is a sucha and sacha shardalu of Guru Sahib, wouldn't he step down at the moment when someone tells him what he's doing is against Gurmat? anyway, my point of participating in this thread was not to make anyone 'believe' in what I do, but just to contribute to the other side of the argument. and lastly, I have a lot of respect for those 'mone' who still come to Guru Sahib's darbar and I hope that one day they do acc ept Guru Ji's way of life but when it comes to things like some mone challenging the Gurdwara Sahib commettes in court because they want to have their own amrit sanchaar (recent Fremont, CA. case) then it's obviously not goign to work out.
  10. The one in above pic is from Bhindree... btw, I've always believed the ones from Mehta are better in design as compared to Bhindree ones.
  11. If you still haven't taken amrit, it's best that you directly ask the Punj Pyare when you take it.
  12. Mr. Singh, that's exactly true, Sikhi does reject castism but you have to remember that Sikhi doesn't degrade any other religion, infact Guru Sahib adviced people of other faiths to be firm and strong in their faith, and this is the reason why Guru Sahib let the Brahmins had their own cook, because Brahmins do not eat from hands of non-Brahmins.Now people would ask that isn't keeping bebeik being like a Brahmin now? Well now, because to be a brahmin, you have to take birth in a brahmin family but however in Sikhi, anyone willing to keep the punj kakaari rehit can become Amritthari and keep sanjh of 'Roti Beti' with Sikhs (Gursikh ki roti beti Gursikh se). The story of Bh. Dyaal Daas Ji is very simple, he was a shardalu of Guru Sahib but hadn't taken Khande Baate ki pahul and once he asked Guru Sahib to eat at his house. Guru Sahib clearly told him that he needs to take amrit first and then only would his seva be accepted. I heard this sakhi from Gyani Mall Singh Ji of Darbar Sahib and it also appears in the pracheen panth parkash of Bhai Ratan Singh Bhangu. So JSS, what's the use of having rehit naame anyway if we can't accept any of them? perhaps it was a good thing according to you that most of the puratan hand written rehitnaame were destroyed by the Indian Government in 1984? Because if we had more rehitnaame we would have more controversies!! Moreover, on what basis are you saying the above posted rehitnaama emphasizing Khande Baate ki phaul is wrong? It's been a while since I've read any book published just with rehitnaame in it so I can't recall if I have come across any about 'kirpan ka amrit' and since you say it has been mentioned in rehitnaame can you provide with references? He didn't exactly say that, he only quoted panktees from Gurbani which talk about importance about amrit.
  13. soon soon soon  but for a slightly different reason right now!!
  14. Mr Singh, it's a well known fact and has been discussed here before. Gangu was hired by Guru Tegh Bahadar Sahib Ji when Kashmiri Pandits came to seek Guru Sahib's help and he was later dismissed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji after the trouble was over for them. If this was not the case, why else wouldn't he be still working for Guru Sahib as a langree when Guru Sahib was at Anandpur Sahib? If Gangu could cook for Guru Ji then why wouldn't Guru Sahib eat food from hands of Bh. Dyal Daas Ji (sakhi from Panth Parkash)?
  15. You forgot the include the most important thing in your title: Amrit Baata!
  16. Balait da sher, it really depends on what kind of seva. Can you provide us with names of non-amrittharis doing seva of Chaur Sahib or making langar at time of Guru Gobind Singh Ji?
  17. This topic has been discussed on this forum already. Kandola veer asked a similar question and many of us picthed in our views on this. Check out this link to read that thread urself: http://forums.waheguroo.com/index.ppa?act=...t=3927&hl=chaur When talking about seva of Guru Sahib, lets follow what Gurbani and Rehit Naame tell, and not our own personal matt.
  18. Go to Costco and pick up the TDK pack from there. They are good in quality (TDK can always be trusted) and probably the best deal you can find. I think the Panasonic ones get a bit messed up after you use them again.
  19. are you looking for MD disks with kirtan stored on them? If yes then you can buy them from Sikhifm.com or email keertan@waheguroo.com and ask them if they can make some for you.
  20. http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=5479 Read what word Guru Sahib uses for 'day' in the last panktee
  21. I know that.. and dastar just as a general requirement has been discussed here, even though they have mostly led to kakkar based discussions, but here are some links anyway: http://forums.waheguroo.com/index.ppa?act=...astar,and,women http://forums.waheguroo.com/index.ppa?act=...astar,and,women http://forums.waheguroo.com/index.ppa?act=...astar,and,women just three links from a quick search
