  1. I second that and am waitiing for the reply  As the hippys used to say in the 60's "Legalize Love man" hahaha Sometimes people go "too far" and are swept away by their manmat. Veerjee that doesnt mean Gurujee went around hating this 2 persons .Gurujee is always loving and if these people had truly repented ,begged forgiveness and realised their folly they would have been forgiven. Hope, and, the chance to change, is with you till the final moment of your life. Thats our job/responsibility as Gurujee's children to do parchar, parchar ,parchar. Read my long post i posted after the last you posted before you posted this post. As to what someone just posted about ego, ask any true chardikela Sikhs you know and they will tell you battles with ego are never won in a day , and bad habits can take a while to die . The good news is once you take to Gurujee's sharan and He holds your hand then as Gurbani says '' belharee gur apne deoharee sad vaar ,jinh manas te devteh kieh ,kert na lagi vaar''. As you get involved in the Game of Love with Gurujee, slowly but surely, an angel is carved out of you , and you will become a living monument to God's glory and Holy Power.
  2. hahaaa well done papi! so now we all know who is the hidden hunk amongst us hahaaaa. bibiyaaa take note hahaaaa . ok im convinced so im hiring you rightaway as my personal fitness trainer hahaaa and i pay well too hahaaa . deso jee kina paisa chahida , tuhanu hunno toh hi 'hire' kar lea . Leh vekho mauja Guru di Fauj dia vah vah.......reho naujawan ,hovo balwan ateh taktvaan, ao jitieh sara jehan, jeet payieh mahan, fateh Guru di karo parwan, jhulda rahe khalseh da nishan, japdeh rehieh Guru da Naam, ateh Shree Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj deh cherna vich sada parnaam . Anyway, the purpose of my reply was to give an overall general advice on body building ,i.e to balance out and include different things in a good sound recipe that works with realistic goals based on my and the experience of many of my m8s who go to the gym and are trained fitness and personal indoor and outdoor trainers. At the end of the day once a person does start going committedly to the gym ,sooner or later he starts understanding how it all works as he reads more and discusses more on this subject . My point concerning veeerjee's desire to 'just wanting to put on some muscles'' was that you need to look at this holistically and understand that gym training has got many different elements. I do stand by my point that just wanting to look bulky with lots muscles all over you can be unsafe as any doctor will tell you . Firstly it means all the more weight to carry around exerting more pressure on yur heart and more importantly , when you slack and take a break due to various pressures and distractions in your life, all of that becomes flabby . Hence its safer to focus on an overall objective of have a strong , toned ,agile , flexible and fit body with very good cardio vascular . And i will say this again ,its always good to make an effort to throw in some swimming, aerobics, cycling, ,aquarobics ,gymnastics, martial training, when you are doing weight training, and the results speak for themselves. One of my lodgers/tenant , a 24 year english guy in my house, is a trainer's trainer in kayaking ,mountain climbing and rock climbing (even trains the army lads in mountain climbing) . This guy does not do any weight training but just those 3 activities full-time have made his body as hard as a rock wherever u punch him and yet he is as flexi as a piece of string. He doesnt stand out as a 'muscleman' but yet he is one of fittest ,toughtest ,strongest , and physically most confident of guys i have met without an inch of fat anywhere on his body. But....as they say.... to each his own. I am no 'fitness guru' but i have done quite a few 'simple squats' and was only trying to share my humble knowledge and experience in a way that wouldn't mislead or harm.
