  1. I don't see how you can compare the SGGS to someone's dad Unless of course you see the SGGS to be on the same level as a human being!
  2. Lets just say someone does disrespect Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It's his/her own karma that's in question and the harm falls on that particular person. What business it is of anyone else's to get involved? Does Guru Ji really need our petty assistance? Do we need to fight Guru Ji's battles for Him? Are we really protecting Guru Ji (as if he needs OUR protection?!) or have we become so egotistical that we have now fallen into the trap of iron-clad prison houses of dogma and ritual filled religion? I thought Guru Ji is above all things material - above insult and indeed praise?
  3. Well you have to respect people's beliefs whatever they might be even if they are different to our own. There was of course the Sikh divide during the reign of Guru Tegh Bahadur's time and after Guru Gobind Singh Ji's death there arose two factions in the Sikh community - The Tat khalsa and the Bandai khalsa. Tat khalsa believing that the Adi Granth Sahib was to be Guru Ji forever and the Bandai khalsa who saw the Granth Sahib Ji as their holy scripture but held Maharaj Banda Singh Bahadur as their next Guru. To this day we still have the two factions within the Sikh community - those that see the Guru Granth Sahib Ji as their ultimate SatGuru and those who as well as having the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as their holy scripture, hold a human Guru as their ultimate SatGuru as was traditional Sikh custom and tradition. Whatever one believes is his or her belief. Who are we to judge? Let's leave that to Wahe-Guru, God, Rab, ParamAtma or whatever name we wish to call Him. I personally feel if we havn't got anything good or nice to say, not to say anything at all. Everyone thinks that 'their' path is best. If it is great if not then great maybe that person through God's grace may come to the straight path. Love and Peace, regardless of people's beliefs/colour of skin/caste/religion/clothes sense(!) I'm sure Love to all our fellow human beings, peace, anand and shaanti are the ideals we are meant to be working towards hunna? Live and let live I say - no need to attack people - it's funny how intolerant some sikhs can be to people with slightly different beliefs to their own - they almost become the attacking moghul army hell-bent in making other people's lives a misery by imposing their own mariyadas and rules etc etc. Love and Peace to All!!!! Darshan Ki Fateh. Jo Bhole, So Nihaal. Sat Shri Akaal.
  4. Hi - sorry no disrespect intended. Disrespect I feel is borne in the mind and hearts of people - not in mere words or outward shows. Some may call the holy scriptures: Akali Huzur Maharaj Sri Guru Granth Sahib Khalsa Ji. Now this may seem 'wow' and look good on the eyes with apparent 'respect' but if in the heart and mind there is little respect what is the use of such fancy words? Apologies for the lack of technical ettiquete though, I'll bear the sensitivities of my brothers and sisters in mind for the future. Darshan Ki Fateh _/|\_
  5. WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Dimple, this is one of those cases where the fools of this world will continue to attack and discriminate people's beliefs regardless. It has been the trend in history that there will always exist unreasonable people who will not leave others alone in peace. Guru Sahib Ji has warned us of these dangers in society and I think we should heed this advice. Guru Ji's have always been ridiculed. Guru Nanak Dev Ji and every Guru Ji after him were ridiculed as Guru Ji's are ridiculed today by the ignorant masses. It is only the minority with the exceptional humility who are fortunate enough to find their Sat-Guru. In the time of Guru Nanak Dev Ji it was the so called Hindus who ridiculed him accusing him of distorting religion and dividing people while never givinging him the time of day to just sit and listen to his words of wisdom divine. Today you find the so-called Sikhs accusing the Guru Ji's of the exact same thing - distorting Sikhism etc etc who again do not give these Mahatmas the time of day to actually sit and listen to their teachings. Dimple that is so true! If you havn't got any good to say to someone don't say it! Why can't people understand that! The world would be a much better place!!!!
  6. liveandlietlive had said: "The Sikh's Supreme Authority has banned this practice of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being taken to places where there is alcohol, tobacco or meat served." In that case why isn't the SGGS taken out of the hundreds if not thousands of houses where there is serving of alcohol/meat at home?
