  1. Our schedule has changed somewhat. Dharm Kaur Khalsa will be replacing Bikramjit Singh. And the Gatka time will be longer than previously scheduled.
  2. Bikramjit Singh - Gurmat Centre Gurminder Kaur Santbir Singh Navneet Kaur - Guru Nanak Academy Tejinder Singh from the Guru Nanak Academy will also be giving a smaller speech on the jeevan of Bhai Parminder Singh Jee and how it relates to the conference topic (leadership). There will also be 2 skits - One by the SFU SSA, and one by Khalsa School kids. The Guru Nanak Academy's Gatka Akhara will also be putting on a presentation, much like they did last year!!! :umm:
  3. Only a little over a week until the conference! :umm: We expect all SikhSangat members from around Vancouver to come! <_<
  4. BUMP. If anyone has suggestions for speakers, e-mail us at sikhiunleashed@yahoo.ca or PM us.
  5. I know this is a cheap plug, but Navneet Kaur is going to be one of the speakers at our annual conference. February 5th, 2005!
  6. We don't know FOR SURE yet. We'll have a final list of speakers confirmed within a few weeks. Three speakers almost for certain will be Jatinder Singh (Gurmat Centre), Santbir Singh, and Navneet Kaur (Guru Nanak Academy) Tejinder (TJ) Singh from the academy will also give a smaller speech on how Parminder Singh's life exemplified leadership. The speakers list is not set in stone yet, and we're still looking for one additional speaker.
  7. This post will be bumped numerous times between now and February 5th!
  8. Yeah! Everyone attend that Keertan. And our's too! Our Keertan is taking place on Campus (at UBC) on November the 4th, in the Student Union Building, on the second floor. We know, we know..... bad timing. But rest assured, its not an Ektha thing, just a bookings thing. Members from UBC SSA will be attending the SFU Keertan and vice versa. We hope others attend as well. For any information about the keertan, e-mail sikhiunleashed@yahoo.ca.
  9. We hope to see as many as possible at the Annual Sikh Conference at UBC on January the 18th!
  10. The mentoring program is currently being folded into the mentoring program of the new organization - VIRSA. It's a coalition against Youth violence, etc. We're really trying to aim more directly at "normal" Punjabi Youth. But it is hard to do that at times while still maintaining a "pro-Gurmat" atmosphere!
  11. Hunjee Bhainjee, You are right. UBC SSA has had an annual conference for the past 20 years except last year (2003). The last conference was in March 2002 on Sikh art. We didn't have a conference last year because we devoted more of our resources to starting a mentoring program for troubled Punjabi Youth in particular Punjabi-dominated High Schools. This year we decided to carry on the mentoring program as well as the Annual Conference. B) Little known fact! The SSA at UBC is the oldest Sikh Student organization in North America. Started in 1984.
  12. The conference is fast approaching! Be sure to attend!! EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME.
  13. Thanks for the Reminder to attend the Conference 'waheguroo' jee! It should be a really good conference.