  3. We are puppets of the puppetier and He is the master, so all credits goes to Him. But please dont stone me... Anyway, i am from Malaysia.... Aye you from malaysia? gr8!!!! I have many gursikh friends there-Hari Singh(gurudwara council),Malkit Singh(SNSM),Sukhdev Singh(dashmesh),Jasvinder Singh(niketan), Autar Singh, Gyani Mohinder Singh, the gyani from Titiwangsa gurudwara , and the wisma gurudwara ,petaling jaya gurudwara(lakhbeer singh) etc etc etc)but tell us more . How you got inspired ???-thru niketan?SNSM? SSS?KHALSAJEE?SAMELANS? ,tell us your journey so far? The Sikhi-wards journey of your life. I can never understand one thing and that is with so many Sikh IT experts in Malaysia , why no samelan ever gets broadcast live for young Sikhs around the world to benefit-that really baffles me). Btw i hope some jethas are still going to sabah n sarawak as well as sumatra for Sikhi parchar. Well you dint call yourself a stone this time so im not going to stone you no more hahaaa as u must be already very very 'stoned ' after all your amritvela simran hahaaaaaaa. You must av done a degree in geology to have an obsession with rocks and stones hahaaa . Lemme say this in your Malay language hahaa , jangan jadi batu, marilah kita bersatu hahaaaa . As to what Bandha and Sukhdeep Singh said, this thread started off with a question about the technalities of amritvela, not a questioning about its necessity. No one questions the given fact that in Sikhi we have been blessed with maryada and need to be obedient and disciplined and as elders would say be in a tyaar byaar state. However what i am saying is that becoming a rehitvaan amritdharee Sikh can sometimes happen instantly ,but at other times can be a process. A lot of what i struggled to do and to be in my teens and 20s comes naturally to me today after many years of fighting battles with my ego thru Guru's kirpa ,and likewise for others. A mango ripens slowly but surely. You know where you need to be, but each of us reaches there at varying times. Kirpa, karma, upao, gurmukha ki sangat all come together in magical ways to transform us on this path so we become better n better in rehit ,in amritvela ,in kirtan ,gurbani santhiya and arth etc with every passing day. As to those who give excuses, have strayed away , are in kurahit, etc etc all we can do is to step up parchar. It kinda baffles me how some Amritdharee youngsters today can be fast to condemn those who are falling away and stand up for maryada etc etc but are totally hopeless wen it comes to transforming yourself into an effective missionary and ambassador for Gurujee's Sikhi parchar , with all the modern technological skills they possess ----like computer knowledge ,how to use twitter ,face book ,compress and sending files ,using music, graphic design, media technology to do more n more n more parchar. When i was your age , i didnt sit at a computer and just preach about maryada to the already converted ,or go around showing a big disgust for those who are in 'dehndi' kela or bajjar kurahit or are back sliding or wotever!!!! Instead we got together and organised ourselves into keertan and parchar jethas, we pioneered Sikh socieities at universities ,coleges and schools ,we printed out comics and pamplets on Sikhism . We gave our hand to those who smoke or drink or take drugs or wotever and organised youth satsangs they could attend and samelansThere we tried to do parchar of Sikhi in the language they understood ,the vocabulary they understood . We showed them plenty of love and support and slowly helped to bring many many kurahe sikhs onto Gurujee's path thru Guru's grace. This is what my life has been about!!! not sitting at a computer and just passing big mullah type pronouncements on my big arm chair and passing death sentences and cursing the lifes of those who are strayed away! I remember once my jetha was on a tour to a town where the majority of Sikhs dint even know what Sikhism is anymore! On the way --ouchhhh a big thunderstorm came and on the main motorway the tyres of the big van carrying us skidded on a big oil spill that had become lethal with the rain . The van overturned ! Many of us got injured and were bleeding! But in chardikela power we got up, turned the van around and continued our journey singing bole so nihal sat sri akal! . And we reached on time ,and in our bleeding state we just wiped our wounds and sat to do keertan and strongly worded inspirational parchar b4 a big amount of people who you would condemn as monas or bajjar kurahiteeas because we were hell-bent on turning the tide of monism in the community. This is the spirit of Sikhi! A Sikh has got no time to spare judging others whether from his own race or any race. A Sikh is a man/woman busy in prayer, busy in parchar, busy in spreading the Word of Gurujee, busy in showing his love to the most sinful of men, busy looking after others, busy in expressing Guru-magic working within and around him/her to inspire and touch people's lifes in very meaningful ways. Everytime you feel tempted to argue with someone on this site and take a moral high ground ,instead start a new thread talking about something inspiring about your daily life that will make any non amritdharee visiting this site want to go to a satsang