Bul chuk maf if I cause any offence. Please help me understand.
If we call Indira Gandhi bad, is it wrong because she is a woman even though she stormed our holiest place and killed so many people?
She gave birth to Rajiv Gandhi. Was he a king? And how many innocent Sikhs did he kill?
If women are capable of great things, than can they be capable of terrible things too? Or does having a womb exempt them from this?
Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
No veerji. Yes of course woman are capable of terrible things to like what indira gandhi but there are other woman like Mata Sahib Kaur,Bibi Nanaki,Mai Bhago and countless other shaheed Singhanis whose greatness cannot be described. But when Guru Sahib is saying this,it is to those people who have negative stereotypes against woman and claim that all woman are like that and that only a woman can do such a kartoot. This is wrong as this would be an insult to other good woman. Its like imagine saying all Man are cunning. Then this would insult all good man.Another example is that many people abort children just because the child is female.Thats why Guru Sahib says why condemn a woman whose Greatness CAN be so powerful. But this does not apply to all woman. No it is not wrong to call Indira Gandhi bad or Rajiv Gandhi bad or a person like Wazir Khan. But it is bad to give an example of evil people and judge a whole gender or religion based on that.

An assessment of a particular type of woman, of which there are many in today's age, is NOT an attack on all womankind.
The distinction is lost on you clowns.
Down-vote away, it gives me strength!
Relax mate I only downvoted the posts I disagreed with.I already answered you.Honestly I have nothing personal with you.I respect and agree with your other posts but now you said something wrong so I gave you the answer based on Gurmat, i did my part.If you wanna continue that's on you mate.Go on with the Name calling.Doesn't make a difference to me.I will just put a laughing face on your post .

@MisterrSingh the female Kartoota you are talking about comes from a group of people.Do not call all woman bad due to that group.

I wouldn't be surprised if people send Diwali cards or messages with images of Diwali babes on them lol! Like how you have those cheeky Christmas Cards and messages with girls on them lol, unless it's already happening.
Nagar Kirtans are the same, everyone goes there to socialize and eat lol when we were in School everyone used to go there to meet up with their gf/bf. Boys also used to organize fights lol!
The nagar kirtan ended at Ramgharia Gurdwara and there used to be a mela in the park opposite, a lot of the uncles used to drink alcohol near the bushes.
Basically Nagar Kirtans are like Punjabi carnivals.
We never had a Nagar Kirtan in my country before.I had to go to Malaysia to see one lol.

In southeast Asia ji.Prefer to keep the location gupt.Very few sikhs here.Used to have about 20000 but then many migrated to Canada and australia. So left with about 8000 to 9000 sikhs.

Wow,in my place we don't have a single firework during diwali, vaisakhi or any Gurpurabs. No Nagar kirtan even.We just go to Gurudwara Sahib, hear the kirtan and have langar then we go back home.
2 hours ago, Kaurr said:For us we normally go to the gurdwara in the evenings and play with fulcharhia and the diva, whilst stuffing ourselves with pakore and samose and sweets with our mates. If we were in Punjab at that time we would go crazy with the fireworks. I've cut back on the fireworks recently, becoming more environmentally sustainble. Still use the fireworks in Punjab, just not as much.
What is a fulcharhia? We never had that in my country ever. Not even in Vaisakhi or Gurpurabs, probably cause the population of sikhs here are so little.Only about 8000 out of which about half are mona. And when I say mona I mean like extreme not into sikhi. They drink alcohol, get involved in gangs and smoke. Most of them dont even come Gurudwara. Then out of the other half who keep their kesh and turban, about 40% of them drink as well.So theres only like 900 or 1000 people who come to Gurudwara.Super sad.In my Punjabi school theres only 50 students my age.Out of which only 2 or 3 Amritdhari or at least following sikhi but haven't got the chance to take Amrit yet.The rest of them are either trying to act like gunde. Alot of sikhs in my country left and migrated to Australia or Canada.

