  1. "And obviously, not supporting AKJ doesn't make one a nang. That's just absurd. " hehehe please don't lie r.singh. or at least do it with some style.
  2. I believe it is a Sikh cause to help those that cannot help themselves, such as through feeding people, providing clothes, education, marriage costs etc, medicine, and all those things necessary to life. In daya, (compassion) to people with less than us we are helping out true Sikh Causes as a Sikh believes in Sarbat dha Bhalla. B) For things like camps and activities, this money should really go out of our own pockets, the daswandh I believe is for the needy. For me that is, we all think differently.
  3. hehe amardeep singh is there not one gurdwara in your pind? Or should that be city? If there is then don't feel the pressure or responsibility for the Gurdwara, as I know, Committee members are very good at getting you to feel guilty and making you feel that all your daswand should go to the Gurdwara. :T: We must think and be aware that if there are already 5 gurdware in my city, then is there really a necessity for another? Or are we just dividing the community with things such as Ramgharia Gurdwara, just around the corner from a big main gurdwara? Plus Amardeep Singh, you do not realise, Indian folk do not care whether you are a guy or a girl, they will try to scam you no matter who or what you are. Trust me on this. :|
  4. The thing is, I wouldn't give my daswand to the Gurdwara anyway, because, yeh, they make the place more comfortable for us, but we are pampered enough already without us giving ourselves money and giving committees money. The daswand also I think shouldn't be given willy nilly to any charitie because sometimes you find the money doesn't go to where it was intended (when u donated). :T: Having said this, of course all charities are not like this, but my daswand, I would like to wait until I go to India, and see if there is some way to help the underprivaledged, in simple ways like distributing clothes, education money, marriage money. Or failing that, help out the NSPCC, because children, to me, are very dear. I always feel in a way, if we're helping people then why not help those in india who are even poorer than the poorest man in Britain because at least here, I have not heard of families dying for lack of food. And even out of that i would want to help the womens organisations in a land where women are not given a voice, even today.
  5. Yeh, seva is the important thing, although I don't think there are those kinds of restricitons in UK since whenever our lot gave the langar to the shelters they were happy with it. B)
  6. I am surprised that this thread recieved no replies on this forum, especially since it is a message about something so fundamental in our Gurdware and Sikhi, the feeding of homeless. What does everybody think to setting up an organisation where left over langar is given to the homeless every day, after all it is only thrown away or down the langar gobbler machine. (you know what I mean, that machine with the red and green switch) good idea?
  7. lol hadd torr singh COULD you find any pics even older than these? hehe
  8. Please carry on guessing... hahahahahahahahaha
  9. Oh this thread is too funny....I'm almost killing myself laughing...
  10. we're too interested in fighting between ourselves than educating each other. Whats the point of trying to teach about bani and Hari when we can't even tolerate each other and we get people so caught up in what other people believe they forget what Gurbani teaches...love for all. The problem here is not the girls converting to islam, its the treatment they suffer when the people turn out to be criminals.....half of it is, in Sikhism we pretend we promote eqality and all that, but when it comes to self defence, instead of encouraging girls to learn, you got people trying to shut down places just because they do not believe the person teaching has the right to believe what he likes. I have a solution...self defence should be compulsory for all girls, a daily practice lesson should be done. Forget what you want others to believe, try to learn something without prejudice, and girls can be empowered. I want girls to be strong enough with enough strategy and stamina (please girls..invest in some proper kare) to be able to get out of a situation where 5 guys might be trying to rape her. Many "sikh" guys however would not want that because it exposes their wimpishness. @
  11. Thanks Bikramjit...so you have to be sure that these people are actually nihangs first...then you can call them nang..yes? Er...however...it sounds like nindia to me. On the net how is it possible to dertermine whether someone is being anti nihang and anti nihang maryada? They could be just joking for all we know, yet I have seen people merge net (aka cyber world) with the real world and come to the conclusion that those that post answers on the net that are against nihangs must be nangs...... thus forgetting the reality gap between net and world. Do you get me? It is confusing.
  12. erm...why are you all so insistent that u are sikhs, yet try to ban someone as soon as they say something not to your liking....peeps, this is not real life.....ban or no ban, Sikhs are usually tolerant individuals...or are meant to be...
  13. hello everyone, recently I've been reading a post in which alot of references were made to nang....and I don't know what it means, I asked bikramjit singh who hasn't answered (he seems to use it alot) ..but he may not have seen the question! er...what is a nang? I thought it was someone who is dressed up as a nihang, but secretly hates and disrespects their maryada but I have since seen people who are not admitting to being nihang using this term...so what is it? and how do you come to the conclusion that someone is a nang in your eyes :T: this is for everyone. B)
  14. jagjit_waheguru that is very admirable of you, but surely if you believe in a maryada then you believe in it wholly and fully, not chopping off bits that are not to your satisfaction...you see it is very easy to say that the sgpc is corrupt, and I believe you, but then why accept the rehitnama made by them...and not only does it support meat eating..but chatka. I am looking for a rehit to follow, I will not just take amrit and believe whatever suits me, I want a rehit that is unchanged since Guru Ji's times..... not one made up after Guru Ji passed away...I'm sorry if this offends people, but these are just my views, I do not suggest that anyone should follow my views. I think Guru Ji is watching us all hating each other in disbelief and is probably dissapointed that his Sikhs couldn't even get the first thing right...about hukum, as Vaheguru wills it, so will the person live, whether they look like turban wearers, or whether they have their hair open...I believe God is in all, yet nowadays we have even amritdhari people thinking they have the right to hate the next man.