or read more about Sikhism ,or do an exegesis of the Vaak Gurujee gave you at amritvela , or talk about how what you heard/your inspiring experiences during the last time you went to a Gurudwara. And if you young and have knowledge of computers and exposure to modern multi media then think of ways you can use it to inspire others . Take pictures of your local Gurudwara ,of your family doing simran ,keertan together in your home , and post them on here. Make little files recording you talking something gurmat ,or doing keertan and post them on this site . Why hide your beautiful rehat filled disciplined life from others and just come on here to publish a few opinions about what you think is right. I keep repeating this but i run a business . In my business ,i employ many people. They are not allowed to sit idle and waste time passing judgements about what they think is right or wrong with this world. They have to work hard to earn their wages. They have to be happy, positive, friendly, hard working, responsible, and honest people. In return i reward them well and offer them all my support. I set similar standards as to my relationship with Gurujee. If someone wants to do bajjar kurehat and go to hell thats their problem not mine! But as long as such a person is within my radar, I am going to do my best to pester them with my love and continue to help them, giving them every chance to turn around and become chardi kela people. Infact im not even theorising. That is the simple short story of my life, manifested in many different situations with such people which i have spilled over on many different threads on this site not for my but Gurujee's glory . I take my inspiration, amongst others , from Bhai Sahib Bhai Veer Singh who spent his life never condemnining anyone, but writing spiritual antologies and poems and doing parchar, and printing inspirational pamplets and books and bulletins to do parchar of Sikhi, whilst living his own life as a chardi kela gursikh. I wish to tell you a little true story b4 i end this . A few years ago, a mona Sikh happened to pass by my shop and he saw and of course recognised me as a Sikh and asked me if the solicitors nxt shop to mine were open. I said no ,they are closed ,its a saturday. As he was standing at the door to my shop ,i said to him 'are you ok ,u looking for solicitors and you look trubled, why dont you come in and talk to me ,maybe i can help, come have a tea with me''. So he came in. He told me he had been beating his wife ,she kicked him out, and then he got involved in bringing back a white cocaine sniffing hooker/prostitute into his council flat. This prostitute stole everything he had and then reported him to the police for sexually molesting her. Now he had been kicked out from his flat ,had become homeless and was waiting to be sentenced. For many many afternoons, i made him sit with me , i made him realise that he had done wrong with his life and now only Gurujee could save him . He went to the local gurudwara ,told the gyani to help him do an ardas of forgiveness. Then as he was homeless he would sit in the park the whole day and night(summer time) and do simran and cry and do ardas. Ultimately, Gurujee took mercy on him ,his father-in-law forgave him ,his wife forgave him ,his children too wanted him back. Then one day as he was in my backyard, the solicitor came out there too and said ''O Attar singh , i wanted to phone you but you are here. i have good news for you .the woman has dropped all her charges against you and you are free now, you wont have to go to jail ''. This man is living a straight life now and his mobile phone is downloaded with gurbani shabads keertan that he listens to day and night ,plus he has now got a job too. So veerjees /bhenjees, stand up and do parchar . You are all ambassadors appointed by Gurujee. As gurbani says this is the season to sow . The fields are ready ,the seed is aplenty.
  4. harjit nanua stop calling yurself a stone ! hahaaaaaaaaaa .thats the 2nd time i have told you off hahaaaaaaaa . its making me visualise you as a stone not a human being! hahaaaaa . 3rd time you say and ill have to stone you!!!! to death!!! hahaaaaa . now be a good lad and tell us the inspiring story of your life . i'm waiting
  5. Yes ,if you research on the Ahmaddiya sect in terms of their activities in the punjab and what they have said about Sikhism ,you will find they have a record of being hell-bent to convert sikhs into muslims, even claiming that GurNanak was sum sort of a muslim 'saint' and Sikhism is kinda extension of Islam. There are detailed threads on this if you research into a few sikh websites . Anyway, on page 963 of SGGS there is a wonderful line which goes '' phirdeee phirdee Nanak jeeo hau phavee theeiee bohoth desavr pantha, ta hau sokh sukhalee sutee ja gur melh sajan meh ledha'' , i.e '' O (Guru) Nanak, rambling and roaming in many lands and religous paths, i had become crazy/confused. But since meeting Gurujee, i have found my True Friend, and now i sleep in peace and comfort''. Hence my point was not just about sum religous conversion but how through Sikhism your search ends because Gurujee is all you need ,helping you put away every other baggage and travel light. Gurbani says ''tehndee bandish meh koe na