Loving attention to the Lord and attachment to Maya are the two separate ways; all act according to the Hukam of the Lord's Command.Guru Amar Daas Ji in Siree Raag - 87

Brother Saheed4life,
all that you describe above, could not it well be a result of our on karam?
Because if that was the Hukum (partiality to have more or less), it would be much unfair towards those who have sufferings or pain or etc, just because of His Hukum.
That would be seen as unfair from His side if it was so, but thank god, it is not.
Of course. our karam, our destiny, is a law, which is executed under His hukum, which means, as does one sow, so does one reap, and not because He wants to favor you or disgrace you, for above everything He is an infinite Ocean of love and mercy.
In that respect Gurbani tells us:
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
Hukam Rajaaee Chalanaa Naanak Likhiaa Naal ||1||
हुकमि रजाई चलणा नानक लिखिआ नालि ॥१॥
O Nanak, it is written that you shall obey the Hukam of His Command, and walk in the Way of His Will.
So, as seen above, if we obey the hukum of His command and walk the way of His will, which is being vitous, and of throughly cleansing ourselves with the Amrit of His Nam, then, we shall not incurr in any karmas for which we would have to keep on rolling in the wheel of 84.
We are all foreigners in this land of untruth, or we could say, we are guests in His this creation house , so we should be careful to not harm or misbehave anybody with word, speech or thought, for then we shall be incurring in karmas for which we will undoubtedly have to come back and settle.
In another verse, Guru Jee tells us :
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਉਤਮੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ॥
Hukamee Outham Neech Hukam Likh Dhukh Sukh Paaeeahi ||
हुकमी उतमु नीचु हुकमि लिखि दुख सुख पाईअहि ॥
By His Command, some are high and some are low; by His Written Command, pain and pleasure are obtained.
Though it is clear in this verse above, but His command for us means, the law of karma, our own sown seeds, and for which, we get pain, pleasure, and any such thing with which we encounter or have in our lives.
Everything created by Him, is subject to natural and perfect laws, such as law of gravity, law of karmas, etc. It is only that we fail to realize His command as such, for we are lost in haume, anyhow, His hukum is infinite just as His greatness, so we can never ever decribe it .
Sat Sree Akal.
What I meant by Hukam is also based on karam. Its similar to what you said.Let me give an example if a person insults someone who is handicapped and does bad things to him then it is in Hukam that the mean person should be born as a handicapped person.

Perhaps there is Vaheguru’s Hukam that regulates EVERYTHING in all of creation, and within this Hukam there is Satguru’s Hukam in the form of Gurbani ,Gurithihaas, Anubhav Gian, that is meant for guiding lives of Gursikhs.
Perhaps Hukam can be understood differently according to our own avastha. For those still living in duality, there is free will, while those who are merged will see all as predetermined Hukam.
For example, there is “ everything that happens is in His Hukam”. This to me feels like the overarching Akaal Purakh Vaheguru’s Hukam that runs the whole show.
Then you have “It is Guru Ji’s Hukam that we rise early and meditate on His Name”.
You also get “Guru sahib sent a Hukam for the sangat of Kabul for such and such actions”. Which seems like a time specific Hukam(order).
With this differentiation, I suppose we are all in Vaheguru’s Hukam regardless of our actions, while having a choice to follow Guru’s Hukam for a Gursikh life.
Hanji that is true too. That we can only go to Gurudwara Sahib or wake up in the early hours during Amritvela Sahib by Hukam. However, it is our choice if we want to go to Gurudwara Sahib and end up talking to others or if we go to Gurudwara Sahib and learn something so that we can apply it in our daily lives.

So these things happen outside of Hukam?
Disclaimer: please don't be scared of the question.
Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
Hanji veerji bad crimes happen out of Hukam most of the time except for some cases. For example in the autobiography of Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh ji, Bhai Sahib mentioned that in his previous life he was a prince and one day when he went to a cave he saw a very old person meditating.I can't remember the exact story now but basically what happened is Bhai sahib tried to put food in the meditating guy's mouth and ended up breaking one of that guys teeth. In return the meditating person came out of his meditation and got angry as he was disturbed and took a weapon and aimed it at Bhai Sahib but it ended up in Bhai Sahib's bodyguard's leg.So in next life the bodyguard took Janam again and shot the Meditating Guy who also took Janam again. He shot him in the leg as well.So these kinda of things are more of Hukam as they are more of Hisab. Where it has to be balanced.
Hope I helped