  15. oh right, do you believe in the sgpc maryada then? :T: They say you can eat meat, do you eat meat?
  16. Balwinderkaur! I did not say I agreed with Bhai Chaupa Singh, I posted that because a reference was made about him and I belive if you believe in a rehitnama then you believe in the whole one without chopping and changing what was said...therefore my comment that I'm not really sure about bhai chaupa singh's rehitnama. Please don't make assumptions about me and my beliefs, I never said I agreed. Yes I have read asa di //.
  17. Also one other thing, I think there are some ladies connected with Guru Ji with the name Kaur in their name, and just as some hindu raja hill chiefs used to have the name singh (cause it was royalty) I think some ladies must have had the name Kaur because they were actual aristocracy or princesses! Just a note.
  18. Oh yey! someone who knows what they're talking about! B) Whats prem sumarag? umm since Bhai chaupa Singh said some stuff I don't agree with, I don't know if I want to believe in his rehitnama, but prem sumarag sounds promising! Can you please elaborate what it is and who wrote because I never heard of it!
  19. Yeh! Dhan Guru Sahiban is hazar nazar ( i believe) so wherever you do your ardas, he should hear it alright, if you really want to mutha tek to something at home, u can mutha tek to your kara or other shastar as the form of Pritham Bhagauti Akaal Purkh Vaheguru Ji. After all Guru Ji is king of kings!
  20. Plus doesn't Bhai Chaupa Singh say women can't read from Sri guru Granth Sahib Ji in a congregation and at the time of her menses, women can't cook or serve langar?
  21. Khalsa Soulja with all due respect theres no need for you to dispell doubts u may think I have, all I want is the truth. The question of Bhai Mati Das having taken amrit is not a concern of mine, whether he did or didn't, I'm not worried about it, I want to know about the ladies of Guru Ji's times. Also amrit in bani means lots of things, it means gurbani itself, naam simran, and also the amrit that is created inside once enough gurbani has been read. I believe that Bhai Gurdas Ji could be talking about lots of things, especially as in his times it must have been charna dha amrit if the physical taking of amrit was what he was talking about. Khalsa soulja, if you do not have the knowledge, then please leave it up to those that have as it is to those I direct my questions. B) Couldn't singhnee also be one who is married to a singh? Or Sikhni as one who believes in Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Ji, even when the chalee mukti went home after deserting their Guru the wives of these Sikhs could be termed either Sikhni or Singhnee couldnt they? I don't want to be made to feel silly for asking for evidence where claims have been made, isn't sikhi meant to stand up to q uestions especially those regarding sacred amrit. Surely someone on this site has done research about this? Bikramjit? Amritdhari Singhnees? Khande de pahul for ladies, thats the topic. :
  22. And I'm FED UP with this lack of evidence!! If theres one thing I have learnt in Sikhi, it is never just assume things, where is equality given? The whole basis of this argument is about amrit, "sikhism teaches equality because amrit is given to both men and women" but.....wheres the women bit? Please back up assumptions...with credible evidence, at least then I can say to others when they ask me.
  23. er...why would sant attar singh ji go against kirpan dha amrit if thats how Guru Gobind Singh Ji (or the panj piare) gave it??? Its like saying Baba Budda Ji was against charn dha amrit..... and we don't even know much about charn dha amrit, let alone absolutely NOTHING about kirpan dha amrit or any amrit for ladies, it just doesnt seem to exist beyond mata bhaag kaur!!!! @
  24. Thankyou Khalsa Soulja, however, I think that women who were blessed with amrit at the hands of Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji would have made a note of it somewhere, or even their ancestors would have done. Where are the descendents of Guru Ki mehals? Much is made of history being lost, but much history still flourishes, out of that, surely there must be some mention of amrit for women. I don't get it, I'm asking to those that have had the time to research the old articles, scriptures, books. This is a big fundamental thing is sikhism, surely there must be a rehitnama Mata Sahib Kaur Ji would have written for women? Does anyone know of this?
  25. The original question I beleive was about kirpan dha amrit, on the other forum a man named amrit has said he has seen the amrit being given at Hazoor Sahib. :T: I myself am someone who has always held this takht in high esteem, and apparently they still do things the way they used to be done, ie have not changed with the times. However a question was aksed about proof of women being given amrit in general, and on that site no such proof has been given. Is there documented evidence for women being given amrit by Guru Gobind Singh Ji? As I myself am interested in taking amrit, this question means alot to me. I dont just mean Mata Bhag Kaur Ji, I mean the Guru's own mehals, mother, Sikh women. :
