  1. Corridor to Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara could be another Indo-Pak CBM: Mukherjee June 28th, 2008 - 10:02 pm ICT by ANI - Email This Post // pubId=7993; // siteId=7994; // kadId=4972; // kadwidth=250; // kadheight=250; // kadtype=1; By Ravinder Singh Robin Dera Baba Nanak, June 28, (ANI): External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said that the building of a tarred corridor between the Dera Baba Nanak in India and the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan’s Narowal District, could serve as a possible confidence building measure (CBM) between the two countries. Mukherjee was visiting Dera Baba Nanak at the invitation of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to assess the feasibility of the corridor to facilitate pilgrims. Mukherjee said it was necessarily to create a good relationship with Pakistan, as We have already opened two routes with Pakistan and are ready to open more routes so that more people come and know each other, and remove existing misunderstandings. The minister announced that the Indian Government would send a group of experts to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of the much in demand corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to Kartarpur Sahib. He said the team would submit a report to the government, following which the matter would be discussed with Pakistan. If Islamabad agreed to proposed project, it would be immediately implemented, he added. Mukherjee visit to the border was welcomed by various Sikh organizations. Badal thanked Mukherjee for his favourable response to the request forwarded by the entire Sikh community. Mukherjees green signal meant that the proposed corridor would soon be a reality, Badal said. Badal said that once the corridor was in place, Sikh devotees could enjoy a hassle-free pilgrimage, instead of taking the circuitous journey via Wagah, Lahore and Narowal. The region would also experience heightened economic and tourism activity as a result. The corridor to the holy shrine would in time turn out to be a corridor for peace and prosperity, claimed Nirmal Singh Kahlon, the Speaker of the Punjab State Assembly. Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Wadala, the president of the Kartarpur Langha Committee, said: It would be a dream come true. We have been struggling for many years to get this corridor and wish that the visit of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will bring fruit. Dr. Pritpal Singh, the convener of the American Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (AGPC), described it as a long pending demand of the Sikh Diaspora. Talking from the United States, Dr. Singh said that they would also appeal to the Pakistan Government to respond positively to build the corridor without any further delay. He also offered the help of the AGPC in funding the cost of the corridor. Dr. Rajwant Singh, the president of a Washington-based NGO, said that it would really be a happy moment for the Sikhs if the Government of India moved in the direction of building a corridor between the two countries. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar also welcomed the Indian Government initiative. KanwarPal Singh, a spokesperson for the Dal Khalsa, also welcomed the announcement made by Pranab Mukherjee. The Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib is situated in Pakistans Narowal District, where Guru Nanak spent more than 18 years of his life. Sikh pilgrims have been demanding a safe passage to the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib from Dera Baba Nanak for years. (ANI)

  5. Wow, if Mr Sarna can make Khalistan, I would definitely move. Can he?????.........lol On a serious note, if Khalistan is made, it would be a tough country to govern. look how Sikhs fight for the control of gurdwaras , i fear how much would they fight for governing a country. I think that was the only reason Sikhs almost got Khalistan but didnt get it in the end.Bcoz God saw how much corrupt are we ourselves. Look how so called many of our Khalistani leaders were actually govt cats & how easily were they bought by the Govt
  6. No he is the same and this is pic shown on TV as well
  7. They should have openly said that we apologize to gen public for any inconvenience or damage but its NOT bcoz of threat of Shiv Sena That would have been Ankh and they should have dared Shiv Sena to stop interfering in Sikhs, matter
  8. Yes i saw this on news. It just reflects the cowardice and submission to threats of Shiv Sena and Shiv Sena will take full credit for 'silencing' the Sikhs

  11. MUMBAI: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Sunday warned Sikhs in Mumbai against indulging in further violence. Thackeray was reacting to the violence that occurred in Mumbai on Friday and Saturday after a Sikh protester was gunned down allegedly by a bodyguard of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. In a strongly-worded statement frontpaged by party organ, Saamna , Thackeray said it was the Sena which had protected Sikhs in Mumbai after the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Thackeray noted that a large number of Sikhs were seen roaming around the streets of Mulund brandishing swords and attacking innocent people, including women. Train commuters were targeted for no fault of theirs, he said, adding that several women went to the Shiv Sena shakha in Mulund and complained to local leader Prabhakar Shinde about the violence. However, despite complaints from Shinde, the police failed to take action, he added. Thackeray said the Sikhs should ask their elders about the Delhi riots in case they had forgotten about them. He further pointed out that if the anti-Sikhs riots did not spread to Mumbai in 1984, it was largely because of the Shiv Sena. He said the then President, Giani Zail Singh, had thanked him for protecting members of his community in Mumbai while those in Delhi had suffered. Sources in the Sena said party activists would not remain mute spectators if the Sikhs resorted to violence in future. "The open display of swords, assaults on innocent men and women, forced closure of shops and vandalising of railway property have angered Thackeray and his son Uddhav. We will hit back if the Sikhs repeat their acts. Nobody is justifying the opening of fire by the Dera bodyguard, but why should innocent people and public property in Maharashtra be targeted?" a senior Sena leader asked. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Sena_ch...how/3154526.cms

  13. May be he is Brar himself or a son /granson of that <admin-profanity filter activated> And if he is a real life hero, why doesnt he go to Golden Temple without any security.God protects true heroes.....so why he is so afriad.....and true heros dont need Z+ security even if they need to go to toilet
  14. Bindra Sahib, How many times was Sarna or Badal Imprisoned or tortured thru 1984 till today?
  15. I dont know what uguys are fighting for. Badal is bad , so is BJP. That does not make Sarna or congress good. This statement is uncalled for. Sikhs are Sikhs..........there 's no such thing as Delhi Sikhs or Punjab Sikhs....... But its true that % of Sikhs in Punjab who have cut their hair and going to Deras etc is much higher in Punjab. Though the absolute no. of GurSikhs in Punjab will be higher bcoz of the fact that Punjab has in general higher Sikh population. But a Sikh living in Tamil NAdu may die for his religion while a Sikh living next to Darbar Sahib may turn his back to his religion. There cannot be a general statement. And Bindra Sahib plz dont bring Sarna into each and every topic. People who do good work will be appreciated by Lord, if Sarna is good, people will come to know......there's no need to promote his advertisements again and again. Bindra Sahib, i would suggest u open a new poll and include guys like Simranjit Singh Mann, Jagtar Singh Hawara etc........and see who wins U want us to choose between 2 rotten apples........