ditha, tu Nanak man bhana, ghol ghumai tes mitr vechola, jeh milh kant pechana'' (pg 964) , i.e '' Like thee O Lord (or O Nanak) , i have seen not another. You alone are pleasing to my(or Nanak's) mind . I am a sacrifice unto such a Friend the Divine Intercessor, meeting whom i have recognised my spouse(God)''. Thus as you get close to Gurujee your prayer becomes '' hbeh saak kuraveh ditheh ,toh pleh tehndeh lagee'' (I have realised/seen all other relationships as false ,and now i have attached myself to thy skirt of my Lord/Gurujee). My simple advice is now that you have discovered Sikhism , just stick to it and just let go of all your past . That keeps things simple and helps you move forward in your life than trying to reconcile with your past. You wont be the first person on earth doing that anyway .Over the last 500 or more years since Guru Nanak , loads of Muslims have become Sikhs as Sikhism is a beautiful ,simple to follow , uncomplicated ,non violent ,super-man creating religion based on simple concepts of naam ,dhan and ishnan and to be blessed with Amrit as well as to have Shree Guru Granth Sahib the most authorative ,pristine , beautifully worded through song , as your Guru. I run a business as you know and in it, sometimes i just have to stop everything from the past and start anew with a new simpler, easier to follow ,more beneficial,. more user friendly ,less bagge filled ,revolutionary ,radical ,more profitable concept or business strategy to survive . Sometimes i have to destroy an old building to reconstruct a brand new one if i wanna avoid going in circles trying to reconcile this with that . Prophet Mohammad did what he needed to do,1,600 years ago to unify warring hostile arab races in ways for which academics still argue their justification. Likewise, leaders from various Muslim sects put together cannot equal the power and majesty of Guru Gobind Singh and you are lucky that on earth today we have the Living Voice of God manifestating through our Eternal Shree Guru Granth Sahib the Living Word of God , The Eternal Guidance and Lord of all . Gurbani says in a straightforward way ''satgur aeo saran tuharee, mileh sukh naam har sobha chinta laeh hemari'' ,i.e O Satguru , i suurender and place myself in Your shelter. In return i receive peace ,happiness ,your power/naam/God's energy/nectar and all my worries are moved. So everything in the past ,be brave to say bye bye to it and what awaits you is one big surprise Believe me, you wont be dissapointed . Read those books i recommended and you will realise that you have not wandered into Sikhism by mistake ,but this is the greatest loving and most powerful gift God gave you,out of pity, for all that pain an innocent ,pure hearted loving person like you had to go through in the midst of all your vulnerabilities. This is your time to shine, your moment has arrived . Before you is Shree Guru Granth Sahib willing to hold your hand and save you forever ,look back and all you see is religion and relationships waiting to doom you. This is indeed the magic moment in the lengthy journey of your soul. And after writing all of this, im hungry now, so can you please email me some vegetable biryani rice, 2 pooris, tarka dall together with home made mango chutney ,not to forget some sewian pudding . hahaaaaaaaa -and oh --some home made khaju barfee. ( i think the bibiyaa on here need posting us starving veers some of your home made delights hahaaaa) .
  6. If you are going do weight training ,lets say 3-4 times/week training a different set of muscles in each section while the ones exercised in the previous day are in recovery , ... then do make sure you throw in a cple of 1 hr or 45 minutes aerobics/week ( which will b offered in the same gym) to achieve flexibility ,body tone and trimming fat, apart from cv exercises like the tread mill ,etc . Also do an hour of gymnastics in a specialist gymnastics gym/week to have good balance between left and right hemispheres of your body and suppleness To this add an hour of swimming , and an hour or two of martial training ,coupled with a healthy diet ,and read lots gurbani to stay humble as you shape up and thats a perfect recipe for a good healthy body . Wasnt sure why you said in your thread .... ''you guys ....'' as if you dont feel part of the family on here. And by 'guys did you mean everyone-male n female or only males . You said you wanted to 'add' muscle . In the initial stages, normally you tend to start losing fat(even if you are skinny) ,and tone/strengthen/firm up your existing muscles before you 'add' any muscle and that can take 6 mnths to a year or even more depending on your age. Ffrom a medical point of view its never to safe to have too much unnecessary muscle for a load of reasons , but better to focus on a lean but musculy, well toned, fit ,firm ,well carved , flexible , supple body . Alot depends tho to your committment to a low fat ,low carb, high protein diet enriched with vits and mins and plenty of adequate sleep . Depending on your age again, you may want to supplement with l-arginine/l-carnihine etc or a combi of the two.
  7. no i didnt . pls pm again .im waiting .i pm-ed you too after i wrote on here no ,im waiting .i pm-ed you after i wrote on here but no reply .pls pm me .
