  1. a foolproof and amazing plan at that bhagat90
  2. or find a singh that owns a hotel and raid it...
  3. I was not criticizing you my chota veer. I was just telling you to be careful of what you say, because you may not know the whole story. Why not try to talk to the man?
  4. No Mr. Singh J.Kerry and J.Fallon are two different things. J.Kerry first of all, was NOT joking, and he is a political figure. Mr. Fallon on the other hand WAS joking, and he is a comedian. He gets paid to make people laugh. No, this is not the future of American Sikhs. I have myself been a victim of racism and ignorance in the COURT ROOM by a JUDGE! I have helped to fight many kirpan cases in Cleveland, OH and have been involved with SMART on many occassions. I just feel that this isn't the greatest of our worries.
  5. Kandola veerji, I feel that you have acted very insensitive towards this man who is mentally handicapped. He may be suffering from dementia, or another neurological related disease. It is not his doing, and he cannot control his actions sometimes. Maharaj understands that and will not punish him for what he does. Maharaj knows all, and Maharaj created the man that way. Please show some sympathy for people like that and try to help them. Don't ridicule them and put yourself on a higher plateu claiming that they are crazy and disrespectful to Guruji. This just may have been a test for you, to see how you react to one of God's children.
  6. Mr. Singh, calm down. I don't believe that Mr. Fallon meant to be personally insensitive towards Sikhs. It is the time and atmosphere of that city that brought the comedy and skit to air. They talk about real things, and frankly, that's probably what a lot of talk shows are like. Go stop all the talk shows out there in the world. I dare you.
  7. Everyone just needs to chill. Personally, I thought it was funny because I have been watching SNL my whole life and Jimmy Fallon is a hilarious guy. Sure, you should call SNL and tell them it was insensitive towards many Sikhs, but are you gonna do that everytime someone cracks a joke at a Sikh? Wait, don't answer that... Anyways, Fallon tried to explain in the skit that Sikhs are not Arabs, he did that pretty well. He also said that that was horrible what the weatherman said about "Sanji" blowing up NYC. Seriously, I think many people know about Sikhs now because we have been in the spotlight for so many things. Now with Manmohan Singh becoming the PM of India, I think we will get even more recognition and respect in America. So, in the end, you should take everything with a pinch of salt. Just chill, and don't blow things out of proportion. I know I'm going to get flamed for this post, but what can I do. We have many hot heads on this forum, including myself, and we just need to chill.
  8. CNN QUESTION OF THE DAY! Created: Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 17:20:37 EST Did Sonia Gandhi make the right decision by not accepting the Prime Minister's job? Yes 63% 2135 votes No 37% 1273 votes Total: 3408 votes BOLE SO NIHAL! SAT SRI AKAL! America and the rest of the world is with the decision for a Sikh to be PM! http://www.muller-godschalk.com/
  9. http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/05/1...tics/index.html Singh now set to be Indian PM NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- A topsy-turvy day in Indian politics has taken a new twist with Manmohan Singh now again likely to be the next prime minister after senior Congress party officials appeared to fail in their bid to convince Sonia Gandhi to take the job. Members of a key Congress committee submitted their resignations in an effort to persuade Gandhi to reverse her decision to decline the post of leader of the world's biggest democracy. It is not clear who resigned but Gandhi ignored the tactic and also protests by thousands of disappointed supporters and stood by her decision, senior Congress sources said. Gandhi on Tuesday "humbly declined" the job as prime minister, instead nominating former finance minister Singh. Both Gandhi and the 71-year-old Oxford-trained economist are expected to meet Wednesday with India's President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to stake Singh's claim to form a government. (Singh profile) "We are in the process of making a decision. There is a large body of opinion that would like Sonia Gandhi to become prime minister but recognizing that it might not happen would look at whoever she is pointing to and that looks like Dr. Singh," Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyer told CNN. But Aiyer told CNN that Gandhi would still be closely involved at the top level despite her not being prime minister. "She's the queen, she is appointing a regent to run some of the government's business. But it is she who will be in charge," he said. "Sonia Gandhi is going to be a key element in the building of any consensus for the basis on which a democratic prime minister has to make his decisions." Shops closed down across India on Wednesday as part of a campaign to persuade Gandhi to become prime minister, and thousands of supporters have gathered outside her home in New Delhi to encourage her to accept the position. (On the scene) Congress president Gandhi withdrew her name as a candidate on Tuesday. In her speech on Tuesday, the 57-year-old Gandhi told shouting supporters she was listening to "my inner voice, my conscience," when she decided not to bid