  1. Bhainji, what does that have to do with the topic? :D
  2. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh! Waheguru ji!! :D Man I can't praise amrit enough, before taking amrit I was soooooo hesitant, everyone kept telling me its hard to find a professional amritdhari girl, and so on, and how its hard to get a job, etc. But I never even thought about that stuff, once you have the yearning for amrit within you, you don't care what people say, all you care about is what your father, Guru Gobind Singh ji maharaj would say!! I know this other singh from around here who's also wanting to take amrit in a week or so. Man the feeling you get after you take amrit is amazing!! You shouldn't delay!! Don't say WHY, say WAHEGURU!! :D Bhul chuk maaf!! Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh!
  3. Ok, I'll help jog your memory....... 5 kakaar 5 aab(rivers) 5 Vices (Kaam, Krodh, etc) SINGH=5 letters :D 5 Banian (NITNEM) pa(n)j nivaajaa vakhath pa(n)j pa(n)jaa pa(n)jae naao || There are five prayers and five times of day for prayer; the five have five names.
  4. Waheguru ji!!! This topic was started on the old forum, and I wanna get it kickin again, there is such a big significance behind the number 5 in Sikhi. Let me start off with the birth of Khalsa!! When the human is born, God gives 5 fingers on each hand. When the human is born, God gives 5 toes on each foot. When the human is born, God gives 5 senses - touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight. Everything new created in this world is made of 5 elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Metal, Wood. 300 years ago 5 men sacrificed their lives to be reborn. Like a new baby is given a new name, these 5 men were given the new name Singh. Like a new baby is dressed with new clothes, these 5 men were dressed with a new identity, the 5 k's - kesh, khanga, karra, kachha, kirpan. These 5 men united represented, - The birth of Khalsa - :g :g :g
  5. RAAG SORAT’H, THE WORD OF DEVOTEE KABEER JEE, FIRST HOUSE: ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU: When the body is burnt, it turns to ashes; if it is not cremated, then it is eaten by armies of worms. The unbaked clay pitcher dissolves, when water is poured into it; this is also the nature of the body. || 1 || Why, O Siblings of Destiny, do you strut around, all puffed up with pride? Have you forgotten those days, when you were hanging, face down, for ten months? || 1 || Pause || Like the bee which collects honey, the fool eagerly gathers and collects wealth. At the time of death, they shout, “Take him away, take him away! Why leave a ghost lying around?” || 2 || His wife accompanies his to the threshold, and his friends and companions beyond. All the people and relatives go as far as the cremation grounds, and then, the soul-swan goes on alone. || 3 || Says Kabeer, listen, O mortal being: you have been seized by Death, and you have fallen into the deep, dark pit. 6. LOL!! gurkiya sakhiya After you watch that movie, you get into :g mood, lol :D ) Don't be comin for the sikhsangat for the :g lol :D Ya I agree there should be more movies like that gatka camp type!!!!!! Man that was awesome!!!! Send a chill down your spine, realy good!!!!
  7. I personally never give money to the kirtanias, because their kirtan is priceless, and singing the lord's praises is priceless, you can't match that with anything in this world. There has been controversy with giving money to the keertanias, some say the keertanias are just doing that to make money, and live at the Gurdwara. Also I've even heard stories that these keertanias do very bad things, like drink, goto "bad places", :D @!! I don't know if its true, but I don't want any of my money or the sangat's money going towards helping em drink, etc. I'm very sorry if I said anything wrong, its what I hear so please daas dee bhul chuk maaf karnee!!
  8. Nice!! You guys have some great views on this topic!! The thing with our Guru Sahibans, they were immortal, jot of Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji maharaj himself, its true they wanted to set an example for their Sikhs, to live in grihst jeevan, and also stay in Guru's hukam as well, but we are mere humans and don't have the capabilities to control maya without our Guru's full blessings and naam within our hearts, only with Gur kirpa can you control maya. Another point comes up, what about people that live in the Gurdwara, its toooooo easy to fight the 5 vices while living in the Gurdwara itself, where there is no maya . It is alot harder to refrain yourself from the 5 vices, when you're living in a family, rather than alone somewhere in the woods, our Gurus could've done that as well, but they wanted to set an example for us, not to do that, because that's the easy way, but rather live in society, "naam japo, avraa naam japaavo" Bhul chuk maaf!
  9. Man! You know I got ideas lined up!! :D Just need Guru's kirpa!! About that Gadar movie, it did bring alot of controversy, B) and after that movie Sunny Deol came to Toronto, and he got the bashing of the lifetime, I doubt he'll ever come back again, he was on the radio and apnay were swearing at him like no tomorro!! :D ) I was happy, atleast he realized his mistakes!!!!!!!