  8. All true but read my post thoroughly. Sikhism cannot be reduced to 'legalism ' of being nothing more than a set of do's and dont's, for which you are to be judged and either respected or condemned instantly. Sikhism revolves around the kirpa of Gurujee which then manifests itself in Guru inspired efforts and lifestyle/sikhi jeewan that flows naturally and spontaneously from a close relationship with Gurujee. Gurujee can take His time to put things in place for us in our life and getting close to Gurujee is a process, not a 'bang on, today this and tomorow that' thru our own ego centred efforts thing. Good habits take time to form and mature and Sikhi is a lifelong learning/improvement process . Yes, no one refutes with you about rehait namas and the importance of amritvela, etc but in the initial stages it can take some time to learn,to get used to , and adhere to a new Gursikhi lifestyle so your rehni/behni/kehni/sehni conform with Gurujee's wishes. This may not have been your experience, but it is indeed the usual experience of a whole amount of amritdharees i have known throughout the many long years of my life . And concerning those who claim to be one but are another, as i said before,as much as what they do can be painful, dont hate or look down upon them ,but do parchar , constantly challenge and inspire, educate them , and who knows when your parchar, Guru's kirpa and their good karma will come together at which stage of their life to change them . The hall mark of a Sikh is to be loving ,compassionate ,humble ,truthful, fearless , caring ,charismatic, encouraging ,creative ,dynamic , and helpful. In the long term, such qualities will draw and attract many to your way of life .to your mindset and to your company and they will want you to help them be an inspired rehatvaan Sikh as you are . But as in all things, you need patience. Gurujee is being patient as He untiringly helps you to be a better saint soldier and you need to be patient with others . Rome was not built in a day but it surely was ,Lanka was not destroyed in a day but it surely was .
  9. I'll pay for you thru Gurujee's keerpa if you wanna go, to cover all your costs .pm me please. We dont want you left out, do we hahaa. So please get in touch asap.
  10. any chance of a live broadcast ? that will help so many ppl all around the world to listen
  11. That's excellent!!! You brought out quite a few gurbani tukha that differentiate between the consciousness of the usual ordinary materialistic person, and a blessed gursikh, especially during the sleep cycles. A blessed gursikh's consciousness has started to get in tune with Naam ,resulting in a different kind of sleep. A gursikhi jeewan based on simran ,kirtan and gurbani results in this, sooner or later, through Gurujee's kirpa. So looks like in you, we have our own inhouse walking talking gurbani quotations reference library! hahaaa thats awesome and brilliant! And yes ,you are absolutely smashing right on sehaj paath. It really helps anyone to be familiar with the gyan and gurmat in SGGS that can totally revolutionise our life!
  12. 1)Someone on this thread wrote ''Amritvela is only for the strong, the weak best not apply for this, as they will waste this time and with no effort, fail'' That from a Sikhi perspective is not entirely right. Remember Guru Gobind Singh Jee says '' chirio seo meh baj leraoo'',i.e i can make normal little birds fight a big hawk. As the story of bhai bachittar singh and the intoxicated elephant tells, its in the power of Gurujee to pat the back of the weakest ,tiniest ,most miserable of all and empower them with power supreme to do the unimaginable . All effort has to originate from Gurprasad, never from your own ego. Hence any effort has to go hand in hand with God's grace. Sometimes when you start thinking 'you' are strong ,you start sowing the seeds of your downfall. On the other hand a weak person who does apply to Gurujee for help ,for power ,for strength , for kirpa ,for bakshish , for illahi preeet ,for amritvela ,for har ras , for prem bhavna ,for har jas ,for gursikhi jeewan ,for satsangat, for mercy ,for .... can get mega blessed by Gurujee. No matter how strong you are ,always say ''meh nirguniareh ,gun nehi koi appeh ters pioee, ters piah meh rahmat hoee satgur sjn milia,Nanak naam mileh ta jiwa tan man thiveh heria''. A 'weak ' Sikh is to be helped, held lovingly and encouraged to come to Gurujee ,not to be shunned or judged bad. You can start off as weak as you could, but never underestimate the power of Gurujee to turn a drug addict into a gyanee, a stutterer into a keertaneea , a lazy dopey fellow into a wiked chardikela energised gursikh who is 'sick sick sick ' n 'mad ' wiv Gurujee's love . 2)Another veer on this thread has commented that ''Furthermore Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which contains all knowledge is for everyobdy to learn from not a selcted clerical class. Unfortunately , many Sikhs believe knowledge is given to a selected few ( clerical priesthood) and they decide to listen to them instead of making their efforts to acquire knowledge themselves.'' Thats correct. However, Sikhi is not a lonesome journey like the lonely life of a leopord who only socialises wen its mating time. In Sikhi ,we learn from each other and those who have gone before us,as Gurujee is helping us carve out our own individual journeys towards Him. We cannot afford to just depend on the clergy but we do need to be making our own efforts to be even more informed ,inspired and more knowledgeable than the 'clergy'. Infact ,strictly speaking there is no heirarchy in Sikhism ,and the onus is on every Sikh to be able to read ,and understand SGGS, and share gurbani. W
  13. beautiful . that brought tears into me eyes. May Gurujee forgive us wenever we behave like Cassie. We so so need Gurujee and yet so easily spurn His love while He waits . Your story made me sad ,but simultaneously very hopeful, and reassured.