for the job of prime minister. (Gandhi declines PM post) While some supporters were angry at Gandhi's withdrawal, others maintain her key goal as leader of the Congress was to topple the Hindu nationalists. The Italian-born Gandhi has long had reservations about taking the top post, and she stayed away from politics for more than a decade after the death of her husband, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. But through her leadership, the Congress delivered one of the biggest upsets in India's political history, claiming victory over the ruling Hindu nationalists last week. The nation was shocked by Gandhi's decision, but stocks rebounded from a dramatic crash on Monday. Shares rose 2.65 percent to close at 5006.10 -- a nick above the psychologically-important 5,000 level. Wednesday's rally followed what Indians have dubbed "Black Monday," when stocks plummeted 11 percent, in the Mumbai exchange's biggest pounding in its 129-year history. Investors had thought a pro-labor, anti-privatization communist-backed coalition could slow or halt reforms in Asia's third-largest economy. 'Inner voice' Congress sources said Gandhi -- a Roman Catholic born in Italy -- was tired of personal attacks from Hindu nationals over her faith and heritage and thought the par ty might be more successful with a different leader. "By choosing to humbly decline to take up the prime minister's post she has played a masterstroke, " the Indian Express said. "She has neatly disarmed her political opponents of the one weapon they had opted to use against her." Some reports have suggested her children encouraged her to drop out, fearful of the risk involved in taking such a high profile position. Gandhi married into a family that dominated Indian politics since independence from Britain in 1947. Her mother-in-law, Indira, ruled the country until her assassination in 1984. Her son, Sonia's husband Rajiv, was killed in a suicide bombing two years after losing power in 1989. Others suggest Gandhi pulled out after communist allies said they would only support her coalition from the outside, potentially making it difficult for her to form a stable government and pass legislation. -- CNN's Ram Ramgopal, New Delhi Bureau Chief Satinder Bindra and producer Suhasini Haidar contributed to this report

Dear Khalsa Jio, Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! The Sikh Youth Federation, USA, would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming 10th Annual Gurmat-Oriented Sikh Youth Leadership Retreat. The Retreat will take place at the Environmental Education Center from May 28-31, 2004. You are expected to arrive on Friday, May 28, 2004 between 5:00PM to 8:00PM; and depart on Monday, May 31, 2004 at 1:00 PM. The registration fee is $100.00(US) and is due by April 30, 2004. This retreat is geared towards Sikh youth across North America who are genuinely interested in strengthening their Sikhi and increasing their knowledge. The intent is to foster a spirit of lifelong learning and a dedication to leading the Sikh Panth. We humbly request you to join us in what promises to be an enlightening event. By participating in various interactive workshops, engaging debates, inspirational speakers, Kirtan Diwans and open discussions, we will explore several avenues of Sikhism and what the lifestyle of a Gursikh ought to be. Learning how to live in accordance with Guru Ji's teachings and providing an environment that supports the learning of Gurmat will be at the heart of this year's experience. With your active participation we hope to achieve these goals and explore the many facets of Sikhism. 2004 will mark a number of special occasions for Sikhs – namely, the transformation of Guru Sahib from physical form to spiritual text; and the Holocausts of June and November 1984. Therefore, the theme of this year’s Retreat will be “Remember & Resilience” – a reminder of the obstacles and battles Sikhs have had to face, and how we have overcome. Other sessions will focus on the subjects of Human Rights in Punjab, Social Activism and Sikhs in the World Wars. We will also examine the first Parkash of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This year, we will also celebrate Sikhs in film by inviting 4 - 5 up-and-coming documentary filmmakers to share their work and experiences. As well, we will hear first-hand testimonies from witnesses and survivors from the June invasion of the sacred Harimandar Sahib and the November anti-Sikh massacres. Directions to the campsite, necessary instructions and a description of the workshops are below. An information packet will be mailed/emailed to you upon receipt of your registration. If you will be flying, please reserve your flights to Cleveland early in order to receive the best rates, and contact me with your arrival and departure information. We look forward to seeing you. 19. That is a load of BS... now the US has just found Sarin gas in a artillery shell... coincidence? Is it a motive for the Bush campaign to push him into office and stop reporters from asking him about the chemical agents? Is this the smoking gun? Do you think the Bush camp planted this and is making it up? Come on guys, how far are we gonna go. The right wing or left wing is always gonna make up crap about the other. Muslims are going to make up crap against the Americans, and vice-versa. Nothing is safe... But, I would believe American news over this mish-mosh of Islamic propaganda.