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
Nice topic. If I'm not wrong Hukam is the following things
When we are supposed to be born
Where we are supposed to be born
How long we are supposed to live
Who our family is
Everyone we meet in our life as we have some Lehna Dehna with them.
What we are supposed to eat
Where we are supposed to travel.
How we are supposed to die
And more things like that.
The example you gave above of the Child dropping into a well. That is Hukam as that is a problem and an experience he is supposed to go through but we cannot say that just because its Hukam we cannot help.We should still do our part and help. Now if it is in Hukam to die then no matter how much we try he will drown, but that does not mean we do not try.Hope I make sense.
Another thing I would like to add on is that people doing bad things and crimes are not Hukam. If they are to meet with bad company that is Hukam, but we can simply choose to make them into out Sangat or to make them into hi bye friends. For example i had a childhood friend who was friends with me for years. Then one day he noticed that my beard has started growing so he told me that I should cut it.I told him no 2 times. Then the 3rd time I told him off that my Guru is more important than your opinion and since then I stopped talking to him as a friend.Whenever I see him I just say hi and bye.Now it was Hukam for me to meet that person but it is my choice if I want to mix with him and cut my beard or if I ignore him and keep my beard.
Thankfully i ignored him and continued keeping my beard.
Hope I helped a little

17 hours ago, kaur said:Sat Sri Akal Sangat ji,
I would like to discuss about something that was kind of bothering me from long time..
When I was young, I used to spend time with my Naani ji, she was always into watering and keeping food for birds..
She used to live in a pind so they had buffaloes, cows at home. She was always making sure all those animals were comfortable.. in Winter she used to put a nice bonfire around them and all..
I started liking it and doing with her.. My naani ji passed away but passed away but I still visit that pind to feel her presence..
Anyway.. coming to the present.. I love birds... I keep food for them, watch them chirping, eating and it make me smile..
Last year, me and my husband ( who is also in love with animals) got a dog and we love that addition to our family..
Now, my question is ...is it okay to love animals and birds??
My mother in law doesn't really like it that I get excited for dogs and birds.. other family members also agree with her.
I love watching birds, playing with dog and loving them... I kind of argue with them... animals can't even talk and tell us their pain/hunger.. If not a lot, atleast I can do this little for them..
Then I ask her why she doesn't like it.. She said if we will have love for these animals and birds, we are going lower than this human form... I didn't really understand..
Then she explained in details to me '' we are here as humans to love God who is the higher form and if you spend so much of your time with animals and creatures then you won't have enough time for God... and that will put you down...you will go lower...coz animals are lower than humans''
I never understood it fully.. she is a Radha Soami follower..not sure if she has this her own thinking or got from those satsangs..
I believe in Gurbani only as I have experienced it all and feels real... I do my naam simran not on regular basis but I try to listen paath and Kirtan whenever I can... so I don't realy follow their path anyway..
But my really concern is.. is that true about loving animals?
Now every time I play with my dog, she comments'' oh you had good time with your friend'' and other funny things she would say to make me feel wrong..
I get lost and wonder if she is right or it is okay to have some love for birds/animals because I always believed that are also part of Waheguru..
Please Sangat ji...give me your feedback..
WAHEGURU
Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
It is perfectly fine to love animals. In the puratan times the Singhs would keep horses with them and Guru Sahib had his eagle too.If we put animals below us we will start to get Hankar that Humans are everything and that we are the highest and this is wrong. We should treat everything alive as beings of Vaheguru Sahib Ji.However what your mother said is partially correct.Do not get too engrossed into taking care of Animals that you forget everything else.Do take care of the Animal but while doing it do simran or moolmantar
Nanak Satgur Bhaettiai Pooree Hovai Jugath
O Nanak, meeting the True Guru, one comes to know the perfect way.
Hasandhia Khaelandhia Painandhia Khaavandhia Vichae Hovai Mukath
While laughing, playing, dressing and eating,he is liberated.