  14. Veer Ji , I think you are missing the point. Salvation should tried to be attained in this life not the next, and for one to attain salvation in this life it takes alot of effort. Our Soul is like a bird crying for the immortal drink. For many life times the mind which has been contolled by the Ego and has prevented this soul from quenching its sole desire to drink the immortal amrit. We have been born and dead many times. The atma wants to rest in immortal nectar. Because we have been deprived from this immortal amrit for many life times the soul is starving for this essence. Guru Sahib has called Amrit Vela amrit vela for a reason. This is the time Guru Jis darbar sahib ( Sach Khand) freely distrubtes Amrit to the crying souls. Those Varagis who wake up during this time their tongue has a strong desire to taste the immortal amrit. Its the same way our tongue craves the essence when we recite Amrit Bani. It is this Amrit which is the food for the soul. By not waking up for Amrit Vela we are only starving our soul from its essence. When ever we wake up for Amrit vela our Atma is in attendance in the holy darbar of Sach Khand which is our true home. Just think being in the holy darbar of Sach Khand with all the great saints. Every night when we recite Kirtan Sohila towards the end we always ask for the dust of the holy saints. We are really asking to be in attendance with the holy saints of Sach Khand where the atmic tongue drinks the Amrit of Guru Jis internal darbar. well said . you write very inspiringly . write more ,even write a book .ill be the 1st to buy it hahaaa . luv you my veer lol are you being sarcastic. Most of my friends tell me my words are less inspirational and more authoratative, haha. Especially my friend on this forum ( Waaheguru JI- screename) No veerjee , i dont believe in being sarcastic, but in being direct . i mean wot i said ,and i dont usually compliment to big anyone up. I dunno who your m8s are who told u ,you write less inspirational , but i can categorically tell you ,you defo write in a very creative ,inspiring ,intelligent ,fresh and imaginative manner. If you read all of professor puran singh's books, also bhai vir singh's works ,bhai nand lal's works ,couple of books by saint scholar naranjan singh ji , (apart from gurbani), and get wet wet wet wiv simran ,keertan and gurbani, it will help you even let go more, and be more mad, more ecstactical and more chardikela in your writings. So get on your computer and write write write . You have been blessed by Gurujee with the power of written expression and He wants to use you beyond your wildest dreams ,so i humbly beg you to go for it big time. As i said we luv you as our most precious Gursikh brother .
  15. if you go thru a few you tube vids around the net you'll find ways of securing yur keshkee/dumalla such that it doesnt come off no matter how much u toss n turn or move in bed . as you do more n more n more simran in ur life ull also find that wen u sleep ur mind sinks in such deep levels of consciousness such as 'delta' that you hardly move but sleep very still like a baby .
  16. a lot of gursikhs i know always have simran chant /sikh radio station /keertan on during the few hours they sleep. I am reminded of 'ghar ghar andar dharamsal ,hoveh keertan seda vesoa'' hence keertan/simran 24/7 except wen u relli cant e.g at work ,shopping etc is a good idea .
  17. i was not in anyway saying you sing 'monotonously ' haha .if you read my para carefully, i was making a point about how taan practises help to improve voice quality whether it is for you ,me or anyone else . Likewise, no one is asking you to sing with your mouth and not your heart .A point was being made about chest compression during singing. In singing you always try to stop somewhere for a micro second to quickly regain your breathe so u can continue louder and not fizzle ,akin to staying afloat when swimming. Generally speaking a good singer always keeps an eye out watching to make sure he is developing a good habit of 'opening ' not compressing his chest. You are young and talented and have a beautiful future ahead of you in your hobbies and ppl like me just wanna help you ,encourage and inspire you thats all . Nothing is ever said to put you down ,and in my case i share my Guru given knowledge with you to help you better yourself . We are a family here loving you and only wanting your best. Let me know what kind of sponsorship you need. ill do my best for you . Do tell us more of your exposure to sound engineering .Also post a picture of your home studio as it excites me. Do let me know if you need sponsoringor ideas for further education on this. Through Guru's kirpa i want to help any youth here in any way i can .