  10. wow man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D thanks soooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!! Now I can beat Bill Gates!!! :D Thanks again!!!! p.s. you should put it in downloads! :D since that place doesn't have much going on!! :D
  11. Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh! I use to watch hindi movies back in the dayz, then quit watchin just cuz I hate the government and its all a scheme used in political matters... My mom said this was a good movie to watch, from what she heard, so I was bored today and started watchin....It shows the bravery of Sikhs, and how brave the Sikh regiment of india is, funny how they didn't add anything to distort a Sikh's image, or make a sikh look like jokers, and clowns, this made me laugh, because throughout the movie it SIKHS AGAINST MUSLIMS, which I think is their new scheme to scare Pakistan, lol. Everyone knows that Sikhs are the most courageous, most bravest out of the army India, and also from a military perspective Sikhs were in the front lines of all the major wars with England, and in India, also the majority of the indian army consists of the Sikhs. I have all the facts about the Sikh regiment of India, and I was very proud when I actually read up on it. Anywayz, I just wanted to see if anyone saw this movie, and what you thought? Bhul chuk maaf karnee!! Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh!
  12. WOW!! That's a good ideology Singh!! We're like a garden full of flowers for the pleasure of Waheguru ji!!! So we need so spready the message and create more gardens!! :D
  13. This topic comes up alot on other sites, I just wanted to get the sangat's views on it. People say you can't really receive salvation by living in a family, by taking care of the family, working, etc. You must live alone, do bhagti, simran, jap bani, in order to receive TRUE salvation and meet Waheguru ji. Guru Nanak Dev ji already said you should live a grihst jeevan (family life), and also remember Waheguru with every breath, I personally beleive its twice as hard to get to that stage while living in the family and you have to try twice as hard to fight kaam, and moh within the family. True sants like Sant Baba Isher Singh ji, and Sant Baba Nand Singh ji, also kaleranwale sant, lived with the sangat and preached only the one Almighty, and did years and years of bhagti, which brought em to that level. What do you guys think? :T:
  14. Someone deleted my post!! :'(
  15. There you go!! I'm against preparing food for langar at home, unless its for a special occaison and you keep utmost succham!!
  16. Its not a matter of food being prepared by amritdharis or non-amritdharis, its a matter of PURITY!!!!!!! So lets leave the amritdhari/non-amritdhari aspect out of this!!!!!!!!! Remember our Guru sahibs didn't put any restrictions on who to prepare the food, but there's somewhere you have to draw the line between the two, you can't compare an amritdhari sikh to a non-amritdhari sikh. WHy did Guru ji make kitchen, to prepare food, if food was to be prepared at home, Guru sahib would've told us, but the maryada is to cook the food in the gurdwara and to be served in the Gurdwara. Also if you take food from the Gurdwara its a paap, I don't know if this just developed from the culture side, or if its the truth? :T:
  17. Its like poetry, but with an edge, I can post one of the poems from the 'LITERATURE' section, and that sounds like rap! Depends how you read it!! :D
  18. Gurmukh pyareo! 'Sangrad' represents the beginning of a new month, there is a name for each month I think according to the nanakshahi calander, so it marks the beginning of the month. About the full-moon, that is called 'poornmashi', and is celebrated at Nanaksar Gurdwara, its a type of maryada, started by Sant Baba Nand Singh ji, its not a ritual or special thing with the moon, its just a reminder for the sangat to goto Gurdwara sahib and have Guru's darshan. THis time of the month is just to remind everyone to goto the Gurdwara, man there's a Nanaksar Gurdwara on my street, and my whole street is fullll of cars, and also other streets are packed, there's no space to park for anyone, and they've hired two police officers to manage the traffic coming in and out of the Gurdwara, which is good!!
  19. Also agree with Vicky Veerji's post!!!!
  20. Also, I live near Nanaksar, and whenever there's a poornmashi, the sangat brings langar from home, and they serve it on that day at the Gurdwara. Sikhforlife Veer, I understand you don't have to be amritdhari to cook food for the sangat, but you have to be pure, meaning you don't drink, smoke, eat meat, etc. Because you are preparing food for both amritdhari and non-amritdhari people, and the khalsa is instructed not to eat the jooth of others, so by making jootha langar, you are doing a paap. My two cents. Gurfateh!
  21. Yea, Mkhalsa has it right, if there's any type of drinking, smoking, going on in the house, langar shouldn't be made, no matter who it is. If in the house, Guru Granth Sahib ji is present and gurbani is sung, and its a good environment, there should be no problem, but if someone in the house drinks, etc. Then its waaaaaaaaaay out of Gurmat!
  22. I might have that bhainji! WHat should I do? :D
  23. Unless the entire family has taken amirt, and prepare the food with purity, and no jootha, should it be allowed in the Gurdwaras. Remember Guruji has to take bhog to it first, and since an amritdhari singh/kaur can't eat someone's jooth, how can you give it to your Guru, that's MAJOR MAJOR paap right there man. So to prepare food at home for the Gurdwara, you have to be really careful!!