  18. Hehe you are wiser than me but anyway since you requested. To make the gurudwara ...a)help educate youths in sikhi b)make gurudwara more effective My views are as following, but im going to have to go back in time to paint a clear picture. The generation i grew up in( /late 50s/60s/70s)the gurudwaras were characterised by the following , a) a high understanding of punjabi and meanings of gurbani b) however ,it was also a time wen a big rot had started in gurudwaras i.e jaat paat/complacency/ money quarrels/quarrels for positions/materialisticness / compromise betwen religion and culture. c)a lot of illiterate people who otherwise were successful in money lending ,business etc were in charge of gurudwaras with a new generation growing up educated in english but lacking knowledge of punjabi and sikhi . For this generation gurudwaras became irrelevant, and a lot of this generation grew up becoming professionals etc and relegating sikhi as some minor irrelevant part of their inherited culture .the granthi started becoming more of a 'middleman' like a hindu priest , helping fix ceremonies for rites of passage like birth/marriage/death etc ,these becoming meaningless little understood rituals . d) gurudwaras started to operate as places to hold religous functions for rites of passage ceremonies rather than places for sikhi and punjabee learning . I remember my childhood consisted of going to a gurudwara every sunday morning either for sumone's death barsee or sumone's marriage , or an akhand paath bhog . e) granthees were educated in reading and singing gurbani ,not educated intellectually in understanding the different sources of sikh history, or the art of preaching or the art of ''pastoral theology ' etc etc. They were treated bad as some low level employee to be bullied , given little income , but were expected to life up to the highest standards of morality . their views were never sought ,and gurbani teaching was optional . gurudwaras were run as businesses, had huge bank balances in credit but very very unhygienic and dirty toilets . Against this background ,what is required is; 1)A radical shift in thinking about gurudwara management as the main agent of change to make gurudwaras more amicable as places of learning about sikhi and punjabi. There has to be a shift in balancing the needs of a gurudwara to be a function place for rites of passage ceremonies , and the need for a gurudwara to be an institution for the learning ,promotion , preaching and teaching of Sikhism . 2)Likewise to restore gurudwaras to their pristine purity as a house of God, a gurudwara at its apex should be administered by 5 fully baptised pyaras who are well educated and totally non partisan ,one of which ought to be the granthi/gyani. They in turn can then organise different teams in charge of different operations. 3)A programme has to be instituted for the granthi of that gurudwara to be fully conversant in english/norwegian/french/malay/chinese/etc depending on the national language of the country that gurudwara is located in . Likewise the granthi has to be computer literate ,well connected to going ons around the world and his town . Ideally a person who could be conversing with his sangat on twitter ,facebook ,msn ,yahoo .etc . 4)Specific programmes on specific dates and times targetting youths need to be arranged at the gurudwara which are well publised e.g youth satsangs, punjabi ,gurbani santhiya n xplanations classes ,sangeet etc etc. 5)The gurudwara must also extend facilities to local schools/colleges /universities offering to send ppl to give little talks on Sikhism ,hold an exhibition on Sikhism etc. 6)Easily accessible well stocked libraries are an essential .Wherever possible gym/gatka facuilties to be added . An online and prinited weekly/monthly bulletin from that gurudwara would be helpful. 7) wifi facilities are essential for a lot of different reasons ,including the ability to broadcast going ons in the gurudwara for those who cannot attend . 8)Gurudwaras cannot afford to be seen as community centres answering the needs of a minority 'closed up' community within a population, with a fixed agenda of promoting punjabee culture . Sensible thinking says that a gurudwara is a place for the propagation ,popularisation and promotion of Sikhism in that locality/town or city even to the wider population. This serves 2 purposes ,i.e a greater understanding and tolerance of sikhs in that town ,and b) gives access and creates the possibilty of other races converting to Sikhism. 9)In relation to point 8, a gurudwara has to be an avenue and institution that represents and speaks out not only for Sikh interests ,but also gives the local media the community's feelings over going ons in that town be it crime ,some positive developments etc . 10)Likewise, a gurudwara has to play an active role in helping other institutions key to welfare ,progress and development to flourish . During the Guru's times , Gurujee never just started a gurudwara e.g harmandir sahib ,They also encouraged a town and businesses to develop in that vicinity ,or a colony for lepers(tran taran). A gurudwara in a town has to have 'the ripple effect'' not just close in on itself as a private members club . Essentially a gurudwara cannot afford to remain a 'stand alone ' sikh institution in a town, dedicated to rites of passage ceremonies . It has to take centre stage ,spearheading ,co-ordinating parchar activities within that town ,acting as the liason between the community and the authorities ,amongst other things. You cannot run it like how you run a democratic goverment with a 2 party system ,constantly at odds with each other . This requires a paradigm shift in our thinking about gurudwaras . Further, constantly changing educational ,socio-cultural,employment and linguistic demographics mean that gurudwaras must have inbuilt levers of change with the flexibility to adapt according to new needs of upcoming generations.
  19. We are really asking to be in attendance with the holy saints of Sach Khand where the atmic tongue drinks the Amrit of Guru Jis internal darbar. well said . you write very inspiringly . write more ,even write a book .ill be the 1st to buy it hahaaa . luv you my veer
  20. veerjee, it would be kind if you wrote a little summary of Bhagat Puran Singh's life here ,for all those sikh youths and non -sikhs who visit this site without much knowledge of Sikhi . Just a couple of paragraphs .
  21. hope you didnt miss my 2nd post to you on this. I gave you lots of tips
  22. You asked me if kids are the neatest things . well they can look innocent ,lovable and neat but hold your fire, because inside that baby's body is a soul from many many previous births carrying with it karmas good and bad from all these previous lifetimes. All you can do is to offer all your parental nurture, support, protection and love but without getting attached . As a child grows up ,the complex web of that soul's past karma, God's Will for that soul , and that soul's efforts to escape, or get further trapped in the matrix, all interplay in ways beyond your comprehension. You can never know if your innocent looking child is slowly going to unfold to become a saint ,or a sinner , or a prostitute , or a pope ,a puuper or paymaster ,a healthy or ill ridden human being . All you can do is to pray to Waheguru for the 'bhela' or good of that soul,. and provide the best spiritual, religous, physical ,emotional .educational etc for your child and leave the rest to God. This can be painful to swallow but is the truth. Do keep going to Gurudwara because Gurujee(SHREE GURU GRANTH SAHIB) is in attendance there, bestowing Their blessings daily to all who come in Their presence ,even though you know God's presence is within ,as its Gurujee that will grant you more and more access to That which is within. All of SGGS encourages to actively seek satsangat, to be in sangat with other Sikhs as in gurudwara. And as i said before you have to be where God wants you now in terms of religion ,faith ,work ,family ,etc ,not where u were before . What you clung on to in the past has failed and driven you to what's present. Thats why you were made to meet the sikh from fiji ,gyani thakur singh, gurudwaras ,sikhs from this site etc etc so its good to make a clean break from your past and enjoy wots now in your life that is being bestowed to you ,i.e Sikhi and embrace it, no matter what the sacrifice. During the times of the Gurus ,countless Hindus and Muslims became Sikhs and never ever regretted or turned back but infact had to sacrifice their lifes for Sikhism . Do try to get hold of a book called '' The Spirit Born People ' by Puran Singh. It summarises the beauty of being a Sikh in an honest but inspiring way. I was born in a very very staunch Muslim country where i had a choice if i wanted to stay a sikh or convert to Islam . I even studied Islam to a very very 'high' theological level under Islamic scholars ,even went through the Quran verse by verse starting from sura al fatiha to sura al baqarah and on ,the detailed life of Prophet Muhammad , the history of Islam, hadith ,sunna , etc etc . Had i converted i would have been given big monetary rewards ,big promotions in goverment, 4 wifes, etc etc .But i chose to stick to Sikhism and be baptised ,even though it meant i would be heavily discriminated against . Thats because there is nothing more beautiful in the whole universe than Sikhism. As you said your search is off because now you have found the True Guru to guide you in your life i.e SHREE GURU GRANTH SAHIB . Gurbani says ''anand bheya meri mai ,satgur me paeah'',i.e i am in joy now as i have found the Satguru ,i.e the Eternally True Guru . As you journey on ,may Gurujee bless you to receive Amrit from Gurujee and become a Khalsa .
  23. hehe, in Gurbani it says if i was a little stone , it would appear tiny and humble ,but be an impediment to those walking on a path (stone under yur feet ouccchhh) ,if i was to be water i would be all soft and flexi but if i got too hot i would cause a burn .the shabad concludes by saying ''harjan esah chahieh ,jaisa har hi hoe'' i.e desire not to be a stone or anything but desire to be like God Himself . To be like God , you defo need to do loads loads loads ardas constantly knocking at God's door to somehow kick you out of your bed to be up in the night hours chanting away waheguru ,nitnem ,keertan etc etc . Yes you do attain a certain level of spirituality by doing all that during the day ,but during the day you are surrounded by people ,gotta eat ,work ,study ,etc etc .During the night hours is wen all the wordly stuff is off your back , and you can focus on a romantic time wiv God n Guru one to one. It gives you loads power to be a lion during the day as you go about doing stuff . You can work out the rest of the logic yourself veerjee . O God im so proud and happy that you desire to be so close to Gurujee . I can almost picture you getting up in the middle of the night ,having a nice little shower , then interacting and communicating with Gurujee thru all ur prayers in the dewy dark night, making you wet wet wet n soaked with God's love and power. aweeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!
